It's good to have a rare chance try out Eastern European food. I've never been there so I am not in a good position to judge whether this is tradional. Here are some fair comments: The pork dumplings: wraping is thick, stuffed with minced pork, fully. Meat were a bit dry. Cheese ox tougue pot, serve with crispy pastry : meat is tender. Delicious. Chicken Kiev: crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The sauce is good. Yet the potato chips were not on the same temperature. Some was cold and definitely not crispy at all while some warm and a bit crispy. (not sure if this is normal) The beer is great and they said it is the last batch as the producer cease operating. The soup is sour and not really my cup of tea. The service is not really up to standard, but to be fair this is a family business and the staffs are generally young. The owner (I guess, the man) is having conversation with us which is nice. The environment is a bit concerning, the air-con is not cold enough and there were one table having dripping problem. In general, is good for an Eastern European experience, it is rare in Hong Kong after all.

<The best and great deal Eastern European Restaurant in Hong Kong> Expect the Ukrainian borscht, I highly recommend the salmon soup ‘kaspian’. Definitely a surprise to all especially for who loves to drink soup with seafood. The pork pierogi, the ox tongue with cheese in clay pot, the chicken Kiev… everything 🤤😋 Will definitely visit again!!!

The thing that captivated me the most was the presentation of the dishes. They are all nicely plated and look amazing. We were also lucky enough to have our own private room which made the dining experience a lot more enjoyable. The service here was fast, polite and respectful but they weren't really welcoming in my opinion. I do not have a lot of experience in this type of food so I was really not used to the flavours, but I do believe each dish that I tried was well flavoured and the ingredients were relatively fresh. Moreover, the contrast of textures, from crunchy bread to soft meat, for each plate was well planned and well executed. The only thing that bothered me was probably the dryness of the various meats but they did have different sauces to compensate a bit for that.

One of the fastest order times I’ve seen in a non-fast food type of restaurant. Order to table is just a few minutes. Food is good. But expect small portions so you’ll need to order many items to feel full.

Been to this restaurant four or five times in the course of the last 3 years. The cuisine standards remain delicious. The services are getting worse and worse. All those actions to signalling customers to finish their dishes asap and took away their empty plates the moment they placed down their knifes and forks. Those new waitresses are serving without smiles. Fully understand what is happening still in Ukraine, nothing to be happy about. But they are still working in a restaurant and people are either trying to support the restaurant or they simply just come for great cuisines, a decent gesture to customers are still needed in the restaurant. Don’t think we will return to this restaurant unless they are looking at improving their services. No photos to share this time, no mood to take them during our last visit on 3 Dec 2023. We picked to visit on that day was because that was our wedding anniversary, and the restaurant was truthfully one of our favourite one until now.

If you're looking for a taste of Ukraine in the heart of the city, Ivan The Kozak is the place to be. The food is delicious, the wine is flowing, and the staff is as friendly as your grandma's neighbor who always brings over fresh-baked cookies. Speaking of wine, if you're not sure what to order, just ask the staff for a recommendation. They know their stuff, and they won't steer you wrong. In fact, they recommended a Georgian red wine to me, and it was like a party in my mouth. It was so good, I wanted to bathe in it. And when paired with the Chicken Kiev, it was like a match made in culinary heaven. And let's talk about the decor, shall we? It's like stepping into a cozy Ukrainian cottage, minus the snow and the cows (unless that's your thing, then I won't judge). The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the Ukrainian music adds a touch of authenticity to the experience. But the real star of the show is the food. The borscht is like a warm hug from your Ukrainian grandma. And don't even get me started on the lamb shank - it's like a symphony of flavors in your mouth. So, if you're in the mood for some delicious Ukrainian cuisine and a good time, make your way to Ivan The Kozak. You won't regret it, unless you regret not ordering seconds of everything. Five stars, baby!

This Ukrainian restaurant is a great place to gather with friends and family. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the food is delicious. The Ox Tongue w/ Cheese in Clay Pot is a must-try item, it is tender and flavorful, and the cheese adds a creamy richness. The Ukrainian Potato Pancake is a crispy and golden brown pancake made with shredded potatoes and served with a sour cream and dill sauce. I highly recommend this restaurant, but be sure to reserve a seat in advance, as it is often fully booked.

Apparently this place is very difficult to book so please call and make reservation ahead of time. Everything was delicious. Vibe is very homey. There was only one empty table during our visit. Definitely very popular. Great service and the honey moonshine is highly recommended.

Early reservation is a must. A small but warm restaurant. Foods are excellent. Wine and beer 🍺 are fantastic. Boss is nice and talkative. Staffs are nice, well.... still young and wish they will have some improvement (table service....). Will come again!

The dining experience is terrific! The deco is exotic, and the waitresses are very attentive and cheerful (which makes our day!). We have the borscht soup, signature cheese beef tongue stew (a must-have!!), lamb shoulder stew, salmon roe crepe and honey cake.

Nary a place in this part of the world can make one feel like a Cossack relaxing in his izba. The folk music and the elaborate Slavic décor make for a heartwarming visit at babuška’s; the delicate combination of meats, dairy and alcohol make for a meal fit for the heroic horseback riders in the land of sunflowers and blue sky.

The Ox tongue is really authentic, thick and soft, and with cheese taste. Chicken Kiev also is good, with melting butter favor inside. The potatoes chips are very crispy, and the beer is good taste with a bit sweet aroma . But the Borsch seems no tomatoes and plain, not much beef taste in, only major with beet root
