👍👍 Best food on the island and one of the top restaurants in the US!! We came once last July and had to come back as my birthday request. And now came back for an 3rd and amazing time. Absolutely beyond in flavors, presentation and cocktail pairings! Every food piece was perfection. Would 10/10 recomme... People often mention dish, meal, delicious, flavors, wagyu,

One of the best meals I’ve ever had… somehow every single course was perfectly cooked, balanced in flavor, and simultaneously yummy and innovative. The cocktail pairings were also delicious. Highly recommend as a special occasion/ nice meal location!

Small number of tables in this well curated dining Omakase experience. The show-stopper for us was the A5 Wagyu. Melt in your mouth on its own (it came with a very strong black garlic mustard and seared vegetables that I kept separate, also a beef upcharge of $100 for 2). We weren’t drinking alcohol, but the non-alcoholic cocktails were extremely inventive and on the whole, tasty. Some of the other dishes didn’t balance that well, the salmon in the snack starter was great, all else fine. Some parts felt like it was trying really hard with unusual texture or combinations but the flavor wasn’t there to pop. Scallops delicious and huge, the sauce was really heavy. The dessert also didn’t do it for us, not into the meringue chunks and flavor mix. A little cloying. We eat a lot of really good food, and this didn’t make the top 10 of the year even though it was the priciest. However, it was still a lovely meal and experience.

The omakase course was a dream for those who enjoy a palette with delicate flavors, subtle Asian fusion and local influences. Highlights were the seared scallops with a butter sauce that just begged you to overeat the brioche bun to soak it all up, and an interpretation of shaved iced that you wished was just widely available on the island…

Came here on a date night during our vacation in Oahu. Had high hopes for this restaurant as it is featured on EaterHonolulu. We ordered the Omakase with A5 wagyu. Here are my thoughts on each course: 1. Snacks: pretty enjoyable especially the kushi oyster and salmon over wasabi cream and cracker 2. Course 1 features hokkaido scallop on top of a vinegar, olive oil, calamansi and wasabi dressing along with crushed pistacio. Although the "dressing" was overpowering that it buried the sweetness and freshness of the scallop it is my favorite dish of the night. 3. Course 2 features sou vous cooked sablefish in a dashi butter sauce. This dish was is extremely heavy and salty. The tenderized diced up daikon and raddish could not save the dish whatsoever. The cocktail paired with this dish was equally unenjoyable as it has egg white and melon yogurt. It didn't balance the heavy and rich flavor of the dashi butter sauce whatsoever. This dish just didn't work for me...... 4. Triple A5 wagyu came with lukewarm tsuyahime rice and 2 slices of raw mushroom served in a small dutch oven. After the sablefish, I was hoping for something less powerful. I would've been happy with the wagyu and pinot noir. The black garlic sauce was unnecessary. So was the heart of palm and charred and overseasoned baby gem. I appreciate the thoughts put into this course but they just don't go well together. It was also not a good transition from the sablefish either. Maybe something like raw jicama would be better than heart of palm and charred baby gem? 5. Shaved ice was a much needed refreshment. I really appreciated the mint and raspberry to cleanse my pallettes from the previous 2 courses. Personally, i didn't like the crushed meringue. It made the dessert overly sweet. Hope you find this review helpful. I will not be going back to Bar Maze or recommend to friends if you want my honest opinion.

My husband and I went to Bar Maze to celebrate our honeymoon and could not have chosen a better place! The ambience was really relaxing and the staff were passionate and pleasant to talk to. The food was absolutely amazing and every dish that came out was unique and delicious. The set menu comes with a beverage pairing that you can choose to be either alcoholic or non alcoholic. I would 100% recommend this for a unique and exciting night out!

Absolutely wonderful experience. So much thought went into the food and cocktails, executed down to the detail. Michelin star quality. While I love trying something new, our meal was so delicious that I’d go back many times to get the current Omakase. We hope to be back when we visit Oahu again!

This is a special event or vacation night out for sure. If there was a Michelin guide in Hawaii, this one would easily be there. The chef worked in several Michelin restaurants (his full bio in on their website) and he is only 30! The staff was lovely and answered all our questions. The base price of the meal doesn’t include the caviar and wagyu that are extra (the menu shows the options). The wagyu was done perfectly and was the highlight of the meal, the salmon was our second favorite followed by the doughnut with caviar (a random creation indeed).

My husband and I came to Bar Maze to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was incredible. It is an omakase-style set meal with a snack, three dishes, and dessert. Every dish was beautiful, thoughtful, creative, delicious -- the flavors were amazing. Each dish is paired with a cocktail (non-alcoholic versions available too) -- they were also wonderful. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but we were definitely full at the end. Best meal we've had in Hawaii -- we can't wait to come back!

Is it a unique dining experience, yes it is. It was $350 before the Wagyu which then made our total for two $490. I gotta say, I still left kinda hungry. If you have a palate for exquisite flavors and pairings, this is the place for you.

We visited the restaurant during the trip to Hawaii. It’s my favorite restaurant in Honolulu. The chef tasting menu (omakase) came with cocktail (or mocktail) pairing. Foods were very elegant and deep in flavors. I enjoyed every course at Bar Maze. The service was very professional. They explained every dish about the ingredients and the concept behind each course. I would recommend you to substitute duck with A5 Miyazaki wagyu. It was so delicious and melt in your mouth. Ban Chan that served with the dish cut through the fat perfectly. I will definitely revisit the restaurant.
