Buyer beware! Membership is NON CANCELABLE! They tricked to and told me I could cancel with a 30 day notice and a fee and it turns out that only applies if you have a medical condition or are moving over 25 miles away from the gym (they didn't mention this upon signing up of course). As someone who does not sign up for anything that can't be canceled ever, I felt tricked and lied to. Now I must attend a gym I don't like for a year. That's what you call shady business. When I confronted them about it, they denied telling me anything and refused to help me cancel. Quite literally the worst relationship you could ever get into. Shame on the owner (Clay Flotz I see you). Unfortunately there is no gym etiquette here which is part of the reason I wanted to leave. Cleaners vacuuming and mopping during busy hours, people have their big gym bags around the gym on the floor next to them when they should be in the locker room where they belong. No one is enforcing this. When I approached the "manager" I was told "it has always been like this" and that was that. Employees are cute but not friendly. Get treated 20 times better at Planet Fitness which is $10 a month. You also get to cancel whenever and bring a friend any day if you'd like. Not to mention you can workout at any location in the country. On top all of this, machines are out of order every single day with some items such as the very important water fountain having been out of order for now about 6 months. A completely disrespect to members paying top dollar for a gym. Again, planet fitness has 0 machines out of order for 1/6th of the fee. Absolutely no excuse for this to be happening. Shameless!

Unfortunately over the past several months this gym has gotten to a point where I would not recommend it. At one point, there were 7 broken pieces of equipment, the longest of which took several months to repair. The seat covers on several pieces of equipment are torn. Mirrors are broken. Sound system is broken. Water fountain is broken. Now, 2 of the 3 bench presses have been moved to the spin room where spin classes and personal training classes take place. You cannot enter the room to bench. The trainers literally tie the doors shut to prevent anyone from coming in. The gym is exceptionally crowded and the broken equipment + moving machines to unusable spaces have made the cons outweigh the pros for the premium membership prices.

Sadly this place is going downhill very fast with more and more machine being broken and in need of maintenance. Members complain but the complaints fall on deaf ears. What was once supposed to be an upscale gym is quite below average in my opinion. There’s no shortage of Selfie sticks that get in the way however. So if you’re looking for selfie sticks and people filming themselves with tripods please join. If you’re looking for machines that are clean and working… you may be out of luck

The membership agents will lie and deceive to have you sign up for a membership. When you ask the front desk staff for answers they say you need to speak to a manager who is conveniently never available and they never call you back. I’ve asked for a callback 6 times over a month and a half now and nothing. I even sent an email, again, no response. On top of the absorbent fees you already pay upon signing up they also hide other made up fees throughout the year and bill you for them without notice. Overall I’d look for a gym that has ethical and transparent business practices.

I want to like this gym but it just keeps getting worse. Every member asks the same question: Who and where is the "manager"? 1- You recently moved ALL but one of the bench press into the Spinning room. It does not make any sense. The bench press area now is empty with ramdom machines. Again we can't understand the reason and wonder if decision makers have actual experience running a health club. 2- When are you going to fix the AC? It has been several weeks that the air circulation is almost none and it gets uncomfortably warm. Obviously the AC is not working properly but yet you charged all members a yearly "maintenance fee" 3- The sounds system broke almost 2 months ago and your "interim" solution was to place ONE big LOUD speaker by the front? So much for a "Refined Fitness experience" or a "World Class experience" as you advertise your clubs. Do something already, you charge every member maintenance fees aside from the club monthly fees. Hire an experienced professional to run this place because it is a shame.

I was a member for a few months at Powerhouse Gym Fort Lauderdale and I can say that it was a clean gym, and good experience to begin with. The staff are nice, but not the most intelligent. I have had several conversations with them where they had made errors with my membership charges and their responses were low class, unprofessional, and something you would expect at Walmart, not a gym I pay this much for. On top of this, the new staff and management is SCAMMING at a level I have never seen before. My ex boyfriend and I had quit this gym and asked for our memberships to be canceled after the first 3 months, but the incapable employee did not cancel the membership. Instead, they have charged me for membership for an entire year now (even though I moved across the country). And instead of seeing that I haven’t been in the gym since March and un-doing the charges, they have told me I CANNOT EVEN CANCEL until I pay for the last 8 months I have not used, and they have threatened to keep charging my account every month to follow me not paying this false charge. My credit score is now a 600 because they threw 2,000 into collections under my name without me knowing. Don’t risk your credit score by going to this gym. They are not reasonable, and they will ruin your life.

