I
have
several
good
things
to
say
about
this
hostel,
but
a
few
things
that
also
need
improved.
I
stayed
for
about
5
days
before
moving
on
to
Honduras.
Was
visiting
from
the
UK.
First
the
good:
Julian
is
a
fantastic
staff
member-
super
polite,
helpful.
I
believe
the
lady's
name
that
does
the
cleaning
and
makes
breakfast
in
the
AM
is
named
Carla.
She
also
does
a
great
job.
Rene
provides
a
super
chill
tour.
It
could
be
a
little
improved,
but
honestly
most
hostel
goers
here
are
here
to
party-
so
he's
your
guy
for
a
little
bit
of
history
and
knowledge
of
the
neighborhood
and
also
a
great
way
to
find
out
where
the
pubs
are
located.
Honestly,
all
the
staff
does
a
terrific
job,
but
these
few
that
I
mentioned
by
name
stand
out
the
most.
Things
to
improve:
The
amenities
are
incredibly
outdated
and
beat
up.
The
pool
never
works
and
is
covered
over,
so
I
don't
know
why
they
advertise
it.
There's
tons
of
flies
and
roaches.
The
flies
and
roaches
aren't
100%
avoidable
as
the
inside
of
the
building
is
open
to
the
outside
like
most
houses
down
here.
But,
I
suspect
if
the
place
had
better
maintenance
and
care
from
the
owners
a
lot
of
these
problems
would
go
away.
From
my
knowledge,
I
NEVER
saw
the
manager
checking
up
on
facilities,
which
shocks
me.
Apparently
she
comes
around
only
before
the
owners
arrive
and
if
there's
a
serious
problem.
From
what
I
understand,
the
owners
live
in
another
country
and
only
come
around
2-3
times
a
year.
It
shows
that
they
don't
really
care
about
this
location,
compared
to
their
sister
location
at
Tequila
Sunrise.
Thankfully,
no
bedbugs
(that
I've
found).
But
that's
mostly
due
to
Carla's
care
in
making
sure
the
rooms
stay
clean,
neat
and
fresh.
Now
for
the
biggest
problem
that
needs
addressed:
The
security.
I
won't
say
it's
the
worst,
but
there
have
been
some
shady
characters
from
the
outside
come
in
to
'hang'
with
a
local.
There
is
an
individual
who
works
in
the
neighborhood
and
lives
here
(why
I
don't
know...)
and
on
many
occasions
he
has
had
friends
over.
I
think
his
name
was
Chance?
Chase?
Chester?
Something
with
a
C...Most
of
the
friends
are
OK,
polite
and
cause
no
problems,
but
at
least
one
is
apparently
a
known
drug
dealer
in
the
neighborhood,
according
to
what
I've
been
told.
OFTEN,
and
during
the
week
and
weekend,
there
is
excessive
drinking
and
drugs
at
all
hours
of
the
day.
To
my
knowledge,
only
weed.
Regardless,
other
guests
have
complained
about
the
excessive,
open
smoking.
This
is
especially
the
case
when
it
starts
as
early
as
9AM
and
continues
all
evening
and
into
the
next
morning.
To
provide
an
example
of
this
becoming
an
issue:
During
my
time
here,
a
man
who
I
hope
leaves
a
review
was
tired
of
the
smell
of
weed
creeping
into
his
private
room.
He
nicely
asked
if
they
[the
local
living
here
and
a
few
of
his
friends]
could
move
to
a
different
table
on
the
patio
away
from
his
window.
to
which
the
other
guy
that
lives
here
told
him
to
go
f*ck
himself.
Julien
handled
the
fight,
and
worked
with
the
manager
to
try
to
find
the
man
a
free
room
at
the
other
hotel,
after
apologizing
profusely
and
having
the
guy
and
his
friends
leave.
To
my
knowledge
the
guest
asked
for
his
money
back.
I
don't
know
why
the
other
man
was
allowed
to
stay
living
here
after
this,
or
why
it
is
acceptable
to
have
sketchy
characters
coming
in
whatever
like
its
some
guy's
personal
apartment.
Totally
unprofessional,
and
shows
poor
management
from
the
owners
and
the
local
manager,
especially
when
you
have
other
paying
guests.
If
improvements
were
made
re:
what
I
listed,
I'd
consider
staying
here
again
in
the
future.
Honestly,
there
were
tons
of
perks-
mostly
the
staff.
As
a
woman
traveling
solo,
I
sure
didn't
like
sleeping
there
with
shady
characters
coming
in
and
out.
Again,
most
were
fine,
but
there
were
a
few
that
I
did
NOT
like
having
around,
and
I
always
worried
about
leaving
my
stuff
unattended.
(What's
the
point
of
having
the
buzz-in
door
when
anyone
from
the
streets
can
come
in?)
