This the worst hostel I've been to in Guatemala and the owner is one the worst guy I've ever met. We booked in advance two beds in a dorm but when we arrived the owner rudely told us to wait without willing to tell us why. After 1h30 waiting, thanks to a nice volunteer that was working there (the owner still didn't care), we learned that he gave our beds to other people. He tried to gave us a room with one double bed and asked us to pay more money for something we didn't order. We had to argue with him to only pay what we were supposed to and for a room less good that what we wanted. Crazy! In the morning, we couldn't get the breakfast because they told us the wrong time schedule and we had to take a shuttle. The beds are uncomfortable and there are insects in the bathroom. Don't go there!

There was mold on the bedroom wall(I have pictures). The men's bathroom/shower had a curtain over the see through frosted glass door but the women's did NOT. The curtians on the rooms were see through if your lights where on. There where small mites all over our room. Yes the place was dirt cheap but the safety issues with the womens bathroom and our bedroom(private) was very disconcerting. Dont stay here if you are female please. Really they need to change this.

We booked a private room, but the staff let other people stay in it so that we had to sleep in the large dorm instead. The beds are not clean, and there is only 2 bathrooms for the whole hostel. Definitely not recommended.

Good location. Check-in was complicated (Sept 2022). Decent budget option in good part of the town.

Do NOT Stay there! be careful about your stuff!. I spent two nights at this place! my friend left my phone and charger at the reception with my name on it! a Guy who works for the hostel open the bag and did a Factory Reset for my phone and start using it! I couldn’t find the charger and when I asked him what happened he said that maybe a another guest stolen it!! I asked him to watch the camera and he rejected! he said “I don’t have the password! it’s only with the owner, we are not responsible for your stuff “ really? even it was at the reception?!

Read my review below please and here is a screen shot of proof that I stayed there. And the pictures of the mold. The owner needs to just apologize and stop saying people have not stayed in his establishment and fix a few simple things.

We booked a private room on Booking, when we arrived we got a stinky room in the corner without windows, the bathroom was horrible as well. We wanted to leave because we could not stand the smell, but they refused constantly, even after we ofered to pay a cancelation fee. They agreed to change our room for a different one but with shared bathroom. Not recommended.

I was robbed there near to the metro station like 20metres away at 8 in the evening, a guy punch me in the face and took my phone out of the hand, after jumped on motorbike waiting with another guy at the corner, the security of the metro didnt do anything and I waited like 45mins for police, nothing happened nobody came. Stuff at the hostel was nice BUT I highly recommend everybody to NOT go to Guatemala City, rumors are true and its super next level criminal, another friend was robbed there a few days later, sadly no tourism there will mean even less opportunities for ppl there.

Sadly there is a very bad bed bug outbreak so I would call first before booking!! They did not offer a lower price after I told I slept horribly because of it. Besides that, I loved the place and considering the low prices, don’t expect too much.

I have several good things to say about this hostel, but a few things that also need improved. I stayed for about 5 days before moving on to Honduras. Was visiting from the UK. First the good: Julian is a fantastic staff member- super polite, helpful. I believe the lady's name that does the cleaning and makes breakfast in the AM is named Carla. She also does a great job. Rene provides a super chill tour. It could be a little improved, but honestly most hostel goers here are here to party- so he's your guy for a little bit of history and knowledge of the neighborhood and also a great way to find out where the pubs are located. Honestly, all the staff does a terrific job, but these few that I mentioned by name stand out the most. Things to improve: The amenities are incredibly outdated and beat up. The pool never works and is covered over, so I don't know why they advertise it. There's tons of flies and roaches. The flies and roaches aren't 100% avoidable as the inside of the building is open to the outside like most houses down here. But, I suspect if the place had better maintenance and care from the owners a lot of these problems would go away. From my knowledge, I NEVER saw the manager checking up on facilities, which shocks me. Apparently she comes around only before the owners arrive and if there's a serious problem. From what I understand, the owners live in another country and only come around 2-3 times a year. It shows that they don't really care about this location, compared to their sister location at Tequila Sunrise. Thankfully, no bedbugs (that I've found). But that's mostly due to Carla's care in making sure the rooms stay clean, neat and fresh. Now for the biggest problem that needs addressed: The security. I won't say it's the worst, but there have been some shady characters from the outside come in to 'hang' with a local. There is an individual who works in the neighborhood and lives here (why I don't know...) and on many occasions he has had friends over. I think his name was Chance? Chase? Chester? Something with a C...Most of the friends are OK, polite and cause no problems, but at least one is apparently a known drug dealer in the neighborhood, according to what I've been told. OFTEN, and during the week and weekend, there is excessive drinking and drugs at all hours of the day. To my knowledge, only weed. Regardless, other guests have complained about the excessive, open smoking. This is especially the case when it starts as early as 9AM and continues all evening and into the next morning. To provide an example of this becoming an issue: During my time here, a man who I hope leaves a review was tired of the smell of weed creeping into his private room. He nicely asked if they [the local living here and a few of his friends] could move to a different table on the patio away from his window. to which the other guy that lives here told him to go f*ck himself. Julien handled the fight, and worked with the manager to try to find the man a free room at the other hotel, after apologizing profusely and having the guy and his friends leave. To my knowledge the guest asked for his money back. I don't know why the other man was allowed to stay living here after this, or why it is acceptable to have sketchy characters coming in whatever like its some guy's personal apartment. Totally unprofessional, and shows poor management from the owners and the local manager, especially when you have other paying guests. If improvements were made re: what I listed, I'd consider staying here again in the future. Honestly, there were tons of perks- mostly the staff. As a woman traveling solo, I sure didn't like sleeping there with shady characters coming in and out. Again, most were fine, but there were a few that I did NOT like having around, and I always worried about leaving my stuff unattended. (What's the point of having the buzz-in door when anyone from the streets can come in?)