I like that it’s kinda high end but people that workout or that work there are just so stupid. I don’t understand why they put the heavier weights on the lowest levels. It’s drives me mad to have to move the heavy 45 pound plates a lot because people just don’t use their brain. The heavy plate should be in the upper level because you wanna put it where the green circle is, and not the lighter weights as it’s so easy to move them. It feels like powerhouse employees want customers to get injured by moving the plates so much.

I’ve been a member here since opening, it’s very troubling I’ve seen members have two heart attacks in the last two years while working out and there is absolutely NO DEFIBRILLATOR on the gym floor. Every other gym has them ready to use. LA Fitness has two every gym. People could have died because the owner is worried about his “aesthetic” look of the gym. Not acceptable.

I really hate writing bad reviews and I’ve been holding this back for a while, but this needs to be said. This place has absolutely gone downhill. you walk in here air-conditioning is set to 76-77 meanwhile it’s 100+ outside. This place is as cheap as they come. A blaring Best Buy Bluetooth speaker next to the water fountains because they’re too cheap to fix the overhead speakers that once we’re working. Can’t believe I am saying this, but LA Fitness is actually a better gym. This was not the case when this place first opened. I hope they correct these issues as I would be happy to take down this review.

Great gym, but unprofessional management. I had been working out there pretty regularly. About 2 months ago I was having a discussion with someone at the front desk when a manager chastised me by saying I was distracting the employee. I haven’t been to the gym since. No customer should ever be subjected to that kind of behavior. First opportunity to cancel the contract, I will. I can’t stomach the idea of ever setting foot in such an unprofessional place again.

Powerhouse gym is in a great location in the the mall. It's great because you can shop before and after they have an amazing locker room with a sauna. They also have a large variety of equipment and lots of sanitation wipes to keep all the machines clean they have fridges with protein drinks and apparel for purchase. They also have a yoga room with smaller weights. There are trainers available per request

Joined this gym before the pandemic, soon after I tried to cancel by phone, as we could no longer use the services and could not come in person to to cancel as their policy stated. No one was at the gym to answer the phone. I left several messages that were not returned. I understand that during the pandemic there were some unprecedented times, so I just stopped the payment with my bank since I wasn’t getting anywhere with the gym. Not only did they not reach out to resolve the issue, THEY REPORTED ME TO COLLECTIONS, causing a negative mark on my credit report. I have since disputed the report with equifax and filed a report with the better business bureau. These shady practices are why I would never ever recommend this gym to anyone. There are plenty of gyms nearby that don’t send you to collections for trying to cancel. Honestly, I thought gyms stopped this nonsense a long time ago. BUYER BEWARE, they WILL try to stop you from cancelling, they WILL make it impossible, and if you don’t comply with their demands they WILL hold your credit hostage. Trash gym, trash policies

This gym is fantastic. I was on vacation and needed a spot to work out. I arrived at the place and read some google review to make sure I knew how to enter this location and avoid the mall. I was easy to get up to. They gave me a day pass and as soon as I got there I had a great experience. They have a wonderful scent throughout the gym and change rooms not too strong and strong enough to avoid any scent issues a gym brings. The equipment is great quality and they have just about everything. I arrive at 8:40 am on a Wednesday and it was not packed, but there was a good amount of people. The change rooms are designed well and very clean ( bring your own lock). There is a spin room, yoga room , artificial grass area, stretching area, and I am pretty sure there is an area to pose and take pictures and ( or so it seems ). Highly recommend this gym even if it's for a visit. Downfalls it is not cheap and no towels. Don't forget to bring your own towel.

I've had so many issues with the management at this gym, it's difficult to even know where to start. I had a membership in 2019 that I paused after giving birth to my daughter. I wasn't informed that the pause was only for 3 months - I thought it was on hold until I resumed it. Then Covid happened and the gym shut down, automatically freezing all memberships. The memberships resumed in May of 2020. Again, I thought my membership was on hold but it had apparently been reactivated (without my knowledge) in May. The credit card I had put on file for payments in 2019 was no longer valid so the gym couldn't take payment. Instead of calling me, emailing me, sending me a letter that my account wasn't being paid - they sent me straight to collections. Absolute BS. The contract is NOT flexible, the management will NOT work with you - they won't even answer your calls or call you back. Horrible customer service for a just meh gym. Please god, bring Equinox to Fort Lauderdale. I'd rather pay Equinox prices than deal with gyms like Powerhouse.

