Bring in the Netherlands for over six months and having a slices of Gouda cheese almost every morning, we decided to visit the city to explore more. Though there are several places to visit in and around the city, this was the experience which is unique and available most of the time of the year. We were greeted by Mel and his colleagues, kick-starting the tour with some trivia about the city. After this, it was mostly a self-paced audio tour that gives you a detailed explanation of the cheese making process along with plenty of trivia on the way. It's mostly simulated - so you need to set the expectations right. An interesting part were well designed picture spots to boast about your trip on social media or print them into pretty photographs. The cheese-tasting at the end was a short yet educational experience. Btw if you are planning to buy something from the shop, definitely buy the mustard dip with aged cheese.

This was a great experience. We gained much knowledge through all the information presented. It is appropriate for all age groups. Especially enjoyed the tasting at the end. We met the mother and daughter who built this experience from the ground up. You can tell they genuinely care about their patrons and are eager to answer questions and share stories. Thank you for the fabulous experience!!

Also went to the Gouda Cheese Experience very knowledgeable tour. You go at your own pace but it took me around 1 hour. First you learn about the farms around the Netherlands and the milk. After you see the process of it being made and then history of the cheese. Lastly you get a nice tasting where they explain the different ages, tastes and pairings of the cheese. Overall a great knowledgeable experience!

After waiting over a year to be able to take my family to the cheese experience we where not disappointed. We where welcomed by the lovely hosts. Make sure to pay attention to all the snippets of information around you. Even before entering the room for the introduction video there is a wall full of historical information about Gouda and it's cheese history. It's really a mix of history about Gouda and it's cheese and an explanation of the full process of how cheese is made from the cheese to the plate. It's really interactive and the information sticks. Weeks later we handed one of our friends here in Brazil a piece of authentic Gouda cheese and our kids explained the whole process to them including how long his specific cheese had cured for. In short it was really informative and fun with great service by kind and attentive host.

Pretty cool experience, self guided audio tour. Try your best to stay away from groups of children, though..

Good experience for something fun to do in this town. It’s a self guided tour about the cheese process. It was a little busy so there was a bit of crowding but the tasting at the end was nice. Staff was friendly which is nice when you’re a tourist.

The Gouda ('How-da") Cheese Experience is an interactive, educational, and fun self-guided walking tour through a museum. But, it is more a combination of a history museum and a science museum. The experience walks you through the history of the town of Gouda and then through the Cheese making process. Along the way, you sample Gouda cheese 🧀. The experience ends with a seated tasting of 5 different cheeses with explanations of each. Throughout the tour, you interact with different stations and fill out a questionnaire to be awarded the Cheese Master certificate at the end. The Experience tries to make it interesting for children and adults. There is a small Cafe at the end for purchasing cheese trays and refreshments.

We wish the summer tour would have been with less people per group. Anyway, fun for kids with interactive learning experiences and they also give you a clipboard with questions (front and back) to answer as you go through the experience. Video, audio, visuals, projections, games, photos and much more! The animation movie they show in the beginning is really cute :). From our experience: To be honest, having to answer all the questions took time away from the enjoyment and learning more about the experience itself. We were too focused on the answers and kept going back in the rooms and replaying audio. For what? Well, we walked out right before the coolest part of the experience since the rooms get stuffy and there's a line for that last one. If you don't want to participate in the experience, they have an ample cafe where you can enjoy cheese and other goodies, of course. In the end, the rooms are too packed and they get stuffy. Kids are being kids! They run around looking for the fun questions they have to find answers to and collect stamps (laps part of the questions sheet) for.

This tour worths the price. There are delicately designed and produced films and videos and interactive facilities to let you know how Gouda cheese is produced and fun facts of it. There is also a tasting session at the end of the tour when you can taste five dices of different Gouda cheese.

We had an amazing experience at Gouda Cheese Experience as we had a lot of fun and we learnt a lot about the cheese. I think the best parts were when we were looking for answers to the quiz and became Cheese masters and when we got to taste and try cheese platter while listening the explanation behind what we are tasting. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Well worth doing the cheese master tour. Interesting museum and very interactive. Plus the cheese tasting at the end, was excellent! We had some cheesecake at their coffee shop afterwards and of course we bought some cheese to take home with a souvenir.

I have done cheese experiences in France in real cheese factories, but this was artificially created, but still it was pretty interactive and occupying. We had audio guides and in between fresh milk and cheese tasting experience. We solved a quiz and hence were always interested to listen to audios. Overall, it was a good experience, if you have never visited a real cheese factory then I would recommend :)

Great experience, friendly staff, absolute fun for all ages! Kids had so much fun, each of them had a quiz on the paper and they were so excited to find the answers. The cheese-tasting in the end was my favorite part of the experience. Since we succeeded to collect all the stamps, we got discount for any cheese purchases in the shop. Recommend!

It's a nice experience in general and very educational about the Dutch cheese production. Of course this isn't as to visit a farm or real cheese factory but it delivers some fun that matches with the whole trip in Gouda. I think it's quite expensive for what delivers (€ 12.50pp with the RotterdamPass discount) as you only proves a few very small pieces of cheese varieties. It's nice to go with the kids, but in general I wouldn't classify as a must go in town.

Absolutely loved this tour!!! If you love cheese, this tour is for you. A history of the town, the factory, and the process give insight to the famous Gouda cheese, the namesake of the region. Must visit!!!

