The staff at the reception judge you by your colour and discriminate despite being previously informed to them that I would be checking in before my friend who is an employee of the group we called the hotel the previous day to inform them that I will be checking in before her they said they will inform the reception and on my arrival from Victoria I had to wait for 45 minutes and she (laura) wouldn’t give me my room cause my friend wasn’t here we had already paid for it and they confirmed over the phone that it was alright to check in before my friend she charged me extra since my friend wasn’t there. Extremely disappointed if they informed us early we would have booked elsewhere. Just because you are a different colour you should discriminate like this.

Overpriced for the quality of rooms offered. Checked in at 7pm and the lady at the reception just wanted to rush me in. I had to ask where all amenities were rather than her telling me. Room had old worn off furniture. They don't even have free wifi. I booked in for 3 nights but checked out next morning as I saw cockroaches in the bathroom. Thankfully there was a nicer receptionist there who said they'll refund me for a night. Not staying there again that's for sure. Quite disappointed.

Looked good in photos, carpets stained, curtains ripped, mold in the cupboard next to the fridge, heater not working in the spa, Booked for 2 adults and 1 infant , We got 2 double beds and were told it's a extra $10 for a cot, and $20 extra for parking. If we had known all this we wouldn't of stayed here. For $190 a night there's better hotels available.

Don’t even deserve a star. Booked this hotel couple of weeks ago in highest price for ocean view and after reaching there was much of city view got scammed already. Also, it was a studio room and cutlery’s and cooking pots were not cleaned. Informed the reception about this and was told to ‘wash by yourself’. This is what we paid for $$$ and in return we got this type of service.

We are currently staying here for our anniversary and we are paying a fortune because it falls on a holiday which would be fine however The room smells like off milk and the TV is so old you can only watch your basic television, no movies or netflix or cable TV. They charge an extra for parking at $20 a day which is a bloody joke. The facilities down stairs are very nice however it cost me over $12 for a tea and a coffee. Definatly wouldn't recommend coming here.

Nice hotel. The check-in was very quick, the staff behind the counter very friendly. We checked in and went for a walk around Surfers as it was my girlfriends first time there. So much to see and do and The Matra was very central and easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The room was very nice large, small kitchenette and balcony. Very comfortable, some of the finishes are starting to show their age but overall it was a very nice room. We ate out that night but went and had a couple of drinks at the bar before heading out. The person serving behind the bar seemed like she didn't want to be there and was a bit disinterested, but we didn't let that bother us. The lobby and pool area are very nice we didn't swim but a few people did and seemed to enjoy the pool. Breakfast was standard buffet breakfast fare, nice, plentiful and hot. The pancake station was very popular. Definitely go back to stay again when we are back in town.

Odd smell in the rooms, I had to have the balcony doors open all the time. Even the closest had a musty smell. So be aware to leave your clothes hanging in there, bring a deodorising agent. Bathroom is small. The hotel and rooms are clean. Breakfast was great value, with excellent service. However I found paying for breakfast on demand was .32c more expensive than adding it to your room, likely due to electronic card payments. No big deal, just weird- as upon checking out, an electronic payment was also used. The hot tub was full most of the time. Short walk to the central activity areas. Great location. Hotel bar closed exceptionally early for a weekend. Hotel check in staff were friendly.

This hotel was recommended to us by a travel agent but I’ll let them know our experience. First impressions: Nice lobby and pool looks great too. I’ve had more friendly welcomes and check-in experiences. Smelly room - there is old smelly wooden furniture in our room and opening the sliding door hasn’t seemed to help at all. Photos online look much better than real life (and don’t feature old wooden smelly furniture). Good price for kids breakfast

I can’t express how amazing this place actually is. It made the next hotel I visited look unappealing despite it being a good hotel. The staff were lovely, lobby was open (space wise), clean and welcoming and a 24/7 reception desk. The room was so clean with daily housekeeping, TV and amazing window views with a balcony and chairs overlooking the beach. The pool and spa was just phenomenal. I reckon I spent more time in the pool than the hotel room. Love that it’s a freshwater pool and not chlorine/salt. While the QR codes to order drinks from the bar at the pool chairs didn’t work at the time, it wasn’t that far to walk and was totally worth it. (I had the fruit tingle). The cafe/restaurant was also good. Location in terms of public transport and shops was good. As I said before, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Place was decent. Has a pool with bar table service, small gym, sauna and steam room. We booked a Deluxe Studio Room, which on their website, is advertised in a way that is representative of the last 3 photos attached. What they gave us is captured in the first 3 photos attached. What they gave us is representative of the way they advertise their basic Studio Room. We went to the concierge to discuss and the assistant tried to convince us that the room we were given was the Deluxe, and the discriminator was that it had supposedly been renovated with "dark wood" instead of the usual wooden colour (see photos - he clearly was lying to us). He also stated that the photos online were for reference only, but on their website, there's no words to that effect. In essence, they gave us the cheaper room (smaller balcony, basic layout, less of a spacious feel) instead of the Deluxe. To be fair, they then moved us at our request to a room that was in line with what's advertised and offered a full refund as an alternative, but we had to argue for it. I'll be back, but will be sure that they won't put us in the basic room again.

