Great venue meals were good. Steak $39 tasty verges were average. Entree coconut prawns were tasty. Beers $28.60 a shout 2 x pint of James squire beers a bit ott. Large beer undercover terrace with a fantastic outlook. Loads of events. Live music, trivia etc. lots of atmosphere here. TAB and gaming. Staff were super friendly and made it a great day out of the rain

Absolutely horrible service. Went with some friends at lunch time, a couple of them without shoes. They were happy to take our orders which were then paid for and then threatened to have our orders cancelled and asked to leave the restaurant until we all have footwear, although the sign out the front said footwear was required after 7pm. Had to buy shoes and after receiving our food it was noticeably smaller proportions than tables around us. Also had a staff member (possibly the manager) pointing us out stating something along the lines of “people like us shouldn’t be allowed entry” and to keep an eye on us. Appalling.

Get venue for a few drinks or lunch. Lovely to sit outside and people watch. We had a win on the TAB, played pool in the back. It's great to see a place with more than two tables and in a separate area. There is a Gaming lounge and they have bands with great music and rocking vibes. Mrs loved it 🥂🎉

Awful, I never comment on venues but this one is pretty special Really expensive for the worst food I ever ate, nachos was cold and wet and even the guacamole was terrible. the staff are rude, drinks 30% more expensive then any other hotel. Black mold everywhere. Tap beers taste like they haven’t been cleaned in years. Venue is old and dirty. At least the live music was good. I do not recommend. If I could put 0/5 stars I would.

Popped in for lunch Sunday during Cooly Rocks On. Had no issues getting seating at the front with a great view of the event. Quick counter ordering with a buzzer and very minimal wait time for food. Had the pork belly bites and a Jacket potato side. Flavours were good, and for an entree the pork belly bites were a big serving. Both items could have been cooked for longer. Quick, reasonably priced and perfect for what I popped in for!

As per a previous review below I also took my two kids there (3 and 5) for a kids meal at 5pm with a band on and were told the kids cannot dance in front of the one man band. What a joke. As a local we will take our business to the surf clubs who don’t tell kids they cannot dance and Will be telling everyone with kids that we know to not bother either. Wonder if it would have been different if it was a few ladies dancing at 5pm.

Celebrated a friends 50th. Had a booked private room 4 - 8pm with pool table and own bar. After 8pm we mingled with the rest ranging from 18 - 70 in age. Great covers band playing. Drinks were $1+ more than up the road. Need a better smoking area than on the main front footpath. Our party had a really good night.

Food was great and large portions, definitely value for money. Family friendly hotel. Forgot photos tonight but will eat there again and will take photos then. Everyone was happy with their meals and serving time was great. Value for money $$

Had many a meal here over the years and all satisfactory, until today. Had a senior steak, salad and chips. Salad and chips ok, but the steak was very tough, I could hardly cut it nevermind eat it. Nice waitress offered to get me another one but I declined. Found bar prices very expensive too. Very dissappointing.

The bar staff were lovely, but when it came to ordering our dinner, the mail staff member with a beard asked me how I wanted my steak cooked when I was trying to explain myself. He kept over talking me, basically telling me that I was wrong, so my wife and I ordered chicken schnitzel and rump steak. I asked for garlic prawn topper and requested to have the garlic prawns on the side, a young female bar attendant was called over to deliver our meals as she was placing the meals on the table. Several chips flew off my wife’s plate down between her legs and the table onto the floor politely the young lady said sorry to my wife and left the chips on the floor and didn’t clean them up. My garlic prawns were scattered all over my steak both my wife and my chips were overcooked and burnt ! my steak. Was as tough as a car tyre and my wife’s chicken schnitzel was so burnt they should’ve put sunscreen on it. Totally disgusting

Really nice pub in a great Coolangatta location. Lots of different beers and wines on offer. The food is great and not overpriced. And the service is good too. Love the Sunday arvo live bands!!

First time I've ever been to he Cooley hotel. It's been a staple of local and live music for the gold coast region for a very long time. Decent sized main room, heaps of street parking at night and sound was pretty good. Can see why it is a mainstay as far as live venues go.

On our way back to the Sunshine Coast stopped in at Coolangatta and found this gem of a hotel for dinner. Great menu and prices, and the food was cooked and served beautifully. Staff friendly and welcoming. Definitely on our list to come back.

We have been going to the Coolangatta every Sunday for the last eight months to listen to music drink our wine and relax. We have the same amount every Sunday a bottle between us and a glass to share before going home. This last Sunday three big intimidating bouncers came over and asked us to leave as we had too much to drink. Much to our surprise as we have never had an issue at the Coolangatta before this is not the way your paying patrons should be treated and I am disgusted as we are grown ups not little children we know exactly how much alcohol we can consume. Not impressed by this low class behaviour and I would love you to go onto your footage and replay and see what the issue was and send me the footage. My partner is a very non intimidating person and I feel this needs to be dealt with.

The male barman took our order asked how'd we like our steak. We said pink no blood. Barman so medium well. Us, no not well pink but no blood - medium. He again sternly over taked us. Asked for garlic prawn topper on the side came out smothered over the steak. My chicken snitzel and chips were not only burnt leaving half uneaten due to the after taste of burnt, the waitress tipped my chips from my plate to the floor whilst placing my meal in front of me. Not like they were busy, only hubby and I seated in the dining area and a group of 5 had already been served so no excuse for not only bad service but disgusting food. 😒 very disappointing

Got a budget room so no high expectations. But the steak and the staff are just awesome. I highly recommend wether you're travelling or just want a place to have a feed and chill. Thanks to all the staff.