I had to leave this hostel at 2am due to bed bugs. I just saw another review on Google from 3 months ago where a traveler mentioned bed bugs as well...cannot believe they have not fixed the issue.

My first place was overbooked, therefore the people of that place transferred me to this place. Unfortunately I didn't had a great experience here. The bathroom was not clean someone threw up in the bathroom and they did not cleaned it up at all. It seemed like the bathroom was not being cleaned for a whil. The receptionist was very rude and cold. He did help me with checking in and out, but besides that it was not what I expected. However, the internet connection was good and the shower worked fine. The room itself was sufficient for one night but it was not comfortable. The place is not expensive at all so I did not had high expectations, which you should not have as well when booking here. I didn't made use of the breakfast service so I can't tell anything about this.

Stayed one night December 11, 2021. Q65 for one bed in the four-bed upstairs dorm. Kitchen is small, but equipped with utensils and pots and pans. Two shared bathrooms. One is spacious and quite nice, the other is smaller with external sink. Both were fairly clean. Breakfast (included) was two pancakes, a banana, and some papaya. Staff were fantastic; they seemed like volunteers and fellow travelers. Planes fly pretty close overhead, but that did not seem to disturb my sleep. There might have been lockers (i forget), but they were not in the room. The door to the upstairs bedroom does swing open unless it is locked from the inside; our ad-hoc solution was to jam it with a shoe.

The hostel is located in a relatively quiet street although on the Eastern side and not the Western as shown on the map. It has a nice patio with chairs and tables under umbrellas and with sofas on the side. The dorm is really great with the capsules that include everything a traveler might need for the night: lights, power outlets, fan, curtain and a little safe that also serves as a shelf. The only but major problem with the hostel is their insistence to play loud music from dusk till dawn. I don't know why they think forcing their musical taste on everyone is a good idea, but I left after just one night because of this and I would be very surprised if I were the only one who is not happy about it.

Nice area, lots of bars and restaurants around. Super nice staff. Very basic dorm, uncomfortable beds (you feel the springs digging into your back), towels are heavily stained, and there was supposedly a free breakfast but was not told anything and others said it didn't happen too.

The condition of the hostel is dull, dark with dirty toilet. I booked the bunk bed room and they transferred to the capsule room. Family stay in the hostel with kids making noise around. There isn’t any hostel vibe at all. All the good reviews clearly not reflected the condition and I doubtful of that. Only good point is the location to the main square. The area is not very safe at night. Stay somewhere else if you have the options.

Rooms were okay according to the cheap price we paid, but the service was super cold... I came back to Guatemala City and prefer to take an other Hostel more far away from where we needed to go instead on re-booking here. But the price is really cheap and the rooms are decent, i just don't like rude ppl at the reception but it's my boundaries!

Great location and very good facilities, I didn't actually sleep here but needed a safe space to stay for the day while waiting for my night bus on two different occasions in Guatemala city. The bedrooms looked clean and I made use of the kitchen which was fully equipped. Spacious and clean bathrooms too. Staff was friendly the first day but the man on the second occasion was a little colder and tried to make me pay to use the toilet.

