If you want food that looks aesthetically beautiful and tastes as good as it looks, Giacomo Cibo e Vino is the one! I think I literally ate the prettiest fettuccini in Houston. They have so many AMAZING small plates! The meatballs are the best! And the service is excellent!

We came here for dinner the other night having not been to the restaurant for several years. We tend to forget about Giacomos as an option because the only way to make a reservation is to call the restaurant. Upon checking in, we were told that we couldn't be seated until the rest of our party arrives which is always frustrating when you would like to go ahead and order drinks while waiting. The waiting area is also overrun with cardboard boxes filled with wine, like hoarder lever quantities. I understand that they don't have a ton of space and probably don't want to pay for offsite storage but it's not a great vibe. Once we were seated we were able to order a bottle of wine. Our server was very nice and well intentioned but anytime we asked a question when she came back with the answer she would respond back to the wrong person. She just seemed a little spacey. We ordered several apps for the table and while they were tasty for the most part they weren't beautiful to look at (which is fine). For my main I ordered the pollo giotto which turned out kind of rubbery and tough. I had a bite of the tagliatelle bolognese and the carbonara which I found to be both bland and a little too far past al dente. In my opinion, the way to go is the hanger steak. That used to be my go to order and when I had a bite of my husband's I found it to still be on point. Overall I found the restaurant to be extremely loud with food that I wouldn't want to come back for. That being said, the restaurant was at capacity on a Friday night so there are many people that obviously wouldn't agree. Also of note, they are not very accommodating for food allergies or intolerances and when you ask they let you know that they generally do not allow substitutions.

My favorite restaurant in Houston. The wine list is incredible and priced so fairly. The bolognese is my favorite, but there are so many great dishes. The tortellini is delicious. An amazing mix of cold and hot starters. The service is always outstanding. Make sure you make a reservation. Wonderful dessert menu that's sure to satisfy any taste. This is delicious Italian food done right and I'll visit every time I'm in the area!

I made it a point to eat dinner here before moving out of Houston next week. Best. Decision. Ever. We were able to be seated immediately at the bar since we didn’t have reservations. Our sever was very attentive and thorough. The garlic bread on grilled ciabatta bread blew my mind. Trike delicious and a must-have. I love that there is an option to do half orders on some of the pasta! I had to take advantage and ended up getting to try three different pastas! Never had an experience quite like it. They have an extensive wine menu as well! The parking lot is rather small and located in the back. Definitely recommend making reservations! We hope to visit here the next time we find ourselves in Houston!

The food is spectacular, spot on! The service AKA Amy, which was exceptionally outstanding! She is very helpful, always smiling, and made my first visit an exceptionally pleasant one. We will be back! Oh, I forgot to mention the lump crabmeat shrimp risotto left me completely speechless! Wow!

Came to this restaurant for date night and it was a wonderful experience. We didn't have a reservation and luckily they were able to seat us. The waiter was extremely friendly and prompt with us. He went over the specials for the day and the wines. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and an appetizer. The shrimp appetizer was very good with a sauce that was perfectly crafted for it. For our main courses we got the fettuccine special, which came with shrimp and it was heavenly. A very refreshing summer dish that was well balanced and had plenty of shrimp in it. Also got the tortellini in cream sauce and these did not disappoint. The cream sauce was very good and the tortellini were filled with a mushroom mixture that was delicious. We left the restaurant stuffed and very satisfied. We will be back to this for sure.

What a hidden gem! Our first time! Hawk’s garlic bread… oh yea! Refreshing salad. The bolognese was a perfect savory with a very tiny echo of sweet from the awesome meat sauce. The portions are Very generous. Service was top notch!

Dinner crowd on a cold front evening translates to reservations are highly recommended. If you don't mind the chilly outdoor patio, a few upright heating options were available in the patio. The wind gust negated that warmth generated yesterday evening.

Food and wine are great here! The meatballs for appetizer were delicious and I liked my tortellini dish. Only complaint was that the Giovanni didn’t have much chicken in it and tasted a little bit like an Asian dish. Still tasty, just not what we were expecting. Everything else was fantastic and we’ll visit again!

