This is a famous chain Japanese BBQ place which only offers all you can eat option in Hawaii. We have gotten the supreme AYCE for 45 per person at lunch and we could recommend this again. You will want to first clear out all the limited options. Kaubi was by far the best with the secret pot came in second. Make sure you ask for a hot cup of tea instead of iced water to help with digestion. The overall quality of the dishes is very satisfying. The menu includes everything you would like for a BBQ lunch buffet but to be honest, people like us without good capacity becomes full after several items. So if you want to try more options, ask for half serving. It is available. You will be cooking on your own. We have found asking for advice and using a stop watch very helpful. The cocktail and service were mediocre. Nothing worth mentioning.

This institution is pulling for the title of opening of the year. The interior is very authentic. But the quality of food comes first for me! So far, these are the best sushi and sashimi in Honolulu. Will I recommend this place to visit? Definitely yes!

We stopped in to try this place out for dinner, we got the late night 4 person combo dinner, although it says for 4 people 🤔 two average people would be able to finish off most of it quite easily. The meat 🥩 was very small and thing pieces for quick grilling 👍 but the veggies where mostly just onions. A better variety would be a lot better.

Be forewarned about ordering delivery from here. I just ordered over $70 worth of food from here, 6 entree/appetizers through Uber Eats of which they are partnered with. After an hour I received ONE of the 6 items. Of course I received a refund through app after submitting complaint. That’s not the point, if you are going to remain open for take out/delivery orders and there are families planning on getting dinner from you, this is absolutely rediculous, I could understand Missing an item or preparing something wrong? But missing pretty much the entire order that was paid for!? Absolutely rediculous! When choosing a location during lockdown be aware you will likely be wasting your time and money here and can’t count on getting what you ordered.

Wow, what a neat experience! Chelsea was a great hostess and waitress. The food was so yummy, we chose the a la carte items. We had some poultry, beef, bibimbap, and some appetizer items. DELISH!

If you want this kind if thing, its awesome. Food was delicious. Park on Pensecola or parking garage near by. Our server Dee was super on top of it. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars was because the table was too small for a party of 7. Plus it only had 1 burner. For a large party, request for the tables with 2 burners.

I really have an issue with this location and the lack of accommodation for customers. I went to this location for dinner and was greeted by a young woman who informed me that last seating is at 9:30. I called prior to coming to this location and was not informed of that information during the call. Last ordering is at 10pm as stated on their website. On a previous visit to this location a few months ago, we arrived and the staff were so nice and happy to have us there and this time that was not the case. I have a huge issue with the inconsistency on this visit. The hostess didn’t bother to see if we could be accommodated. As residents of the island this is very disappointing and I will ensure that any friends or family that come to visit DO NOT visit this establishment. This is very poor business practice.

Lots of food, some items can be prepared without soy sauce. The only downside was the bright lights above each table.

OMG...the first time here was amazing 👏😍🙌. The waitress was so patient and went over the different all you can eat selections. Compared to similar places, the portions are small which I thought was great. It allowed us not to get too full and able to sample other meats. Of course you can always ask for more of your favorite meats. We even had dessert...s'mores and ice cream!!

Its one of those places that is great to go with a group of people. Drink and be social. Eat some food while you are at it. If you are hungry, its not the best place to go unless you want to spend a lot of money. Definately go during happy hour as it gives you about a dollar off everything. I'd like to try the all you can eat option some day...

I tried the take out the first time and wasn’t wowed by the semi-bland rice mixture but while I was waiting for my food, I knew I wanted to return to catch the full experience. Took a friend out for a lunch and we LOVED it! The gin mojito was terrific and cuts of meat were scrumptious. I enjoyed being able to sit and comfortably chat in the chill atmosphere with our attentive server, Courtney, while grilling the thin slices of meat to whatever doneness we desired.

Love this place. Good quality selections of AYCE items, and we only paid for the Premium 37. Our server was attentive, and my drink was filled at good interval. Can only order 8 items at a time, but each round was offered timely with minimal downtime.

Over all a miserable dining experience. Restaurant had trash on the ground, the servers were staring and made it very clear they were talking about our table. Was in and out in the matter of 40 minutes because I felt uncomfortable. I’ve dined at the windward location multiple times and have had my food come out as ordered but this location told me it could not be done. I truly don’t write much reviews but this was a must. Update: just noticed they charged me for food we did not receive.

I've been to mamy Gyu-Kakus before. Normally everything is 5 stars. I think our server, who was good, was sat right before he was supposed to go home. Our cook fire only had heat/flame on half of it. It was a somewhat sub par experience. First time this has happened for my husband and I.

Great place for some delicious yakiniku. Everything was delicious, unfortunately they didn't have some meats available but it was still good. Service was very good. We will be going back again in the future. I couldn't find anything they could improve on. 5* rating !

