I've been there for a week and i have no complaints. The service is top, the room was neat, great view. Is an old building yet feels fresh, don't expect high tech features but despite that, 100% recommend.

Nice hotel, though it feels a bit dated, but that just might be the look they want. Good service, employees all spoke English. Rooms were comfortable and spotless. Hot water in the bathroom was scalding hot so be careful with that!

5 star hotel, 1 star service. I had a reservation for the wrong Friday, i asked for help and was told to contact support via email, waited for hours in the lobby before going to get some food. Still nothing by the time i came back at night. Had to find another hotel in the middle of the night. Only received a reply email in the morning asking me to talk to the hotel in person.

Really nice hotel with all the amenities inside it. is very close to the airport. The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast had virtually every option you could want. The Striker’s Bar was a great place to grab a snack, a drink, or dinner.

Stayed here for one night. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel looks very well managed. Rooms are clean and spacious. Buffet had a good variety. There's also a sport bar and a japanese restaurant, as well as a souvenir store where you can find a little bit of everything.

A wonderful hotel with some good food options inside the hotel including a sports bar, Japanese restaurant, and buffet for breakfast. I have status with Expedia and they recognized the status which does not always happen. We got a free drink at the bar, fruit in our room, and a courtesy call to make sure all is well! On our first stay here the first night of our trip, we piggybacked a friend's status which got us an upgrade to the executive floor. The airport shuttle runs every hour 24 hrs a day. Would definitely stay here again.

Long overdue review. Chose this property mainly because of the location since it is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport with free shuttle bus, and it was close to restaurants and shopping options. Spent 4 days with my daughter and I was initially concerned about being kids friendly, but my daughter loved it. Our room was a little dated, but it boasted a great view of the city with comfortable beds and clean bathroom. We enjoyed the swimming pool as well as the oversized jacuzzi. We had free parking which was convenient and safe. Walking distance we had a few dinning options and several places to go shopping. Customer service was friendly and efficient in both Spanish and English. The only drawback is that the hotel is showing its age.

It has a good and low price at time and breast was good. Pool was good but don’t recommend if there other place cause air conditioning wasn’t good. Couldn’t sleep and had to shower to be able to sleep. Plus you have leave a key card on the door to keep the electrical going on the room. If you didn’t want your room hot And the key card had to be redone every time you left the room just incase you put it next to your phone. Over night staff had a attitude.

I have been here often the customer service has gone down. Some rooms have great views of the volcanos others not so much. Front desk was dismissive first day attentive second. Probably had an off day.

The hotel is nice and clean. It’s the kind of nice that your parents would appreciate. The breakfast is the only reason I gave the hotel 2 stars. Besides the breakfast the food is pretty bad. We went to the sports bar and there were 4 other tables. It took them an hour to bring out our apps- waitress never came to check on us. We kept looking over and none of the waitstaff thought to check on us. When we said that we would like to cancel our order then all the sudden our food would be out in a few minutes. Burgers were undercooked. Waitress only seems to check on us or act like she cares after we asked to cancel our order. Spend your money on food that is actually edible.

Hotel was very pretty. Had a nice balcony room. It was my 10 yr old daughter and myself and we stayed only 1 night before a flight but I’m glad we did. We went to the pool and my daughter swam as I sat in the jacuzzi and relaxed with was nice and warm. I am glad the pool was open till 10pm. Wish it stayed open a little longer but I was happy with it and we enjoyed. They have sports bar with food that’s open till like 1am! I was so glad because we didn’t have to rush from the pool and worry about not having no food since it was open late. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and fries and wings and had room service deliver. It was delicious! Only thing is the lady that delivered the food said she didn’t have change and would need to bring my change back and stated she would slide it under my door in an envelope and she’d be right back but she never did bring my change. It was only a like $5 US but it’s the principle. Also, the bellhop was mad I didn’t let him bring my bags to the room at check in so he refused to let me use the luggage cart. Even the lady checking me in told him in Spanish and he just took our luggage off and walked away with the cart. He was expecting a tip and I didn’t have change so I just asked to use the cart myself but he got upset. I didn’t let those 2 things ruin our night tho and I would still return again. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and late restaurants on site. And they also had a free airport shuttle that ran hourly.

Nice, safe, and close to the airport! I had to leave for the airport at 4am and the staff helped organize a shuttle to take me there. There are several options for restaurants, and the food is alright although relatively expensive

Centered in one of the safer zones and security takes away any feeling of worry. Everything about this hotel made this country boy feel fancy. Lobby is exquisite. Dinning area has about any breakfast and juice imaginable. Pool is Olympic size. Used this hotel both times I have been to Guatemala. Our room left a little to be desired.

Friendly staff especially at the restaurants on the property. Rooms varied based on what floor you are on. The second time we stayed on a higher floor and it was nicer.

