We came here the day after they re-opened having had a £1.5 million refurbishment. The interior is fantastic, offering a pleasant atmosphere with tons of late Victorian/Edwardian East End character. We ate a meal in the Billiards Hall which boasts a stunning stained glass roof and wonderful table booths. Whilst the menu could offer more variety, the food was decent but in need of a little fine-tuning. I think they will get this with more feedback and practice. Drinks were lovely though and perhaps a little more expensive than other local pubs but it's obvious, they are keen on a more affluent clientele here which is understandable. I would highly recommend coming here for the experience. Staff were attentive and friendly. We're going back for Sunday dinner! Edit: Since my initial review, we have visited several times seeing as this is our local. I just wanted to add (including the photos) the Sunday roasts are to die for. Really worth coming here just for those. No, seriously! Edit 2: Since my updated review, visited here again for Sunday roast recently and whilst the staff remain pleasant and attentive, the food quality has taken a massive nose-dive. Really limited menu on Sundays and the food like roast potatoes seemingly reheated or left for quite some time and served.

Best roast of 2022 without a shadow of a doubt, chef delivered to the highest of standards. Special mention to the honey glazed pigs in blankets 😍 Bloody Mary’s were delightful too - excellent Sunday

Really a jewel in Upton Park. Pleasant staff, interesting decor...well like a real pub!, kitchen and tables in the back. Has been in here for decades and was refurbish a couple of years ago. It's about a 10 minute walk from Upton park tube station. In my humble opinion the best pub in Upton Park / East Ham. If your meeting for drinks, or just fancy a quiet drink, this is the pub to go to.

Amazed at how well this placed has been restored. It is now a nicer pub than it ever was before. Nice choice of bears, comfortable seats, all the wooden bar areas are beautiful. The food area is classy, there are great photos on the wall and a quirky/interesting (free) jukebox. We only had a buffet due to the time we arrived, but it was great enough to make me want to go back and have a proper meal. I will be returning... I returned for Sunday Lunch and I was not disappointed. I had a glorious pork belly served with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and cabbage. All delicious. This really is high end stuff, not cheap, but definitely with it.

Finally Upton Park has a lovely place where to eat and drink. The food is gorgeous, the newly refurbished pub is fresh, is clean, is something that was really missing before in the area! I definitely recommend a lunch or a dinner in the billiard room, with the astonishing skylight, a delight for the eyes and taste buds. The staff is friendly and welcoming. 5 well deserved stars

Great pub, very well renovated. Beer choice is good. Food was OK, but service was lacking (server not really listening to us). Good atmosphere

We spent two weeks in London on vacation. This was by far the best pub we visited in terms of ambiance, service and food quality.

AMAZING PLACE FOR FOOD AND DRINK (MAIN COURSES £10 - £15 👍) - ☑️ great bar area with lots of seating ☑️ really friendly staff in the bar and the restaurant ☑️ great for a casual drink or lunch or dinner ☑️ great supply of local beers, lagers and winds ☑️ outside seating plentiful in the summer ☑️ magnificent restaurant, with original private boost still in place! ☑️ very well priced, most main courses between £10 and £15! (See pictures of menu) ☑️ well worth a visit when you’re in the area

Beautiful heritage pub with a rich history. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Especially Katie, who advised us on the choice of beer and gave us a brief history lesson about the area. The pub itself was refurbished. It is clean. The Fish and chips were delicious, and the portion was huge! 5 Stars!

I’ve not been here for a long, long time. The last time I was in here it was before a West Ham match at The Boleyn Ground. Even then I recall it being a special place - it felt like history. Since the refurb, I’m sure there were plenty of “it’s not like before” - but regardless, it feels like history still. There’s an overarching feeling of walking into the Boleyn that ekes out this reminiscence of Victorian-era public houses. The surrounding area may be changing, modernising, but this pub still feels like an old haunt. The food is lovely, the dining room bathed in glorious natural light. The bar has nooks and crannies, and there’s a selection of beers, wines and spirits to keep anyone’s appetite whetted. Long live the Boleyn!

The Boleyn, where to start? A great London pub in Plaistow. Cavernous inside around an island bar. Quirky and well presented with an eclectic range of beers on offer, both keg and cask. Great service from the friendly bartender. Was this Anne Boleyn's local before the Tower, hope so! Great pub with great people and beer, what more could you ask for?

What a wonderful and interesting find!! It is almost palatial with a beautiful restaurant room with booths and a cosy traditional main pub with some private areas. Super beer selection. Good food. Good service. I should probably say a must for any West Ham United fan, I am not one of those.. but there are plenty of memories and treasure for any fan of the club.

