Our favourite place in Galle, by far! Every time we are amazed by the quality of the food, drinks and service. This definitely deserves 5 stars. The butter chicken blew my mind, and the aglio olio pasta is exceptional. Highly recommended!

The Bungalow is hidden gem away from all the hustle and bustle of the Dutch Fort. Went there for lunch. The staff was amazing and was very attentive. The food was delicious and was served without delay. We ordered the grilled prawns and the tapas platter. It was phenomenal and no complains. The ambience was great, it was peaceful and had an old world charm to the location that resonates with the history of the Dutch fort. Hoping to visit the Bungalow soon. 👍👍

This a beautiful restaurant. Carefully selected antiques, color themes and ornaments. Got served by Shanuka which is so great, he was the only one who was available there that day and yet had the same enthusiasm and energy. Also should mention Kavindu who always there with a happy smile. The layout reminds me of the gallery cafe but the restaurant has it own taste which seamlessly blend outdoor and indoor. Can’t wait to go again! I find the coffees are comparatively bit too expensive. Also I’d like it more if the pavlova was served with more fruits, not only with passion fruit.

Food was quite amazing. Service was great. Location is convenient. Ambiance is amazing too. Tempura was my favourite. Also their salad was amazing but they diced their onion, big diced onion… tuna steak was okay. But gonna comeback and try their other food.

Good service, plenty of space, good vibe, food is ok, there are options for vegetarians. Ok selection of drinks. There is no parking inside. But there is street parking. Roads that lead to this place are one way traffic lanes with larrow gap. Something to keep in mind. There is no trouble parking after 8 pm in weekdays. The staff is ultra friendly and proffesional. There is plenty of seating outside and inside. The building itself has a very nice interior design with a touch of colonial tropical modernism reminiscent of Late work of Bawa brothers

Servics was exceptional. Specially Thimantha was very friendly and treated us so well. Food and ambiance was amazing. 100% recommended.

This is a brand new hotel and restaurant in Galle Fort as of Jan 2018. I originally booked to stay for 2 nights but had such a wonderful time at this hotel, I extended my stay another night. The service was outstanding and the staff were very friendly and helpful, I felt right at home. On arrival I was given a cold face towel and an ice lolly which was much appreciated after my trip. The rooms are beautiful and stylishly furnished with air con and an extremely comfortable bed. The shower is the best one I had all trip. Breakfast was excellent with a selection of dishes to choose from. I ate at the restaurant on my last night and wish I had eaten there earlier on. The meals were well presented and tasted amazing. There was a good mix of dishes and drinks on the menu. I am glad I stayed here, it was the perfect end to an amazing trip. Thanks!

For this restaurant I would love to come back to Sri Lanka. We had an amazing lunch on the last day of the year. We wanted to come for diner, but it was fully booked. So we went for lunch and that we are very happy about. We had the BEST fresh tuna tartare EVER! It was so good! Also the pasta and soup were lovely. The service is excellent and the cocktailmaker is wonderfull at his job. The only downside is that the food was'nt served together. So when the first finished their meals, the last ones just got their plates. But nevertheless... This is a place you sure want to visit when in Galle!

Our waiter was Thimantha, he was so polite and friendly. He attended to all our questions and requests. He wanted to ensure that we enjoyed the food and our experience at the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and they were good portions, leaving me feeling very full. My partner and I shared the mushroom wontons and the crispy prawns (I honestly could have eaten more, they were yummy). For my main I had the prawn curry… wish I could have asked for the recipe, absolutely delicious. Was definitely value for money and we enjoyed the cocktails too.

We were there for dinner yesterday and thank God we got a table (reservation is not possible). The food tasted very good and the service and ambience were wonderful. Everyone was very attentive, quick and friendly without being intrusive. This created a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The price is absolutely fair (by European standards, certainly on the more expensive side locally!) and if we were here longer we would come back.

We ate at the restaurant and ordered main and cocktails. The food was elegantly prepared and the tuna steak we ordered was cooked according to preference. The cocktails were also great - they didn’t skimp out on the alcohol so we felt it was a fair price. We also wanted to play a dice game in the lobby while we had our drinks and the staff were very accommodating. Good place to go for a more expensive night out.

The place had a great interior, and the stuff was very friendly. When it comes to food you could tell that everything was fresh but most of the dishes were unfortunately blunt. The piece of tuna used for the tartare was superior but I would recommend marinating it in some kind of sauce so there is more flavor to it. Butter chicken was fantastic though!

