Definitely 100% recommend for any vegetarian or vegan. Lots of variety to choose from and amazing flavours! Going to start bringing family and friends here all the time. I tried the turkey-bacon club, the potato salad, and both pickle options. Loved everything! Even if you're not a vegetarian or vegan, it's still worth checking out! Hearty, filling food and worth every penny. 💗

This place is amazing! I'm not a vegan but I love trying new things and my expectations were totally surpassed today. We got quite a few things to try, my favorites were the egg salad and the lox bagel sandwich. You can tell that the egg salad is made with tofu but the flavor and texture are so spot on I'd order this again 100 times even though I regularly eat eggs. Their lox is made from carrots which works surprisingly well, I wouldn't say it tastes exactly like salmon but it's pretty darn close and you definitely don't miss the real thing. The jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese was fantastic too, you can really tell that they put care into the ingredients. Everything was high quality and super fresh! I'm only disappointed that they ran out of matzo ball soup before we ordered, but I'll definitely be going back asap. If you're a vegan with a craving for a good reuben or some lox, or if you just want to try a spin on some of your favorite Jewish classics, I'd highly recommend stopping by Ben and Esthers!!!

Absolutely in love with this place. I'll start by mentioning how awesome and nice the staff is. They were really helpful in helping me navigate my selections. Making my visit seamless and easy. As for the food, words cannot do it justice. From the flavor to the bite of the sandwich I was blown away. Everything we tried was delicious. Probably my new favorite pickles as well. Ben & Esther's is my new favorite weekend spot. I cannot get enough of that wonderful food.

This all vegan Jewish deli is a welcomed addition! I enjoyed the bagels and plain cream cheese, the chocolate babka, the New Yorker sandwich (rye bread, corned beef, Swiss, deli mustard) was awesome. Pasta and potato salad were good. A small walk up counter, no indoor seating or bathroom, very cute with nice staff, definitely check it out! It’s opening weekend and they’re new- the line today was 90 minutes plus, so maybe wait a couple weeks to check it out if patience isn’t on your schedule.

I was only in San Diego for a few days but stopped in at Ben & Esther’s twice. The turkey bacon club was delicious and massive! The person working was so nice they even gave me a free b&w cookie and a “local” discount when I said I was visiting from out of town. I went back before flying home to get the lox bagel sandwich which was WOW!!! Definitely go here for the amazing food and the best staff.

Outstanding vegan deli! I had the Reuben and my wife the Turkey Bacon Club. THE best we have had! Everything here is vegan, including the pastries, beefless jerky, pasta salads - you name it! Prices were reasonable. While this is mostly "to go" they did have several tables and chairs outside. Seriously great food! Absolutely recommend this eatery!! They also have another deli in Oceanside, which we will visit soon, too!

We stopped by on a Saturday around 9:45 AM. There is a dedicated parking lot so parking is easy and it was not very crowded. There was only 1 party in line ahead of us. There is no indoor seating but several tables available for outdoor dining. We tried the lox sandwich on an everything bagel, Benny's brisket sandwich, New Yorker sandwich, plain bagel with cardamom pear schmear, black and white cookie, and raspberry jammer cookie. The wait for the food was not long and we thought everything tasted great. We aren't vegan but wanted to try a plant based menu. Although the vegan meats were obviously not meat, we really enjoyed the sandwiches. This is quite far from where we live so we might not make the trek out there any time soon, but if you are in the area and want to try an entirely plant based menu, Ben & Esther's is worth a stop!

One of the few things that I have missed since going vegan was a good Reuben. I've tried a few around the country, but Ben and Esther's had the best by a mile. Perfectly toasted marble rye, nicely grilled "corned beef," and Russian dressing, not thousand Island. They're food is so good that my non-vegan father-in-law was raving about his BLT. The latkes were good, the "cheese" Danish was on point. Ben and Esther's is at the top of my list when I'm back in town.

The bagel sandwiches are amazing, especially the SE&C and veggie bagel, and I love that they have gluten-free options! The peanut butter brownie is also so, so good. B&W cookie is too sweet for us though and gluten-free scone was mid (but I appreciate that you guys make them). I just get so sad when it takes 30+ min for them to complete my order of two sandwiches whenever I order in-person. When I try to call ahead, 50% of the time no one answers. I like to order in-person or speak to someone before paying to make sure they have gf bagels left. Overall quality of service has improved a lot since they opened! The long wait times are just unfortunate. Also very pricey, but they provide a unique experience for vegans.

