We had the best time. The first Saturday of each month, there is a free workshop. This past Saturday was bracelets. First Saturday in March is suncatchers. This is a fun, entertaining place.

Lovely smal museum and garden. Artists on site so you can have conversations about their work. Enjoyed the featured artists . Their work was inspirational and throught provoking. Will definitely visit again. The garden was educational learned about plants for dyes and fiber production

I have been several times. Today there were no artists who were open and there were no exhibits to see. This is why I'm giving 4 stars. I am just saying to go another time. Saturdays are often great days to see artists with open doors (you can watch them make art and learn about their craft). Normally there are cool exhibits, I just went at a bad time. Cool place, maybe just call ahead to see what's available (there was almost nothing to see today, 9/22). Always free to go and cool stuff on display. It's like a zoo with artists instead of animals

I enjoyed my visit, interesting and meaningful works highlighting social and environmental issues. For those driving in, the parking lot is off Travis Street and is easy to miss if unfamiliar with the neighborhood.

We love this little museum, which currently has an impressive exhibit on the material culture/memory of natural disaster loss. Before this was an exhibit the kiddos loved on Mexican food. We sent my stepson here for summer camp and he loved it (his artwork featured in one of the photos). They have lots of free art days that we attend and make art at.

The Center for Contemporary Craft is always one of my favorite places to go. It's always fun to look in the gift shop and see what pieces the artists have been working on. It's totally free to enter, which makes it a great spot for any art lover or someone on a budget looking for a hidden gem in the city. Right now, they're in between exhibits, but they always have pop-up shows that can include pottery or other forms of craft. But don't be dissatisfied if there's no exhibit- you can always go to the back of the building and watch the resident artists work, or chit chat with them! The student Bai Lai made the works in my pictures- all out of paper! Unfortunately, they were not in when I went but I was very moved. Don't forget to stop by the bathrooms for pamphlets on what's going on in the art scene, theatre scene and exhibits around the city!

The current exhibits are amazing and professionally displayed (our commendations to the volunteers and staff). The collages(?) of found items and the costume creations from natural fibers, peels, petals, and spikes are amazing. Those were by one artist and displayed in the small room. Then the quilts created by Houston individuals and groups contain numerous colorful stories. The geometric patterns and the abstract patterns are imaginative and fine, fine, fine. Highly recommended.

Unique little place for art. They have a gallery that rotates with different art. Craft classes and residency studios with local artists that you can meet. They also have a cute little garden next to the parking lot. Did I mention it’s free?! Great place to introduce others to art.

Very nice space. I loved that you could see the artists work. The quilt exhibit was also very nice. Very friendly staff. If you go, you should park in the back of the building (free parking). Highly recommended!

We enjoy coming out and spending time here once a month. Even just visiting the artists. I'm hoping to catch an event one day. Donations. We love the outdoor garden!!

The Center is a quite small, but provides a very important service to the arts and the artists it supports. There were 2 galleries open when I went. There were 2 artists in residence in their workspaces. I wish it had not been so hot, I would have spent more time looking through the garden outside that provides materials for some of the artists' works.

Absolutely love this center! The art is fun to look at and there's an adorable shop with great jewelry. The best part are the activities they offer. I just went to a clay making class that was so much fun.

It's cool. You get to know the artists, their work and technics. There are some activities in their program for kids as well.

Simply stunning. A must visit place. They also offer monthly kid friendly art crafts from 11-3pm on Saturday. Art kits in front are also pretty fabulous. They come with video instructions, easy enough for kids to follow through.

I went to an event here recently so I can't say too much about how it is day to day, but it served as a great venue, very well organized, inviting space, I did see their gift shop which included some beautiful sculptures and handicrafts, I was especially fond of the outdoor space.

Had a celebration of my late Mother Lynn Gammon life in the garden. We had about 50 visitors, center was awesome but some jerk broke into 3 vehicles in the side parking lot even with all of us in the garden right next door.

Small but fun museum. They have strange hours. The outside garden was closed despite the inside being open. There are only 3 galleries. You can go in and talk to resident artists.

Always a lovely experience to visit HCCC, but on this particular trip, Hubby and I had enrolled in a Woodturning Workshop. The class was taught in the parking lot on a beautiful fall day, and essentially, several members of the Houston’s Woodturning Guild ushered us through the process of turning a simple block of wood into a Cross Pen. When all was done, it felt as though we had each created our own one-of-kind piece of functional art.

Very friendly staff. Artists-in-residence on site. Beautiful and stimulating exhibits.

So amazing to see the hard work of cosplayers. The way they make craft foam look like metal and leather. The way they work on actual leather!. Then to see artist actually at work in the back, learning about them and their craft. Love how HCCC reaches out and takes an interest with the community. Thank you.

Objects Redux. Crafts from 1969 show versus contemporary crafts. Also fiber art from Houston hurricanes. A great show worth seeing, and meet current resident artists. And it's all free admission.
