I joined the Ashtanga classes given by Chris in July 2017. There were several places around Frankfurt which I considered but it was an easy decision. Chris accommodates a wide range of people in his class; each doing yoga for their own reasons. Although I cannot speak for anyone else, I personally feel well looked after. Chris does not just hand out a program or go blindly through a schedule. He observes closely what each student is doing, struggling with and capable of. His guidance is therefore finely tuned to each student. And although his directions are clear, direct and authoritative, they do not come across as harsh or strict. On the contrary, the general mood is concentrated, relaxed and pleasant. I am not sure, how Chris pulls this off, but it is great. I highly recommend Chris' classes.

I recently started studying with Chris and can't recommend AYRF enough. He's an incredible teacher - patient and incredibly knowledgeable, and the studio is very welcoming. I look forward to continuing to practice and encourage anyone with an inkling of curiosity about Ashtanga yoga to get in touch with Chris!

I have joined the AYRF last month and could not ask for more! Chris is a super nice teacher, patient, careful and motivating and he gives personal instructions in the language you understand! the studio Is welcoming and well organized, there are never too many people, and Chris always manages to come and correct your positions even when the class is full! classes at 6:30 might seem bit early, but they are really energetic, and if I made it so early...everybody can!! :)

A very welcoming and hospitable Shala. Chris is an amazing host and teacher, very knowledgeable, attentive to detail, high level! The place itself is beautifully set, very clean and well organised. Homey feeling.

AYRF has a strong sense of community and a strong sense of fun. The community is led by Christian Braun who (clearly) has extensive experience, a big heart and amazing attention to detail. I am relatively new to the community but, having practiced yoga for a few years, I was struck by how - even in an online format - Christian is able to "connect" with his students personally; communicate adjustments with exquisite clarity (in English and German); maintain a "traditional" atmosphere/energy; challenge you to improve and develop your practice and understanding of yoga. AYRF has been an amazing, energising discovery for me. I would highly recommend (1) reading the "AYRF philosophy" (you will feel inspired); (2) Calling Christian for a chat; (3) Signing up for a trial lesson!

I have been meaning to come to a class with Chris for nearly two years and I am so glad I finally made it! If you have any concerns about not having a led class (like I did ) don’t worry… Chris and Beate are going to help you through every pose, every breath. They are both wonderful teachers. The space is also so lovely and there is a very friendly atmosphere. They are always there after the class for a cup of tea and a chat if you have time.

After a prolonged break from Ashtanga, I finally found my way back to the mat at AYRF - and it has been a true homecoming ever since. The studio provides a peaceful, airy atmosphere: under the individualized guidance of Chris and Beate (which perfectly blends supportive with challenging), I feel my practice growing stronger and more intuitive by the day. I would highly recommend this studio to students of all levels looking for a community in which to build a steady, dynamic practice - thank you Chris and Beate for creating such a wonderful yoga haven!

This is a very special dedicated Ashtanga Shala; a beautiful and safe haven, with no detail overlooked. Chris holds the space with integrity and thoughtfulness, offering each student room to explore and develop their own practice. He is a a skilful and experienced teacher. The warmth of the yoga community makes it somewhere I look forward to returning to sometime soon.

I am deeply grateful for having discovered this Ashtanga oasis where yoga is taught in a pure way: with a strong emphasis on breath, flow, inner experience and mindset. Being a long-term practitioner and a teacher myself, I appreciate this approach and know how rare and precious it is. The teachers here have a personal, attentive, deeply human approach to each and every student. You should come to this Shala, if you’re looking for a spiritual experience of self-discovery behind the physical practice, inner peace and special vibe 💫

I’m both a teacher and a student at the studio. As a yoga teacher I’ve been subletting the studio once or twice a month since November 2022 for my own yoga classes (@meet.flow.ffm). Chris has always been professional & welcoming, even though I am n a non-German speaker. The studio is beautiful and super cosy and my students love it! As a student, I’ve only joined Chris’s classes recently and I really enjoy practicing amidst the rhythm of the ujjayi breaths in the room. Chris is a great teacher and very attentive to everyone’s needs. In short I highly recommend this studio!

