The hotel is not particularly gorgeous, as exquisite and elegant as promotional pictures. The interior of the hotel is fully equipped, but the room price is not directly proportional to the comfort of occupancy. The furnishings inside the hotel were old. When I was passing by at the door of a shop in the aisle with my son, a huge horizontal board above the shop window suddenly fell from above our heads. I simply didn't hit us, and the staff who came to him were scared when they saw it and asked us many times if we were fine. We didn't hurt, we were just scared.

Stayed here for five days. At arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room. The room seemed clean, except for a bit of dust here and there, nothing too noticeable. You can slightly hear conversations in other rooms, but people were mindful and never had trouble sleeping. Employees and friendly and approachable. I would definitely come back.

I'm not normally the kind of guy to leave a one-star review online for things. I understand that service workers are often under a lot of pressure and that they generally do the best they can. Unfortunately, I have to give a one-star rating here because my suitcase was stolen from my vehicle in the Chateau parking lot, and the hotel staff was not responsive to help me figure out what happened. I placed multiple calls inquiring about it in the following days and was basically told "we'll be in touch", but never heard anything back. If you park a vehicle here, make sure you lock your bags up! Based on my experience, you won't receive any help if your things get stolen.

This hotel shouldn't have the Fairmont name in it. From the outside the building is amazing but the rest is rundown. I think I saw better Holiday Inn than this hotel no wonder is cheap the price for a Fairmont. But the worst is really the restaurant, the service was AWFUL for the price you paid. The chair are in fabric and so dirty is like they are never been washed since 1838. I will say, go inside, take some pictures but avoid to stay or eat there.

Decent hotel. When I first checked in, the room I was given was not yet cleaned. I walked in and there were used towels in a pile on the bathroom floor, the bedding was all over the floor and there were empty wine bottles everywhere. I went back to the check in desk and they were very nice about it and found me a new room after searching for a bit. This room was clean, but it was much smaller than the original room I was given and I was charged for the sale price. Breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel was very tasty and the server was extremely polite and attentive. My only critique is that there needs to be either a cheaper buffet option/ pay what you take from the buffet, or more lighter options on the menu. I decided to go through the buffet one day as the menu items sounded too big for my appetite. I got 1 slice of toast with jam and a few pieces of melon and I was charged $45. It was somewhat difficult finding a drinking water tap in the hotel.

Wonderful hotel! Overall I had a great stay here. The downgrade was for attention to detail. Someone else's leftovers was left in my fridge. It wasn't a big deal, and I just threw it away. Service was excellent! The concierge was fast and helpful with the few things I asked of them. The hotel itself is beautiful. The layout is confusing, but that's somewhat to be expected in an older building.

Chateau Laurier is one of Ottawa's icons. I didn't stay at this hotel, but I attended two weddings in this unique venue. Our friend's son and daughter had their wedding ceremonies at the terrace and wedding banquet at the Laurier Room (18-foot ceiling with gorgeous chandeliers). I have to say that the hotel's terrace is a perfect spot in Ottawa for wedding pictures, boasting a panoramic view of the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill! In addition, wedding dinner food normally doesn't wow me, but I was very pleased with the food there.

Location can’t be beat! This iconic hotel is at the Centre of all the main attractions. The hotel is beautiful, offering great charm and luxury. The service was exceptional, especially when it came to the cleanliness. Bathrooms are a bit small but the shower is great. My only disappointment came from the pool area. The water is cold and the stairs going into the pool are challenging. This area of the hotel needs to be updated. Otherwise, beautiful spot to stay!

Stayed here overnight and had a nice time. Staff were all very kind and knowledgeable, with a special shout-out to Garrick during tea service. The room was small but very comfortable. We did have an issue with the AC not getting the room to the set temperature, and that was likely a result of it being early summer on the sixth floor with a sun-facing window and the AC just not being able to keep up - next time, we'll ask for a room not so high up. We booked the room asking for a view of Parliament, but the small off-to-the-side window meant the view wasn't really there/enjoyable/worth the extra dollars. Despite the room quirks, the overall (hi)storied/old character was charming. Food-wise, the tea service was great, as was breakfast. We had several nice options for nearby restaurants for dinner, and there are convenient shopping spots near, too.

Beautiful historic building. Perfect location. Great PR.Friendly servers. Lovely personal note from the concierge for our celebration. Comfortable rooms. Furniture and carpet could use maintenance/ deep cleaning. I am sure management is trying their best given the huge capacity of this hotel. Valet parking not recommended. Over priced with young, inexperienced valets. Breakfast buffet over priced for the spread available. In the end it's a matter of personal experience and I truly would like to see this hotel stay true to its historic prestige.

