‼️Sofia’s New Menu Item - Escargots! ‼️ I unfortunately didn’t realise the restaurant has changed from Italian to French so it was a shock for me to order a garden salad & to receive a Snail in it. The snail was buried under a layer of lettuce & as I was eating I noticed so bubbly foam, I thought it was spit from someone but as investigated further, I noticed a black shell & the snail was crawling around, having the time of his life, eating the lettuce. Called the manager who didn’t seem very apologetic, I’m sure this will happen again to someone else.

Always a treat! Serving sizes are huge! Ask for a doggie bag. Staff are really friendly, helpful and attentive. Great views from the terrace to watch the passing parade.

The place does look run-down but the staff were helpful and the service was great. The food was fantastic. The beef burger was excellent, the fish were great and pizza was great 👍.

Update 13/6/22: We ordered 2x large The Lot pizzas, and it was still just as good as when I visited two years ago. Generous toppings; very fresh, flavoursome ingredients; piping hot. I particularly enjoyed the crispy onions, olives, and hot salami. Lovely, friendly, welcome service. June 2020: Reading the reviews to this place, I was very skeptical about visiting. However, it seems they have been either subject to grave exaggeration or unrealistically high expectations. I ordered a Small "The Lot" pizza, and was very satisfied with it – served straight from the oven, with layers of well flavoured toppings. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was clean and well lit. The beach surroundings were a bonus.

Came for an early dinner on Saturday, the atmosphere was warm and friendly while it was cold and windy outside. The staff are so friendly, helpful and accommodating, it was a pleasure to dine here with my two kids and the selection of icecream flavours for dessert was fantastic. The staff were so helpful to my kids when they went to choose their flavours independently. It was a great experience. The menu was extensive and my meal of Flathead was both generous and tasty. Look forward to our next meal here.

A bit run down compared to its former glory. Food is acceptable but not fantastic I guess. Staff are still friendly and helpful which is nice. Would like to see a bit more flair in the flavours but I guess they have to cater to everyone.

Went for a meal with my Mum and Daughter, we ordered a small prosciutto pizza, and a small Hawaiian pizza, my Mum ordered the Pollo Avocado, which was absolutely doused and flooding in garlic sauce and oil. Unfortunately not able to be consumed. The waitress asked how everything was, and we told her the pizzas were good, but the Chicken Pollo was disgusting. She couldn’t have cared less, said nothing and walked off. We paid in full for this meal and won’t be coming back. The waitress had extra long talon fake nails that must be holding all sorts of bacteria in them. For a well known Italian restaurant it was disappointing.

These were entree size servings. Bacon 🥓 and egg 🥚 roll. Wedges with cheese and bacon 🥓.

The taste of the food are very exceptional and the view of the beach are also a bonus to this restaurant. However, I feel like there is a lack of communication between staff and attentiveness but overall it was a nice experience. The waitress that was serving us was accommodating.

Came with a birthday function, ordered pork spare ribs which never arrived. Spoke to our waiter, not even a "Sorry about that" Went to pay my order (at least I got my garlic bread) and the manager (I assume) offered no apology, no offer of any reparation. Left the stinking hot restaurant vowing never to return.

Nice enough take away food but not a fan of waiting 15 mins for chips and than being informed “whoops we didn’t pass order on to cook”.. happened to a number of people in waiting line as well

Booked a table outside for a birthday lunch & will never go back. It was not busy & the wait staff especially the male waiter seemed to have no interest in serving anyone & strolled around on a complete go slow oblivious to customers at tables around him waiting to be served. When we did finally get his attention to order some drinks he got the order wrong & left my elderly mother in law sitting in the sun with no drink & not even any water on the table. It was a very hot day & one half of the table of ten was completely in the sun. When we asked if we could have the umbrella moved slightly so the table was out of the sun we were told “no sorry we can’t move the umbrellas” but no offer to move the table or of another table even though there were plenty of large shaded tables available nearby. When booking we requested a high chair which wasn’t provided but was brought over just as the meals came out after having to ask for it twice. Most of the food was average at best. The seafood pasta & garlic pizza was nice, parmas were greasy & the chicken burger was sloppy. The kids fish was chewy & way over cooked. The biggest issue was the flock of pigeons walking around (inside & outside) scavenging from the tables whilst people were eating. Whilst eating we had several birds walking under the table across our feet which terrified & disgusted us. Then the ladies on the table beside us left & another few birds were on the table picking at their leftovers whilst wait staff stood nearby chatting. That was enough for us so we all got up & left ( after paying of course) We had brought a birthday cake with us but took it home as we didn’t want to stay there for even another minute. It was so disappointing to experience all of this as we have been coming here for years with our extended family & have always been happy with the service, food quality & atmosphere. This restaurant was one of the best family eateries on the Peninsula & now it’s one of the worst if not the worst.