We had a grilled seafood platter and it was good. The portion is not very generous considering the price you pay. The Pineapple Fritters was ok but the Vanilla ice cream scoop was so tiny. However, the service was top notch. Well the place has a good vibe, has an open courtyard with beautiful decor and a terrific ambience.

This is a lovely little hidden gem, it has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive! We stopped in for a drink and a snack mid-afternoon and it was busy but there were still plenty of tables, I get the impression however this place would be much busier for dinner and would recommend a reservation. My only niggle was, as relaxing as the atmosphere was, some "instagrammers" spotted it on their way past and proceeded to not only repeatedly enter the restaurant take selfies and walk back out, but they done much of this in front of a mirror immediately behind where we were sitting, despite my discomfort the management watched on, confused it appeared by what was happening, yet done nothing!! One instgrammer turned into three and before we knew they were videoing themselves, and us, hands in the air without a care in the world - very off putting and because of the relaxed management with this we never came back for dinner! They were asked to leave eventually but we up and left at this point too! So disappointing as this is a gorgeous little place and exactly the type of place we would come back to again and again!

Honestly, I can’t understand such grateful reviews. Certainly, it’s a very atmospheric place with wonderful vibes, perfect service and cool cocktails. But when it comes to food - it’s ordinary. From the whole order no dish satisfied us. Not bad but not delicious as we had expected. Vietnamese Prawn Salad was big portion of iceberg lettuce with 6 small prawns. Crispy calamari wasn’t crispy, just ordinary butter fried calamari. Mushroom soup was ordinary soup.. So you understand) It’s A great place for spending good evening, but not with gourmet satisfaction.

What a wonderful restaurant! Very stylish design with good food at reasonable prices. We were lucky enough to have Shanuka as our waiter who was amazingly friendly and helpful. Must visit while in Galle

Great spot in Galle fort. Ambiance was top notch. An open Dutch-styled villa with semi-exposed walls. Food was good. Portions a bit small but taste made up for it. A bit pricey, but thats expected with the current economic situation. More tourists are needed here for sure!

Really had a very nice evening here in Dec 22. I enjoyed a quality past and my husband had a lovely prawn curry. Very good food! Also super friendly and helpful staff, our little son was running around and they were not concerned by it and actually played with him/looked after him. Very enjoyable experience!

We had an amazing dinner at the Bungalow. Very well trained staff, a great selection of wines and fabulous meal creations gave us a top of the line dining experience. Our waiter Ismael was professional about how the food was presented and topped our wine up at perfect moments. Thank you for a highly memorable night out.

Strategically located inside the beautiful Galle Fort, this ex-colonial Dutch house is today a small boutique hotel. After a warm welcome by the amazing staff (also the "secret recipe" welcome drink was great), we have been accommodated in room no.6 (at the first floor), which is very nicely decorated but a bit noisy because of the air conditioning system. In the room, there is no mini fridge (I think it should be very useful, considering the hot external temperatures) and lights are maybe too dimmed (moreover, there is only a very small window but, must also admit, on the other hand, that this helps to create a nice atmosphere). Bathroom is pretty spacious and luminous, with all the amenities you expect to find in an hotel of this range/level/price. Food is delicious. We had dinner and breakfast here. By the record, the restaurant is one of the best rated in Galle. To keep in mind also the fact that the property does not have a liquor licence, even if guests are allowed to bring in their own alcohol without being charged for the corkage. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal here! the staff were very friendly and helpful and so welcoming. The food came out quickly and we could watch it being made from our table. we just loved loved loved it! Thanks guys for doing such a great job!

Great place within galle fort. Very calm and peaceful place. Restaurant is very nicely arrange. High quality food prepared by skilled staff. Rooms are large, clean with authentic touch. Bathrooms are also large and well maintained. 10 minutes walk from Galle town. Currently only 7 rooms available so better to plan ahead. Staff is skilled and friendly. Great place to stay and enjoy the authenticity of Dutch fort.

It was wonderful lunch do I to us! Tilina was great reccomending the best dishes. The service was fast as we requested, really satisfied and would recommend to anyone, fantasic value for money!

We had a fabulous lunch here, great food and service. The crab curry was exceptional, but all 3 meals were great. Icy cold beer and glass of Aussie chardonnay, with a delicious meal served. by lovely staff . Yep I will go back next time I am lucky enough to be In Galle.