Dodgy. Supposed to stay 6 adults in deluxe interconnecting rooms. Far from deluxe. 2 very small separate interconnecting rooms with a small table with 2 chairs in each room. Beats me how 6 Adults can eat also with only 4 plates, cups etc or even just to sit down. Room stinks of mold. Beds only have a top sheet, so bring your on blankets. In the bathroom towels racks are above the toilet. Stains on carpet and hallways. Very old and run down. Only option was told by Reception was a bigger room only has 1 king size bed or go somewhere else. What the!!! Which is a bit hard when travelling to stay there. Nowhere near 4 stars. 3 stars at best. False advertising. First 4 star hotel I've stayed in that charges to park there. Positive thing is the location. Real reviews pretty much say the same thing. Easy to spot the fake reviews.

Location, staff and facilities were all amazing. Felt very secure with key cards and safes in the rooms. Staff were very accomodating when we were confused on some of the amenities. Happy hour between 4-6pm was a nice touch and the pool with working spa. Only downside were the smallish rooms, which could have been cleaner, but nothing extremely unsanitary. Cleanliness to be expected when towels and sheets are white.

This hotel is located at a prime location. So much activity nearby. Sea beach is hardly 5 minutes walk. We being Indian tourists, our interest was in having many Indian restaurants around. We were not disappointed. The breakfast spread was good but vegetarian options were not as many. This is expected in such a place. Rooms were moderate sized, amenities were satisfactory. Tea/coffee maker and fridge. Staff at reception and at restaurant were cooperative. Swimming pool was good, guests have to use their room key for access to it. Gym also in the same area. View from our 13th floor room balcony was enchanting.

Stayed for one night. The service was friendly and prompt. The room was generous and well laid out. The little kitchen area was great. Everything was clean. Only issue was good luck getting the toilet paper when you are not a contortionist as these are mounted behind you when sitting on the toilet. Maybe move it to the other wall. They had underground parking which was handy. The location is great, right in the heart of Surfers and easy walk to everything.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a short holiday. We were welcomed by the beautiful staff and check in was easy. We were guided to the car park , it does cost an additional $20 a day but goes down the longer you stay Rooms and views were beautiful and ample amenities to choose from Would highly recommend stay here The only down side I would say is that our room didn’t have adequate lighting for the night but that’s just being picky

A great place to chill, nice surroundings, and decent food. Found ourselves enjoying these surroundings to celebrate a birthday, what an unexpected find! Felt like we were on cruise ship, watching people in the pool! Nice food, served promptly. Drinks also a great range. Particularly liked the glassware.. well, it was plastic (presumably so it's safe around the pool) but looked just like super classy glassware!

Great outdoor facilities such as pool and spa. Love the happy hour from 4-6 pm with choice of cocktails and other beverages. Room service was great with optional service daily. Views of the ocean from room stunning where we were located.

Great Service from the Concierge desk and the bar staff were fantastic and friendly. The pool is fabulous and the perfect temperature. The room had an absolutely wonderful view, the beds were very comfortable and the aircon was very good. The rooms could use a little updating to appear a little more modern but they were still presented well and were clean and tidy. For the price point this hotel was great value.

Amazing stay, great facilities & service. The girl at reception, Dahlia, was working hard every single time I walked past her, always polite, even when she was dealing with rude customers. She clearly takes pride in doing a great job. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed for a weekend. The corner studio room on the 17th floor had great views over the river/canals. The room was spacious and well appointed with a kitchenette, king bed, and small balcony. Ample places to recharge devices. Good selection of teas provided. The only negative is that the bathroom is on the small side with the toilet half behind the door. The shower over the bath has a water saver shower head, but the water was hot. Like that it has a pull out washing line over the bath and plenty of toiletries in dispenser bottles. Reception, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were very welcoming, as were some but not all bar staff. A very good buffet breakfast and other smaller options are also available. The location is terrific, just a short stroll to the beach, tram and some restaurants and shops. Sitting poolside is very pleasant, but I didn't take a dip, so I can't comment too much on that.

