I do love a good cemetery! Crown hill seems to be the best in Indiana, and has more Vice Presidents than any other. James Whitcomb Riley’s Greek revival hilltop tomb is beautiful and has a lovely view. Dillinger was a little hard to find, but nice that he made it to the family plot. The Stan Malless tennis net marker was my favorite.

My funeral director Ms. Lalita Easter was the most amazing person I've ever worked with in a long time. She showed compassion, grace, and a lot of professionalism to our family in our time of need. She understood what we wanted and needed to carry out our mother's final wishes, and we would not have asked for a better person on this journey with us as we laid her to rest. You're so awesome Ms. Lalita Easter we say thank so much and we salute you❤.

Creepy and morbid you may think, or historic and interesting. Go through the Gothic gates. Visit the Gothic chapel. Get a map. Visit former Benjamin Harris' grave, Gatlinburg (maker of Gatling gun), John Dilinger...and many beautiful monuments. If you like architecture, art, and sculptures then go take a look.

My daughter's grave has been moved, I had not been contacted. I called office in total of 3 times have spoken to 3 employees. On the weekend I discovered she's in a different grave place. I called back Monday( female) was very rude, with the promise of a call back that never came. The male employee transferred me to office manager voice-mail I left voice-mail with my information, the reason for my call and the manager has not returned my call. I do have transportation and could go in person, but instead I have filed an complaint with the BBB, and I'm not done there. I'm looking for every stone i can turn over to get to the bottom of this. I will not be ignored. I declare war!

This is a cemetery I would recommend visiting if you’re going to, or passing through, Indianapolis. There is so much to see here. There are so many interesting and old (very old) gravestones. It’s a beautiful property to walk around in.

This place has me wishing I would have went somewhere else. With most of the staff being so careless and uncompationate. From them “forgetting” to contacting us to order my baby’s headstone after everything was already paid for and then telling us it would take 3-4 months to get here and then us calling 4months later to learn nothing was ever ordered from never taking care of my daughters death certificate until now almost a year later and still managing getting everything wrong for the 3rd time after we sat down with Leanne and went through details and names and still being done wrong. Till a year almost later when they installed her headstone and still installed the wrong base. They say they did have anything in the paperwork but didn’t take the time to pick up a phone and call us to ask what we would like until we come and see that everything has been installed they didn’t have the courtesy to inform us the headstone had arrived so many head aches and calls so they well do a job that we paid for because we paid for services that were not meet in a timely manner no apologies or anything. This place is not the place to go if your trying to get things done. These people are so rude and uncaring

Amazing cemetery. It is very beautiful. I just want to take a moment to say thank you for not allowing anyone to disturb the grave of John Dillinger over ridiculous claims that it is not really him in the grave. This would not just be disturbing his family but would be disturbing everyone who is buried in that area. They only wanted to do this for the purpose of a TV show, and it was not allowed to be done because the wonderful people at the cemetery stood their ground and demanded respect for all who lay at rest here. Thank you so much.

Just an amazing place with a lot of energy from the staff to host great events and create fun interactive apps that not only pay tribute to those buried there but also keep the memories of these great people alive and well. There are presidential and racing apps among many other themes available to use at the cemetery.

A year ago my baby girl passed away due to her being born 21 weeks early. I had acquired their services and had expected nothing but quality service from them. Being that they have done business with a very close family member of mine. An employee that had worked there had taken care of the arrangements with my grandmother and had arranged it to where my grandmother could purchase her own stone to lay down at my daughters grave. But when my grandmother inquired about laying down the stone she purchased. She was told that she couldn’t lay the headstone down, because she was told by an employee that the stone she had was too big for the grave. But little do they know she was there at the burial and the grave they dug for my daughter was a very big days for an infant. Then was told that she had purchased and instead had to buy from them and was charged accordingly. Which was totally unfair considering the fact that she has all of her receipts and paperwork from the purchase of the stone. i go to put flowers on my daughters grave for Mother’s Day and I couldn’t find my daughter at all. The grave didn’t have a marker and it was unkept. It’s been over a year and the stone that was ordered through Crown Hill Funeral Home is still not even there. I’m very disappointed how my daughter’s grave has been kept and I was very hurt that I couldn’t visit my daughters grave, because I couldn’t find her. As a mother, I am deeply hurt and disappointed with Crown Hill’s services. This is very unacceptable and inexcusable for the way things have been. To this very day I have yet to find where my daughter is buried for me to visit her and it hurts me deeply that I can’t find her.

