Tolbert's was on my Texas Bucket List that I almost skipped, but I'm SO glad I didn't. I wanted to go to one of the originals in the Chili game, so when I saw it was 15 minutes from my hotel, I made it my trip's last dinner destination. The menu is much more than chili, but I was on a mission to sample both of their standard bowls. I got a cup of Red, sans chopped onions, and a cup of Chile Verde. The Red has a really good mild base flavor that I could eat repeatedly, but also tweak at home for my own family. If I make it back to Grapevine, I'll get the 5 alarm 😉 The Chile Verde is similar to the kind I've had in El Paso - very brothy. The diced pork was very moist & the diced green chiles, tomatillos, and other items were flavorful. It would be a great breakfast dish with some flout tortillas. The Queso Rojo was pretty darn good. It is their queso dip with a scoop of Red in it. The service was quick & efficient, the decor was pleasantly what I expected, and the people were really friendly. If you find yourself near Grapevine, make Tolbert's one of your meal destinations.

This was a great experience and they were not kidding when they said their chili is award winning. They have live music and a chill vibe. I would highly recommend that you try this place out for yourself. 2 people $30 (beer was ordered)

Perfect for this time of year, sometimes you just want chili. They offer different types. I got the Chili Verde. The 10 Alarm sauce to kick it up a notch was delicious. For those who want something else, they offer different options, like platters and salads. You don't see a lot of chili parlors in DFW, so it's worth a try.

Delicious! We were in town and wanted to try a highly rated eatery, Tolbert’s looked like it could fit the bill. And it definitely did! We were seated immediately and drinks were promptly brought out. Our server was amazing btw. I ordered the fried chicken sliders with fries. Hubby ordered the chili tacos which he let me take a bite of, yum! My sliders were way better than I expected, chicken breading was cooked to perfection. I almost opted out of the chipotle Mayo but I’m so glad I didn’t, it had a savory flavor with just a kick of spice. Loved it! I recommend giving them a try :)

Love the atmosphere of this Grapevine Main Street Restaurant. Very good service. Outdoor seating available. Live music at posted times. Good menu and traditional Texas spicy chili.

I enjoyed a nice lunch here on the patio on Main Street. GREAT people and service here. The food was good but not why I would return- it was more the environment and the location.

We also had the tri appetizer, queso-guac-salsa, and it was so good, I didn't get a pic..lol. Everything was cooked right, brought out fresh and we really enjoy the seasonings. My hubby said best Bowl of Red ever! My 6oz sirloin, loaded baked potato & broccoli were a fine dinner & yummy layer chocolate cake were just perfect packed, but you could still hear the table conversation. Lovely street scene, too. Come to shop, stroll & dine!

The place is busy and for a good reason! Food is nice, drinks are plentiful and the atmosphere is just fantastic especially if you catch a good band playing!

Happened to find this place looking for a downtown Grapevine restaurant. I have to say that I was wowed by both the excellent service and the delicious food! This place is a gem. I had the fried catfish with green beans and sweet potato fries (pictured below)! It was so good I ate it all and I wasn’t even that hungry! Lol I highly recommend trying this place. They are so friendly! Reminds me of Texas!

Tolbert’s has been one of my favorites since I moved to Grapevine a couple of years ago. For some reason I hadn’t stopped in a while, but my visit tonight reminded me why I love the place so much. The food (chicken fried steak, mashed potatos, asparagus - with the torpedoes as an appetizer) was stellar, as always, but the most enjoyable part of the meal was the service. There’s good service, and then there’s GREAT service. My server, Jaye, was 5 Star in every way. Attentive, but courteous enough to not interupt too often…and personality to burn. I hope she’s a permanent fixture, she made my meal exceptional!

Live music on a Tuesday night was nice for sure. But the food is not good in my opinion. I got the 12 oz ribeye. I ordered medium rare, came out medium/medium well. Chili had too much cayenne pepper, the consistency was right, but the taste was not. The best part of the meal was the bourbon & the fries. Won't be back based on the food, but again, the live music was great

The red chili was a savory but a bit salty, the Verde chili was perfect 10 out of 10. I just had the best icecream I've ever had in my life on the peach cobbler, it was light and fluffy and heavy at the same time, seems home made, wow!! Incredible place, I want to go back.

The fries here are seriously some of the best we have had. We have eaten here three times now and the fries bring us back each time. I tried the chili since it's supposed to be what they are known for and was sadly disappointed. It was bland and lacking flavor. I didn't even want to finish it. My husband enjoyed their blt and my kids both loved their chicken strips and grilled cheese. Salsa was pretty good and the tortilla soup was decent. Just wished their chili was better. I would still go back for just the fries, perfectly cooked each time. Service has been great each time too. Very friendly staff

Amazing draft list from great breweries around the US! The chile is where it's at, both Verde and red chili! The hand breaded onion rings are awesome!