Great restaurant for the price. High quality Italian food with small homey feeling inside. Would recommend and will come back. We split 2 apps, 1 main dish, dessert, and 2 wines for $80

Just perfect. High level of food without the pretentiousness. Somehow perfect for dates, fancy dinners and casual. Service is great as is the vino. With all the choices we have in Houston I rarely visit the same restaurant twice, but we come to Giacomo's every few weeks.

So happy to find authentic Italian food in Houston! The carbonara never disappoints and the wine selection was amazing. We also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner who was so kind and passionate about the food and service. Definitely worth trying but I recommend making a reservation for dine in service, they are busy for good reason!

Food was very good. Really recommend the gnocchi alla romana and ali di pollo (chicken wings). Service could have been a bit better. Greeting your customer with an smile would help.

Boy-o-boy!! The food is terrific. The servers are delightful. Plus, it is quite inexpensive. There is an hour wait during peak periods. The Houston Chronicle restaurant critic rates it the tenth best restaurant in Houston. We go in the afternoon.

Parked, went inside and was greeted. We chose to sit outside and we took our seat. Menus were handed to us. Waited 10 minutes for service. We saw a waitress with water and she looked at our table, seeing that we didn't have anything to drink. She acted like we weren't there. No one showed up or acted like we were there. However, a couple of women were sat by us. Within seconds, they were served and asked what they wanted to drink. The waiter acted like he didn't see us without water/drinks with only menus at the table. I don't and will not support discriminatory businesses. Service was rude so we decided to leave. Unacceptable.

Amazing fresh pasta, intentionally ordered too much food so I'd have leftovers to take home to wifey. Ate it all...highly recommend the meatball appetizer combined with tag side pasta with tomato cream sauce

Nicely lit front and back patios, bustling inside seating, as well. Decent amount of parking but might have to park on the street. Bathrooms are clean. Food was overall fantastic - really enjoyed hawk's bread, halloumi (which we didn't realize was used in Italian cuisine until now), and tagliatelle. The veggie dish of Brussels sprouts was also wonderfully flavored and tender. The porchetta was a bit too salty for our tastes and wasn't a great complement to the other dishes we had.

Eaten here a few times and it’s now our go to for Italian food! My wife and I have had an awesome time making Italian food at home, which has made us a little more picky when it comes to Italian. This place is totally worth it! We’ve tried different dishes every time we’ve come and have yet to be disappointed. Can’t wait for our next trip.

Excellent. Food. Service. Highly recommended. What to get? Bruschetta Classica (excellent), Tagliata de Lombatello (good), Linguini Giacomo (excellent), Pollo Giotto (excellent), Orechiette Giorgione (excellent) and Chianti Classica is a good fruity red vine with a nice bouquet.

The food was amazing. The meatballs are to die for. However, the real highlight was the service. Daniel was our waiter and he made the experience worthwhile.

Don't mess around, just go here. Food is fantastic, the homemade pastas are so tasty, cooked to perfection. The wine selection is very good, goes well with the food. Lots of hard to fine bottles. The owner is super nice, and the folks behind the bar know how to pair

Cute and homey kind of vibe for this place. The food and service was pretty solid throughout. The Gamberi Al Diavolo was delicious and very flavorful. Not too spicy, but just enough to keep wanting more of (and to dunk the baguette in). The Gnocchi Alla Romano was probably the most underwhelming of the dishes as it did eat a little on the dry side. The Tortellini with Parmesan cream sauce was pretty good, but the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was the star of the pasta dishes we ate. Generous portions of the sauce/meat and perfectly cooked pasta. Being able to order half portions made the entire meal even better. Would definitely come back here.

