Truly an amazing place. My groupe and I where guide though this park by Ian Harmer and his colleges, and saw the rhinos up close.

It's always one of my favourite places to visit in Zimbabwe, along with the amazing views and the tranquillity of the Bush, it's also where Cecil John Rhodes is buried. So if you are passing through and you have a night or 2 stop in and soak up all this little jewel of a place has to offer.

I love this place, so close to Bulawayo. If you want to see Rhino in the wild ask the Game Rangers when you enter the national park.

An amazing place. See the san paintings at white rhino cave, climb Pomongwe summit, watch eagles soaring overheard, marvel at the balancing rock formations.

Okay, so if you haven’t been to Matobo National Park, I assume you’ve been waiting for my review but not even I will tell you everything in detail. It’s worth paying a visit. You can visit the World Heritage site, go on cultural trips or go on a game drive and oh, just take in some fresh air.

Truly an amazing place. Ian Harmer, our experienced and knowledgeable guide, edged our group within 10M of the herd of rhinos. He also shared the story of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts and his early campground in the park.

Great tourist resort. The park is managed by the Zimbabwe National Parks. It is home to the legendary mystical Njelele shrine. Many a wars have been fought and settled on these hills, the most prominent being Ihloka elibomvu war. The place has many historic caves with cave paintings recording thousands of years of history. There are balancing rocks which to defy the laws of gravity among them the awe inspiring child and mother rock, which seems to be shape of a mother carrying her child on her back. If you are lucky you will be able to see the much protected rhinoceros and other animals that call this place home. Of course you have to visit the world view a place where the grave of Cecil John Rhodes is found. From that vantage point you can see the Matopos sprawled majestically below you as if begging you to decipher its mysteries.

You can come for just drive and hike into (for 15 USD) or you can ask for guide who will take you to rhinos in 5m distance (for 20 USD / 2h). Amazing experience!

A park that doesn’t have much wildlife, however the scenery is incredible. San paintings and Cecil John Rhodes grave make it a worthwhile visit. If the park can be allocated resources to improve the fences and protect the animals, I think it would be one of the most unique parks in Southern Africa.

Visited several times and camped here once for an entire week. The scenery is surreal, out of this world. There is just so much to see and learn about. The bird watching is top knotch and there are always herbivores lurking somewhere in the thickets. I will be back again and again!

The Matobo nationalpark used to be a great park. Unfortunately are there no animals anymore. The roads are also not looking like a nationalpark due to many litter on the side of the roads. However, I can't recommend this park anymore!

I grew up here it is just so disappointing to see that the herds of sable and eland have disappeared and the cost to visit the area and highlight spots have double fee structures.

I feel they could have added mini maps for tourists as there is no network in the park whatsoever. In the long term They should also put network busters in the park so that there is network in the park to avoid any complications

Can be better. I wish they gave out small maps on what's where as there is no network in the whole park.

We were most impressed by the bizarre rock formations, the rock paintings and the tomb of Cecil Rhodes. In early February there were hardly any tourists like us here, the weather was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. (Original) Im Matobo NP genießt man Ruhe und unheimlich schâne Natur. Matobo National Park in my opinion is the most serene of all the game parks found in Zimbabwe. The rocky terrain induces an unexplainable sense of euphoria

  • 3/5 Filip X. 4 years ago on Google
You pay 15 USD per person and 10 USD for car to entance to the park. Then when you are inside if you want to see cave or Rother Cecil grave you have to pay another 10 USD per person for that... This is why in South Africa are a lots of tourists and in Zimbabwe just a little. You treat tourists like stupid cash mashine.

Except few beautiful impala/antelopes and similar trees all along our drive, we were not lucky to see anything different in this park.Though the balancing rocks everywhere is unique across the park, the empty maleme dam and the hot climate makes you very tired. We are happy to see the several free cave paintings of the Bush men who left their stamp in the sands of the time. Paying additional 10 USD for Rhodes grave and small world view point looks ridiculous to me and hence I skipped this monument. Entry ticket for tourists is reasonable at 15 US dollars. Fortunately we were group of 4 people and paid 80 US dollars for private car that dropped us back at bulawayo and hence I was not much disappointed.

(Translated by Google) One of the most beautiful parks in Zimbawe. Especially because of the grave of Livingstone as well as the rock formation of stones that are stacked on top of each other. These can also be seen on Zimbabwe's money. Not far from the Chobe National Park.

A lovely retreat away from the heat and dust of Bulawayo city streets. The location on the side of a rocky hill (koppie) is very scenic. The rooms are nice, but sometimes, the showerhead is a bit blocked. The breakfast is good. The owners are always on site and ensure a very efficient and friendly service. They helped us with lifts and storing our baggage. Definitely a place you can relax that you will be taken care of.