The hostel was good, nice atmosphere, clean... !!BUT!! —> I got bugs (bed flees, puces de lit, pulga de la cama) in my bed 😡!! I was sleeping in the dorm of 10 beds that has it s windows on the street. My boyfriend slept in another bed and got nothing.

Inviting traditional Spanish home! Wonderful staff! And perfectly placed at the Heart of Zona 1. A brisk 5 minute walk places you at the Historic Main Square or shopping the renown Sexta Avenue!

Amazing place to stay. The staff is super kind. I stayed up until 3 am talking with everyone at the hostel. For that price with that nice breakfast included is just awesome. Bathrooms with good space and a little jacuzzi if you want to. Rooms are nice, you will not spend that much there because the common area is pretty attractive. It is close to almost everything in zona 1. Thank you, Juan.

Excellent hostel. Really clean, big bathrooms, loads of ecofiltros to top up your water. The beds are super comfy and clean. There is a lovely courtyard to relax in. The Internet is fast, the music is varied and all of it has been excellent. The hostel has a really great vibe. Plenty of places to sit and relax and an excellent atmosphere. The staff are lovely and they really understand how to deliver excellent customer service. Saul, in particular was amazing. Really professional, kind, friendly and super helpful. They speak great English too! I would definitely stay here again. Really close to long distance bus stations which makes it really convenient.

Very nice hostel, Hot shower, great location and safe location ( for Guatemala city ) adorable staffs ,good breakfast( jam and pancake delicious ) , a haven of peace in the middle of the city centre well equipped common kitchen. The capsule dorms are geat with full privacy, fan and even equipped with a personal safe where you can recharge your mobile phone. The only flaw is that the bathroom need some renovations .

its an awesome hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. They have one of the best bathrooms and with really nice and hot showers, which is hard to find in Guatemala. It is clean and very central right in the heart of the city. They even got a small jacuzzi! Would totally stay there again :)

Nice vibe, a little rustic but perfectly comfortable. Cool design with the tiles and quotations painted on the walls, and great pancakes, fresh fruit, caramel spread and coffee as part of the free breakfast. Noisy spot however, be sure to grab earplugs from the front desk or you will not sleep (city traffic, aeroplanes, church bells). Pleasant outdoor communal area for breakfast in the sunshine, and two colourful budgies for company.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a few days upon arriving in Guatemala. The location is excellent - right in the center of Zona 1, which has the historical center, shopping, close proximity to a number of long distance and local bus stations, and only 10-15 minutes drive from the airport (less than $10 taxi). Staff was always present and eager to help. The owner, was quick to assist, explain, and suggest things to do. There were a few other employees doing general maintenance and cleaning on-site throughout the day. Laundry service was available for a low price. I never waited for a bathroom and found the hostel to be clean and well kept - and I'm very picky. The breakfasts were superb - who doesn't like pancakes and fruit? There was beer for sale in the central courtyard, which doubled as the lounge. A computer was available for guest use also. The rooms were incredibly spacious compared to most hostels I've stayed in! The hostel was quiet for sure, although everyone hung out in the courtyard. If you're looking for a party, there are bars and restaurants very close by, but I appreciated the ability to sleep uninterrupted, and should you be an extra light sleeper, I liked the free earplugs in the jar at the desk. Another thing to mention - the hostel was very secure - the door to the street could be opened from the front desk only. There were lockers to place valuables in. Overall I would recommend this hostel. There is a small pool in the courtyard also, but the weather was not hot enough for my enjoyment! My one suggestion to guests - bring mosquito repellent!

Our other hostel was overbooked but we were nicely welcomed by the staff in Nostaltic hostel even though we came late and without a reservation. One of the guys that worked there cooked some dinner for os for free, which was really nice of him.

We needed a place to store our belongings for the day, and they were extremely accommodating. We stayed at a place nearby but unfortunately we were unable to house our belongings until our flight later that day. While we didn’t have the pleasure of staying, we were able to have a wonderful interaction and experience with the hosts. They were so kind and understanding of our situation. They asked nothing in return of us. We did view the place and the accommodations appear wonderful for a single traveler, couple, or a group looking for accommodations in a thriving area for a reasonable price. They are basic and have everything you might need for one day +. They have a welcoming and homey environment. Highly recommend if only for personable interactions with the hosts.
