Mixed feelings about this place. Pro: village atmosphere surrounded by nature with easy-going attidude. Cooking station, drinking water and washing machine available. Free bicycles are available. Con: some things don't seem to be important to the owner. The internet is virtually non-existent and just enough to write simple messages. You can forget work or anything else. Sometimes other guests are extremely loud and slam the doors. Here you could ensure that the noise level is dampened with the help of pads in the door frames. Cleaniness of toilets and showers is medium. The selective treatment of guests is very questionable. There was a long-term guest staying there as well during my visit. He held a BBQ every evening and got drunk, so he became aggressive towards other guests. The guest confiscated the community area for himself and scared me and other guests with his loud music, and his aggressive and disgusting behavior so we moved to the smaller community area. Some guests have spent nights outside their own rooms to avoid the strange guest, as they could not sleep in peace or were simply afraid of the aggressive behavior. The owner completely tolerated that and was in no way interested in the concerns of his other guests, who regularly complained to him. There were some dangerous situations in which other guests asked the aggressive gentleman about his behavior and there were almost physical altercations. The host put himself in front of the aggressive guest in a justifying and protective manner and sent the other guests away. He preferred to have dinner with that guest rather than throwing him out as every other sincere host would do! Several guests left early because there was no improvement in this unacceptable situation. The tolerance of the owner is extremely frivolous here and he is putting the safety and welfare of the other guests at risk.

We really enjoyed staying here. The beds are good and comfortable, the bathrooms are very simple but good. A cold shower is quite wonderful in the heat. The communal living area is really good, tables, settees, books, cooking facilities. There is a washing machine, washing powder and airers to dry washing on. The gardens are nicely set out. Tea and coffee and a hot water machine, cold water also. Tony was very friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of eating places and shops within walking distance.

Tony is a great host. Everything about this place is just the way it should be. In the common area you will probably find some like-minded people as you are (I assume that you are a backpacker exploring the area). We stayed for 7 days and almost all people that were staying there were nice and willing to talk about their trips. The fact that Tony provides free bikes is awesome, walking takes a lot of time. Just check the seat of the bike you are taking, some bikes have seats that will move once you start riding. We also got free lychees during our stay.

Stayed here a little week. The owner is a sweet man ready to help. The place is quiet and clean. Free fruits and coffee available in the kitchen. Definitely the best place I've stayed in Malaysia. Enjoy your stay

The location is a bit secluded which is ideal as the area is not as hot as town area. Plenty of parking. There's fan only and air conditioning rooms and we've tried both. The toilet is communal but within the building itself, as such there's no worries of going out of the building at nite. Rooms are clean and Tony is very friendly and always around. Wifi is fast and there's plenty of seat to relax at the lounge area. I like the place as its rather secure for my car and not parked like besides the road etc. Very close to Escape and the national park. Highly recommended.

Super place to stay and chill. Really nice host in an amazing place. Near the national park and very close to the center of the village (with convenience store, local food, etc) and the sea. Tony the very friendly and helpful owner provides free bicycle which makes it even faster and easier to ride around. He picked us up at the bus stop (Bus 101) which is 15mn walk from there. Rooms are comfy and spacious with great pillows, mattress and nets on the windows. No ac, but it's not a problem at all with the fan. Free water is available as are biscuits, tea and coffee. Kitchen, fride and cooking stuff are also free to use. The place and the bathroom are clean. There's also a nice place to chill in the shade with couch and tables. Place is so nice that we even extended our stay! You couldn't find a better place. Definitely a big recommendation from us.

Thank you for keeping my backpack while I was at the national park. The location is quite immersed in nature but close enough to the city using the free bicycles. Complimentary rambutan as well. My single room’s price was 40RM without AC. Spacious and very nice common area. Tony is a helpful host.

