This
was
a
truly
awful
experience.
We
were
on
holiday
in
Tuscany
when
our
2
year
old
had
an
accident
and
needed
to
stay
several
days
in
a
rural
hospital.
When
we
finally
got
the
all-clear
to
leave
the
hospital,
we
hurried
to
book
ground
transit
and
a
hotel
in
Florence
for
the
night
while
we
awaited
our
return
flight
home
(since
we
missed
our
original
flight
home
to
the
states
due
to
the
extended
hospital
stay).
The
cheapest
room
in
Florence
we
could
find
was
nearly
800
euros,
which
really
stung,
but
we
figured
at
least
we'd
have
a
clean,
safe
place
to
stay
after
a
truly
terrifying
ordeal.
Boy,
were
we
wrong.
This
place
was
awful.
I've
stayed
in
nicer
youth
hostels
for
20
euros/night.
The
room
was
filthy
and
filled
with
mosquitos,
and
the
door
handle
literally
broke
off
into
my
hand,
locking
us
in
the
room!
There
were
broken
hooks
and
missing
art
from
the
walls,
the
ceiling
light
was
missing
and
the
lamp
was
broken,
the
toilet
paper
dispenser
was
broken
(so
the
tp
was
just
sitting
on
the
floor
beside
the
toilet--
yuck),
and
the
shower
head
was
broken
and
spurted
everywhere.
To
make
matters
worse,
Hotel
Annabella
is
a
three-story
walk
up,
and
the
elevator
wasn't
working
when
we
arrived
(meaning
my
husband
had
to
lug
4
suitcases,
backpacks,
a
stroller,
and
a
carseat
up
those
stairs
solo
while
I
tended
to
our
hurt
child).
After
our
stay,
I
contacted
hotels.com
(where
we
booked
Hotel
Annabella)
to
report
the
conditions
(along
with
photos)
and
request
a
refund,
as
the
hotel
was
blatantly
misrepresented
online.
Hotels.com
advised
neither
they
nor
Hotel
Annabella
would
work
with
us
on
a
refund,
and
I
am
appalled
to
see
a
lodging
this
predatory
supported
by
a
third
party
service.