Evan Price worked closely with our family in preparation for our parents memorial service in June. I met with Evan on multiple occasions, as he was always available to answer questions and change arrangements as necessary. We were so happy that Evan was able to be with us for the service in the Gothic Chapel and then at the gravesite where he had helped to secure the military honor guard for my father. We feel that Evan became part of our family and we hope to stay in touch.

With the sudden and tragic death of my husband several months ago, (he was killed by a drunk driver), my daughter's and my lives changed in an instant. Although familiar with Crown Hill Cemetery, the unexpected and difficult preparation for his burial appeared daunting. However, the professional, supportive and expert assistance of Mr. Brandon Ware lightened this burden. His care and compassion were invaluable, as the perfect and most meaningful resting place for my husband was found. My sincerest thanks to all at Crown Hill for maintaining such a beautiful and peaceful cemetery, Irene T. Kratsios

After the death of my wife I was served by Evan Price at Crown Hill Cemetery. I found Evan to be compassionate, knowledgeable, and acceptable. He guided me well through the burial process and provided with some very informative and helpful information after the service. I would recommend Crown Hill! We had prearranged our needs. I would highly advise others to do the same.

I was very impressed with the services for my husband. They were very respectful in every detail that we requested. Leanne Hofmann was the Director for our services. She was very professional, caring, friendly, and handle every detail for my husband and my family with great Respect. She followed up on all questions and made me personally felt at ease for an occasion such as this. Due to the professionalism from the entire staff and catering group, my husband was Celebrated just as he would have wanted. He lived his life that way it celebrated, just the way he wanted.😊 I have no regrets from the beginning of the process to the very last moment to the ride home from the driver of the limousine serves. I want to THANK YOU all from the bottom of my heart for making Ralph’s home-going a Blessed Celebration for our family. May God continue to Bless you all in your lives and business!!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️

This cemetery is part of a historical tradition of cemeteries being arboretums. A concept that goes as far back as Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn and Mt Auburn in Mass. Crown Hill absolutely has to be discussed in the same breath at Lexington Cemetery (KY), Spring Gove (Cincy) and Cave Hill (KY) as a cemeter/park concept. As the city of Indianapolis has grown up around it, it has maintained its baroque and Victorian Mystique and is certain an escape from the hussle and bustle of the city. It's well kept and is very inviting to to recreational runners/cyclists. It's also got a lot of diverse trees, wildlife and I think the superintendent needs to be commended. This is also the final resting place to a US President, Three VP's, 11 (I think) governors and many historical characters from a bank robber to a judge in the Lincoln Conspirator tribunal. Certainly consider a visit and you wouldn't be disappointed. This place has meaning to me in that it is where I asked my wife to marry me.

Beautiful cemetery with lots of historic and notable spots, including John Dillinger’s grave, a stunning gothic architecture chapel, and loads of statues and flowers to enjoy.

I love taking a stroll through Crown Hill cemetery whenever I have a chance. It is especially beautiful during the fall months, as all of the leaves are changing colors! I love that you can see the city skyline in the background. Make sure you go up the steep hill to see the city skyline view. You won’t regret it!

Simply beautiful! I was absolutely amazed at the magnitude, design and location of James Whitcomb Riley’s memorial. This adoration of this man went far by so many. Not only did we all love his work, but local children personally had a special connection with him. It tugs so much at my heartstrings to know that they donated coins for his memorial. Happy to add some more to make their way to The Riley Hospital for Children. I am so happy that we came across this cemetery and we’re able to lay our respects.

Stunning! Hikerbabes of Central Indiana has hosted 2 events here the last few weeks, and I was lucky enough to attend the 2nd one! We saw SO MANY notable grave sites: John Dillinger, Lucy Seaton, The National Cemetery, Colonel Eli Lilly, James Whitcomb Riley & so many more. I am looking froward to going back, and while googling, found out I have family buried there! So, will be going back to check their graves out, also. I'm an Indy native, and I had not been to Crown Hill since a field trip as a child. I have had several friends throughout the years who walk or bike through the Cemetery, but just never went myself. Super glad I jumped on this opportunity with Hikerbabes!!

Had a celebration of life for my mother in law and had to find a location and plan the funeral from a different state. Alex, one of the funeral directors at Crown was very helpful and kind helping us plan everything. They helped with everything we needed when we had the service. Highly recommend this funeral home!!