Nice sea side restaurant. Beautiful environment. Bit windy to sit outside. Sitting literally few cm away from the beach. Staff ok in giving service but sometimes shows some rushing attitude. Indoor nice foe family dining. Price seems different from Burwood Sofia.

The staff were fast and efficient, and the place had a really good feel to it. I had the beef burger, which was good, but not for the value. Fortunately I am not a big eater and love salads. As there was more salads than chips.

Pizza quality has dropped below satisfactory. Thin layer of cheese or toppings and base similar to frozen store bought. Pesto was good as was salad but the authentic Italian atmosphere and taste is long gone

Went there for a birthday tea to support local after they reopened after being shut down. Food was average and definitely not fresh. Oysters Kirkpatrick Luke warm soggy bacon Morton Bay bug dry not fresh ribs and shank not cooked that day garlic prawns were good steak was good spaghetti carbanorra sliced ham not bacon Fish was ok. Family Spent $300 plus and I personally would not go back there. Waitress was lovely

Always a pleasure dining here. Have taken family and friends from interstate who have enjoyed every meal. Consistent, large portions, fresh, great atmosphere. We travel from over an hour away to dine at this Sofia's. View of the bay is breathtaking at sunset!

Not to bad but closes way to early Food is average at best. Old owners had the place buzzing with great food. Not sure why its dipped so bad. Used to go almost every week even when it was under new management. But when you get told 3 times out of 5 that the kichen is closed because they are having a slow night an hour before actually kichen closing kind of put the whole family. Off Not included the they got shut down by the council Pity as its a nice location for summer night feeds.

Nice food. Loved the Margherita Pizza though it had a lot of cheese in it. Kids enjoyed the Kids meals too. Some items were a bit too salty.

only been here once and it was an emotional roller coaster. the view from the tables was stunning. i was confused about how long to wait for table service before eventually deciding to order at the counter. my meal was delicious and the waiter seemed cool. but then the guy taking the money at the end was low key disrespectful because he didn’t make eye contact or respond when i wished him a good one although he seemed engaged with the other customers before me. so i left without ordering their ice cream for dessert. not sure whether i’d recommend this place.

Despite the incredible atmosphere, the food was incredibly mediocre. The risotto was undercooked to a degree where the grains of rice would hurt and the toppings of the pizza would just fall off. Not to mention how cold the mussels were. The view of the beach was pleasant but overall the experience was horrible compared to the other Sofia branches. Not coming back.

I wasn't here long but our food was served pretty quick. The sweet potatoes were crispy and delicious. The staff were nice and friendly. Out on the deck means you have a bit of a view of the ocean and beach which is really nice.

Delicious Pizza's. Nice and hot. I gave a 5 for the atmosphere, but we actually got take away. However, it's situated on the water, so I mean?? 10/10 thank you!

Ordered a pasta dish and a smoked salmon salad. Pasta was bland and wife was sick after eating the salad. Pricey compared to other local eateries and food was below par. Wait staff were nice but we got the feeling they knew the food was terrible. Would not recommend. Seedy pizza/ pasta joint style food with restaurant prices.

Quick service and a generous plate. The staff member who served us was friendly and considerate. But I reckon playing light non lyric music (perhaps jazz or piano) would create a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere, especially in the heated outside area.

Burger was amazing, do have to say there was a friendly little pigeon wondering around inside... Don't know how I feel about that haha. Overall a pretty good place to eat out!

Very hit and miss today. I went with my boys for a Thursday night dinner. 3 meals ordered. Small pizza was great. Cabanaro Fettuccine tasted great expect that we found a large piece of shrimp in the dish. The meat grill platter was terrible. Porterhouse steak overcooked and bland. Lamb shank dry and bland. Pork ribs overcooked and bland. Checken skewers overcooked. The bacon and chips were nice. The garlic butter sauce was not a sauce but slices of garlic butter. If the food was hit enough I might have been able to melt it on the steak but no luck. I mentioned all of this to the server who did mention the shrimp to another worker who responded with "ok". No manager to speak of or any response to my feedback. Very poor quality of food and managerial service. I won't be back, not for a while unless I stay hearing that they are improving. They seam to rely on their location being on the beechfront.