Some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. We tried the bacon egg and cheese, the lizzo, the Bensonhurst, the lox, black and white cookie, the Rugelach, and challah French toast special. We came two days out of the 3 days we spent in San Diego. Everything was 10/10. The French toast and Bensonhurst were my favorites but I have to give props to that lox, a little too saucy/oily for me to like on my bagel but by itself it’s truly extraordinary. The bagels alone really impressed us and we are New Yorkers so we know good bagels. I came for the black and white cookie and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The only thing that angers me is this place opened up right by my old apartment AFTER I moved from San Diego to the east coast… if this would have been around during my 5 years living there… mannnnn…..

Fantastic sandwiches, and a huge fan of the latke. I had the Rueben and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. The potato salad was a miss for me unfortunately, I make a much better one at home :(

My favorite breakfast stop on my way to SDSU! Their meaty & cheesy bagel sandwiches are so convincing I've brought all my non-vegan friends here with me and it blew their minds! It's so incredibly nice to have a local restaurant that cares about the animals and the earth!

The person at the counter that took my order was really great and helpful. The egg, cheese, and bacon bagel is great. It was my first time trying a Knish so not sure if the mashed potato on the inside is supposed to be really dense and dry, but that's what mine tasted like. I'd get the bagel sandwiches again but I couldn't recommend the Knish.

This was my first time visiting. Service was slow. I ordered a reuben sandwich because they were out of almost all the bagel choices. It was pricey at almost $17 + a tip, but came out relatively quickly and piping hot. I don’t know if anything is actually made in house (would love to know what is scratch ) because it was pretty greasy, the deli meat was somewhat sparse and shredded compared to a traditional one, and did not taste freshly home made. I also did not receive a pickle at all. :( Overall it was still delicious, although i am on the fence about visiting again.

When I discovered there was a vegan Jewish deli in town, I got all excited and galloped on down to give it a try. I fondly recalled this wonderful vegan deli in the Silverlake region of LA that I used to frequent and have missed ever since moving down here. I ordered the New Yorker, which is corned beef, swiss and deli mustard on marble rye and it was just "meh". It didn't really taste like or have the texture of corned beef. In fact, the sandwich was so salty and boring, I ended up throwing 3/4 of it away-- not because it was bad or anything, I just didn't see any point to eating it. Disappointing to drop $15 for something that ended up in the trashcan. It's possible I ordered the one thing on the menu that they don't do well, so I plan to go back and try something else and will update my review accordingly. Service was friendly, and the place was clean and fresh looking. Take out only with a couple of tables outside.

The foods good if you need a sandwich fix without the guilt! Great bread. Never saw mustard on a turkey club tbh. I went again in the AM and I would not recommend the bacon egg and cheese sandwich. They don’t even put sauce on it lol. Very dry and I just ate it because I was starving lol. I’m from New York and I don’t know how they are selling a sandwich like this for over $10. Like it’s literally just tofu, the fake bacon and some vegan cheese. The customer service is good, but food is hella over priced.

Holy YUM! As a Long Island native this place made me feel right at home! Wow! I tried the Lizzo and wow! It was so good! My boyfriend got the Bensonhurst which was also yummy (more fresh and light than the Lizzo which was hot and smoldery) and the strawberry jammer was also just wow. So overall - yes. And they have a gluten free bagel which was like WOW! Very impressed. Highly recommend!

Been looking forward to their grand opening for months, and glad we got to go on Jan 1st to welcome them to the neighborhood! We got the Lox Bagel Sandwich on an everything bagel, the Benny's Brisket, a black & white, jammers, and a half sour pickle. We enjoyed everything, especially the desserts! Omg we could just eat 3927272 of those jammers. The texture of their black & white is similar to a ladyfinger cookie, but I still enjoyed it! :) Will definitely get a simple bagel w/ schmear next time!!

Service was friendly, overheard the checkout answering questions about the bacon being vegan and not from an animal, they were genuinely nice to person. There is no seating inside but early in the morning there are plenty of seats outside at the folding tables. I had the sausage egg and cheese breakfast bagel, it was made to order, piping hot, the flavors on point the only thing was it seemed a little salty. I'll be back again to try a dinner sandwich and one of the dill pickles.
