Plus side: Very friendly and welcoming staff, eager to please. Breakfast was fine. Less than plus: Very dark and tired looking. Bed linen and towels lovely and clean. Chairs in room had dirty seats. Evening meal was alright, typically straight out of the freezer and onto your plate. I may be a tad critical with food as I'm an enthusiastic cook myself.

Room was what you would expect, breakfast was excellent, decent pub food for evening meal. Staff were very friendly and the locals made us feel very welcome. Great location for access to good walks.

Fantastic, friendly, warm and cosy. The food here is exceptional and very reasonably priced. We had a good hot bowl of home made soup and rustic bread and a sandwich for £9. Dogs and muddy boots welcome and an open fire.

Stopped in here to have a drink and tried to find where the toilet was first off so asked instead and was greeted with ‘yeah well you could’ve asked’. Whilst I walked to the toilet I heard the lady on the bar say ‘how rude’. I didn’t realise it was rude to asked to use the toilet at a place you were having a drink. As this was the way I was greeted, I soon decided I definitely did not want to have a drink there and decided to leave. I don’t really understand the need to have an angry tone when someone asks to use the toilet, in a polite manner I must say. Anyhow, quite a strange encounter and fairly pleased we didn’t order a drink whilst on the way to use the toilet. The blonde lady on the bar is not very inviting and didn’t make us feel at all welcome. What a shame when it looks such a lovely pub. Maybe customer service is something that needs a bit of work for the front of house staff as I don’t imagine this is how the management team would greet customers.

I did not stay over , i was a stranded bridesmaid , after our Limo broke down outside the pub , we went inside for an emergency beer and vodka, the staff were so lovely and friendly and the pub was quirky and giraffe friendly, now i am pretty sure it was giraffe's . They have a lovely garden at the back and serve you through a litte window so you don't have to keep coming back inside, I would go back again and stay for longer and have some food too.

Myself and my fiancé visited hayfield to go on a hike to the mermaids pool and on the way home visited The Lantern Pike Inn and we were both speechless. What a little gem, we were greeted by the lovely Pauline and Christine and were looked after so well. My fiancé had the Steak and Ale pie and I had the fidget pie and we were both amazed with how stunning the meals were. The meat option was full of beautiful tender meat and my fidget pie reminded me of a Sunday at my Grandma’s. What a beautiful reasonably priced home cooked meal. We will make sure to visit again.

Best steak and ale pie I have had in a long time. Simple menu, comfortable old pub setting and made to feel very welcome.

We had a walk to this inn from our accommodation in Hayfield on a very hot day, lovely route via Swallowhouse Lane avoiding the main road. The staff here are friendly and welcoming, we sat outside in the garden with beautiful views and had drinks. We had planned to come back one evening for a meal but when the time came it was raining heavily so decided against the walk, but we visit the area regularly so hope to be back!

Had a lovely meal. Great pint of Timothy Taylors. The owner was telling us us about the changes being made. Sure to have a return visit to check them out.

Great local pub. Under new management but still the same friendly local. Reasonably priced traditional pub menu. Open fire lit in winter. Dog friendly. Great beer garden for summer

We stayed near this pub and ate & drank there several times during the week. The staff were lovely and friendly and the pub grub was excellent! The meals were plentiful, an excellent plateful, which is always good for me, and some of the pies in particular, were lovely. The Fidget Pie was definitely one I’d not heard of before, but I’d definitely recommend. So, if you’re looking for friendly staff, friendly locals and excellent pub grub, then I’d highly recommend the Lantern Pike!

Amazing customer service and generosity. Helped us out massively yesterday after a stressful D of E weekend (during a heatwave!) Lovely beer garden too. We'll be back!

Can't comment on room but guessing based on food and service today that this would be comfortable. Had a massive well cooked gammon and chips all food brilliant...service kind warm and Derbyshire hospitality. Setting in high peaks beautiful.