The phone in the room didn’t work, a card for the room didn’t work, first room they gave me reeked of cigarette smoke. Was my first 5 star hotel and was excited for it but I’ve had better experiences either way two stars before.

The meeting and convention spaces could use a touch up. The staff, especially the waiters and catering, are dedicated and thoroughly prepared. It was a nice experience.

The experience was amazing. The anemities were excellent. Lots of activities to do, including massages. The free breakfast buffet was outstanding. Lots to breakfast options to choose from. Only thing I didn't like was the shower, it leaks from the corner and had to use towels to absorb the water. Otherwise, it was an amazing experience and worth going back. The people were friendly, and most were bilingual so it wasn't hard to communicate.

The hotel is a gem in the heart of Guatemala City! Let's start by the location: just about 15/20 min FM the airport, it has all kinds of restaurants around and different stores to shop. If you don't feel like going out, they've their own restaurant and a sports bar. Then the hotel itself is very well cared and clean, with someone of the staff always reachable but not too close to the guests. The entrance is gated and guarded in every angle, so you can feel safe and protected against any threats. And lastly, the staff, very cordial and pleasant. Overall great experience, will certainly come back soon!

Awesome! Super good experience all the way! Loved the buffet and the amenities. It's really on the heart of the city and it's really near to all restaurants and bars. I 100% recommend it!

This place offers everything that you can ask for. Good food, nice drinks, and a nit customer service. Highly recommend 👌, specially due to location, as you can get everywhere in the city within 1 hr or less.

Great hotel, great location just right in the middle all the great restaurants and malls. Good service, employees all spoke English. Rooms were comfortable and spotless. And of course a 10 out of 10 recommend. Can’t wait to come back here again and visit.

The Barceló Hotel in Guatemala exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the warm and friendly staff made me feel welcome. The hotel offers a luxurious and memorable experience with its stunning architecture, elegant lobby, spacious rooms, and top-notch amenities. The hotel's attentive staff ensures a memorable stay, and its facilities, including a swimming pool and fitness center, provide excellent service. Conveniently located near the airport, the hotel offers easy access to tourist attractions and other amenities, making it a top choice for travelers seeking a luxurious and memorable experience in Guatemala.

Located 10 min from La Aurora Airport, well this is with no traffic. Very nice, clean good staff ready to help, has3 restaurants diferent type of menu. They have a shuttle but I did not use it was not available at the time I left to airport, besides this all is góod in this hotel.

Overall the hotel is excellent, the rooms are a bit outdated but they are comfortable and extremely clean and quiet and in a really good location. The breakfast buffet here is incredible, and the hospitality that the staff provides here is also incredible.

We started our trip in Guatemala City. Since we flew a red eye from the the US from West to East coast. We decided to rest up before starting our adventure. The hotel was clean but probably due for some aesthetic upgrades. Rooms were good and functional. Plus side is the hotel has a pool although it was warm outside and pretty crowded. It also has a gym for basic workouts. As for food, our larger group ate in the lobby bar and ordered from the bar menu. Food was pretty good but it did take some time for food to come out. I suspect the kitchen was busy with a booked event as well as our group was about 20 people.

Had an excellent experience staying for 4 nights in Guatemala City. The rooms are big, beds are super comfortable, staff service is great. The complementary hotel pickup and drop off from airport is excellent with every hr service. Location is great too and close to many restaurants and fast food. Highly recommended.

It is one of the more luxurious places in town and I find it attracts a lot of well funded ( by Guatemalan standards ) rich men. Intend to get invited there off of grindr. It's comfortable and some of the accommodations are extremely nice. I can't think of anything that disappointed me except for maybe our shower door was stupid.

Great location close to airport. Hotel staff charged us an extra $60 to check in 2 hours early which was a bit odd since the entire room was only $80. Lobby is nice, pool area and restaurants are nice but the rooms could use a little upgrading. There was also a very rude Austrailian guy who yelled at me for sweating too much in the gym...like omg sorry for working out!

Barcelo has seen better days. Still a great place for a quick night before flying out but the rooms are showing their age. The staff are top notch and are very welcoming but the hotel is showing its age.

Fine hotel, but I don't understand all the 5 star hotel stuff. It just seemed like a basic hotel/room. Bathroom was pretty small.

  • 3/5 Samuel M. 7 months ago on Google
Old rooms, odd closing times for the restaurants and it was difficult to buy things. I was going to buy some rum but no one could figure out how to open the door and sell it to me. There are better hotels in Guatemala City, I don’t recommend this one.

Great hotel, great staff, pool area looks amazing, rooms can use some updating but over all is a great hotel. Nice beds, and the breakfast buffet is amazing.

