Me and my boyfriend stayed here for one night as a kind-of "romantic getaway." The hotel itself was very nice and luxurious and the staff were excellent and very friendly. We stayed in the "1 King Bed Deluxe Room" and I will say, the room itself was very clean, luxurious, and spacious. The bathroom was definitely the highlight. Very spacious and the rainfall shower was very nice and relaxing. The floor to ceiling window brought in a lot of natural light, and the view was pretty good as well! The lights over the bed were also dimmable with about 10 different settings. This was very much appreciated since we could create the perfect atmosphere for our "romantic evening." The room also included a Keurig and some K-Pods with Coffee. I'm not a Coffee Drinker but my boyfriend said the coffee was very delicious. There was also a mini-fridge in the room, but oddly no microwave... The TV had a very good lineup of channels to choose from as well. I really don't have any complaints regarding the room. I'm a Wyndham Rewards Member, and I paid for this stay using my Wyndham Points (so I actually paid nothing for the room itself, just 15,000 points.) However self-parking was NOT included with the room-rate, and was an extra $38. Kinda steep for overnight parking, although kind of ridiculous in my opinion it wasn't included with the room rate to begin with, especially considering the room-rate is about $250/night on average. For that price I also expect there to be a pool and hot-tub on-site, or a hot-tub in the room. This was not the case. I also expect complimentary breakfast to be included at that rate, and again, that was not the case. To the hotel's credit there is a breakfast buffet, although it's $18/person. There are also a couple of restaurants/bars on property so if you don't feel safe driving around downtown Indianapolis at night (which who would blame you) then you're covered there! (Although to be fair, the area where the hotel was located was a decent area. I noticed little to no traffic after around 11 PM and didn't hear or notice anything that I would consider "suspect." Plus the hotel is guarded by security all night so it is definitely a safe place to stay!) All in all I really did enjoy my stay here. Personally, I would not pay $250/night to stay here though. I think the price is too high for the amenities offered. But I have nothing negative to say regarding the hotel itself. If you have some extra cash you're wanting to burn for a nice and luxurious room, go for it!

Probably the most overpriced and overrated hotel in Indy. Staff trained to start every response with “Unfortunately.” We stayed for 4 days and not once was our room tended to by housekeeping (housekeeping is suspended by the hotel to save money—other hotels in Indy still have it, so look at those instead). The balcony door was broken, the water tank kept running, couch was dirty, and it took 48 hours to get extra cups from the staff. Only positive is the WONDERFUL valet parking staff, but in general, save your money and don’t stay here.

They did not honor our contract - We signed a contract with The Alexander to reserve a block of rooms 10 months prior to our daughter’s wedding. 29 rooms were reserved and confirmations were received several months prior to the cut-off date imposed by the hotel. - Three weeks before the wedding, we reviewed details, in person, with the Alexander sales department. All 29 guest rooms were confirmed. - 2 days before the wedding, The Alexander informed us that they were in an “overbook situation” and that they did not have availability for 10 of the 29 rooms in our block. The hotel told us we were to choose which guests we wanted to move out of The Alexander. We were also told that several other parties for Saturday night were impacted by the same situation due to the fact that “too many current hotel guests were staying through the weekend”. - On Saturday, wedding day, we found out that the hotel was actually hosting a visiting NFL team for the night. In addition to the loss of 10 rooms, wedding guests that were able check-in on Thursday for 3 nights were made to move rooms Friday morning, even though they were assured they would stay in the same room for all 3 nights. Our wedding guests received an 8:30am phone call instructing them to pack up and come to the front desk to get another room. Bottom line- The Alexander did not treat us as we would expect a hotel of their “reputation” to treat us. The Alexander Hotel appeared to put more priority and importance on the Jacksonville Jaguars football team than they did to a long scheduled wedding celebration. The Alexander did try to make it right by finding another hotel for our displaced guests and covering the costs of that switch. Unfortunately, having to move out-of-town wedding guests to another hotel 48 hours before their arrival tainted the whole experience at The Alexander. The people they booted out the hotel weren’t just faceless confirmation numbers. To us, those people were family and friends who had travelled to Indianapolis celebrate a marriage. Beware- if you’re at The Alexander, they may decide that some guests are more important to them than others.