We have been around Gouda for about a year. We know this is the home of cheese, but took a while to go to the cheese experience. We finally went. From the very moment we were greeted to the very end of the experience, we had friendly and energetic staff help us. This has definitely made it on our list of "places to go" when people ask us what to do in the Netherlands. Highly recommended for anyone. Very interesting.

Amazing experience very interactive and even better cheese. Family owned which makes it even more enjoyable we had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous owner who transformed it from a cinema into a fabulous Gouda cheese experience with her mother . One of the best museum learning experiences I have had A MUST SEE IN HOLLAND !!

Definitely an experience. What a nicely designed place to make you a cheese master with a questionnaire to keep your interest piqued throughout. Totally recommended for the experience

Great cheese making experience, lot of cool attention, very interactive. Must be one of the best “cheese Museum” I visited. Sprinkle on top a gamification for our young friends and lot of Insta spot for the oldest. Friends and family friendly. The cheese is good, look for the “special edition” at the shop, we bring back a 48 month aged Gouda with us!

Must come to experience if you are in Gouda! From the start of the explanation, learning that Gouda do not produce cheese and only a place to trade cheese and learning that an execution was held in the past because of a person stealing a piece of cheese, had let me fully understand about Netherlands Cow and cheese produce. I like the extra old cheese best! 16 Eur per person comes with free Audio Tour and also get an experience to taste 5 types of cheese from young to extra old. Also with occasional surprise from staffs that came into room with Milk and a piece of cheese, makes the experience way too good! Highly recommended!

We had an amazing afternoon in this museum. It is done with so much detail, love and hard work. We loved the animations for Kids and grownups equally. Warmly recommend to everyone who wants to experience real Dutch cheese history.

Funny place but definitely geared towards kids. It's an interactive museum with an audio guide but and it was fun but better for a family experience. You will learn about the process of making gouda and do a small tasting at the end. The shop is also nice and we bought some cheese at the end

Very nice experience for kids and adults. A lot of info and interactive information about gouda cheese. There is also a cheese tasting included in the tour. The beginning had information in dutch which i had to translate and took extra effort but otherwise everything was available in english. The employees are also friendly.

This was such a fun way to learn about cheese in an interactive way. Yea there are silly parts, but it helps keep it interesting. The staff were all very friendly. We are glad we came.

A wonderful experience. It has a combination of old exhibits and new interactive shows. The experience takes you through all the stages of cheese making from the cows and the grass until to the marketing. There is a cheese tasting event in the end (~7 minutes) - delicious😋. The audio guide is a must. There is a challenge page with questions, if you want to become a 'Cheese Master', that my 7 yo just loved. Made him go through all ~50 audio spots. The price is about 15 € and is totally worth it

Went with my brothers (in our twenties) and my mother and we had such a fun time. Really engaging and the free samples we had throughout the tour was awesome. Truly a really fun and comical tour. Even got to dress up in Dutch clothing and take photos. 10/10 would recommend for adults

I would recommend this experience to anyone. Gouda as a whole was so unexpected but my favourite place to visit in the Netherlands. This cheese experience was maybe the reason why. So knowledgeable but also very fun.

  • 5/5 Danco D. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely worth a visit. Went there with kids, we had amazing time. They give you multi language audio guide, so yoy can really move at your own pace - learning about cheese: from milk to dinal product. Qt the end we had a 5-cheese tasting session to learn about young and old cheese. Finally, there is a shop, where you can buy your favoeite cheese...

You Gouda Go! I hope you enjoyed my pun… a fun and interactive place for both adults and kids to learn about the history of cheese making and a little bit about how they do it. We did it as a group of adults and had a blast!

Was a cute museum, very similar to the Chocolate Story museums. Very reasonably priced! A little unorganized and the staff constantly had to find the owner with questions for prices or menu items. We went relatively early so there wasn’t a huge number of people ahead of us but when we ordered they had run out of most of the items.

Amazing!! 2 hours of entertaining fun, never thought cheese could be so interesting. Went with 2 teenagers and we had a great time 😁 Staff were very friendly and helpful with the tour and the exhibits, cheese tasting at the end a delicious bonus. Would definitely recommend.

Don't really know why people are raving so much. Have been in many more better museums. Sure the experience is fun enough, enjoyable for kids, but it is overrated and definitely overpriced.

The best museum I have ever been. The stuff is great and friendly. The questionare they gave made me go back to my high school life which was the greatest idea. We spent 3 hours even without noticing. Thanks for this great experience.

We really enjoyed the experience! Lots of information in an interactive way, cheese tasting, possibility to take a pictures with typical dutch clothes and much more... The staff was amazingly nice and welcoming. It's deffinetly worth a visit!

An excellent exhibition, we previously went to the cheese museum in Alkmaar which was good but this is a lot better. More interactive and you get the opportunity to become a cheese master by completing the quiz as you go. Great for adults and kids. Good cheese tasting at the end. There is a bar and cafe inside. Beer selecting is good, didn't see the food menu.

  • 5/5 Andy G. 2 years ago on Google
Great fun, great atmosphere, great staff. I came away with more knowledge than when I went in - and more cheese. Set aside a couple of hours and have a bite to eat and/or a drink after you become a Cheese Master!