Has all the up to date equipments in a modern and clean environment. Doesn't really matter what time you get there, gets pretty busy either way. At the most, people are respectful of your space to workout, but on the other, alot of social media gym personnel, meaning beware of gym areas such as cables and squat rack to be taken up for hours by them...

I have being going to PH Fort Lauderdale from the day it opened. In the beginning it was clean, well maintained and not too crowded. Flash forward to 2021. The only cross trainer/cable station (located in the back) has been broken for several months. One of two rowers has been unusable for over a month due to a broken foot strap. Cup holder in one elliptical has been missing for two years: it's hilarious to watch people put their water bottles in and they fall right through to the ground. The rowers, several ellipticals and treadmills all need serious tuning and calibration. All of these problems have been brought to the attention of management many times. There's a disproportionate amount of leg and butt-focused equipment, which is no surprise, but it would be nice if management cared enough to maintain the rest of the equipment for those of us that train other parts of our bodies. It's nearly impossible to find a time when the place is not packed, and many members dominate a single piece of equipment for 30 minutes or more--and decline to share. Others are busy at equipment posing for IG posts. During the first Covid outbreak the gym was diligent about providing wipes and hand sanitizers: that has been cut way back. What's the point of the unused spinning room when the gym is overcrowded most of the time? Kudos to many of the staff who are friendly and professional but it's clear that the unresponsive management (and owner) is running the place on autopilot. There's no code of conduct or etiquette for members, so depending on when you go this place can be a total s***show. Unfortunately there's no competition from a gym that is like the way PH was in the beginning, and pickings are slim in central Fort Lauderdale. (note: Google "local guides" tend to love everything about any place.)

I like that it has new equipment, and that it's always clean. I wish they offered the towel service for free for the spa area. Machines for the most part are almost always available. Nice ambiance.

New Professional environment for all sorts of fitness types. This gym caters to dedicated athletes by providing top of the art lifting machines and areas. Their staff is very nice and always cleaning around for the guest to feel like at home. Look into their towel program and the tanning package, it’s a few bucks a month extra but it makes each visit so much simpler.

TL;DR: I've been going there for 8 months now. Overall I am happy with the service they provide, but for the price they ask, you can see there is a lack of competition. The facility and equipment are generally clean and mostly in working order. There are a few treadmills that are party broken or not really usable (at least for running). They have more machines than you need, so while the gym is pretty much always fairly crowded, you can always find something to do. The locker room is clean, they provide showers with basic liquid soap. The sauna is sketchy. Oftentimes there is paper tissue on the ground, and multiple pieces of the sitting bench are missing. There is a piece with what seems to be an old chewing gum that has been there for 2 weeks or so. You can also see that it's dirty in between the wood planks on the floor. I think it's time for a remodel. Other customers are generally pretty respectful. Sometimes people are loud on the phone, but that's not often. The staff is fine. Not rude, nor nice. They are definitely not trying to provide a personable service by knowing the customer, you scan your badge, maybe you get a thank you, or maybe they are chatting with a co-worker. I don't really care, but nice staff is always a plus :) Towel service is $15/month. What's annoying is that they are often out of small towels. Overall at $60/month, I am fine with what they offer. I have done way better gyms – in more expensive cities – for the same price. But the lack of competition for high-end gyms is probably why they are not trying too hard.

Powerhouse gym is by far the best gym in Ft Lauderdale. The Gym is ultra clean, has a friendly staff and has expert instructors to train and advise you. What ever your fitness goals may be, Powerhouse Gym Ft Lauderdale has it all. I highly recommend checking out the Group classes as well.. which unlike a lot of gyms is included in you monthly membership. Be Strong in life and enjoy your experience training at Powerhouse FLL.

Recently visited powerhouse gym and was greeted by Kristie and Samantha in front desk. They were wonderful to speak to and truly made me feel happy and feel welcomed. As well as helped me open my locker when I forgot my locker combination on multiple occasions. They never were irritated by the amount of times I’d have to ask and would laugh with me and make jokes. Definitely requesting more people to come to powerhouse since they will feel just as welcomed and happy as I do on a daily

I love this gym. Super clean, not intimidating, nor pushy trying to sell extra programs and training, but quality training and classes available as part of the membership and small group (for a fee) and I really like the staff ‘cause they make you feel welcomed when I go to workout.

