👍 Small market but lovely to visit. Good selection of food to eat, some great local food to try out. Met a Dutch kids book author and we bought a copy which he signed. Very special place to explore and take in cute Dutch houses in the streets around the market People often mention market,

One of the most beautiful squares in the Netherlands is located in the heart of the city of Haarlem. Authentic cafes and restaurants and it feels like going back in time when you walk over this amazing square market…

One very graphic square and market in a beautiful city as Haarlem. I loved to be there as everything seemed so romantic and graphic.

Old city of Harlem was a treat to my eyes..what charmed me was the busy market area with eating joints in the road side and flower market...stroopwaffels is a must try when in Netherlands

Beautiful place in general- and many nice things, cheese, sweets, fresh food and flowers offered on the Market on Saturdays.

Every time I walked around "la plaza" the view has changed; can be the light, the decorations, the market, the terras, the rain... perfect place to drink something and enjoy the old buildings

Grote Markt is a market square and the centre of sightseeing in Haarlem. For centuries, this has been a place of outdoor markets. Today, this is the location of bars, restaurants and quite a few historic properties and other points of interest for visitors to enjoy. Here you will find famous places like St. Bavo (Grote Church), Stadhuis (City Hall), Vlesshal and Hoofwacht. There is an impressive monument to L.J. Custer (1856) in the middle of the square as well as a handful of more recently added contemporary sculptures. If you want information regarding sightseeing opportunities around the area, just pop into the tourist information centre on the ground floor of Stadhuis on the west end of the square. There you can pick up self-walk maps, brochures and find more general information from staff working there.

One of the most beautiful markets I have been to! There are limited stores but it’s in a convenient area so you can shop around and have a coffee nearby easily.

lovely market, better than the Albert Cuyp market in Amsterdam. the latter carries too much sovenirs and clothing, while this one focuses on foodstuffs.

Rain rain rain and still this market has it all. Snakey routes through the city with food and warm wine everywhere. A must!

A nice market in the heart of Haarlem. Food, clothing and other on offer. The Haarlem Grote Kerk as well as other historical buildings are in the area.

👍👍 It was created in 1355 and is the only remaining city gate from the defenses of Haarlem. Until the 17th century it was the city gate used for traffic by land eastwards towards Spaarnwoude over the Laeghe weg (now Oude weg). In 1631 the Haarlemmertrekvaart was dug, which shortened the waterway from H...

👍👍 What a fun and dynamic place. Beautiful building in combination with the dynamics of small businesses. And a cinema and restaurant. Really fun and a nice vibe.