This hotel is great! The employees are welcoming, professional and very friendly! The rooms are large, as is the bathroom. They have a couple of restaurants, one of which is a sports bar with a lot of great food, beer, wine and other alcohol options. They have an amazing breakfast with fresh fruit and plenty of other options! Oh, one more thing...there is a lovely shop filled with handmade items, souvenirs, food and drinks!!

Clean, pleasant staff, very comfortable rooms, and lots of security. Lol! Pretty accessible to main roads. Check it out! Oh yeah... and the workout room is pretty simple, but if you go within certain hours they have a nicer gym.

This was a fabulous hotel. Clean, comfortable, and affordable. I would stay again. The airport shuttle was also included in the price and started running at 4 a.m. The area is safe and the entrance and front desk is staffed by multiple people 24hrs.

Barcelo was extremely comfortable and the staff was very attentive. We received free snacks delivered to the room twice and really enjoyed the pool. The food could be better, but the prices were quite affordable for the hotel.

Terrible service. Scammed with our laundry. I asked clearly for the price and got the respons “no worries its cheap”. Turned out that I received a bill of almost $100. This is not cheap and as expensive for the room. They did not show any understanding, therefore.. TERRIBLE SERVICE

Resort feel, convenient location. We paid for the high-floor duplex room and felt very comfortable. We enjoyed time at the pool and meals at the buffet and sports bar restaurants. All worked well for our group of three adults.

I loved the environment of this hotel. It was very luxurious & elegant. We had a beautiful view from our balcony and the room service was just lovely! Check in & out was a fast process & the hotel was very clean. They only had double beds, unfortunately but it still turned out to be very nice.

Very clean and spacious. The hotel bar is very nice and has a large variety of liquors and cocktails with live jazz music every Thursday and Friday. Pool and tennis court are well taken care of and enjoyable for relaxing

Had to crash here last minute and it was great. Staff helpful and the amenities were awesome for us tired travelers- room service, pool, airport shuttle. Prices are closer to American costs, but quality and service are top notch

  • 1/5 RcNicol 1 year ago on Google
AVOID. I've stayed in 2 star hostels around Central America that were a lot better than this "5 star" hotel. This place is grossly overpriced. The service is not attentive at all and the en suite bathroom for my room was dirty. On top of this, my deposit for the room has still not been paid back (7 weeks now). I've wasted time with several tedious phone calls explaining the deposit situation which they assured me it has been dealt with (it has not). It was also a lovely surprise to find out that I paid double the price for breakfast than I should have. Rip Off.

  • 5/5 Serafin T. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice. My room was worked on after it was cleaned amd some construction items were left behind. It was ok for me so I didn't change rooms even when they offered. Everything else was perfect, great breakfast.

  • 2/5 Matt 1 year ago on Google
Just nope. If there are ~40 people in line for check in, and there is only one person working in the front desk? And that person is asking for people to verbally spell out their email addresses while she keys them in one character at a time? There's got to be a better way. I don't understand. At the very least move some resources around. I look around and there's probably a dozen employees here in the lobby alone, standing around.

Really nice hotel with all the amenities inside it. Only stayed one night before going to the airport, which is very close-by, so we didn’t venture out in the area. Not sure if it’s a safe area or not, but there were armed security guards 24/7 and high walls around the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast had virtually every option you could want. The Striker’s Bar was a great place to grab a snack, a drink, or dinner.

Really nice hotel. Amazing service and so many restaurants on site. Breakfast is to die for.. rooms are really good, clean, spacious and comfortable. I will be here again. This was my 2nd stay and 11 nights of bliss..

  • 5/5 Vincent S. 1 year ago on Google
Good quality rooms and friendly staff. The airplane flying over might be loud since it is next to an airport. But it's a fair price.

  • 3/5 John H. 2 years ago on Google
Was historically a great place to go to and had great service, security, and amenities, but they seemed to have gotten too happy with that and not made improvements. Had issues on the last trip on our arriving and departing nights there. Don't think we'll come back, we'll go to a neighboring hotel that can provide better service for similar price

  • 5/5 Jennifer 1 year ago on Google
Rooms are huge and very clean! Wonderful employees that are over the top accommodating! Breakfast is complimentary and the best I've ever had! The green juice is my favorite thing! I totally recommend this hotel!!

  • 2/5 Scott K. 1 year ago on Google
Disappointed with my stay here. Upon arrival at 2:30, the front desk said 3:00 is check in but we have a room with twin beds available. I said I would wait until check in then for my reserved “ superior” room. She said well now we have a room with gueen bed. I went up to the room it was twin beds and people had smoked in the room. I went back to the front desk and they gave me another room with twins beds that still smelled moldy. I stayed in that room. The pool and spa are nice there, the location is close to the airport with a free shuttle, but the nearest restaurants are not that close for walking, except for McDonalds. There are much better options in Guatemala City, this was a very poor value and experience. This tiny memo pad and little pencil says it all..they don’t care about you!