I was a little worried about using a boutique hotel, but The Alexander was great! Primely located in downtown Indianapolis with easy access to parking (garage - $35+ per day), local roads/highways, restaurants, shops, the stadiums/arenas, etc. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and I though the beds and pillows were especially good compared to the usual flimsy ones you experience elsewhere. The restaurant and shop within the hotel were easy to access and offered a great breakfast, supplies, etc. There is some wear and tear on the furniture, doors, walls, etc., so that was the only detractor.

I stayed at the hotel and they placed three holds on my credit card for various amounts. Now I have two charges posted to my credit card. One charge is accurate, but the other isn’t. I’ve been trying to reach someone from accounting for days and left numerous messages. No response. I recommend checking your credit card statements after staying here. I will never stay here again.

I chose to stay at the Alexander because of their charging station in the garage. The hotel staff were lovely. My only gripe is I asked for another towel, when promised 20 minutes, it arrived an hour and a half later when we were in bed. The lounge treated us with kindness even though we had a 7 and 8 yr old in tow. We enjoyed a tasty dessert and popcorn before heading to bed. I'd stay there again.

The outside of the hotel is nice, especially the bar and lobby area. The room and hallway decor is average. The ice machines unfortunately don't have any ice and the sensors seem to be on vacation. The phone in my room wasn't plugged in for me to call the front desk. I did not get greeted by staff members as well. All little things that can be fixed, but they make all the difference. Hopefully this gets fixed. Room service is exceptionally slow as well. I expected better from a 4 star hotel.

Not properly staffed. Breakfast service broken. I gave up trying to get breakfast after the second morning. Bar closes at 10AM. Nice location but it’s only a room you’re getting. Nothing else works in this hotel. Review May 2023. Hope things change for both staff and guests.

The hotel was very nice and let me mention the staff was great from start to finish. My husband and I were only in the city for 3 days but with the service we were provided we will definitely be back for a nice weekend getaway soon. The staff at the Market Table along will make you want to revisit the Alexander in Indianapolis. If you looking for a nice hotel downtown Indy look no more, this is it! The rooms are a little small but next time we will do an upgrade to something a bit larger. Photo ops are all around so take advantage of it. It is a must and I can't wait to return <3

Stayed here one night, to run the Indy half in the morning. The staff was nice and the hotel itself is beautiful with all the artwork. However, it is not worth the price. We did not think our room was cleaned very well at all, there were splatters of who knows what all over the bathroom, a dirty towel left on our balcony, dirt under the chairs, and even our coffee maker did not work. It was a super long walk from the parking garage to our room, and there was no luggage carts to help with luggage. You can get the same experience at a much cheaper hotel.

This hotel is getting a little rough on the edges. Could use an upgrade, maybe some new art and furnishings. This hotel supposedly houses hundreds of thousands of dollars of art. The nice man at the desk let me know after pre-charging my card for "incidentals". 😂 The shower looked yucky on the floor. King room was big!

This place looked nice from the lobby but the rooms were disappointing dirty. I moved 3 times because the showers upon check in were disgusting/moldy and the staff understood ‘I guess they just changed how they do things’. They even visited a bunch of rooms and picked the best one for me. (Still was dirty) I stayed only because work recommended and long days prevent me from moving. I was told by check in staff that the manger would contact me but no one has. Additional issues: not using king sheets on a bed- so everything is short when you try to use the blankets & found hair in the bed. ( yuck) Cleaning staff came in and just picked up my towels covering the molding/dirty bathtub floor and did not clean it. (I wish I could add pictures) The breakfast was also disappointing- tasteless and thrown together with a stale wrap. Overall the place was not worth the 300+ a night and I will not return during my future visits. Poor management.

We had an ghastly experience at The Alexander. I was initially thrilled to spend Valentines day weekend within the hotel due to my previous experience. We arrived early (about 20 minutes) for check in but the room wasn't available which wasn't a big deal. We started to notice that everyone after our arrival was able to check in expeditiously without hesitation to get them to their room which was odd. After 40 minutes of waiting I requested status and was advised "they're still working on it". After 20 more minutes of waiting, I asked for another update and was met with again "they're still working on it". I then explained we had dinner reservations that we were late to and asked for a different room. They placed us in a different outside of the suite I reserved. Fast forward to now being charged for an extra day and no one within management being able to figure out why. I now have to go through the headache of working with my bank to ensure this is rectified. Please look into other options in downtown Indianapolis. They're some other hotels that will take the extra mile to ensure that you and your loved one will have an exceptional time while meeting your needs.

