2nd & Charles is a great new addition to Gurnee Mills. They have a very wide selection of both used and new books on a variety of topics, along with some music and toys. It’s similar to Half Price Books, but this store is much larger, nicer, and brighter. The prices are also quite good. Although this isn’t of interest to me, I was also surprised to see a decent selection of guitars. 2nd & Charles is definitely a store I will continue returning to.

Amazing store that has everything like books, movies, music, instruments, retro game consoles and games. The store has its own entrance. Plenty of parking.

What a neat store! On top of being a well stocked book store they also carry a large variety of other items. Including themed shirts, puzzles and games, toys, gifts, gags and some wild decore. The mall was closed early on 4th of July but 2nd and Charles was open a bit later which worked out because I really liked what they had. The staff was also very friendly and helpful and let us know how to get a coupon for some %off.

My total came to $16.57. Tried to pay with $27 (a $20, $5, and two $1 bills). Guy at the register asks if he can just take it out of the $20. My tendency is to not take the singles from the register if I can help it so I was expecting $10.43 back which would have given me one bill instead of more singles. He said that it was the store's policy to only accept the $20 bill because it lessens the chances that a person will attempt to rob the store (I am guessing by playing the "I gave you a $50" game). I could have easily done the same thing with my $20 bill so I don't quite understand how this solves the problem but regardless, this seems like some seriously shoddy service. I get that stores don't want to train their cashiers how to do the math but this one should have been fairly easy to figure out. Between this and the highly religious nature of the store I plan to stick to Half Price Books.

Books are a good price, not many Spanish books for kids though. They don’t have bags after you purchase the books so I had to carry my books around the mall. Lots of things are organized & some are not. They also have toys & instruments, pillows,mugs. A little bit of everything. It’s a okay store.

Loved their vinyl collection found a ton of gems!!! Bought quite a few records from them, and make sure to price check the records that aren't wrapped! They had a few record players on display but they were way too experience for me to justify the cost (marked up super high) went to best buy and got one! But man their collection was awesome!

This place has everything you can think of. Anything from New books to old books to used books. Best yet, you will find them at great prices. There's also manga and dvds and movies and music and toys and video games and pop dolls. The place has endless options. There's just so much stuff to see and every time I go there is even more stuff. I wish I could buy everything. Last trip there I was able to find some first edition hardcovers of Christopher Paolini's entire Inheritance Cycle in great shape ( i dont mind reprints but there is something about first editions i love). Being bilingual, I was even more excited when I found a spanish sealed brand new audibook of Eragon for $2. All four hardcovers and the audio came out to $40. Take note though, they don't give out plastic bags so if your hauling, you will have to buy a bag. They sell them for $5 or $14.99. I didn't mind but if you're not trying to spend money on a bag then take your own.
