Amazing! Definitely a must visit spot for bouldering but even for nature lovers. The forest itself is beautiful and has some very fun hikes. There are some nice small villages nearby with cute AirB&Bs.

What a gorgeous forest - landscape keeps changing and surprising you with new scenery. There are some impressive boulder fields, quite famous in the bouldering community, but it's also very nice just to hike around. Something to check out is Gorges d'Apremont, a lovely area full of boulders and breathtaking views. There are marked trails (blue, yellow, orange) and a parking if you're coming by car. Bring food and water with you though, not many chances for refills.

Magical forest with easy treks and well-marked trails on offline maps. Great boulders for climbers who are making their pilgrimage as well!

Beautiful. Ridiculously low rock climbing opportunities, at about 3 metres. Silly really! A great forest walk, though poorly marked. With so many intersecting trails it is easy to get lost

Went for the climbing. Guidebooks can be useful but not necessary if you either want to find your own circuits or know how to read the circuits drawn on the boulders

We come here almost every year for a camping holiday with family and friends. Mostly for bouldering but also plenty of walks and wild swimming. Check your maps/guidebooks carefully for which paths and tracks are suitable for cars. Lots of carparks now on Google maps which makes navigating around the forest easier.

Beautiful forest, close to Paris. We had a great time. Took the train from Gare de Lyon, and then the #1 bus to the forest. The trail markings were very confusing. We got lost many times, but luckily we would come across people who could point us in the right direction and we had a good laugh about it. I recommend you pack a paper map, because occasionally phone coverage was spotty. All in all, i enjoyed it and will return.

Absolutely fantastic place to go for a climb. An abundance of climbs for every level of climber and even if you dont have a good climbing day, its such an amazing and gorgeous place to spend some time especially with good company Lots of different climbing areas to visit and a great reason to stick around for a while. Not far from Paris which is always a nice trip on a rest day

I'm a climber. It's the best climbing in the world. Enough said. Great for runners and walkers and those who enjoy exploring. 20,000 square kilometres and over 250 distinct climbing sectors. Heaven

An hour or so from central Paris and a joy to be in. I boulder so it is the world’s best location for that alone. In addition, it’s got charm and nature and rolling fields and classic French food and quality restaurants and more. Summer is wonderful like a perfect English location. I can say enough a little the area and its towns villages.
