I really enjoyed my 3 weeks stay at Mille Collines. The hotel provided a crib for my baby and also took care of her laundry. The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. However I quickly got tired of the breakfast buffet as it was almost the same menu that was repeated all through my stay. I must also mention that my room had a breathtaking view of the city which was lovely. I would certainly recommend you to spend a night or two here

We didn't stay here - we just had a tea at their restaurant overlooking the pool. It's a beautiful hotel and the waitress serving us was very attentive. The ginger tea was incredible - nice and spicy. It's a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a nice drink.

I had an outstanding Sunday brunch at this hotel. The ambiance was both authentic and luxurious, and despite it being just for brunch, I relished the terrace, the view, and the food. Our waiter, Marie Paul, was exceptionally professional and cheerful. Special thanks for the excellent service and happy birthday to you. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kigali. Whether it's for the rooms or the other amenities, you won't be disappointed.

Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines was a Rwandan radio station which broadcast from July 8, 1993 to July 31, 1994. It played a significant role in inciting the Rwandan genocide that took place from April to July 1994, and has been described by some scholars as having been a de facto arm of the Hutu government. What is the relationship between this hotel and this radio television station? The Friday evening performances are well worth the wait.

This hotel looks really good from the outside and on the main reception. There is an X-Ray to get in where they scan all your bags before you get in, which is a good thing for safety reasons. The staff at the reception is very unfriendly and they act as they are doing you a favor instead of providing you a service you are paying for. The rooms are sub par. Very small and really humid. The air conditioner works but it makes a lot of noise. There is one door to the outside, but you can't really open it. They have a (terrible) band playing every night until 10pm (yes 10pm) so you can't go to sleep before then due to the incredibly loud noise that permeates the whole hotel. The bathroom has a bathtub, and the water does not go down the drain fast enough. You have to be ok with having water on the bathtub above your ankles while you shower.

I've stay at this hotel on business trips probably more than 10 times and each time loved being welcomed back. The service is great, the outside pool bar/restaurant area a great place to relax. Remember it's place in history.

We booked a table at the rooftop restaurant for our last night in Kigali, thinking it would be the good end to out trip! We travelled across the city just to be told the restaurant was not opened on Sunday. The city was having a curfew and there was no other restaurant opened after 8pm! The hotel didn’t even compensate for our bad experience it was super disappointing for our last evening in this country!!

The place is so beautiful, the space, the views, the food... just splendid. Stayed there for about a week. The staff like most people in kigali were so friendly. The only issue i had was the noice. They had a live band two times within the week and on Saturday from 9-4pm was crazy loud with music. They should work on sound proofing the rooms or just reduce the volume. Other than that , everything else was perfect

We basicaly payed to be sleep deprived. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and couldn't sleep for 2 of them, because of the extremely loud music played at the hotel. We received a notification from the hotel management a few hours before the party started - if we knew this at the time of the booking, we would've definetely chosen a different accomodation. The rooms are quite old, and not very well isolated. The view is very nice and people are friendly and helpful. But at the end of the trip, they tried to charge us extra for a dinner that we did not consummate at the hotel. Overall, I would not recommend this place to any of my friends.

Historic hotel better known for being the venue that the movie "Hotel Rwanda" was filmed. Cannot say much as I only used the cafe adjacent to the swimming pool. My black forest cake was way below par for a hotel of that stature. The orange juice was mediocre (perhaps not on season). The location  is ideal with breathtaking views from the top. Don't regret my visit if not for the food and drinks at least for the historical significance embedded in the place.

In the restaurant on the top of the hotel we were the only clients who came to dinner. The restaurant was empty except for one table. Next day my spouse had gastrointestinal infection and spent the whole night vomiting. In former years it was a pleasure to have a meal over there with music of the piano playing. Too sad for everyone including the managers.

Nice hotel. I stayed for around a week two times in the last couple of months. Nice staff, always available. They serve breakfast, but options for vegetarians are very limited. I would suggest them to increase options for vegetarians. They serve very good spiced tea. Roma are good, with balcony. I was staying in pool side view. View from the room was very good. They also have cultural programs in the evening. I attended the traditional dance show, it was good. Quite expensive. They charge USD 25 per for airport pickup or drop. If you are taking both pickup and drop, then it will cost you USD 50.

The hotel is really really good. The service is always looking up to you and every necesity you have is going to be solved. The place is also good, nice restaurant and amazing pool and views from de hotel. The rooms are also good but maybe a bit old (but they are really really clean tho).

Even though on a special rate they changed our room from seeing just the utility installations to 2nd floor garden view without extra cost, the concierge really worked hard to help us find a reasonably priced tour to see the gorillas, service and food were very nice - 5 stars well earned.

The hotel staff are so kind and helpful. So many visitors come and go yet a week later when I returned they remembered me! The spa was a delight and my massages wonderful!