Please guys trust me.. DO NOT expect any sort of sweet experience here. Especially when you call for a reservation and once you go there, all the promises and expectations go nowhere.. definitely they would say due to some silly reasons, we cannot offer what we promised..I MEAN AT LEAST A LITTLE PIECE OF SIMPLE FOOD.. purely some sort of frustrating moment.. experienced this on 28 June 2022.. maybe they've done a good job earlier but not at present.. Then we went to THE MERCHANT @ Galle Fort... Simply 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Delicious food and great staff! The tuna tartare and chicken soup starters and tuna steak main were delicious and very good portion sizes. The calamari starter was ok but with more batter and softer than we would have liked. The fish curry could have more spices if you are used to Sri Lankan cuisine. It was well worth the visit to this stunning location with super attentive and friendly staff.

Unassuming from the outside but really swanky within. A bit more modern than some of the other places we ate in the Galle area and a bit pricier. The staff were really helpful and none of the food disappointed.

We run into this restaurant walking through Galle and had our best dining experience in Sri Lanka. Started with a great drink under the wonderful tree in the courtyard, then moved to our table for a huge fish platter to share: fried calamari, lobster, crab, shrimps, fish and much more. Finished with a lovely Pavlova as dessert, then moved again under the tree for the last drink. Everything was perfect, attention for details and super high level service. Fair price, definitely recommended.

"Fresh fish" was surprisingly fried, overdone, too dry and quite small... on the other hand I liked the sauce, drinks and service... overall somewhere in the middle, on photos it looks better then it really is...

A little bit underwhelmed when we ate dinner here last night. The service was good, our waiter was friendly and prompt. The food however was quite disappointing and lacked flavour / spice.

Loved it here. This place is on a quiet side street inside the fort, has a open and airy dining area and the rooms are all facing a courtyard. Staff were very friendly, the room was very comfortable, clean and cool. Excellent shower and bathroom too. Enjoyed breakfast and an evening meal here. Will be returning next time we are in Galle

Hidden gem of a restaurant in a nice looking hotel. Everything we ordered was excellent (especially the lamb main). No kids menu, but the staff was proactive in offering options the chef could make for our toddlers. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

Great Start for a datenight. Awesome atmosphere: Lounging under a big tree, with lots of cooling fans and refreshing drinks along relaxed contemporary music. Fried Wontons are highly recommended! 👌🏽👌🏽

Nice boutique Hotel with an excellent location. Close to the city gates and far at the same time from the noisy and busy streets. Sadly no good views. Rooms are very comfy but lacking fridges for your cold drinks.. and you can hear the noises of people walking to their rooms and the staff.... etc.

Great vibe, good food and very welcoming staff. Food tasted fine, we had the paneer masala and Ismail, the manager even took care to bring the dish divided into 2 portions already. Definitely recommend visiting the place.

Все было идеально. Everything was perfect. Food, interior and service. bad entrance. I would definitely pass by this place if not for the waiter Thimantha. And he was my waiter. He invited me outside to go to the Bungalow. I am very happy about this. Enjoyed the food.

We went twice for dinner. Nice cosy place. Beautiful garden. Beverages took us to another level. I had the one with pineapple ginger and coconut milk which is highly recommended. Coffee was great too. Dinner was lovely. As starters we had wantons, calamari rings and potato chips. Crispy served with sauce and salad. We had chicken wrap, meats balls and fried prawns and butter chicken. Good portions reasonably priced. Really enjoyed.

Was extremely underwhelming experience on food. Food items were under seasoned and the BBQ lacked flavor and is quite bland. You definitely don't get what you pay for. But the staff were very polite and professional. Great atmosphere where the ambiance music was quite nice. But unfortunately the food was a massive letdown.

Cocktails are great! Rather expensive, but the atmosphere and drinks were worth it. The only part I would like to change were paper straws, they give there own taste and not a very pleasant one. Metal straws would be much better and more sustainable.

Excellent service and delicious meals...the service was very personal (especially from Ismail) - there weren't any other customers (COVID-19 restrictions...) but our family were treated to a quiet, peaceful lunch...😋...

We were here with my wife on 01.02.2024. We took two cocktails: Jungle Folly and Vervena. Cocktails were delicious. Everything is good here. You can hide here of the sun. Personal is very courteous. Ismail was working with us. Very nice person. He was always near us and ready to help. Drinks arrived quickly. I recommend this place to everyone.
