From someone born and raised in the Texas Hill Country growing up with proper low and slow BBQ, this place does it RIGHT!!! Brisket with that beautiful pink smoke ring under the flavorful bark (exterior). Sausage with a great snap in the casing. Ribs that will fall off of the bone with a gentle pull. Everything juicy and delicious! Even though they offer delicious sauces I've always told people sitting around comparing regional BBQs by the flavor of the sauce that TX style BBQ cooks it right the first time and doesn't need any sauce. Give it a try in its pure form before adding extra flavor. If you need something to cut through the heavy meat flavor, crunch a piece of pickle or onion that comes free on the side. Thank you Sunset for being amazing. Curse you for being so tempting!

Legit southern BBQ smokehouse. Fall-apart tender, fatty, smokey brisket with slightly tart and sweet BBQ sauce. Homemade coleslaw and potato salad are excellent (although I personally like a slightly sweeter potato salad). Will definitely come back.

The best darn bbq y'all are gonna love! I'm so impressed with the system that's so thorough. You walk in and order your sides and then you get to the meat and decide how much you want or what you can choose from. Grab a drink to and pay for your lovely meal. You can sit inside or take it to go. I had the mini beans, mini corn 🌽, my friends had the spoon bread and also potato salad and it was so good! The sauce was perfect too! Just ask for spicy or regular sauce. And enjoy!

So, A good friend of mine from Oahu, Allan recommended Sunset Texas BBQ. He told me it's the most authentic Texas BBQ. So, I had to try it. I've tried,Franklin's, Terry Black's,Cooper's and Salt Lick. Central Texas BBQ staples. I gotta say Sunset Texas BBQ is pretty dam GOOD!!! Absolutely delicious. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for! Whole family enjoyed it!

We visited Sunset Texas Barbecue a few weeks ago wanting lunch only to find sadly they were closed (they sold out of meat which apparently told us this must be good!) We returned and found them to be open. Oh my gosh!! This is the BEST BBQ on the island that we’ve tried so far!! Hubby had the brisket plate and I had the pulled pork plate. Bursting with that down home BBQ flavors. Both meats were super tender melt in your mouth goodness. This will definitely be our go to bbq place and we will be telling our friends to give them a try. Oh and the staff were super nice making this an all around great experience. Mahalo Sunset BBQ we WILL be back!

I didn't know what it was like at first, but it was a recommendation made to us by a a close friend, and coming here, there was country music, the fresh smell of smoked meat, and a very long line from when they first open at 11 am. Lol. This place is obviously very popular and I can see why, the pulled pork was tasty and the brisket was amazingly filled with the good kind of fat and smokey flavor that you can't find at many other establishments. And as you sit down at their tables, there is an amazing view of their smokers. ♡ And it is to die for! Korean american owned Barbecue in Hawaii, this was a true Texas experience. Servers were very attentive and kind as soon as we walked in. We ordered half pound brisket, quarter pound pork belly, two slices of pork ribs and they gave a complimentary sausage link. With a drink, total bill came out to be ~$42. Brisket was so tender and it was as tender as Austin bbq restaurants. Highly recommend! We enjoyed brisket the most, but this doesn’t mean other items were bad; their ribs were tangy and sweet, crispy on the outside and meaty inside, and the sausage was also very tasty. Bathroom is available and they have plenty of dining tables inside. Tips: beef ribs are available on Saturdays only Parking was easy, many street parking spots were available right in front of the restaurant.

Amazing food! And very friendly stuff. We got there just 10 min before closing and still were able to finish food, no crowds, clean and nice space. I never eat corn and potato salad but this time I ate it all, everything was so good. Will come back for sure

I thought I had the best brisket on island but HOLD TF UP. They asked if I wanted by brisket more lean or fat or a combination and that’s when I knew I found the perfect place. Absolutely delicious, I have no words for the how good the beans were (I ate the whole container basically by myself.) and the fact they added two different sauces, white bread, pickles, and onions without each thing costing an extra $1.00. We even have enough left over for dinner and a lunch sandwich for tomorrow!!! 11/10

4.5 stars - meat was good, sides were hit and miss. Whenever we trave,l we always try barbque in other places, we've found great Texas style BBQ in Utah and Arizona and today in Oahu. We've had smoked Hawiian BBQ here before which is different but good and we were curious to try this place. Hawaii has a wood that is very similar to Mesquite which is what ww use at home in Texas to cook with. There are a couple of establishments touting Texas Style BBQ in Oahu, we decided to try Sunset Texas BBQ because it had the best reviews and many from Texans. It was good, IMHO the brisket needed to be trimmed more it was a bit fatty, my husband said the pork ribs were good (fall of the bone which indicates they were cooked a bit too long, they should have a bit of pull) but tasty. Their link sausage had an amazing flavor (it was the one meat I could really taste the smoke flavor). Their creamed corn was very close to Rudy's (a Texas chain BBQ place) and their coleslaw was very tasty. The sauce was kind of flavorless, but if meat is cooked right it shouldn't need sauce anyway (and theirs did not). The beans were okay, but not Texas style. Myhusband liked the potato salad for me it has a very strong mustard/vinegar flavor which I don't care for. Overall, we enjoyed our meal.

What a hole-in-the-wall gem this is. This is Texas worthy barbecue in Hawaii! The street parking is limited along with the seating, but well worth it. I ordered a Pulled Pork Plate, Brisket Plate and some Pork Ribs. Everything was on point and delicious.

Real Texas BBQ in the heart of Kaka’ako!! The owners are super nice and they take pride in their food. I had the brisket and it was so tender and popped with flavor. The seating is cozy and has a family feel. Love the Texas decor. I recommend the brisket and if you come on a Saturday get the beef ribs. They are excellent and are only served on Saturdays.

you won't regret eating here! we always get lots of extra meat because it makes for amazing leftovers!! everything is good! they make their own sausage, it's fantastic! you can taste the love and care 💓

Usually I take pretty good pictures, but in this case, everything tasted better than my photos looked. The beef brisket is a must-buy. It has the perfect mix of lean and fat meat and just the proper amount of seasoning. The pork short ribs were not far behind: slightly salty with a peppery sweet sauce, an excellent contrast next to the brisket. The pork belly, on is own, would be excellent, but with the other two meats, it seemed like a lesser version of the brisket. Maybe changing the seasoning for this one would be a good idea. All meats were slow-cooked to fall-off-the-bone perfection. The pinto beans with burnt ends was sweet and yummy. The cole slaw was not bad, but nothing special. The services were friendly and quick. ApplePay worked fine. Let’s support this local business, so that they’ll open more days during the week!

Listen to me. There are different sections of the country where your type of BBQ is preferred, but when you visit Oahu HI- Sunset Texas Style barbecue is a box you need to check off your list. Brisket seasoned & cooked to perfection. House made sausage is also a good choice. I tried all 4 sides I really liked the cream corn and beans. They sale the beef ribs on Saturday only, I'll be back

It is a great place. I am so glad that I found this one. Even I loved the country music at the restaurant. Only one issue was I got there around 2.00pm when only two options left. Side menus are great. I think I have to visit this place before I take flight to home. 겁나 맛있음. 11시-12시에 가야 뭔가 더 고를 수 있을것같음. 완전추천. Great place. I visited again. So happy😋🍖💕