Now I know we have covid 19. But went here last night. Service lousy, some staff dressed like slobs and or didn't care. Had to ask for water and cutlery and napkins. Waited for ever for our two drinks ( not alcohol ) entrees came out that was fine. Than main course came out only one of and we both ordered the same and than the one that was there not hot. When asked where there second one was nobody knew about it. When I told them not to bother with it they brought one out after I complained so sent it back. Then a dessert that tasted horrible should had been hot or aleatory warm on top. NO we only had to pay for the entree and 2 drinks. That aside the place was dirty and the overhead coverings were rusted, full of holes and dirty. Most staff were slack couldn't even pick up a used glass or plate when walking past tables or off tables being served to. Waited a while to go to this place are we going back ? NEVER

This is my first visit to Sofia's in Frankston for 10 years, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had a calamari salad that was well presented and flavoursome. The people I were with all liked their meals and staff were very accommodating to our needs.

Found this place while visiting the area and walking along the foreshore. It was a bitterly cold winter evening. The staff welcomed me warmly and were very friendly and helpful. I ordered the veal scaloppini and a glass of wine. It wasn’t fine dinning and it was a huge serve, but it was delicious and value for money. Staff made me feel really welcome and food was good, can easily recommend.

Service is fast and the food scrumptious 😋 good value for money for the budget conscious. Finnish your meal with an leisurely stroll along the Frankston board walk and peir with your favourite ice cream and just soak all the beautiful scenery and fresh sea air in .....🍦 😋 highly recommended 👌 👍

Mothers day luncheon. Was pleasing that it WASN'T a set menu and we could box up and take home any food we couldn't finish. Very good staff, super delicious food.

We came during lunch and wanted a light meal for three people. We ordered the lasagna and the Aussie pizza (large); it was more than what we could eat. Luckily they allow us to take away the leftover pizza. We could have probably done with the lasagna, and we would also be acceptable. Serving was huge.

Phenomenal experience. Top notch food, atmosphere, and wait staff. When we think about celebrations, Sofia Frankston is always our first option and it never disappoints. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding, Service was delightful and very professional. 10/10

It's a great spot but the menu and food could use some work. It gets really busy so it's understandable they cut some corners in the kitchen. From a chef perspective .But imo they have room to improve. However. The spot is great and overall it's nice.

The staff were exceptional. Very friendly and professional. The service was extremely quick, which was a nice surprise. Food was delicious. Only downside for us was 2 of our party got food poisoning from the parma strangely. It's the only food we both shared. 10hrs later we were very sick. If it wasn't for that I would give 5 stars.

  • 4/5 Sanjaya R. 5 months ago on Google
The food was great; good taste and generous portions. The atmosphere was great; right at the Frankston beach front. The service was a little bit slow though, but that's probably because they were short of staff.

A very dis-satisfying family dinner… in short returned my food a total of three times, due to it not being cooked correctly. I ordered a medium rare RibEye, around the $45 mark. Their first attempt came out well done. Second attempt, blue… blood all over the plate. Third time, almost there…. But by now blood all over my plate had destroyed my appetite. My dad and cousin had ordered the same and they both received medium rare, which was cooked to an acceptable standard... Both myself and my dad tried to get the waitress’s attention, multiple times without any luck. When we were able to get another waitress attention, I had said that I asked for a medium rare steak and that this was overcooked, she proceeded to take it away, saying she’ll have it fixed for me, about 2 minutes after she had brought back another one, waiting for me to cut into it to see how it was. The second plate of RibEyeStake was extremely undercooked basically still mowing at this point! Both my parents had then said something. At this point I had lost my appetite completely. Still in hopes for the third one to be done correctly, after they had brought it out it was still undercooked. We had it taken back again and I hadn’t even bothered ordering another meal, the manager had then came up to us to see what was wrong and I had explained everything, after our conversation he had walked off then proceeded to point at our table while talking to one of his colleagues, very unprofessional to be honest. If I could I would have given them no stars.

We had twelve people at my daughter’s birthday lunch yesterday ranging in ages from three to eighty five. It was amazing !! The wait staff were friendly and attentive, the food was all tasty and well presented with generous servings (the big boys especially the loved the parmas) We were there for at least two and a half hours, and even took our own birthday cake which they happily stored and brought out when we were ready for it. There was no rush or pressure for us to move on even though it was a busy Sunday afternoon and we’d long finished eating our lunch. I was extremely sceptical about coming back here after reading some bad reviews and having a bad experience here a couple of years ago with some birds and rude staff who were clearly not interested in serving us at all but I’m super glad I did !! Thank you so much Sofias. We will now definitely be coming back !!