It’s actually a Korean BBQ bistro with no signs of Japanese at all. Korean style marinated meat, bowls of coarse rice, not tender Sushi rice, no Japanese pictures, no Japanese soya sauce, sweetened house soya sauce instead. . . . The all atmosphere is typical Korean.

We ordered a set for three people. It was amazing! We like every appetizer because they were so good. The meat quality is great and there are different types that we can choose from. The service was also really great. I would go there again for sure.

I debated between 3 and 4 stars after talking with the people I went with. The food was great—We did all you can eat and it was worth it! Our big CON was that service was bad since they were understaffed. Our server had tons of tables and we hardly saw her so it was difficult to order more food. If they staff better, I’d come back

Sad that the kalihi gyukaku closed, but happy to have this one centrally located and easy to get to with validated parking. Gyukaku, just like you would find in with Japan with a ton of options from ala cart, set menu, and a ton of happy hour specials. Extensive drink menu also. One of our go to dinner places.

Had w wonderful experience at Gyu-Kaku in July 2023. This was my first time ever trying a Japanese BBQ restaurant and I enjoyed the visit. Quick recommendation: cook a little then eat a little then repeat! 🎉 Service was fast and servers friendly.

This is by far my girlfriend and I’s favorite location on island! The staff is always so friendly, attentive, and helpful no matter how busy or slow it is. The drinks are strong, the music is good (usually r&b, hip hop and pop - and tonight?? They are JAMMING), and the food is delicious. We usually come for happy hour and order the bibimbap rice dishes, 2-3 meats, a couple veggies and some drinks. All 10/10. I used to go to the locations in Houston and they’re all good. Quality and quantity match the dollar amount for sure.

I'm glad this place opened back up for dine-in service. We went there this past week with a group of friends. They had reasonable precautions. A temperature check was taken when we walked into the restaurant and we were seated in a private booth. I love the quality of the meats at this place. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of parking behind the restaurant as well.

I'm usually here only for lunch. They used to have an all you can eat deal but I believe they've taken that away. Now they have 2 lunch specials which you choose between two or three meat choices. Special comes with salad soup. Portions are reasonable and I feel that it's a good deal.

Wow. Simply an amazing restaurant choice. Great date idea!! The food was off the charts and interactive, my best friend is leaving tomorrow and we came here hoping to have a great last night and we accomplished that!honestly the perfect place with an amazing staff. The empty plates were gone before we noticed, the food was seasoned well and they gave tips on how to cook some of the meat. Nami was probably the best server I have ever had, and I like to eat out and try new places but I will be back here! Nami was helpful, insightful, gave great suggestions, knew the menu and area and very kind. Three Michelin stars to Nami and the chefs! Will be back again.

The service is terrible. They don't know what they do. Food is not great compare to the price. There are better options than this restaurant.

Even though they had to downsize their all you can eat menu, the options they had left were still amazing and super tasty. 10/10, reccomend coming to this location if you can. Drink options were good too, and just the overall atmosphere is perfect for a casual lunch date or a small family gathering (within socially distanced guidelines).

If u have a smaller party it's all good but the newer Kalihi location has more burners for larger groups like 6 and up

Great flavor and was an excellent deal for lunch. Very fun with the family as we can all just chat and cook up anything we wanted to order. We have already been a few more times before I decided to write the review. If you have family to take (and follow COVID guidelines) I recommend coming here.

Reservations are recommended. Very cool experience, something like teppanyaki, you grill your food to your liking. Every table/seating has their own grill. Great selection of top of line steak, good pork, chicken & shrimp. Many different options to chose from & prices vary by want you are ono for. Come with an appetite. Miso soup was really, really good!!! Service is excellent & quick and very helpful. Parking can be validated.

The food and atmosphere are great, as well as the staff being stupendous. Also it's fun to bbq your own food, while sitting down.

I had to talk my wife and daughter into trying Japanese BBQ with me as I’ve had it on my list and always wanted to try it myself. Thankfully, they agreed, and we had a great time at this restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation, so we were seated at pretty much some of the worst seats in the house, but it really didn’t matter. Once our waiter lit the grill after we placed our order, the food started coming out extremely quickly, all of which was great. If you’re in the Waikiki area and you’re looking for a great meal, get yourself a table here and you won’t be disappointed.

Haven't really been eating out (until now I guess), so I don't know how commonplace this is, but this was the first place I've been to, that screened us at the door - Did a quick temperature and symptom check before letting us in and all employees were wearing masks, and customers seating was distanced. Serious props to the management and the workers for taking these precautions. Aside from that, the food was great, the beer was good, the price was fair, the service was wonderful.