Really good gym with great equipment. Very crowded at peak hours but there is a lot of equipment to choose from. Good lighting for selfies and gym pics. Music could be a little louder - seems a little quiet for a gym. I would train here if I lived in Fort Lauderdale.

Very good gym, pretty clean, good equipment. My issue was ending my membership after being member for almost 4 years. Went in person to close. Got receipt Thank God!. Gym then failed to cancel membership and kept charging me. My call with a female manager was the absolute worst and demeaning phone call with a customer service situation. Her obnoxious and boorish manner was totally unacceptable towards a customer. Thankfully, that receipt saved me and the gym finally reversed the charges even though the manager said that there was no chance the gym would refund me. I even contacted Powerhouse Corporate to advise of the incredibly poor customer, service. Just be careful when you end your membership.

This could serious be one of the rudest guest service experiences I’ve experienced. The GM is arrogant and dismissive. This is not a positive experience for such a transient town who should be use to welcoming guests from out of town. I’d select a friendlier gym.

Been a member before the gym opened. Got my membership in kiosk in the mall 2018. The gym has come a long way. Now I’m a 1099 employee since 2021. Grateful to have been on both sides of the fitness experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a clean gym with excellent equipment. I don’t care that much about the sound system going down to one large speaker. The majority of the members wear headphones anyway when they workout. That’s just how times are now. The speakers work excellent in each class room. The group fitness community is awesome and is growing day to day. I’ve seen gyms come and go in Broward. PHG seems to be leading the way with consistency.

By far the best gym I have EVER been to! Everything about this place is top-notch. It has a spacious layout with all of the equipment you could want/ need and it is always clean! The staff here is always incredibly friendly and is quick to respond to any questions/ concerns. Highly recommend!

  • 4/5 Erns 8 months ago on Google
Really not many complains.. most machines work, most members are cool, the diversity of machines is impressive. It gets a little busy just like every other gym, as there aren't that many in the area. Yea, they use a bluetooth speaker but I bring my own headphones and unless you care too much about the aesthetics, who cares. 4 starts because the water fountains aren't good. I worked out my whole life at Equinox and the motivation and equipment here are so much better. This is a better gym that doesn't feel cheap. Should have left a negative review so it won't get more crowded.

I recently joined Powerhouse Gym in Fort Lauderdale and I have to say, I'm impressed with their facility. My first impression was how clean and new-looking the gym is - they really take care of the place. There are many types of updated equipment to choose from. Also, the exfoliating scrub in the women’s locker room is invigorating! I decided to try out the group workout class. The instructor, Robbie, was knowledgeable and helped me get a great workout. What really stood out to me was the fantastic customer service I received from Kenji, who checked me in on my first day. He was welcoming and friendly, which made me feel comfortable right away. Thank you, Kenji! Overall, I highly recommend Powerhouse Gym in Fort Lauderdale for anyone looking for a great-looking and well-equipped gym and friendly staff.

Trash. Not worth the money, and trying to cancel is a nightmare, they will say ok, make you fill out the form then continue charging you. Not worth it. Small gym full of wanna be influencers and tripods, staff is beyond rude. Pretentious but located at the mall, go figure, a perfect representation of the gym and its goers, 0/10 would not recommend.

I liked this gym. Plenty of machines, dumbbells and power racks. They also have an area where you can buy protein drinks and energy bars. Coming from out of town I came two days in a row and purchased two day passes. I believe it was $20 for the day. The only thing I didn’t like was on the second day I wanted to get a towel to use on the machines but was told it would be $10 to rent a towel for the day. I just asked if I could buy a towel, I wouldn’t mind spending more than $10 for a small towel if I could keep it. But spending $10 to rent a towel for 1 hour in order to stay hygienic seems silly. I hope they figure out a new method of towel rentals in the future or at least have an option to buy one. Besides that nice gym and I would go back.

  • 4/5 Thomas F. H. 10 months ago on Google
Good location and the equipment is all well-maintained. But it's so crowded and there are often lines for certain machines. I don't think it could be solved by adding new machines because there's not really the room for it. So my workouts are often rushed, which sucks because the membership isn't cheap. Part of the problem is that this is pretty much the only decent gym in the area, so it's very popular.

