Europcar Tel Aviv

Car rental agency

😠 Definitely the worst condition rental car I've ever had. Damaged all over, dirty, torn seats. There was a screw instead of the missing antenna! Almost comical. People often mention service, time, rental, Europcar, customer, told, company, charged, return, charge,

If I could I would give 0 stars. Takes a while to collect the car, staff not polite or welcoming at all. When I dropped the car back was told there were damages (tiny scratches) - barely noticeable - got charged nearly 400USD. I don’t think I caused these tiny scratches. I hire cars globally (for work) and never get this microscopic analysis when I return the vehicle. What is more bothersome is the fact they calculate repair cost to be 400USD. They also overcharged me 40USD on the booking because they ‘accidentally’ added a airport transfer fee. Had to block and replace my credit card, I would never go back to Europcar (operated under ALBAR) at this branch. Sadly most people won’t read this review and will book because it’s ‘EUROPCAR’ The truth is it’s not the EUROPCAR you may experience elsewhere.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! RUDE THIEVES!!! My experience: I rented a car for 2 days. I returned it way before 48 hrs. They charge me only for 1 day PLUS the extra miles. Which happened to be a lot more than what I rented it for. When I questioned them, they explained (in a very rude manner) how they came up with such number. I told them "OK, then. Let me have it for the extra time, so you don't add the extra mile", to what they responded "It's 5pm and we are closed" I say "them" because EVERY ONE that works there are complete a**holes! That's only half of it. I come back home and after a month, I see another charge to my AmEx, for $35. I had to call and open a dispute. After another week, I get another charge from Europcar for $35!!! I left Israel 1 month ago!!! I had to cancel my card and order a new one. They are thieves! Rude thieves!

Honestly, this has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with travel. I NEVER leave bad reviews, only positive ones as I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. As I went to leave a review, I noticed the current 2.0 rating and several poor comments, which makes complete sense! My fiancé and I reserved for a 2-day car rental to enjoy a day trip in northern Tel Aviv. After packing our things, preparing for our trip, and taking a 20 minute public transportation ride to get to the car rental, we’re in formed that they do not have a single car to rent to us. Not only do they not have a car, but they are “not allowed” to call and notify us of the situation. The only solution I was given is a potential car if we waited for a couple of hours. The representative, who I don’t think this is her fault, had literally no information for me. She didn’t know if we could get a refund, she couldn’t cancel for me, she was literally useless because of management restrictions. When taking time of our planned day to cancel the reservation, we needed to go back to the office to have the representative confirm cancellation over the phone. Why they needed a middle man is still beyond me? Then, she lets us know that a car was just returned and we could have it… who knows what the situation is, but we can have it. What a lack of care for customers who are paying for a product. Since we are limited on time to do this day trip, we figured it was worth the “sacrifice” so we agreed to take the car. When giving our information, we’re told we need a physical copy of our passport, our photo of our passport will not suffice. Again, another issue with no answers or clarifications. This wasn’t noted as a requirement in the reservation at all. As we’re trying to cancel the reservation AGAIN, the customer service representative noted in the file that the ONLY reason we’re not taking the car is because of the lack of a passport… not because of the hour delay, the second-hand car or absolutely awful customer service. Bottom line, the experience was nothing short of frustrating and I would not recommend them even if it was for free.

They are no longer located at the airport where humans get dropped off and picked up but a terminal far away used for UPS, and other postal shipments. None of this is told to you of course. After waiting in the extreme heat for 30-40 minutes minimum for someone to pick you up from their now defunct and empty space at the main airport you have no means of getting any updates or the lengthof time they will take to pick you up. Don't expect any assistance at the 2nd office either. They didn't walk me over to the car to go over the numerous body issues, interior damages, or just plain filthiness of the car inside and out. Nor did they reimburse me or fill the car to full like they falsely claimed on the car form. I was at 3/4 a rank when i got the car not full. And if you expect them to explain how to start the vehicle with their strange pass code lock you're completely out of luck. even if you pay in advance they require a ridiculous sum of money upfront for a deposit no one informed you about. For 6 days they charged me a "deposit" of $1600 USD. And upon return they charged me another $72 USD for rental insurance I already showed them i had through a separate traveling insurance they claim was "insufficient". I asked why I was being charged for the rental insurance and they said it was mandatory but then on the paperwork they hand you, in an unfamiliar language, it said I declined insurance. So I'd like to know what the $72 usd charge was. I would have argued with them but I had to check in for my flight. They were disorganized from the start making the entire process atrocious at best. Returning the car was a joke just like picking up the filthy damaged car. I'm never using europcar again bc when you call the main headquarters you get no help either. Traveling is supposed to be easy but these ppl make is miserable for sport it seems

I genuinely don't understand how people who work here sleep at night. Over and over, people make a reservation, they get to Europcar on the day of their reservation, and they simply don't have any cars. When you ask them how it's possible they just reply with 'it is what it is, we just don't have cars". Please save yourself and stay as far away from this place as humanly possible.