Food was great, atmosphere is fantastic. Our server Maile was accurate, fast and so much fun. She was welcoming and made us feel so comfortable. It was a cold day today and the fireplace gave a warm cozy feel. I would give 6 stars if I could for the experience of eating here. We will be back!!

Gave this place a try today. Nice little place to go. Has that old small town vibes nice change from the big city feeling ever where else. Historical area just adds to the feeling. Was very easy to get a table . Parking was easy but at times will be difficult. Service was guick but not that great. Could be more friendly and show that they are happy having you as a customer. But I was alone and most treat you like you won't tip. But always do. Was early before live music was to start playing in the back of the restaurant. So what I had for my meal was the chili have been looking for some scratch made for some time. The chili was delicious all meat made it even better. The chili does have a bite to it . The flavor was right on point. The texture was also right on point. MUST TRY THE CHILI 🌶️. I also ordered the onion rings they were really good a bit on the small side and portion was also light for the price. But over all the food was good and I will be back again for the chili and to also try other items on the menu. But as always this is my experience also my opinion. I highly recommend the chili the #1 item to give a try over everything else. It's a chili parlor it's a must.

Took the family out for fall break and decided on eating at Tolbert's. The food was excellent and at a fair price. I had the catfish with hushpuppies with tarter and cocktail sauce. My sides were onion rings and a side salad with blue cheese. It was good. The fish seemed very fresh. I liked how they did the side salad with some crumbles in the blue cheese dressing. The wife had the chili, and I had to try it since they had won some awards. It was awesome. Great taste, with some spice coming through at the end. If you want more spice, eat that Serrano pepper. It was no joke. The waitress was the best. I didn't catch her name, but she was great. Short brunette. Very efficient.

On vacation here and looking for local restaurants. Loved the service, food and atmosphere. The food was very tasty, had the Lajitas chicken with steamed broccoli and side salad, husband had rib eye steak with sweet potato fries. It was very delicious and enjoyed it so much. Brandon was our attentive server who took care of us and a party of about 20 people. This is our type of restaurant and happy to have found it.

Tolbert's is great! The area is located right next to a larger parking lot with easy access to the road in scenic downtown Grapevine. During peak hours, they get very busy and servers are much less likely to work with you. I had to go to the bar multiple times to get food or drinks ordered while a band was performing.

This is one of the places on my list to visit whenever I’m in the area. The food is excellent - I have to get a “bowl of red” chili when I go. The hot dogs are great too! There’s a good variety of items on the menu - haven’t found anything bad yet. The atmosphere is great, the old building adds to the charm, and they have live music some nights. The servers and staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Stop by and try this place if you haven’t been yet!

We had THE BEST time here. There was a live band; they sounded amazing… Our server (Brian), was so knowledgeable and attentive and kind… and the food was absolutely delicious! It looked pretty packed but we got seated immediately. Definitely a must if you’re in the area.

Everyone was so welcoming ordered the taco bowl salad, onion rings, kids tenders and key lime pie. Everything was exceptionally great! Did not get sick from food which was a great plus. And everything was reasonably priced.

Tonight was my first time going to Tolbert's, and it will not be my last. We went to see The Alternatives and have dinner and a few drinks with friends. Our server was EXCELLENT and our food was very good as well. We had a great time and will definitely be coming back.

This was our first time coming here and there was a long wait but we set at the bar. We had frito chili pie and chili hamburger. The chili had ALOT of meat but it was ok. The chili had so much chili you couldn't taste the hamburger.

Love this place! They have awesome chili & we had an enjoyable experience! We also ordered some fried shrimp, onion rings, and fries (which is usually not my first choice to order) but it was actually so delicious - seasoning of everything was so unique & full of flavor! Service was great (Brian was super friendly & attentive). We went early in the evening but later in the night they have live music inside! We sat outside and loved enjoying the Grapevine Main St vibe! Totally recommend!

Came in for a quick bite before heading out to Prestonwood church for their stage show. The place is decorated for Christmas (as most of the town), and it was packed. There were five of us, and they seated us quite quickly. We all ordered mostly sides, and of course, we had to try the chili...it did not disappoint! I got the breaded winds and a side salad. The winds were very crispy. Their ranch dressing is thick and delicious! The cheeseburger looked amazing, and I was told that it was vary tasty.

Had lunch today with a buddy. We recieved a warm welcome and fast service. We both ordered the enchiladas, I had shrimp and he had the chicken. Both came with refried beans and rice. We also ordered the chips and salsa, and a side of guacamole. Our server was funny and friendly. The portions were large and we both agreed everything tasted fantastic.

The food, service and atmosphere are all great! The catfish is delicious. My son had the chili burger, I think the empty plate in the picture speaks for itself on how good it is. Glad we decided to try this place.

Went there to grab a bite to eat and listen to some live music. Get there early of you want a table. The frito pie chilli was good and so is the sampler platter. We enjoyed the band and the margaritas are strong.
