Jahangir Mahal and Shah Jahan Mahal are one and the same, which was built by Sher Shah, later Jahangir got this palace renovated. On whose work it got its name Jahangir Mahal, just in front of Jahangir Mahal is Shah Jahan Mahal in the north-east direction. This palace was built by Shah Jahan, whose length and width are 98X52. m. Built on the Mughal style, this palace is worth seeing due to its art style.

Built in the 17th century AD, the architecture is marvelous. This is a 3 storied structure, some places the steps are too steep need to take care while taking the stairs. The entry fee is 10 rupees, the architecture and the designs are just marvelous. Take your time and spend time in this marvelous place n get some fabulous photos clicked.

Jahangir Mahal is the Mahal named after the Mughal emperor Jahangir. The mahal is also called the Sher Mandir as it was made by the ruler Sher Shah Suri who had defited the Mughal emperor Humayun. It was later renowated by Jahangir that is why it has gots it name Jahangir Mahal. To the north-east of the mahal is the Shah Jahan Mahal which was made by Jahangi. The mahal is wide and has beautiful wall carvings.

Jahangir Mahal was constructed in 17th century by King Bir Singh Deo. Attractive architecture with bold & delicate lines. Inner rooms are not in good shape & needs attention. Views from balconies are magnificent. Noons are hot here.

The Palaces known as Jehangir Mahal and Shahjehan Mahal were constructed in the Mughal period during the time of Jehangir (1605-1627A.D.) and Shahjehan (1627-1658A.D.). Both palaces are located on the same campus, having a large courtyard. These palaces are the best specimen of Mughal Architectural style, having arched doors, carving, and Jali decoration. One entrance to campus opens to the Jauhar Kund and the other to the Vikram Mahal.

It is a part of Gwalior Fort. The present fort has a defensive structure and two main palaces, Gujari Mahal and Mann Mandir, which is built by Man Singh Tomar. Gujari Mahal Mahal was built for Queen Mraganayani. It is now an archaeological museum. The second oldest record of "zero" in the world was found in a small temple, located on the top of the road. This inscription is about 1500 years old.

Not well maintained. The ticket price is being wasted by MP tourism. But it is splendid.

The fort and its premises are well maintained and house many historic monuments including palaces, temples and water tanks. There are also a number of palaces (mahal) including the Man mandir, the Gujari, the Jahangir, the Karan, and the Shah Jahan. The fort covers an area of 3 square kilometres (1.2 sq mi) and rises 11 metres (36 ft). Its rampart is built around the edge of the hill, connected by six bastions or towers. The profile of the fort has an irregular appearance due to the undulating ground beneath. There are two gates; one on the northeast side with a long access ramp and the other on the southwest. The main entrance is the ornate Elephant gate (Hathi Pul). The other is the Badalgarh Gate.

The place is well maintained in terms of cleanliness but, lacks many basic infrastructure for tourists. The toilets are like any public toilets in India. Most of the high walls and stairs miss the safety guards/railings. Tourists have to walk through on their own with no specific walkways. Outdated signboards and instructions will leave the tourists dependent on random locals pretending to be the 'guides'. The one we hired charged us ₹611 for a tour of about 30 minutes and spoke only about a masala-fied version of history which appeared like a long silly WhatsApp forward.

Gwalior Fort, a magnificent architectural marvel, stands proudly in the heart of Gwalior, India, and it's a testament to the city's rich history. This imposing structure is a blend of history, art, and culture, making it a must-visit destination. The fort's sheer grandeur is awe-inspiring, with its towering walls and intricate design. Inside, you'll discover a wealth of historical treasures. The Man Singh Palace, with its stunning blue-tiled mosaic work, is a prime example of Mughal architecture. The Saas Bahu Temples, renowned for their intricate carvings, showcase the city's ancient religious heritage. The panoramic view from the fort's highest point is breathtaking, offering a sweeping vista of Gwalior and its surroundings. The fort's history is equally captivating, with legends of valor and intrigue woven into its stone walls. However, the maintenance of the fort could be better, as some parts show signs of neglect. Nevertheless, this UNESCO World Heritage Site remains an essential stop for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone eager to immerse themselves in India's rich past. Gwalior Fort is a living testament to the city's glorious history, and a visit here is a journey through time that leaves a lasting impression.
