From a museum about perfumes you expect to delight your nose smelling incredible notes. And this exactly how it was designed. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, every sensorial experience was excluded from the visit. I suggest to make it clear at the entrance or on the website. In addition to this annoying “detail”, some part of the museum were poorly maintained, like the greenhouse where the plants are covered by spiderwebs, vases are empty and many plants dead.

Absolutely fascinating and well worth a visit! I spent over 2 hours in this wonderful museum learning about the manufacturing of perfumes and the history of scent. You begin by learning about how modern perfumes are produced and then learn about the art of perfume through the ages, starting with the ancient Egyptians. There are educational documentary videos in each room, along with historical artefacts and areas where you can smell the perfumes. As a history geek with an absolute fascination of the ancient civilisations it was wonderful to be able to smell the worlds most ancient perfume - Kyphi. And where else in Grasse can you see the hand and foot of an Egyptian mummy? There is also a fabulous greenhouse area at the top of the museum where you too may be lucky enough to spot Ginger the cat. Overall if you are at all into history or perfume, or both, this is a must visit.

The most interesting museum I have ever been to. it is very interesting for the kids and very educative. My kids loved the machines with the different smells of the perfume and also the the first jars from the begining of the Times.

Really interesting place, and well signed in several languages. Fun to smell all the historic fragrances and the raw ingredients. You can also stop and mix up your own fragrance near the end, and it's included in the entry fee. Of course the fragrances that I liked the best are really old and not produced anymore.

(Translated by Google) We ask at the reception if there is a preferential rate for the 3rd age as is practiced in Belgium, the person answers us "no, the old people of our region are in good health". Ok, the mood is set, indeed I walk with a crutch while waiting for the fitting of a hip prosthesis, but that does not allow this girl in her twenties to be insolent. This person is absolutely not in his place at the reception and the persons in charge of this museum would be well inspired to put it in 1 place where it could flourish, I propose that a promotion like madam pipi should come to him by right .

It is very thorough on all aspects regarding scent even the time before the modern age of perfume. The gardens are quite neat and the cost of only 4€ for the entry super low. If you are a fragrance lover this will give you great insights on all aspects of this vast industry. Due to the corona pandemic not all interactive content is accessible, note that. The visit is still totally worth it 👍🏻

Surprised by the volume of content, could have stayed there three hours easily. Was all very interesting, from the theory of scents to the very concrete aspects of marketing fragrances. And in a nice property with a beautiful garden to top it off; wild absolutely recommend!

Quite educational and interactive experiences about perfume. The exhibition starts with the production of perfume in the modern world, followed by the origins, history and the evolution of perfume industry. There are many artifacts, videos and scents that invite visitors to smell. At the end, it also showcases many collaborations between perfumers and writers, film makers, artists and etc. Overall, it was a very unique experience for me and I was able to know Grasse through this museum.

There is currently a heat wave in France. Except for the courtyard garden, it is very good to walk around here. There's plenty to see. The whole process is explained. Also through multiple video screens. You need about 1.5 to two hours if you also stop here and there to watch a small piece of documentary. No photos are allowed so that's why I can't add photos. Well worth the cost. Wheelchair friendly.

Interesting history of perfume. I was expecting for samples or perfume tasting/smelling. It’s nothing like that. It’s a lot of history how perfume was made and used and a lots of beautiful perfume bottles displayed from many centuries ago. We went there in September. So it wasn’t crowded at all. Not sure how it get during the season.

It is excellent idea. I am using perfumes and was looking forward to visit this museum, however it did not click for me. I think they have a lot of stuff to show and share but they need to reorganise this museum some how. I l left with very little memories of what was there which was very disappointing for me. Nevertheless I would recommend to visit this museum as it is unique.

As a guy, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this very informative museum. My wife was fascinated. Covers antiquity to present day, obviously with an emphasis on the contribution of Grasse to the art which became an industry. We spent over 3 hours there. I think a must if you are in Grasse.

As a perfume and candle maker, I absolutely loved this museum. So fascinating! Despite done of the reviews, I found it very well organized and easy to navigate. You start with the earliest records and artifacts from human produced scents and go to modern time. Along the way you see an incredible selection of beautiful perfume containers of all type. They even have interactive displays where you can experience the scents of many classic perfume ingredients. Allow at least 2 hours for the tour. Grasse is also a delightful town to explore.

Massive factory museum. It’s not the right one to go buy perfumes , if you want to purchase then I suggest you go to the Molinard & Fragonard ones down the road. This one is amazing for children as well to see how perfume is made and the history behind it. Interactive and vast variety of items and information. A lot of steps to climb up and down so wear comfy shoes. Every corner is a surprise. I’ve been to it twice .

That’s a huge museum dedicated to the history of perfume. It covers all the periods from the early ones like Roman and Greek throughout the French one to the current beautiful world of classic and modern flavours. It’s a true discovery. Even if you are not really interested in perfumes you’ll find it very exciting as it shows the connection between the human history and the evolution of perfumes. It’s a very interactive museum where you can smell lots of flavours which you have never even thought about.

There were lots of interesting things to see regarding the whole history of perfumes, but I was running for my workshop and couldn't see the end. It was overall interesting, though I feel that I didn't learn how the scent was extracted in a detailed way and was more overwhelmed by the usage rather than the science of perfume.

(Translated by Google) Well appointed museum, offering a whole history of perfumery and interesting workshops, unfortunately not accessible during our visit given the current health context. The friendliness of the staff is to be reviewed, who clearly wants to be urgent at the end of the day to push us to exit at the end of the museum, staying well nearby which was quite oppressive and spoiling the visit ... more than we were clearly not many, I dare not imagine what it must be when there are crowds. The exit is at another place of the main entrance, as a result I had to turn back to retrieve my umbrella, which obviously did not delight the staff, but at the same time this process and this arrangement are not practical .

It’s a great museum unfortunately with very rude store sales manager. I wanted to buy couple of books which it’s obviously additional. Lady in the store was rude enough to judge my outfit. If you consider I visited this museum during August it was extremely hot and humid. I would simply cannot recommend you to visit this museum because they hired such an arrogant employee, and if you want to visit this museum ( no matter what) do not even think to stop in the store. The way she looked at me was not acceptable. Such a great experience of mine tired to ruin by an employee of store.

The entrance was only 6 euro. You can stay 2 hours in the museum. Very interesting. You have a break in the gardens

  • 3/5 Loran A. 6 years ago on Google
The museum is decent. A big part of the museum is dedicated to the history of making perfume in the Grasse area, and the history of the bottles. I expected more info about the extraction and refining of the perfume. Although some interactive parts were in english, there was a bit too much left untranslated. All in all it was interesting enough for the price of €4! The garden terrace was a nice bonus.

We loved visiting this museum! We weren't sure what to expect or how much time to allot, but we were blown away by how interactive and fascinating the museum was. There's something for everyone - science, history, lots of things to smell! Most of the descriptions next to the artifacts are available in multiple languages.