The worst experience ever! I was waiting in line in the Europcar Tel Aviv Hayarkon agency, in turn, I provided the various documents for my reservation (license, passport, etc.), when the agent began to process the case of another customer who had problems with the return of the vehicle, stopping to process my file. This went on for more than half an hour. When it was my turn, it was the closing time of the agency (1pm on Friday). When it was time to validate the deposit with my credit card, the transaction did not work the first time. I knew the reason, it wass because the spending limit on my credit card was at the limit, I just had to increase this limit via my internet application. I immediately changed this limit on my banking application. The manager of the agency seeing that it was 1:07 pm didn't want to know anything and refused to process my file (knowing that the agency would reopen only 2 days later), leaving me without a car and without an alternative solution. The behavior of the agency manager was contemptuous and unacceptable. They totally ignored me, in spite of my pleas, because it put me in a very annoying situation for the continuation of my vacations. Despite the fact that if they had not made this customer pass before me without asking me, I could have settled this hitch before the exact closing time and thus have my car. The solution was easy and quick, it would have taken only a few minutes to finalize my file and give me the car I had reserved for several months. I did not get any compensation from Europcar nor any support. I have an account with them. I had to pay a cab to go to the airport and lose my whole day to get a car at 7:30 pm (6:30 am after my first disappointment) I find not only the behavior of the agency unacceptable, but also the policy of Europcar (which lets this kind of thing happen without reacting) totally indecent.

Scammers, said our car was damaged even tho it was not. also charged us for Insurance while we already had car insurance from another provider (they just didn't mention it and once we figured it out ourselfs and informed them about it they told us they cant refund anymore for it). also contract came with lots of additional costs. car was supposed to be 400 euro, we ended up paying over 800 (double) , furthermore our deposit was not paid back to us so we kinda lost 1100 Euro (Altho they might still pay this back at some point i dont know). The woman responsible for this mess was named 'Shay' , she was not supportive at all and seemed to be aware of this unethical practice as if she knowingly tried to make as much profit off of us instead of being customer-centric and helpful. Such a shame.

One of the worst company to hire car from especially when it comes to customer services. I was been given a car with no instructions like if it’s diesel/petrol, where to drop off, what’s the sensor device in the car and how it works etc. I would suggest to hire a car from another provider even if they charge you a bit extra for your piece of mind!

I can just confirm all the bad reviews before. I had to wait almost two hours until they were able to find some kind of a car (for sure not what has been booked), and they even tried to charge additional fees to the prepaid booking. Every single customer that I saw in this office had trouble with them, and even the employees told us that customers should complain more at the customer service to get this complete mess fixed. This has nothing to do with the Eurocar service you may know from other countries.

Fraud at Europcar. Europcar Lisbon airport added exstras to the contract inspite of the fact that i clearly did not agree to these extras, offered at the desk. They took advantage of the fact that nobody really reads the contract and people trust the contract to contain what was agreed. They ask you to sign on the screen without showing you the contract and then, when they give you the paper,  they rush you to go get the car. When you return the car you find out that you are charged 270Euro extra for full coverage that you already purchased from RentalCover and for road assistance you rejected. You talk to the guy on the desk, he offers you the extras, you refuse, but the extras are within the contract. Fraud by definision.

Please don't go here. Don't give them your money. Worst service ever. Reservations are meaningless, they will have whichever car at whichever time. They don't care about anything. More than once I've reserved a car for 9am only to be getting one by 12pm. Discounts? Reimbursements? Apologies??? "We don't have a car, what do you want me to do?" I've missed restaurant reservations, arrived hours late at tours. Oh but of course they will try to nitpick every single detail of whatever they can when you give the car back. Your time is worth nothing, but a half an 8th of the gas tank is round down so you now owe them. Anyways, everything is terrible from management to quality of service to employee attitude. Just go somewhere else.

They are unfriendly, rude, unorganized and unable to do the most basic tasks. They let us wait to have private conversations for MINUTES just to tell us that our car isn‘t available. We needed an SUV and they gave us a „better“ car saying: „you’re not going off-roading anyways“. Terrible, terrible company.

This is a scam business, we rented a car with over 25 scratches and as soon as you return the car, they find a scratch they claim wasn't marked and you get charged for repairs and loss of car use. In fact they never fix the scartches and the next customer pay again for the same scratches. I contacted customer service and wrote emails, they never respond, a bunch of crooks.

Price was fair and the car was in decent shape. Service was formal, but fine, and they were helpful when we didn't have a physical copy of our passports (allowing us to just use the digital scanned version). One minor complaint was that the exit from the office was an extremely narrow sloped turn onto a busy road. I only had a few inches clearance on both sides (and our car was a tiny fiat). Not really ideal. We were also charged 103 NIS a few months after our trip, but when we contacted them they explained this was the fee for the toll roads, which they had given us a heads-up about at time of rental. So that's fair.