Extremely courteous staff. You can tell Ottawians are happy to have visitors again. The rooms are spacious and clean, beds are like clouds. Newly refurbished and a nice blend of traditional with modern accents for decor. I hope to return! Pool was closed for updates to structure and I definitely want to return for a swim in its art deco fabulousness!

The fridge wasn't stocked, there wasn't a white wine and there was only one white robe wrinkled with a rip in the armpit. There was no fridge for my own food or drinks and I couldn't connect to the wifi with my room number. No hot tub or sauna or bath. However Zoe's was amazing and the bed was comfortable. Service was excellent. There's a long walk to the outside tho if u need to step out.

Had an amazing experience planning our wedding. Kathryn and the team are phenomenal. We were so proud by the place and the service provided that night. The complimentary suites are also lovely. Everything we asked for, they tried their best to make happen. Would recommend 10000%.

Very nice location but old hotel that needs some updates. Our coffee machine did not work as they had it plugged into a power bar that kept blowing fuse’s. The front desk was friendly and quick to respond however the repair man admitted that whoever installed it did a lazy job. Also the blinds in the room are not “black out”. For the price I would have expected better blinds and a coffee maker that actually works. After reading the bad reviews on the valet service we parked around the corner under ground at the National Art Center for $12 a night. I would highly recommend that.

Room was gorgeous, complimentary water bottles were appreciated, interesting history and architecture. My wife claims a spirit was in our room throughout the night but they seemed to not be malicious so we did not mind. if your looking for a haunted castle to stay in this is a good option.

Beautiful hotel. Excellent staff as well. Went during the hottest day ever recorded and unfortunately had to get a fan for our room because the old air conditioners couldn't keep up (understandably). Giant banquet halls, couple of shops and restaurants on site. Incredibly awesome place is best way to put it.

Unpleasant and unfriendly staff. Worst Fairmont experience amongst the 25+ properties I visited worldwide. Hotel was empty during pandemic and thought I would go and encourage them, front desk staff was the most unwelcoming and zero smiles. Requested to be upgraded with my Gold status and was denied instantly, as if the hotel was full. My room had zero amenities and most of the hotel services were closed due to COVID, despite paying the same price if not more as before the pandemic. Ordered an Espresso Martini at the bar and for some reason the barman made it with tequila instead of Vodka and it was the most disgusting cocktail I have ever tasted. Food was all right but not worth the price. Only good side was the proximity to more decent restaurants and shopping. Do yourself a favor and drive an extra hour for the Fairmont Montebello where you will not be disappointed. Sorry Fairmont, but you have work to do on this one!

It has a great location and a unique heritage character in itself. Our dogs loved that place. We too except for few things. This place is not able to meet expectations anymore though. Our bags were not delivered for an hour and my friend had to go down to pick them for herself. Staff in general was nice though. Our bathroom door was having a bad day… it needed real force or strong muscles to open that jammed door.

Great heritage hotel and centrally located. All the staff were great. Our cleaners on floor 4 were exceptional. We stayed in 444 over looking the main Blvd. Downside is a ridiculous rule of only 10 people in the pool are...a massive pool btw..and you need to reserve a time. Other wise great hotel

We stayed at the hotel for two nights at the end of September. The two stars I gave to this hotel are for pleasant and helpful staff and the second star for the location. Otherwise the hotel was disappointing. We paid $600 per night with taxes for each night. The room was below basic. Older furnishings, promised park view turned out to be a roof view. The coffee machine was out of order. The dust behind the furniture was horrible. Trying to plug the coffee machine. There were no bathrobes in the room only empty hangers. There were no extra toiletries, when asked I was told it’s only available in gold rooms. The breakfast buffet was again $$$$. The mini fridge in the room was completely full of pay for each item drinks. Overall would never go back there.

My recent stay at this hotel left me with mixed feelings. Let's start with the positives – the location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic. Nestled in a picturesque area, the exterior of the hotel is nothing short of breathtaking. The surroundings were serene, and the ambiance was truly delightful. However, my experience took a nosedive from there. First and foremost, the parking situation was a major disappointment. The exorbitant parking fees left a sour taste, especially considering the already high room rates. It felt like an unnecessary additional expense, which significantly impacted my overall impression of the stay. Moving on to the rooms, I can't help but express my disappointment. For a place with such a stunning facade, the interior was surprisingly lackluster. The room felt ordinary, lacking the charm and character I expected from a hotel of this caliber.

Had a great stay there. Excellent quality, it was worth it. Loved swimming in the pool and dining options. The room key stuck when we tried to get into our room. It’s an old door and historic. The cleaning staff on duty was more than happy to help us.