Front desk is actually some of the most wonderful bunch I’ve met while working out in the gym. The girls are always laughing, smiling and cheering people on. If I come into the gym completely unmotivated by the time I walk past the front desk they would’ve hyped me up. I’ve seen front desk get plenty of gifts and goodies because of how happy they make us members and I’m proud to say that I work out at powerhouse gym and will continue to recommend this gym to family and friends.

Best part is having a baby amazing beautiful view while I do my cardio!

I've had numerous communications with this facility and have always found them to be courteous and efficient. Although my review may seem impartial at the end, I can assure you my statements are true and accurate. I visited this club in person a few days ago as I was visiting nearby and was immediately greeted by Julia and Austin at the front desk. I was given such a robust and informative tour of the facility by Julia that I almost signed up for a membership. The facility itself is impressive with some great top notch equipment and believe me I know something about that. Love the layout, decorum, and the atmosphere which gave off a really nice vibe. If your not getting what you pay for at your club you must stop in and see for yourself. Powerhouse Gym Fort Lauderdale I salute you, my sincerest regards (Big Rich) of Powerhouse Gym Saddle Brook NJ aka "The House"

Nice gym but unfortunately very difficult to get a hold of someone through phone. I called numerous times to setup a tour and after a couple of days with no one picking up the phone I decided to drop in. The staff were nice and the guy giving the tour was helpful. Unfortunately after that when trying to call to sign up for a membership I haven't been able to get a hold of his office or cell number on numerous occasions and days. Which both answering machines don't have his name on it. These are the numbers on his business card he gave me. I tried calling the front desk numerous times on different days to get a membership but frustratingly keep getting a voicemail that says its full. Business wise it's not good if customers or potential customers have to work that hard to get a hold of someone to get a membership.

Lots of equipment. Very clean. Good restroom and showers. Came here for a one-day trial. Social distancing is a little challenging. But, then again, if you are Covid-averse you probably are not going to any gym

The staff is friendly. They provide lockers that fit my purse & jacket without needing to bring a lock. The Himalayan salt sauna is unexpectedly amazing. The facility is super clean & they have literally every piece of new equipment you could need. I like how they have dumbbells good for me like 7.5 lbs & 17.5 lbs, the in between weights. The vaulted ceilings provide a feeling of openness so even when it’s crowded it doesn’t feel that way. I love the huge stretching area which most other gyms are lacking. If you are looking for motivation you can find it here, the clientele for the most part are super ripped!

Love this gym. I believe this year will be my 3rd year or so. Great weights. Staff are so friendly. Other gym members are respectful. Clean bathrooms. Cleaner surrounding. Just a great place. My first impression a few years ago is when I joined and Jose one of owners asked how my father was the day after I signed up. During signing up I told him how my father was dying of pancreatic cancer. Sadly he passed away. But that moment will always stick in my head. To even remember and to even ask me shows me the gym is all about family. Just a great gym. Keep up the great work.

Although this club is compact I believe it has potential to be a good option for a quick workout however there are things that would certainly help for a great experience .. For example 1- The club is on the small side but there is a studio room and a good size spinning area.. Why some of these rooms (which most days appear under utilized) are not dedicated or used by the PH trainer's instead of using the already crowded gym. Specially the spinning room has plenty of space to create a side dedicated for trainers. 2 - When a machine goes kaput - What is the sense of urgency to fix them? The multi functional trainer has been broken for over a month. Every machine counts specially when the club is on the smaller side. 3 - Sauna room - The temperature in the sauna is completely off or it is set to reach its highest level. It is way too hot and it gets very uncomfortable to spend even 5mins. I heard this same feedback from other members. Can you improve this? Please 🙏 4- Are there plans to expand the size of this club? . In the past several months I noticed a big spike of new members which nowadays the club seems to be packed at most hours. Not the greatest experience specially when people have started to stand in front of you to wait for the machine. Starting to feel like an LA Fitness experience. Positives : Front desk is friendly (noticeable improvement) , gym is clean and usually tidy. I highly recommend to reach out to members for feedback so they can share their thoughts and current experience.

Top gym 🙌🏻 one of the best I was able to visit on my travels. I was in Fort Lauderdale for 10 days and trained in this gym almost every day There is all the equipment available, great for hard training but also moderate machine training and finally a gym that has several Stairmasters 💪🏼🤗

😠 When I found out this Y went under a $20 million renovation, I was very excited! I had high expectations. When I went for a tour, I was very underwhelmed. The gym space was very small & they did not have a daycare center, which was odd. Despite all of that, I still gave the facility a chance. Afte...