It was my first and last time there probably. I went there tonight with a group of friend for Wednesday oysters $2.5 special (see photos attached) I end up over paid. I drove all the way back from burleigh heads to get a refund because they were over charged me $37 from what I understood. However, it was really disappointed as I haven’t get the total amount of the refund back. To be honest the sign at the front that they were advertising for the special was not match what they’ve presented at all. And it didn’t make any sense for me. Nothing says at the advertised that i have to order 1 main dish to be able to order 1 set of oysters (which is 6 or 12 pieces) even tho I thought I could order 1 main dish and any oysters for myself in just one bill as that was for just one person as it says 1 meal per person. 2 staff explained differently as well. the food was great and few staff members was nice. Just i wont be back there again because of the sign that they were advertising was unclear and i felt this was really unfair.

Sadly this pub has gone hill in the last few years. Unfortunately, they don't play any sports NRL/AFL anymore. The TAB TV screens are always down. No one knows what they're doing. The staff are not manning the betting terminals, especially on Saturday afternoons. Such a shame when this pub was one the best hotels back in the day. And there is no duty manager in sight.

Great staff, great atmosphere. Unfortunately, Beer off the tap tasted like it wasn’t cleaned for over a month, probably longer. Had to ask for our meal, even though our mate ordered after us, our meals were sitting under the heat lamps, waiting to be picked up. His steak, cooked to perfection. Chips - COLD. Nachos - warm at best. Was going to take it back, but the line up was long and couldn’t push in to take the issue further. Tried to explain at the end, but so not worth it. Will only go back for the service, NOT the food.

My partner and I came in for the Monday $16 rump special, and to be honest we weren’t expecting the world. It was the best pub steak I have ever had and I’ve had many. Perfect medium rare (which rarely happens elsewhere) great char and very juicy. Service was also outstanding. All round great experience.

We've been staying down at Kirra beach for the week. Hired some Lime bikes and cruised over to the Coolangatta Bistro and Bar. We ordered the rump and sticky ribs. It was an awesome dinner and we might try one of the other specials tomorrow night. Friendly, fast service btw.

Had the steak sandwich here before and it was great so was really looking forward to this one. What a let down. Shrinkflation at its finest. Tiniest bit of bacon, filling covered only three quarters of the untoasted Turkish roll. Egg was so under cooked, the yoke ran all through the chips which ruined them. The best part was the beer. There was no need to rush this order as it was only 11.30 am. Most definitely a rush job. Sorry to say I will only be coming back for beer

Really disappointing meal we had for lunch yesterday. No wedges so my partner ordered onion rings, small slivers of onion and oily. I ordered nachos with 'house made salsa'.. no house made salsa in sight, most of the meal was cheese and sour cream.. not fresh at all. Won't be returning.

We stopped for lunch, ordered fish and chips with salad. This was so bad and totally inedible. Tough as old boots and cost $22. Partner had Lamb Shank (1 only) on a pile of sloppy mashed potatoes and cost $28. The one star was for the lovely girl serving at the counter. Keep walking.

Fed 4 people lunch with a drink for $100. Fish & chip meal was lovely & rump meal was cook as asked for correctly. Pleasant enough just extremely noisy which didn't low for much conversation over meal which was only downfall really

We had a great night last night, food was quick, Chick Flicks band was amazing. The big shout out is to Hayden - he is an incredible employee, with his dedication and focus to clearing tables and looking after customers, he went above and beyond!

As seniors we are used to "Seniors Meals" being small and basic. NOT AT THE COOLANGATTA HOTEL. We were pleasantly surprised by the smiling lady taking the order, quality and quantity of the food. Our grandson who is finicky enjoyed his kids meal. Exceptional. Thanks for the experience.

Very standard hotel with standard meals. Our meal was standard, nothing special, and we noticed other people just ate their meals and left quickly. Seems it's only a place for a quick meal and leave. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and efficient.

Very disappointing lunch today. Pork belly and roast vegetables with gravy...first 2 bites of Pork, delicious, the rest was all fat, in fact, inedible. The potatoes were the only decent part of the meal. To top it off, the coffee was barely warm. The only good thing about the experience was the girl who served us...she was lovely.

We visited a week ago and I got a great steak. We went back yesterday and the steak was horrible, full of grissle, so I couldn't eat it. The fish meals are nice plus good milk shakes. A nice view out over the sea while dining.

Food was lovely and friendly staff. Would suggest a full wall to close off the noise of the live band from the bistro. Would make dining in a more pleasant experience.

Nice pub with good location. I had my first meal in Coolangatta at this venue and ordered their $16.50 weekday special (you can choose from a list of options, I got the fish & chips). Chips and salad were alright but fish was rather bland and not fresh. Probably should have ordered something else instead. They have their own house beer which is a Little Cooly lager and it’s only $6 for a schooner. I wouldn’t say it’s the best beer ever but it’s still fairly decent for what it is. Overall not a bad place to come and chill.

Great views, ambience and food. Quality and value. This venue has never disappointed. Lunchtime specials for all in our party this visit. Fabulous steak sandwiches on Turkish, chips and a schooner of Byron Bay lager for under $18.

Would have to be the best steak i have had in a long time, well worth the money. All meals where very nice and filling. Was very busy for a Sunday night. Meals come out quick. Staff and others were nice as well. Will be back

Great pub, great atmosphere, friendly vibe and we saw the BEST band called Revolution last night. These guys were the most professional local rock band I have seen for many years playing for free on a Sunday Afternoon. Lots of dancing, lots of fun and the food was great too