Neat and clean environments and good location. Our 4 nights stay was enjoyable and hassle free. Clean swimming pool with a small jacuzzi for kids. Sumptuous buffet breakfast is available which was included in our package. A very clear and scenic view of the beach was visible from our room at 20 level. A minus aspect was the person at the Tales Bar. I had a voucher for two free drinks. This guy said only one drink is per voucher, so I didn't contest. However, another guy served us with same second drink without asking our choice. I requested the first person to remove the ice from the glass but he rudely said he is busy. This was one big negative

Can't beat the location only 100 meters from the beach, close to absolutely everything. Nice pool, bar, restaurant only open for breakfast. Studio apartment only has fridge, electric jug, toaster, no microwave which was disappointing and had to use the bathroom sink which is very shallow to fill the jug.

Stayed here with family over the airshow weekend for 5 nights. The view is amazing we were on the 19th floor. Beds 🛏️ comfy. Small balcony. Great location not right in centre of town but 2 block short walk and you're there. Beach is at the end of the street. Great breakfast! Would happily stay again. Thanks to Olivia Morgan, Jesse on the desk and Emma in Fables for a great stay ❤️

The location is the only good thing about this accommodation. Our big issue was exhaust fans in the bathrooms don’t work, so if you have a hot shower it’ll saturate everything inside the bathroom like a steam room. I addressed this with staff and management they offered me the keys to another room the same and said “it’s the building not the rooms, the owner doesn’t want to spend money on 25 year old building as it’s to expensive to fix the exhaust fan system” The only compensation the staff could offer us was “drink vouchers” at their in house bar, which is closed after 6pm (after 6pm at the time) When I asked why nobody else complains about this, they said everyone says the same thing, but nothing can be done. If you plan on doing makeup or using the bathroom for anything other than a steam room, forget it, book somewhere else.

We stayed here 3 nights and were more than happy. It's not luxurious but is clean and tidy. Rooms are a little dated but more than satisfactory, reception and all staff are very friendly and helpful, room service is great. Presentation of the whole place is lovely and it's so close to everything. I can happily recommend a stay here.

The location of this hotel is convenient. The tram service is a short 3 minute walk away and the beach is right beside - 2 minute walk. Shops are also a short walk away. The rooms are decent. It is spacious. However the toilet floor can be slippery. Minor inconvenience due to awkward placement of the toilet roll dispenser. Queen bed is a single bed combined into one so there might be an awkward gap in between. Room is a little dusty. I liked that there were kitchen utensils provided including a dishwasher and an oven. It was unfortunate that the bar closed earlier than its stipulated time as we wanted to redeem our welcome drink for accor members.

Stayed at the Mantra Legends for 1 week in a standard suit with buffet breakfast. The hotel is not bad but it’s not great. The location is perfect, fantastic customer service and pool was nice. Breakfast was average, not worth paying an extra $30. The rooms were outdated, beds uncomfortable, a sheet and thin blanket with no quilt, thin pillows. I love when hotels do a deep thorough clean of the rooms but this room had slight stains due to being outdated. I won’t be returning or likely to recommend to anyone. There are so many fantastic hotels in surfers paradise to choose from instead. If Mantra want to be a competitive hotel then the rooms need to be deep cleaned and spruced up. As I said, not bad but not great.

Very nice spa room on the top floor. Breakfast was included and was excellent such a big range of breakfast foods to choose from. The service for taking away used plates was excellent they never sat there more then 2 mins without someone coming to take them away.

Great place for the money spent. Room was clean and functional. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only minor issues we had were caused from other guests which was quickly taken care of by the staff to clean up mess and keep everyone informed.

Love this place! Only 100 metres to beach patrolled area, and so close to so many amazing restaurants, including the best Thai restaurant on the coast! Close to tram. Very close to heart of Surfers. Very comfortable accommodation, great views, pool and helpful, friendly staff.

Always appreciate these guys. Every time I go Gold Coast I stay here. They usually hook me up with a great room after I ask nicely. Views are on another level. Literally. Pool is not bad but some patrons are older folk that can’t stop staring at any girl under 30 like mad creepy looks. So maybe walk to the beach in that case. Rooms and gorgeous however my water pressure could take paint off a car. Does the trick to a sun burn.

The Airbnb I booked was located in this motel so no comment about the motels service however the room I stayed in had super thin walls. I couldn’t even laugh or use my normal toned voice to speak without the neighbours banging on our walls too keep it down. Worst weekend ever as I couldn’t even have a decent conversation with my friend. Convenient location though.

I booked the hotel deluxe studio thru the official website, it's come with buffet breakfast as well. For what I got is 5 star accommodation, room was tidy and clean, housekeeping will cleaned the room and change towel everyday. Hotel buffet breakfast served different variety of food and drinks, they even served vegetarian too. It was walking distance to beach and cavil Avenue which is convenient. I definitely will be back to mantra legends when I come surfer paradise again.