Amy, our waitress was so wonderful, kind and had such a sweet energy :) She was really caring and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and happy with our meals. She even brought us a scoop of their new gelato flavor to try! I believe it was blackberry which was really good! She took the time to recommended us the best food and her personal favorites on the menu. And they all tasted amazing! I forgot some of the exact names but we got the steak and potatoes, garlic bread, and tagliatelle giovanni pasta!! It’s was sooo good! Me and mom said it was one of the best parmesan pasta dishes we’ve had at a restaurant Seasoned and grilled well. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Amy so much for a wonderful experience! We enjoyed our time with you. You’re the sweetest! Wish you happiness:) - Tera and Carmalita

Best Italian food in the Houston area. Fiance loves this place. Fresh pasta made in house.

Food was very good. We ordered a variety of small dishes to share. All were well made. Portion size and pricing was reasonable. But the building itself and furniture leave a lot to be desired. Not very warm or inviting to me. Though, on the other hand, there was free and adequate parking.

Giacomo's was very good. The linguine Giacomo was tasty. The tagliatelle alla bolognese was very good. Fresh pasta. Be aware they charge a $3.50 to go fee. Even during time of to-go only. I wasn't told. But I'll still return because it was extremely good and the staff was very polite.

Outstanding Italian food and wine selection. Our server Mike was excellent and it was a perfect evening. Can't wait to return.

An excellent menu but the interior is seriously ho-hum with boxes stacked up in a mishmash; I wouldn't call it a romantic setting, put it that way. The food though is outstanding. Exceptional. Decor and ambiance aside, I'd still return here than go to a Carrabba's for truly enjoyable Italian dining. My sincere compliments to the chef. The menu is amazing.

Best gluten free pasta i have had since i haven't been eating gluten. Honestly delicious. Fresh, great service, I’m so upset i couldn’t order the same meal again before i left town. Amazing !

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and the food has always been excellent. Interesting combinations and flavors and always fresh and delicious pasta. Downside is that it is crowded on weekends and a bit pricey, but well worth it. Enjoy!!

Food was good. However, I couldn’t read or pronounce anything on the menu. This place is designed for you to get several different dishes which come in small portions. The wine was awesome.

This is a great Little place with very good food. Try the hanger steak and the ratatouille with an egg on top...omg delicious. They have a great wine selection - by the bottle or glass. They get very busy and the noise level can be a bit much at times. But go...early...enjoy a great meal.

So fun and delicious. The staff was on it and the seating is comfortable-but sit outside for best experience. Great choice of food (we got the stuffed chicken and the fagioli) and wine selection is pretty darn good and priced reasonably. Beer selection is small, if that's your thing. Will go again.

Ordered to go carbonara, bolognese, and the beet salad. Portions were small, carbonara was just ok, bolognese tasted exactly like chef boyardee, salad was pretty good. Plus a $4 to go fee, why? Maybe the chef changed recently because these other stellar reviews make no sense to me

  • 5/5 Jonathan M. 5 years ago on Google
They have a fantastically long list of natural wines and some unique pasta dishes here. The cheese board comes with a combination of Texas and imported varieties. The sample sizes are monstrous...we had to take our leftovers home.

A really nice place with some awesome food! The menu can be a little difficult to get through if you're new, but the service is nothing short of excellent and will provide some great guidance. The atmosphere does leave a little to be desired, but the food, staff, and overall experience is wonderful. Great for groups!

Small cozy place with huge wine selection. Ordered Garlic bread, stuffed egg plant, Halumi cheese & bread and Spicy meatballs for appetizer. Meat balls and stuffed eggplant was good. Garlic bread was literally burnt so we had to ask the waiter to replace. He gave an attitude saying this is real garlic bread. Even if it is real no one wants to eat a cardboard like burnt bread. Finally he brought a new batch. It was ok. Main course was wide pasta with white sauce, halfmoon ravioli and other entrees. Halfmoon ravioli was ok but the other entrees lacked flavor. Ordered Tiramisu and Gelato with Expressso shot for dessert. Loved the coffee and gelato. Overall not satisfied with service and food was just ok.

Mushroom pasta and roasted beets with hazelnuts are delicious. Can’t wait to try more things. Also the prices are really affordable and some dishes are offered in half portions, which is great if you want to try more things.