I can definitely recommend this studio! Chris is an amazing teacher - patient, very knowledgeable, and approachable. The atmosphere coming from a bunch of yogis aligned with their ujjayi breathing is truly mesmerizing and got me hooked immediately into the morning classes.

I have only had one class at the studio, because I was travelling through Frankfurt for a couple of days. I am a beginner in ashtanga, I don't speak German, and yet I've felt very welcome at the studio. I had ashtanga classes before, but this was the first time it felt so authentic. And I feel like I've learned more in one class than in several weeks! Thank you for your patience and attention! 🙏

Chris was so welcoming whist I was visiting in Frankfurt. His open minded and individualistic approach to practice was just what I needed after not being in a shala for a while! I would definitely be back when my schedule allows! Thank you 🙏

Today was my first time doing ASHTANGA yoga. I only knew that it is a memorized sequence of movement. Chris responded quickly to my email and a text message in English to book my first session for 6:10am. The yoga is challenging if you don’t do it regularly. Chris was welcoming and attentive. He walked me through steps and was able individually help everyone in a room. He was supportive and I knew what to expect. He was also right about bringing a small towel otherwise your mat would be soaked with sweat and slippery. I enjoyed the practice. Chris was also able to recommend another ASHTANGA studio in my next destination.

Chris is a great yoga teacher and had an amazing, beautiful studio. It was my first Ashtanga experience after some years of yoga and I could only be there for a few days but Chris treated me very well, welcomed me and talked to me before class to learn about my level. In these three Sessions I had, I learned so much about myself and Ashtanga. Was really beautiful experience and I will definitely come back when I’m back in Frankfurt!

Simply amazing! This is the best yoga place I have found and I have tried a lot of places in Frankfurt and on vacation. Their 1.5 - 2h practice is definitely sporty, but has students of all skill levels from grandma/grandpa to contortionist. Beate and Chris are the nicest people you will ever meet. Just try it out!

On this International Yoga Day I would like to give the review to Chris and Beate, they are the best teachers to help you start your yoga journey. They are so kind and make you comfortable on the mat on the first day of your class. And don't worry if you don't speak German, they can speak English very well. Highly recommended!!

I started practicing Ashtanga yoga at AYRF since a month and it has been a really great experience! Every Class has participants with differing skill levels, practicing at their own pace and Chris manages to pay attention to each one of them. The way he manages, is really marvelous. Overall, a great to place learn traditional Ashtanga Yoga: Excellent Teacher and Conducive Atmosphere.

I just can join other comments about Chris and his careful, independent and respectful teaching style of Ashtanga yoga during the yoga practice. It is always super difficult to find an yoga teacher as it should be a spiritual or chemical connection between a student and a teacher as it is about the faith et respect in the first line... From the first moment I knew he is it!! He is taking care of each student even you thing he doesn't look at you.. he corrects the mistakes with patients and he always find a time for you to talk about your inner discrepancies and doubts as the best friend.. I love this place ... his yoga assistance Beate is an angel.. she is always there if there are many people in the room and help Chris. It is my third time of ashtanga yoga. I have never done it before but Chris did that I love it!! I happy to be there and knew more about Ashtanga yoga..I recommend this place 100% .. try it and you will never regret it ;))) Thank you Chris..!

I checked out the morning Mysore class of AYRF while visiting Frankfurt and I have to say it was a great experience: I will be back soon! What I really liked was that Chris took his time to get to know me (before and during class) and I could see that he really focuses on each practitioner and their individual needs. Also, I experienced Chris as being really attentive and patient with the students! During class Chris gave me some great tips for my practice which really got me thinking. I will definitely stay in touch with AYRF and come back as soon as possible!

🫤 I liked the rooms and classes. The like sauna is a mini-bonus. The price scheme upsets me because you need to buy sessions in blocks in advance and then you have a short time to use them up. You get the option to lengthen the validity i.e. you get to pay to use what you already paid for. I somehow f...
