I started using this gym as it is the only Ladies only gym I could find. Whilst I was working out on Monday 26th September at around 20:45, a man walked in not once but twice to grab some weights, as if there weren’t enough in the bigger hall. There should be stricter measures to ensure that the ladies space is respected. I use this gym so that I can remove my headscarf while working out and felt that my privacy was invaded because a man thinks it’s ok to walk in and out.

The gym is good with a decent range of equipment. However lately lots of members are setting up tripods are recording in the gym and pure gym doesn't seem to care telling you to "contact a member of staff when it happens" even if there's no staff members there at the time. Needs to be a company wide policy to ban these narrcists from recording other people. I will be looking for a new gym that respects the privacy of other members

Handy that it’s open 24 hours but has its issues. The music from classes is far too loud, combined with the loud music in the weights area at the same time it makes it impossible to hear your own music. Showers are constantly dirty and when cleaning staff are seen they barely even know how to vacuum a floor.

Good gym, always clean and tidy. One problem though, the assistant manager is always looking at the CCTV, as several PT’s have confirmed this for hours on end each working day. What is he doing? Is he looking at us women doing workouts? In the light of this issue, myself and my friends are thinking of cancelling our memberships at PureGym Shawlands as we do not feel comfortable regarding this matter.

Only started going about a week ago but feel like it deserves a 5 star review already, I go in the mornings (8/9-11) or around 10:30/11pm so it’s easy to use any machines/ weights you want and everyone seems friendly and happy to help, the vending machines aren’t great i lost £6 trying to buy a padlock but I’ve never used a vending machine anywhere that actually works as intended so it’s not a big deal.

It's a good gym. Always really busy but can usually get the equipment you need. The only downside is certain gym goers have zero respect for the gym and leave their areas a mess/not putting equipment away.

Unorganized. Although there is a communal area for group practice, Pure Gym has provided its weight training area instead to a class, called "sweaty pretty" or something else "sweaty", that they block access to 10 machines, during their exercise until 11a.m.

Im so disappointed with puregym shawlands. Pre covid I was an active member, who took classes regularly etc and I loved it. During covid I was catastrophically injured, and am now permenantly disabled. I knew shawlands had a wheelchair accessible entrance but messaged the gym directly to ascertain their adaptations for wheelchair/disabled members. I emailed twice, and received no reply. I learned from someone who was a former PT there that they don't have many accessible machines at all, despite the access door. I'm disappointed by both this and the absolute radio silence from puregym on the subject- if you don't have the machines available, I'd rather know than them continue to take my money and I turn up unable to do anything. I feel I wasn't replied to for this reason, that if they admitted they couldn't adapt things they'd lose me as a member. I hate how if I was active and able, I'd be at the gym I went to for years. I since joined another gym who not only had the accessible machines but taught me how to access them, and it turns out I can use some machines without adaptations at all (so if shawlands had gotten back to me and let me see what I could do with help, they wouldn't have lost my membership). I feel the situation was albest and I'm upset that my injuries have lost me the gym I'm used to and comfortable with, because they were too scared to admit they aren't accessible for disabled users despite the misleading entrance.

This is the only PureGym I've ever been to, so I have no idea what it's like in comparison, but it's a good experience for the price. It's rarely too busy to get a decent workout in, even at peak hours. The temperature is good, lighting is nice, and the equipment is generally in good order. The few gripes I have are the same I have with most gyms: too many treadmills, not enough cable attachments (need more ropes!), and only one of some very popular machines like leg extensions.

Great gym been going here for years but found out that the assistant manager sits and watches the cctv for hours throughout the day. Feel very weird about this as there isn’t any need for him to be sitting and watching people. Would feel much more comfortable in the gym knowing someone isn’t watching me in there for hours

It's a good gym as far as equipment and opening times goes. It's also kept clean and tidy which is good. However, since the staffing changed drastically, I haven't found the new team to be friendly or welcoming.  They often hang around together chatting outside the staff room rather than being out on the gym floor. I have on a few occassions heard them comment (judgementaly) on people's workouts. As Pure Gym PT's mainly hold basic fitness qualifications, I would suggest they may grow more in their profession by being curious about different training methodologies. This could be easily sorted if the current manager done more to improve the culture. He could start by leading by example... and more  positively engaging with member himself.

Good gym but equipment desperately needs fixed or replaced. Also, not enough of bench press sets

Good gym. Clean and tidy at night time. Only thing is that the heating isn’t on late at night, leaving the gym very cold in freezing temperatures

I have recently joined this gym as a new member, having found my previous gym harder and harder to access due to my hidden disability. This gym has a wide variety of equipment which meets my needs, and all of the staff are friendly and willing to help. Special mention to Chris, the assistant manager, who has been a really big help in my time so far.

😠 I have had the worst treatment by the staff here. I came with my two year old daughter and wanted to use the little shallow pool. They told me I had to wear a bathing suit so I was even going to purchase one, for over £20, since I promised her that she was going to get in while her older sister was...

🫤 They were not able to reopen the Sauna and jacuzzi since 2020, which is more than pathetic now. These were just renovated pre Covid and we are not able to use them for 3 years and there is no hope, that we can use them anytime soon.

🫤 This is a good budget gym and the facilities are overall really good. One major drawback are the lockers. There is a big problem with lockers that don't lock as the locks are jammed.
