This hotel is used as emergency accommodation for our city's homeless. I had the misfortune of having to visit the hotel a few weeks ago. The atmosphere as you walk in is grim. The staff were sat at reception like prison warders. One resident was breaking his heart at reception to a member of staff with folded arms. He even turned away to ask me if he could help me during their exchange. He didn't offer to take the gent into a private space. It felt uncomfortable for me but must have been degrading and humiliating for the poor resident. Avoid at all costs. I only hope Glasgow City Council read this review. They definitely need to take a look at how this hotel treats our city's most vulnerable.

When entering the hotel, thought what have wee booked. Once inside we were given a warm welcome . Room was spotless, warm and very adequate for our needs. Decor had been repainted and could see that they were in the process of upgrading. Breakfast room staff and breakfast was faultless for the price. Excellent value all round! 😊🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The staff that booked me in and security showed me to my room (no help with six bags, this security was not the issue he was very sweet to be fair. End of the day his job isnt to pander to just me he has a security job and should be focused on that.On entering the room the lightswitch was broken (will provide pics) spent the whole night kept away as did every other resident by a.woma threatening suicide at the top of her lungs from 10pm-ish onwards to 4am this morning we are all still up listening to these suicide threats. Despite reports in person by several residents who were concerned for her to a point but to everyone else's mental health affected by her. Common sense would have called the police or ambulance but that didn't happen at any point during the night or hours past since and I dont expect this to happen this evening either. Pics provideseen as the desk manager side I was obviously not cut out to stay there, please look at pics yourself and decide. Let me know what you think xx

Staff friendly and helpful rooms spotless if on a small size. Our bathroom was almost the size of the bedroom ha ha. Only downside was really isn't suitable for anyone with mobility or health problems as due to age and history of this beautiful building there are no lifts. Our breakfast choice was first class and our cooked breakfast was tasty and warm. Definitely will return again as its central to the shopping malls and train station.

Very very clean and spacious room... perfectly placed to see all the city.. very friendly staff and gorgeous old building. The quaint small bar was still serving a few guests till late and met some thoroughly enjoyable people there!! Very good value. Highly recommend.

Good value, a lot more character than most hotels in this price range. The reception staff where first-class, the breakfast good and sensibly priced. The room had loads of plug sockets, and was pretty large. Down sides, the floor was incredibly creaky, there was a bit of road noise and sometimes I could feel a bus make the room shake. I had a really good night's sleep, the bed was very comfy and I would definitely stay here again as it is so well located.

Not a hotel, it's a place where junkies and Jake's get put up paid for by the taxpayers

The hotel itself was good last time I went but is now used as a halfway house for junkies and is definitely a place to avoid

Handy wee hotel, comfortable & clean. Some rooms have been refurbished and are lovely.

Very nice simple rooms. Just what you need, at a very good price for being so central. There was a constant humming noise in our room. Not sure if it was a heating system, or because the hotel is so close to the train station, but it did make it difficult to get to sleep. That's my only little complaint. Very nice service and someplace I'd recommend and visit again.

The actual hotel itself was lovely, staff were really rude though when asked fairly normal questions, that really hurt my experience there

The rooms are pretty small, some smaller than others (I could barely fit my luggage in the room, had no cupboard and space to hang 3 coats) and they need some upgrading (I believe some of the rooms have already been upgraded though.) I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful which was nice as I had just moved to the city. All in all, I found it to be slightly cramped. But I didn't intend to spend all my time in the room and the friendly gestures made my stay pleasant. For the average price per night I can't complain too much and if I get the chance too look at the new rooms I'll update my rating accordingly. 5/5 Staff (Feels like a 5 star hotel service) 3/5 Room (Building age considered, could still do better, cupboards, hanging space and a chair should be a standard) 2/5 Luxury (Chairs in lounge area are falling apart, beds need replacing and walls could do with some repainting) (Based on value for money) Summary: Good place to stay if you're on a budget.