We had a Beautiful 2 night stay at the Fairmont Ottawa !!! Close to everything !! Walking distance to market The hotel is breathtaking! Service concierge's were on the ball and very good fast and always there for us !!! The valet parking was quick and convenient 😘 Even though we had a huge truck it was handled with care and the valet men where more then amazing!!! The front staff where very accommodating with any questions thrown at them The training staff should always have another with them ! But he handled it well when asked a question he quickly got the answer!! Also the pool could use some TLC on the paint or plaster ! All peeling off This should be done at night so pool does not need to be closed . Can’t wait to return !!! And thanks to all the most amazing cleaners that helped us out with more coffee for the next day !! One thing I suggest is regular coffee makers See you all soon !!! Kind Regards

This hotel is literally a DREAM! You are feeling like a queen when you walk inside this beautiful castle. The rooms are decent, but they are clean and smells good. The TV was kind of small, was expecting a huge TV it’s a castle duh lol. The first floor is just amazing!

Beautiful room and very friendly and responsive staff. All we heard for days was "We'll take care of it for you". Valets/bell hops work hard, restaurant staff very friendly, food was amazing and housekeeping was friendly and available. The whole stay was superb (4 nights) and worth every penny.

This was my first time with Fairmont. The bathtub bottom is uneven. Didn't expect this could happen to a Fairmont hotel. The view was pretty good. AC was loud and old. When I asked the front desk for toothbrush and paste, the lady who helped me was amazing. She had to handle the front desk just by herself. However, the other one who I asked first left me there and told me that she would be back soon but did not come back until the nice lady just handed me what I needed. I have worked in service industry before, so this kind of behavior was extremely disgusting. She left just one colleague in front with a lineup. The manager should warn some of your employees not take advantage of their coworkers.

Great location in the heart of Ottawa. Hotel seems understaffed right now. It took 20-30 minutes to check in and some mistakes were made, assigning us to the wrong room requiring us running back and forth and waiting in lines to get proper keys. I was expecting a room with either a river view or parliament view but we are looking down at the American embassy. Shower pressure is good and beds are amazingly comfortable. Such a good sleep, but I need to Cover the room fully with blinds to keep the light out. Room still has not been cleaned and its 4;00pm. I’m here for a week so Hopefully things improve . The swimming pool was awesome and an added pleasure that it was salt water too.

This is such an amazing Hotel, old and very beautiful but the real quality is the employees! From our first experience with the valet team to the front desk associates, housekeepers and every associate in between we were greeted with warmth and friendliness. A special thank you to Eric at the Gold lounge, he was amazing with our dog Banjo and went way above and beyond to make our stay the best! Hoping to make this an annual trip. Happy holidays! Was here a number of years ago and was better 4-5 star hotels in London, certainly more enjoyable than Dublin. Loved the location near Parliament, the Supreme Court, the cultural attractions, like the Museum of Civilization, the proper tea in the hotel, the shopping on Rideau St., the markets, restaurants, to catch a Senators game and so much more. Americans should realize there's a whole new world, hours away, right next door in the Canadian capitol.

Stayed here for one night over a long weekend. Pretty busy with tourists but its definitely a nice hotel. I didn't check out any of the hotel amenities but my room looked right out onto the canal and the Houses of Parliament, which was neat.

We were told prior to our Arrival that our room would be ready as we were attending a function and needed to get ready, We were told after waiting 25 minutes that we can change in the “Fitness” Centre as our room was Not ready, After declining as it takes away from the “Experience” of the hotel and waiting 10 more minutes we then were given a random room with no beds only a bathroom to get ready in. The room we were then assigned when it was ready at around 4 pm after the function, was Dusty and had a Musky smell. Overall experience was not good at all and when asked to speak to a manager nobody can answer our questions/ fulfill their initial promises. Our Experience will definitely be one to remember although it is unfortunately due to the bad service and lack of care. We then had to take our own bags to our car and pack it after waiting 20 minutes for Valet to find it.

An iconic historical hotel in Ottawa. Great location right next to parliament and walkable to majority of the sightseeing spots. Rooms are a bit dated, but it’s clean and tidy. Beds are comfortable. Nice staff, good breakfast. We did not book a room with parliament view, but the view is not bad.