What a wonderful place! We were met with first class hospitality. Even given a guided tour of the pub and learned all about its history. The Victorian dukebox was really special and the Landlord even played it for us. Not normally a lager drinker I tried a pint of the Boleyn lager and it was absolutely delicious! Would definitely return and certainly recommend.

Just had a lovely experience at the Boleyn Tavern. Staff were super friendly and competent and I ate a delicious meal of whitebait and chips. I was on blackcurrant and lemonade today but they also have an excellent selection beers.

The architectural revitalisation of this pub is fantastic. It's a brilliant renovation. Covid and cost of living pressures came at a bad time but these guys are creating a good atmosphere in a great building. It's a great place for social get togethers. Above all the regular bar staff are top notch. Friendly and welcoming but with enough east end grounding to know how to make this place accessible to all. Decent cask ales (always two or three on tap) and a good selection of lagers and other drinks. Give this place your custom and keep pubs alive!

🚇 Upton Park 🍺 £5.40 Pillars Pilsner ❤️ One of London’s most majestic pubs. . The Boleyn Tavern is located on the junction of Green Street and Barking Road in East Ham. The nearest tube is Upton Park which is a five minute walk away. This pub is just a stone’s throw away from what was West Ham’s old stadium the Boleyn Ground, opposite the pub is the World Cup Sculpture celebrating Englands win in the 1966. . This pub was built in 1899 and is Grade II listed. This pub is a magnificent four storey structure which underwent a recent £1.5m renovation and reopened in June 2021. This pub is run by Remarkable Pubs who own some of the finest pubs across London. . The aim of the refurb was to restore this pub to its original Victorian Gin Palace grandeur and boy have they done an amazing job. The original seven bars have been reinstated and are divided by stunning wooden and etched glass screens. At the centre of all this grandeur is the horseshoe bar which has exquisite wood detailing and columns. At the rear of the pub is a striking dining area which has a breathtaking glass canopy. Throughout the pub our homages to its West Ham United’s heritage. . The beer line up is vast and diverse with 25 brews to choose from. After a bit of a wander around the taps I decided on a pint of Pillars Pilsner which is brewed by @pillarsbrewery in nearby Walthamstow. I really enjoyed my beer and price point was good. The food menu is all about pub classics, Fish & Chips is very reasonably priced at £13.50. This pub has a strong roast game on Sundays. . I visited midday on a Friday afternoon, there were a dozen or so punters dotted around the various bars. The atmosphere was relaxed with a eclectic funky soul soundtrack playing in the background. The service was good, the lady behind the bar was nice and had everything under control. . This pub used to be a massive footy pub and a bit rough around the edges. Much like other pubs around football grounds across London, these pubs have had to improve their offering to customers who visit on the other thirteen days until the next home match or they won’t survive. . The @boleyntaverne6 is an absolutely magnificent boozer and one I won’t forget in a hurry. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 18/11/22

Stumbled on this establishment after our time at the who store. And boy was I glad. Had one of the best salads ever. And the Boleyn lager was great too.

Stunning victorian interiors and a wide range of draft lagers, pales and pilsner. 4 casks on when I visited and great music from a CD juke box (Bowie, Prince, Dire Straights etc). Worth popping in for a half to wonder around each of the rooms; feels like it would be worth sticking around for the night to try all the beers.

Went here on a trip from peterborough to see our son and daughter in law, been looking forward to it since it has been done up. The truly traditional makeover is brilliant, little snugs, great choice of beers, staff so friendly and dog friendly, even a nice traditional fireplace. Not normally a sports pub as such I an told even though though back to the days of the West Ham games, but FIFA World Cup screened at the moment. We all had a meal too, not Michelin but it is pub grub after all , the Chicken Kiev was not good, Pork chops great and fish and chips average.. however just a great experience and place overall.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I expected more from this place. The look of the place itself suggested much more than what we got there. Unfortunately the glass in which the drink was served was dirty. It wasn't washed well, or it wasn't washed at all. This should not be allowed in a place like this. I wasn't convinced by this place, I think won't go there again...

Me and my husband went here on a date. I can't believe we have never gone here before for food! We loved it! The fish and chips was delicious and a lot bigger than expected. My husband enjoyed his burger as well and the service was lovely too! Highly recommend this place for food and drink👌

We went to this pub when it first opened a few months ago, went back today again for a Sunday roast and I can only say they've gotten even better. Delicious food (that gravy and those Yorkshire Puddings! Plus really amazing perfectly cooked veggies) and great atmosphere. Special mention to Mark - great barman, extra friendly, helping to clear tables, fantastic service all round. This pub is a delight and just what is needed in this area!

Absolutely beautiful pub, inside and out. Just stunning. The food is delicious with a menu of classics made very well, and the service is friendly. They also seem to show some sports (they were posters up some Rugby match showings) though I’ve not been for sport before. Highly recommend this place.
