1/15/21 - Spent 30 minutes here late afternoon with no wind, lots of ocean going birds around. Enjoyed watching the buffleheads feeding, would have liked to chase away the herring gull pestering them. Two loons in winter plumage, red breasted mergansers, eiders, goldeneyes, and a bald eagle. For the first time here I watched a female black guillemot diving for food, lovely birds. I enjoy hanging out by the large rock formations on the west side of the point. 9/9/20 - A birdy place to visit! With autumn coming on this is a great spot to watch waterfowl, both ocean going birds and migrating fresh water birds. Lots of gulls in the area, too. You might get lucky and see song birds in the brushy vegetation. Common eiders hang around here a lot, seeking mussels off the rocks (up to 80% of their diet, consumed whole) and small crustaceans. You could also see longtails, scoters, and goldeneyes and mergansers. It won't be long before Canada geese will be winging overhead in their big V's, headed south. Some photos are attached for your enjoyment. 3/18/20 - Several people walking here today in bright sunshine. The views over the rock formations at low tide are lovely, with Haskell Island in the background. Numerous common eiders were working just offshore. This is a great little property with landscape and habitat value way beyond its small acreage. I love to walk or sit here any time of year because you are nearly surrounded by water. If you like playing on the beach with your kids, go for it, or enjoy the views of the islands in three directions. It is fun to check out the tidal pools or to watch lobster boats working nearby. I love checking out the birds since there will always be several species close by in the water or soaring overhead. I've also seen harbor porpoises just offshore so keep your eyes pealed for them. Love this spot!

Beautiful. But the walk feels like your walking thru private property. Short walk. Pretty spot. Not much parking at boat launch. Luv these preserves

Lovely walk to the point from the parking lot. Too bad there is no shade once you there.

To the eyes and nose, it is lovely. Good for beach combing, observing, and wading. Beach roses, lilacs line the short trail. I hate to complain about ocean access...but from the parking area to the point it was so noisy with various engines. I went June 1, a Thursday, at 10:30 AM. Parking was half full (maybe could park 8-10 cars if no one parks badly); you share the public wharf parking pull-off with folks fishing off the pier and using the launch. So much going on in such a little space: a Mack truck delivering multiple large boats to the launch, lawnmowers along the lane leading to the preserve, boats in the water, jet skis, even a float plane overhead. I found myself wanting to get home to the city for some peace and quiet. Note: There is a pole where a purple flag is flown if sharks have been sighted. Wouldn't recommend being barefeet as there are many rocks and the sand is very rough and there were some broken glass bottles. No bathroom. There is a little shade by the bushes in the middle of the point when the sun is not directly above.

Beautiful area. The kids loved wading into the pools and catching and releasing little critters. So much fun. Really nice place to visit.

Short walk on a private road from the parking area. Stunning place on any given day!

Very scenic, easy walk from the parking area. Don't try to drive down down the dirt road, walk from the boat ramp.

👍👍 This sweet little trail is located right off route 24 for easy access. There is a dozen or so parking spaces but no rest rooms, grills, or picnic tables. The trails are clearly marked and are moderately challenging due to roots, mud, logs, and rock ledge that must be traversed. You are never more t...

👍👍 Adorable cove with a beautiful view out into the ocean. Lots of boats moored here and they make a nice photo opportunity. Nice amount of parking in the lot if you plan to launch here.
