A testament to Dutch history, build with colonial wealth, aka build with slave money but now a monumental building for all kinds of official bussiness. I loved the exposition of the colonial oppression showing our dark pages in history about how the Dutch had an equal part in the Slavery-era like all European powers at the time. It is good to remember the truth and not what was written at the time so we never forget.... and history does not repeat itself ever again.

The (public?) Province House of the province of North Holland in the historic and ancient capital Haarlem. It’s adjacent the prestine park ‘Haarlemmerhout’. The History dates back to the French times of the Netherlands. (Soon more info to come!)

(Translated by Google) I visited here once, apart from the work and meeting room, there are also many well-preserved rooms from the time of Louis Napoleon. (Original) Ik ben een keer hier binnen geweest, los van de werk-en vergaderruimte zijn er ook nog vele goed bewaarde kamers uit de tijd van Lodewijk Napoleon.

(Translated by Google) You could walk around freely when it was open to the public during the open monuments weekend. It is an impressive building, full of (applied) art and sculptures. This imposing monument should be permanently open to the public.

I visited the Pavilion Welgelegen Museum on a sunny day, and I was impressed by the beauty and history of this place. The museum has a long history worth knowing, from being a country house of a wealthy banker to hosting Napoleon and his brother Louis to becoming the seat of the provincial government of North Holland. I appreciated the well-organized guide that you can get at the entrance. It provides insightful text material with the museum's highlights, such as paintings, sculptures, furniture, and historical documents. The architecture and the garden are also worth the visit, as they reflect the style and taste of different periods and owners. The only downside is that everything is in Dutch, but you can solve that with a translator app or paying for a guided tour.

Very pretty, larger than you'd think, but it is not publicly accessible and tours of the very impressive interior are limited. It is in use as the seat of the provincial government.
