4.5 really. Some of the other reviews have been really helpful here because there are no instructions when you enter. - seat yourself at a table. Sometimes communal tables. - eventually someone comes by and asks if you want 250ml beer from a tray. Tab is kept by marks on one person's coaster. You can also order a different bottle if you know what you want. - empty glasses will periodically and automatically be refilled unless you tell them otherwise - you can order food if you let them know. They didn't ask when we went. - cash only. Waiter came over to settle when we were done by putting coaster on glass (another review mentioned this, and the waiter seemed to recognize this). Expect a really laid back, hands off, roughish and casual ambience. Indoor decor was tasteful and reflected local culture.

A must do for bier drinkers in Düsseldorf! There is a process to drinking Altbier, (outside) waiters walk around with a tray of beer filled glasses, put one in front of you on a coaster, slash mark the coaster and continue til you have had enough. The bier origin is from the area and very light so you may have many slash marks! A vinegar hard boiled egg is a specialty eaten while drinking, my waiter taught me the proper way - You peel and cut the egg in half, mix the yolk in mustard, oil, vinegar and put back in the white halves. In and outside dining, outside tables can be communal. Excellent service!

Visited on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy, although the weather was awful in mid-November 2023. Quite a diverse crowd with a lot of tourists as it's deep in the Altstadt and in a beautiful old building. Typical Altbier service where they come around with a tray of freshly poured glasses of beer and tick your coaster. Easy to discern the difference in quality between this and Schumacher, as that's where I had just come from, but still quite good. Downed several glasses in their more open and brighter back room and grabbed a 0.33L long-necked bottle of Doppelsticke for €2 on the way out.

One of the well known pubs in Duesseldorf. The beer was nice but don't expect good service here, also they only accept cash. The lamb shank was very well cooked and moist. Fhe goat cheese salad was super nice as well. The portions are huge, so one lamb shank is enough for two.

A bit of intimidating when you first enter or are looking for a table because no one gives you any information or guidance. You basically just find a table and sit down and without ordering the beers keep coming unless you say otherwise. Pretty interesting concept. Cool spot where you can drink and chill without anyone bothering you. The beer is super cheap and it tastes good.

The most unique experience I've ever had! The main tip here is to be brave, pass the people drinking outside, enter the place and sit yourself. So the 5 stars is not because it's the best restaurant ever, but because you get exactly what you're looking for...a true German experience (or at least I thought so). A bit awkward when going solo as all tables where in groups...but I enjoyed myself very much! It helped to look at the reviews and have in mind what you want.

Typical dark beer from Düsseldorf called Aftbeer ( old beer), this place is one of the popular ones serving this beer. Here they serve 200ml per glass and keep serving you until you stop them. Although dark the taste is nice and not so strong. The ambience is authentic and quite lively, definitely need to try if you are in Düsseldorf.

Amazing authentic German food and generous portions. Do not miss spaetzle with fried onions, simply awesome. Unique atmosphere and feeling, the perfect place for socializing and drinking good beer with friends. The staff is nice and friendly too. Prices definitely fair. Located in Altstadt - one of the traditional and busy places in Düsseldorf, Uerige offers a great local and the most known beer around: Alt. It’s common to just sit on the table outside and wait for someone to bring you a beer - and they do not stop until you say so. Great experience if you are into beers. They also have some typical German food in their menu.

Place full of atmosphere whether you are inside or out. This time we were here over a long weekend with the weather great, outside was busy by midday and heaving by 4pm, but it is all friendly, good natured, have fun attitude. And of course there is the beer - excellent Altbier, which is why we came here!

Nice place with good beer, they brew their own typical beer. They go around and keep bringing you cold beer as soon as you finish one. Remember, to stop them, you need to place the cup holders on top of the glass. It is often crowded but you can find place anyway

This traditional brewpub is conveniently located in the city center. While I've had better altbier in Dusseldorf, the one they serve here felt slightly flat. However, the ambiance more than compensates for it.

Uerige! Altbiers unceremoniously slapped onto the table, one after an another, bills chalked up on a coaster, simple heart food to hold the beers, and goregous rooms, this is THE place to go in Düsseldorf! I just love it, you won't regret it.

Complete tourist trap. The waiter was so rude, he was just walking between the tables growling at the guests. The food and beer were OK, nothing impressive. It seems the business model here is not focused on having people coming back, as due to the location there will be always someone, so why bother. Not recommending this place. Also no card payment (hello world 2022).

A great altbeer experience in the old town. The bar and venue itself is impressive, it's old and huge and has loads of rooms, it's like a maze! The beer is good, I have heard it's not to everyones taste - but I preferred it to some of the other altbeers. They have a good bar menu, we didn't eat but it looked good. The staff were nice and pretty quick at refilling our beers.

One of the most typical places in Düsseldorf for drinking an alt bier and taste some traditional meals. People around the big tables or barrels and it is very easy to start a conversation with some of the Duss folks: open and enjoyable guys. I strongly recommend the mustard, a must in the town.