Told us we had to wait an hour for our car to be ready and when it finally was it was a significantly smaller vehicle than we requested in our reservation. They told us what you book in advance doesn’t matter, they only give you what they have when you arrive

I would like to leave a review about Europcar in Israel . The service is dastardly sly. So bed, arrogant ,they tell a lie,and they want to get your money out by any means , not only with tourists but also with their citizens . They say one thing and doing another. I deceitful company , I do not recommend it.

The worst possible agency and company in the world. they regularly pratcice overbooking, and if you're lucky you get upgraded, otherwise you end up, a few hours later, either with no car or with a truck to drive in the narrow streets of Tel Aviv. What is more, if you happen no to get your car, they will cancel your booking the day you are supposed to get it, but won't do anything to help you find an alternative or get reimbursement, not speaking of compensation. You end up losing much time, money and energy. TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Just to mention : the employees, altough probably untrained for the job and therefore unprofessional, feel as miserable as the clients and might also be considered victims of their company's policy.

Terrible experience and terrible service. Avoid them if you need a car! We reserved a car in advance and when we came to rent it there was a computer system failure which left us without a car, and without a solution for the weekend. The desk clerk only said "Im sorry, please contact costumer's service" without suggesting any solution for our ruined weekend. They have actually sent us to chase the costumer's service after we didn't get a car because of them. On another occasion we reserved a compact car and got a 7 seater which was the last car in the whole city. Ridiculous. Stay away!

SCAM!! When you return the car, you'll get charges you've never seen before! And no one will talk with you or even try to assist. BY FAR the worst rental company I've ever used.

The Car Rental with Europcar was awful. First, we didn't get the car we booked (Tiberias). As they didn't have a manual car we had to take an automatic which wouldn't be a problem but we had to pay more for it which we found unacceptable. Next was that the fuel was not full so we had to wait additionally to get the car, which was then super unclean, we even found a piece of old bread... Finally when we were about to drop it off at the return station (Tel Aviv), we arrived at 8 in the morning. Someone was there but wouldn't let us in or return the car because they were to open at 8:30 eventhough google told us otherwise. There was no parking option anywhere near and the service was very unfriendly when we kindly asked to park somewhere in front, so we had to park on the middle of the street and wait for them to open. When we were finally able to drop of the car they tried to make us pay for sketsches and bumps that have been there before, luckily I took detailed pictures (which the guy at the pickup location didn't) that i could show them and they let us go. Overall I felt very uncomfortable talking and discussing all these situations with the service personal, the car was driving but simply not the type that we booked, communication about changes was horrible and the final drop off scenario made me sweat I would never rent with Europcar again.

Europe Car at the airport, worst experience in car rental ever. We got a car lower level than we reserved, it took forever to be served, and once finally got it was unbearable slow; the person behind the desk was so aggressive and rude that he started to yell at us when we complained about the long waiting. I wander how such a person can do a face-to-face job such this one.

AWFUL. LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS. WHEN WE ENTERED OFFICE 2 PEOPLE WERE HAVING ISSUES AND HAD BEEN THERE AN HOUR. WE HAD RESERVED A CAR AND HAD A PROBLEM AND WERE WILLING TO GIVE UP ON OUR RESERVATION AND 1 DAY RENTAL AND LOSE ALL THAT WE HAD PAID BUT THEY WOULD NOT MAKE US A NEW RESERVATION. AWFUL!!!!

they are crooks. Especially a man named Lior, who works at the airport and is the manager. He tried to scam me by charging 30$ a day for insurance, while the website and other worker and the customer service phone said it was only 15$ a day. So I booked it through their website, but because Lior has such a big fragile ego, he just said no I will not rent the car to you. Lior is a bully and everyone is afraid of him. If you dont comply to his scam he will not rent you the car. Please use any other rental car service except for this one. They charge double and simply do not car about the customer at all. I finally managed to get a car at another company (Eldan) which gave me a better car which costed 300$ less including the best insurance (with no deductible) for 15$ a day.

Rental price very reasonable but Unbelievably rude and unhelpful staff at at this particular office. I’m well accustomed to a different style of service in Israel but this was next level. They Wouldn’t accept digital copies of passports when we didn’t have them with us, would not accept credit card from anyone except the driver. While there were 4 staff members milling around playing on their phones, only one incredibly rude staff member was available to serve us. She left us standing at her desk while she typed something for 10 minutes despite there being no other customers in the store. When we returned with passports she made us wait again while she dealt with some other unhappy customers who were not told the price was in USD not shekels. When I asked if any of the other staff standing around could process the rental because we needed to leave, they just stared like we were aliens. After 45 minutes we still haven’t left the Europcar office and have no hope of reaching our destination on time. Won’t be using Europcar tel-Aviv again.