Great place for the price. Nothing to do there except extreme chilling out or the national park. Bring your favorite food and drinks. Shops are few not close. Free washing machine, no hot shower. Quiet

That place has great vibe. You can meet there travelers every day and it feels like hostel. Furthemore you can cook there, laundry and enjoy bikes to explore. Overnight stay is recommended on Monkey beach as getaway place. I was lucky to meet amazing people and have great talks.

If you want to escape cityscape, this is the place. Has a lot of greenery and is very quiet. Overall a very chill vibe. Tony is also a great advisor and a cool dude.

Such a beautiful and chilled place. You're located in the middle of green and the nationalpark is right before your door. Tony is a calm and always friendly guy, who helps you, wherever it is possible (e.g loosing your key in the Nationalpark). I've really enjoyed the stay at this backlayed and beautiful place.

Very relaxing spot to hang out in for a few days. Tony is great, very welcoming and provides free bikes, free laundry and drinking water. The bedrooms and communal area have all the basics. It's close to the national park, the beach and ESCAPE Penang theme park, as well as lots of little eateries. We'd definitely come back.

this place was such a good experience! very clean, relaxed atmosphere and we could cook and do laundry. the bed was so confortable. yes, it is a modest place, but very well maintained. the common area was perfect to knowing other travellers. i found a very good book in the book swap area. Tony brings fresh fruit from his farm. everyone was respectful and noone slammed the doors. i saw some reviews about people complaining about slamming doors, maybe that is why now it is written everywhere "please do not slam the doors"...and everyone respected that. Tony is so helpful and I could see he was doing his best to make us feel at home in his place! the mosquito nets in the windows and the bicycles was definitely a plus!!! the water filter was actually working, the water tasted good:)

Backpacker's paradise. The only place near Penang National Park you can stay very cheap but with very basic comfort level. Only 1 room had AC, but I stayed only 1 night of 2 booked and paid and then ran away due to the strong smell of dried shrimp or some other stinky food in a room. Can't stand that smell. But in general it's a good and friendly place for short stay in backpacker's style. They provide free bicycles, but it takes half of the day to walk everywhere around - all tourist attractions are very nearby and 30 minutes walkable.

Tony was great. He shared his fresh homegrown bananas 🍌 papayas and other various fruits with us and everyone there as well as tea and coffee. We had good conversations where he told me about his old life as a championship fish breeder before he opened the hostel. The common area is open and breezy with beautiful sounds and animals all over (in a good way)! There is no hot water but it’s also very cheap. Although there are free bikes provided all the ones i used broke on my way back. It’s best if you grab or have a motorbike of your own. It was relaxing staying here. He also has books you can take if you like. Awesome guy and awesome place 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Really perfect location, the national park is easy to get to especially with the free bikes provided. The room was comfortable, and Tony seems very kind - he gave us papaya and laundry is also available for free! We were worried about finding vegetarian food but there were options in town and also 2 kitchens available at the guesthouse with everything we needed. We had a lovely stay!

Pros: free fruit (if season), coffee, tea, drinking water and use of bikes. Big open relax area to sit or chill. There’s a refrigerator which you can use and a washing machine with plenty of dry racks(if people would hang up more tidy..) Price is OK for a double bedroom. Area around is nice, green and lush. Good for relaxing after a big city. Cons: the WiFi was terrible. Even when no people were around it would constant kick you out. Speedtest said a 150kbs/down!! Couldn’t even send WhatsApp messages just terrible. Toilet/combi showers were quite dirty. Drains clogged with hairs and stuff people left (cigarette filters???) toilet paper was out of stock too and we had to ask for new. There’s supposedly a guy checking for these things but wasn’t. Oh and the showers are cold water only so beware. Beds were basic, but dirty blanket and pillows. Rooms had a windows towards the hallway opposite of each other. So when our neighbour had its lights on till 4 am it would bright up our whole room..

😠 Got bed bugs from this place and carried them to my next location. Dorm was rundown and full of stuff, seemed like a dumping ground for bits and pieces around the hostel. Location was decent and lockers were provided but would not recommend. Spend a little bit extra and stay somewhere else.
