I enjoyed the dinner and the overall experience but most likely will not return for more. The food is ok, and seasoned well but definitely not worth the price of it. Then comes the show and unfortunately our chef Jeff was just not into it that night. He was barely enthused and was very boring to watch compared to the other chefs. His act was over quickly while another chef nearby who started at the same time as him was still entertaining his guests. Bit disappointing but oh well. Before dinner a photographer will come by to take very unflattering photos of you then print them and charge you $20 if you want it.

I couldn’t wait to eat dinner for my birthday dinner with my daughter. I treated myself with seafood combo and boy I was not disappointed! The ambiance was awesome. Chef Scott was entertaining to watch. I enjoyed every moment of my dinner. I was really full before the desserts came out. I need another reason to come back soon again!

First time Aussie in Waikiki - highly expensive when you convert and have a drink and tipping.. Drink was yum, We sat at a table with 3 other groups which this was an interesting experience especially when you pay for a meal for the teen and she is the only one eating it and it gets shared to others and not the parents!!! Food was ok, a bit of food..by the time you have the salad, soup and pickles… we also had the garlic rice which was nice. Lobster dish is very small especially with the price and conversion - I don’t recommend any Aussie to share this plate as it is small. Service from Jason - wait staff was attentive. Chef was ok, with his show, definitely not like the other reviews here. Attitude from duty manager was extremely disappointing and one I wouldn’t expect from anyone in customer service.

We had a great experience here! The drink, food and service were above average. The Chef was amazing, he a few moves I hadn’t seen anywhere else. I had the blackened Ahi Tuna as an appetizer (delicious) and the chicken and steak option. It was a good serving size and even came with ice cream at the end. I would recommend it!

WOW!! Eat here!!! Everything was absolutely wonderful -- the host staff got us in early, the waitress was beyond friendly -- the chef very funny -- and even the general manager was beyond courteous when he came to check in on us! The food is delicious and reasonably priced, huge portions, and comes with dessert! We're going to be back!

I meant to write this review after our fabulous dining experience.   We were looking forward to the Hibachi, never thought there would be a show as well.  We had a reservation, an hour before closing, and although we were on time, it took a little bit to be seated, we were starving. Then once seated it took a while to be serve our first course, I imagine because we had to wait on other people to be seated at our table. I loved the ambiance, the theme really made you feel as if you were in an authentic Japanese restaurant. Our chef, Josheph was engaging, entertaining, and friendly.   He spent a great deal of time joking and talking with us, and amazing our table.  My sons were soo invested in his skills and we were all impressed.  The food was great.  I had the steak and teriyaki chicken.  Most of us had the garlic fried rice, which was phenomenal!  I like that there's an all inclusive option, meaning you chose your entree, and it come with soup or salad, app, plus dessert. Joseph said he's been a chef here for 10 years, they're fortunate to have him, and you'll be lucky if you get to.  We were told his nickname is the Mamba.  After his favorite BB player.  That alone, is a true testimony of how great this man is.  We'll definitely be back!  What a memorable experience.  Thank you!!

Terrific atmosphere and amazing chef. Witty, polite, and talented, we were thoroughly entertained for the 1.5 hours we were there for. Portions were bigger than expected. So much so that we didn't bother with the ice cream! Reservations are recommended, especially for the weekends. Our group booked online using Open Table. Fast and easy 👍

First time.and the experience was great. The ambiance is very nice, staff very friendly and the food was good. A little pricey but it's upscale so it's expected

Incredible experience! The food was astonishing for the price. It is a bit higher end hibachi (expect $50 with tip and tax for most entrees), but it is extremely worth the price. The portions are great with plenty of courses (if you get an entree). The staff was attentive, entertaining, and helpful. You will definitely leave full and happy!

My parents and I were in Waikiki for a couple nights and a friend invited us here. We could not be happier, the chiefs are entertaining and talented and all the food is delightful, fresh and yummy! If you like Tepan grills this is a good spot to visit especially if you are staying at the Sheraton because it's just across the street. I hear there are two other locations.

So much fun! We loved our chef Christian and it was such a blast eating here. The lobster tail was my favorite by far.

Great restaurant, chefs are very entertaining, food is very good (even ask for allergies). Can get a bit noisy from other parties around or when they start the show cooking. But all in all worth the money. Definitely recommend it and would come back!

What an experience! This was my first teppanyaki experience and it was so entertaining and enjoyable! The servers rly put in their best to engage everyone at the table and to put up a good show. The food was really good too and the portions are decent. If you tell them you’re celebrating something the staff gather around and sing u a song while they serve dessert haha

The best thing? Food portion. You’ll be bursting at the seams. However, there’s nothing that screams “AMAZING.” Taste is great, but not something you haven’t tried elsewhere. Steak was a little tough. But of course, you come here more for the presentation and ambience, and that was fun.

Our chef, Wei, was extremely professional, fun, and welcoming. The food was amazing and the staff as well. The manager was very professional and ensured we were all happy and satisfied. Would recommend to everyone. 10/10 ! Oh and we got free cake for our birthday!

Another 1st time for us and was worth the money. Basically a 5 course dinner. Friendly atmosphere. Shown here, I ordered the scallops. They make your food in front of you. Made friends while waiting.

Upgraded Daimyo to wagyu beef for $30 but tastes nothing like wagyu. Rib eye actually tastes better in my opinion. We upgraded to fried rice but it was quite soggy. The portion was HUGE overall! I would suggest the restaurant to keep it lower quantity and higher quality.

We absolutely loved every moment and every employee also. Chef Johnny went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the delicious food!! The server was very professional and proficient! The manager came around to our table just to check on us and make sure we enjoyed our dinner. All around the entire experience was perfect!!!!! I highly recommend the be a must do if you are here on vacation for sure.

We had the best experience ever! I have been to a bunch of hibachis but this one by far is the best one. From our waiter Mickey to our Chef It was great. Mickey took great care of us and informed us on Japanese tradition. Chef Kent was amazing and provided the most amazing food and the most amazing show. He even added his magic skills in the show and was extraordinary! I highly recommend this place for a great time, I’m coming back to Honolulu just for this place!

The best teppanyaki/hibachi I’ve had (I have only been in the U.S.)—the fried rice was chewy and the lobster uninteresting, but everything else was terrific. The squid was outstanding. They call it “calamari” but it’s the really big, thick squid, served grilled in chunks that were tender and flavorful. The staff was nice, attentive, and helpful, and the whole experience pretty fun and entertaining

Chef Bronson made my first experience THE best. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The fried rice absolutely is a MUST. Chef Bronson rocked the table! We were definitely the loudest group in the room because of the liveliness from Chef Bronson. Super cool tricks, huge fires, funny jokes, and most of all the FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!! Take my word for it please! Always request for Chef Bronson for a good time and good food. Thank you Chef Bronson for making my first time at Tanaka of Tokyo a memorable one! We will definitely be back soon!