Combination of hotels.com + Mille Collines is not just working. Supposed to get a discount coupon of 22$ for services and free upgrade, but really not the case. The rooms are ok, but very outdated. Very good location though in city center of Kigali

It is an old Hotel but looks nice, the atmosphere looks old, it needs improvement and rehabilitation, the rooms are clean, price relatively high, breakfast is fine for me, it was fun, outside garden and pool are nice.

Great location. No sun In the garden in the afternoon. Fine but expensive, both in service as the rooms. Old rooms

Hotel has lots of character, so you have good comfort without feeling like in a sterile newly built tower. But, organization there, especially at the bar (which is clearly the place where life happens at the hotel, between reception - pool - breakfasting - garden) is really sub-par. Food and drinks can be extremely slow to arrive, even though it is staffed with lots of people. No consistency: ordering an espresso can bring you anything from a coffee to an actual espresso. And food can be dry, or a bit cheap on sauce. The place remains extremely well located, with views on the town, and a great rooftop restaurant too.

Inaugurated in 1973, this premium grand hotel is located in the central business district and offers you breathtaking views of the hills around the city. More about Hotel des Mille Collines: The Hôtel des Mille Collines (English: Hotel of the Thousand Hills) is a large hotel in Kigali, Rwanda. It became famous after 1,268 people took refuge inside the building during the Rwandan genocide of 1994. The story of the hotel and its manager at that time, Paul Rusesabagina, was later used as the basis of Terry George's film Hotel Rwanda in 2004. The hotel is the setting for the film Hotel Rwanda, but it does not actually appear in the movie, which was largely shot in South Africa. The hotel does however appear in the 2005 HBO film Sometimes in April and the 2007 Canadian film Shake Hands with the Devil, which were shot on location in Rwanda. Source Wikipedia

A decent hotel to say the least. Don't expect your bags to be carried to your room or vice versa if you happen to be 'local'. Rooms are a bit aged but clean so my stay was not all bad. Not the friendliest or most hospitable staff. Food was good though. Would recommend if you are a foreigner from the west otherwise if local save your money.

The facility is old, but the atmosphere and location are really good. We stayed in the junior suite with panorama view and it was a great choice. Great city view of Kigali, quiet swimming pool, spacious rooms and fast internet, and a garden with birds chirping in the center of the city. It's perfect. We realized how satisfied the accommodation was just by not having a construction site around us. And it may not be easy to avoid construction sites in the growing city of Kigali. So we chose a hotel where old and new buildings can no longer be built next to it. Sometimes red rust comes out when the tap water is first turned on, but it disappears when it is turned on a little.

Lunch buffet review, only. Did not stay at the hotel. Lunch buffet was delicious and fresh and a nice view near the pool. I’d definitely recommend this filling buffet to locals & tourists alike. Was pricy, but felt the hotel class & quality of food made it priced well.

A very comfortable very historic hotel. Beautifully decorated with exquisite landscaping. It’s right in the center of Kigali. Comfortable walking distance to many things. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are comfortable. The pool area is very nice, the food in the restaurant was delicious, the breakfast buffet was amazing. Fresh omelettes to order, and any wonderful tropical fresh fruit you could ever hope for. I absolutely hope to return.

Not as new, polished or big as it’s direct competitor (the Marriot), but I really like this hotel. Great staff, as all over Rwanda, and a really charming old school setting. It’s smaller and more personable. The rooms need updating, but they’re not bad all. Those overlooking the pool also have great views of Kigali and the surrounding countryside. Nice breakfast, but the coffee needs work…

Very interesting history - views are nice, especially at night. We enjoyed the pool, as well as the nice service of staff. It is however a bit outdated - but the value for money is alright. Even though our flight was in the evening, we were allowed to still use the pool the whole day. Food options are a bit limited, and service is very slow, especially at the pool bar.

Lovely very well kept hotel. I came with a large group for dinner. The staff was professional and attentive. On Fridays, they have traditional Rwandan dancers. It was great.

I went here for the historical relevance of the hotel but also for the view from the Panorama Restaurant and the cultural music and dance offered on a Friday night. We'll worth it.

It was absolutely mind-blowing from check-in to check-out, the staff were super amazing, friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were very clean and well maintained, the views are indescribable and the food was yummy. The front office staff were excellent especially Kenny... I fully recommend any day. Keep it up guys!

I went to the hotel for a few drinks with 3 friends. When I went to pay, our bill was around $45 but the waitress entered it into the card reader as $550. I asked for a refund but they said the card reader couldn’t do a refund (untrue) despite being form a large national bank. The manager came and claimed they didn’t have cash to repay me (also likely untrue given the size of the bar) but could transfer it to my bank account in the morning. I gave them my bank account number and still nothing. Be careful. The waitress and manager clearly work together to steal patrons money.

The customer service was average but the rooms were clean and efficient. They did not have a fan for my first night but corrected the mistake. Overall, the experience was average but the dinner food was great.