The room looked tired and small. Had to ask for an extra blanket. Good shower though. Great view (14th floor). Service was good as was the locality. Had to pay an extra $20/day to park underneath.

  • 3/5 Cameron H. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms were clean and the overall appearance was good, however I was not told on check in that I had to pay for the privilege of parking my car in the underground car park. On checkout I was then told I had to pay an extra $45. So on top of paying the $550 for staying in the hotel, there was the parking fee. On asking the lady at the front as to why I wasn't told about the fees for parking on my arrival I was informed that I would have been told and that I must have just not heard correctly. Now I know that there was no mention of parking fees on my arrival as I had my daughter with me as well and she heard no such comment either. So while the stay was pleasant enough, be aware of this hotels little add ons. Bit rude.

Busy hotel close to all the action in Surfers Paradise. Room as advertised and offers value for what it provides. We had terribly noisy neighbours which was made worse as we got a room with joining door, so prolly more noise that rooms with out a joining door. Because I’d the convenient location there are lots of families and OS tourists. So if you want something quieter and upmarket you’ll need to pay more. We were on 18th floor and like many hotels in this price range very functional and comfortable. We had need to deal with Hotel staff a couple of times during our stay and they were friendly and efficient which is a relief in this jobs market. Summary: well priced, well located, well busy and the do a great job and hotel is well run.

[DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL] We booked through their hotel directly to be able to make use of the 10% discount that was available to us since we participated in a Property Development Summit held at the hotel from 24-25 September. We were told "Don't worry, the discount will be applied at the reception". We called 2 weeks ahead of arrival to ensure there would be parking for us since we were driving from Sydney and did not want to have to look for parking when we arrive. We were told by the competent people on the phone that "there is always parking for guests at the hotel". The reception was unable to give us the discount for reasons that defy logic. In fact, the Asian guy that served us was downright rude. Parking was also not available because it was already fully booked when we arrived. Perfect! We complained to the hotel reception manager and she ensured us that it will be investigated and at least the discount applied. Today we received our business tax invoice over the full amount. We spend a lot of time in hotels on our trips, but never ever again in any of the Mantra Hotels. They do not value their guest's time and efforts.

Great location and close to main Surfers area. Assistant Manager, Zac was a great help to us and helped resolved a few speed bumps we faced almost immediately. Can’t fault the pool, spa, gym and sauna. Has everything you need and is good value for a 4-star hotel. Rooms are decently sized and clean. Would recommend to families.

  • 3/5 Carla F. 1 year ago on Google
Reception staff were friendly and it was a decent hotel. Good location. It didn’t seem like a 4 star hotel though. A bit expensive as it is quite old inside the room. The carpet did have a strange smell and the blanket had a stain on it. Just needs an upgrade so it’s more modern in the room. The carpet really needs to be changed or steam cleaned.

Fantastic hotel located in the heart of Surfers Paradise. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a balcony with a lovely ocean view. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and the pool was nice and big and clean. The additional little touches as an Accor Silver member such as a late check out and drink vouchers, were also lovely. The hotel is a block away from the beach, and close to heaps of great restaurants. It is also close to two light rail stations for access to other places such as Pacific Fair. Overall a fantastic stay here, and would definitely stay here again.

This place was absolutely beautiful, I stayed here for a week earlier this year and it was amazing. The beach view was amazing to wake up to every day. This hotel is in a very central location, easy access to all activities and transport. The staff were all so friendly and kind. Beach is a 2 minute walk down the road as-well. Pool and spa area is really nice. Only problems I had is that the beds were uncomfortable and the shower was awfully small other than that a great hotel.

All the staff were lovely, from the front desk, to house keeping. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool. Perfectly located to the beach, Cavil Avenue and all amenities. Fair warning, I didn't expect the rooms and balcony to be as small as they were. However, I still enjoyed sitting on the balcony each morning watching the sun come up. A family of 4 and in the end it was quite cramped, with bags etc everywhere. But really, how much are you in your hotel room for? Again, this was my error. Would I stay there again? Yes. With a couple of kids? Try and book a connecting room or an apartment.

Great place, very clean, very comfortable and lovely views. The staff were so helpful in every way, even on rainy night could still see the beach and city. Great position too across from indoor skydiving just close to everything definitely stay again thank you 🙏 🌺

A great couple of nights in the middle of our 5 week holiday. The beach is great and very busy with swimmers, sunbathers, people making sandcastles and playing volleyball or just wandering in the sand and waves, as we were. Perfect, in June #winter