  • 5/5 Brenton 9 months ago on Google
This is a very opulent hotel just rife with Canadian history (you're neighbours with Parliament). Great central location at the heart of Ottawa, mall is close, as are many bars, restaurants, and shops. There is no NON valet parking, though the mall is close by. There's a pull through at the front which allows you to drop off bags. Also allow some time for the valets to retrieve your vehicle at checkout if the hotel is busy. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

I recently attended a one-day event at the Fairmont Chateau, and I must say that the venue itself was very impressive. The luxurious atmosphere of the hotel left a strong first impression. However, my experience with the valet service left something to be desired. Despite waiting for 15 minutes to retrieve my car, I noticed others being served more promptly. When I approached the valet for information, he seemed unaware of my car's location, which was a bit frustrating. Despite this minor hiccup, the hotel staff inside the venue were exceptional. They were attentive and eager to assist throughout the event, making the overall experience quite enjoyable. While I didn't stay overnight, the Fairmont Chateau's grandeur and the helpfulness of its staff certainly left a positive mark on my day at the event.

  • 4/5 Ray E. 10 months ago on Google
Overall an excellent location, excellent service from staff, an iconic Hotel. However, a huge negative is that the hotel swimming pool is best avoided, as it's lacking any real maintenance and is quite dirty. It's an example of how *not* to run a leisure facility - Absent staff on arrival, dirty floor in the changing rooms and scum on the pool tiles at water level before I even get to the health and safety issues!

  • 2/5 Hatim Y. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty horrible experience all round. We were greeted at the driveway with, "You can't park here!" Next, there were no parking spots at the hotel because there was a wedding being held there and the main garage was under renovation. Then we discovered that the prominently displayed "breakfast" while reserving is actually a separate cost of $40 per person per night. Finally, woke up on the first morning to notice what looked like a blood stain on one of our sheets. So far, it could all be chalked up to misunderstandings and/or bad luck. But what really pushed it over the top was how staff responded when we dared to complain. I kept my cool and tried to speak to the receptionist and she actually kept looking at her screen while I was talking. When I asked her to look at me when I was speaking to her, she actually said, "well I'm not the owner of the hotel or a manager." The manager was better and apologetic but only did the bare minimum of resetting the suite for us. If it wasn't for the location it would get 1 star.

This is an outdated hotel. Small rooms, basic amenities in relation to more contemporary properties. I have a feeling they rely on their history and location. Hotel access from the parking area is a disaster. Would not recommend.

I actually lived here for a few weeks as a child. My parents were hosting a national convention in Ottawa and were put up in the hotel for the weeks leading up to the show. I hadn't been inside for decades, but recently attended a charity breakfast on the terrace. It is a gorgeous hotel. I am considering it for my next staycation.

This hotel was incredible. Nice rooms, beautiful pool, and the best fitness room I have ever seen in a hotel. It is a stone's throw from parliament hill, which made site seeing quite easy. The staff will do their best to ensure you are satisfied with your stay. They were able to get me into my room prior to check-in time, and when my child forgot a laptop, they had it shipped the same day. I will definitely be back when we visit the great city of Ottawa again. Thanks for the great service!

A great historic hotel of Ottawa with beautiful architecture. The chateau Laurier has so much to experience from the inside to the outside and it’s part of the growth of Canada. This hotel has hosted heads of state, famous people and it even has a ghost inside. If you like my reviews, photos or videos then be fair and climb on top of the chateau and Laurier the like button

Stayed here for an amazing night! Superb decor and classy feel all round the hotel, starting right from the lobby area. The suite was very luxurious, with a view of the Parliament. Because of the very high service standard, best possible location in the heart of Ottawa and a castle-like feel, will highly recommend to stay here!

Beautiful hotel central to lots of attractions. The staff are friendly and the beds are comfortable but I wouldn't stay here again. We stayed on Gold level. When the basic room starts at $500 a night you don't expect to see things in disrepair. Half of the elevators had open electrical boxes where the floor indicator sign should have been. These would have been very easy to cover. When we checked in, valet was in complete chaos. People were complaining that they had to wait 30+ minutes to get their vehicle. Everything was very disorganized. This does not make a good first impression, especially when it costs $60 a night for parking. Upon checkout I couldn't review my bill because they didn't have the proper equipment to give me one. In my experience most high end hotels put a copy of your bill under your door on day of checkout, and I have never been to any hotel that couldn't provide me one period. I eventually received my bill by email, but it was only for half my stay so I still have no idea what the charges are or if they are correct. Our stay was just after a large storm that caused a power outage that continued to affect the elevators (power back on but elevators kept going out of service). People were milling around the elevator hall for 20+ minutes waiting for an elevator and then had to hunt down a staff member to either reset them or take people up the service elevator. Since this was a recurring problem there should have been a staff member monitoring this, or at least a sign advising of the problem. I understand it was an issue out of their control - it was handled poorly.

The towels are so worn multiple threads hanging plus a slight tear. Checked in after waiting went & got our own luggage. Checking out, valet brought car handed me keys & walked away. Better yet 4 valets outside the hotel watched while we loaded the bags. No housecoats in room the first night. The hotel is old and needs updating but of the 4 hotels visited this week the Fairmount staff was by far the weakest. Just sad to see having stayed before & enjoying it so much before.

Highly over rated place. They profess 5 Star atmosphere and service but their standards are of that of a cheap motel. They treat you like a motel visitor as well. The Fridge in the room is electronically monitored - so much for 5 star treatment. It is a matter of time before they have things like the TV Remote, Kettle, Coffee Machine all chained in like any cheap Motel thst does not trust its guests, no matter what their profiles are. This is what got even though I am a Platinum member in their Loyalty Program and was staying in a Club Room paying higher rates.

An iconic hotel situated in an excellent area if your are visiting Ottawa. You will br walking distance from parliament hill and other touristic attractions. Pros:Staff is great and take their jobs seriously. You will feel welcome the moment you enter the hotel. Rooms are big and really clean. The bar offers a great selection to chose from. Food is great and really well served. Cons: this is an expensive place. At night you can hear all the noise from the hall and elevators. And if you have noisy neighbors you will be listening them all time. Deco is old fashioned but alas provides a great impact if you consider that you are sleeping in a castle.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to another era with the stunning architecture and elegant decor. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities one could want. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. I also had the chance to dine in the restaurant and the food was fantastic! The location of the hotel is perfect, just steps away from the heart of Ottawa and all its beautiful attractions. I highly recommend the Fairmont Château Laurier for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in the city.

Made a reservation here for december 29th and was charged in October when i made the reservation. I tried to cancel once hockey game got cancelled and phoned in. I was informed they entered it in for a day in November and that they would not be refunding me. I have been billed $425 and did not use their hotel. Will be phoning the credit card company to fight this charge. Horrible customer service, this place is a scam. Unbelievable with covid going on that they would scam someone like this.

The hotel has a modern-day victorian-styled architecture - the external look and the internal designs. From the lobby, to the elevator, to the rooms. Check-in was quick and fast. The staff were super helpful and listened. The location is in downtown Ottawa and close to most consulate, embassies etc. There are some other amenities that I didn’t get to check-out: pool, restaurant, spa (I think ), art gallery etc.

My wife and I spent the weekend at Fairmont: Building: 10/10, you feel the history in the building, feels like a palace, so many pictures of royal personalities,...,etc Location: 10/10, walking distance from many spots in downtown. Service: 10/10, they make you feel like a royalty! Room: 2/10, very outdated, shower had a very poor water pressure, also very old furniture. Amenities: 3/10, inhouse bar and restaurants were good but pool (or heated pool as advertised) was extremely cold. Parking: 4/10, it costs $60 a night

The $88 pp pre-fixe dinner, no option to choose. Appetizers were good, but were very obviously refrigerated long in advance and very cold to taste. The main course was generally disappointing, everything tasted the same. A heavy meal not in a good way. We did not finish. The dessert was again, disappointing. See photos. (Also, there's something to say about the old white dinner plates that should have been replaced a while ago..) Instead of the large meal with limited choices, we would have much better preferred a single item made to perfection. Same for the appetizers and desserts. The service was good. As locals, we go to Chateau for Brunch/Lunch/Dinner for the ambiance and to have a great meal. Used to bring clients to treat them as well. However, since covid, the quality of menu and the taste has declined. We understand some of it may be due to covid, but other restaurants are now back to serving great meals. Would love to have that special experience back at the Chateau, so there's something to savor after, not just the large bill.

I don't know about the hotel rooms, but the recreation facilities are very good and the staff are friendly and professional. The pool is an iconic 1940s style and during Covid you can swim with 10 people or less, plus kids are free.

Stellar experience! Every level of service, from valet parking and pickup to check in, check out, room service, and breakfast was exquisitely and professionally done, with some of the kindest, most professional staff ever. Walking around the hotel really feels like stepping back in time to the 1930s, the era and design have been so well preserved. The location couldn't be any better, with Parliament Hill, Rideau Canal, and the market all super easy to walk to. Sure, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for.

As expected an excellent experience. Room Food service staff. All top notch. Only complaint would be the blinds in the rooms having rips in them making the room a bit brighter than needed.

👍👍 5 stars for the whole experience. View is one of a kind. TV with sports. Glass window balcony over water. Old wood pub feel indoor. The menu has really improved over the years and I’ve still had everything on it gradually - had the Korean fried chicken burger today. And I will again 🤤 The beer they...