The rooms are the classy. With every situation they took care of us treatment of royalty. Very clean rooms, great 5 star room service . Staff trip over themselves to help you. Manger was super friendly plan to come back next time we are in the area.

Great location, great atmosphere. Room was not up to standard, suffered from deferred maintenance; multiple fixtures not working. Shower needed a deep cleaning. Room was spacious and the bed was terrific. Hotel refunded ⅓ of our stay. A little disappointed in food service over-all, bar closes early for a weekend, but the breakfast bar was good. Currently, not on par @$275/night for the room, but the restaurant and bar were great in previous visits.

I nearly missed out on this fantastic room, but a quick check on ʜᴏᴛᴇʟᴅᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ made all the difference. Nice and modern hotel. Although, they didn't have a pool, stay was enjoyable. Pet friendly, they didn't put you on a floor that smells like animals and it was accommodating to pets. Outdoor eating and door area. My only complaint, they didn't have menus of places in the area to eat and you kinda stumbled across the room service menu online. Front desk guys were helpful. Some could've been more useful instead of hearing the same, idk story, but overall...a 9...would be a stay again place.

I should preface this by saying that I typically spend most of my time in lower end 2 and 3 star hotels. This hotel is one of the most expensive I've stayed in probably ever. The 2 most important things in the room- the beds and the linens- were 98% perfect, minus a hair on one of the pillows. In a 2 or 3 star hotel, this is really all that I look for. But in a place that was this expensive, I was looking for a little bit more. For example, the furniture in the room was relatively beat up and in rough shape. The mirror in the bathroom was falling off of the wall. General scratches/scuffs on various surfaces. The darkening shade on the window had rips, tears, and stains all over it. The shower head had almost nonexistent water pressure. One thing I did not much appreciate (although I won't hold it to the hotel, since it's my opinion) is the lighting situation. The whole keycard-in-the-wall thing is fine, I just didn't like that you can't turn off the main overhead lights from anywhere but the entrance. That said, the lobby was very nice, and the people were friendly. We were on the 6th floor facing the YMCA across the street and the view was pretty nice. Overall, at the minimum, the beds and towels were clean, but in a hotel that was over $300 for one night, I really was expecting the room to be in much better condition than it was. At least it was relatively quiet at night, especially for being downtown.

For all those weary travelers tired of overpriced accommodations, I highly recommend giving HoteIDuIIy.cᴏm a shot. Their price comparison tool is a game-changer, and this spectacular room rate is just one example. My room was exceptionally clean, although the room decor didn't really match the modern decor of the public areas of the hotel. Hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, drug store, etc.

We were so excited to stay here, but unfortunately they spent more money on paint and decor than they did on function or staff. Very, very understaffed in all aspects. Made showers white but don't clean the floors well so they look grey and moldy. Walls for inside and outside paper thin -- you can hear everything. I live in Chicago and am used to noise and couldn't sleep here. The one front desk staff and the one waitress are so nice but needed 3-4 times the people. Really disappointed.

The lobby and bar are nice (beer selection is not what it appears if you look at the taps). The hotel looks nice but it is a bit of a veneer. Breakfast was great, lunch and dinner less so. On arrival day the elevator worked off and on (and I was on the top floor). The location is nice, but you need to look at the details to get a real sense of the hotel.

Kind of a facade of fancy. The main areas of the hotel are nicer and the outside looks great but the rooms are old and gross. Bed was comfy and firm though which was nice and pillows were fantastic and didn’t give me a neck ache.

The location is a major plus being in the heart of Downtown. The service was impeccable and the rooms were very lovely. However, we didn't have any hot water. It got lukewarm and we definitely tried it for several minutes but it never got hot and the water pressure was poor. Beyond the bathroom experience everything was A1 spot on. We've stayed here before and will definitely stay here again

The hotel gives the impression of being a well-run establishment upon entering and seeing the decor and environment. However, upon check in we were notified that the elevator was not working. We stayed in suites on the top 2 floors and had to take stairs each time we left or returned to the hotel. The valet did take our bags upstairs for us, but for the price we paid for the rooms (over $7,000 total) it was surprise that the elevators were not even being worked on the entire 3 nights we stayed. We had breakfast at Platt 99 on the first morning and decided to purchase cereal and milk after the experience we had. Getting the food took a very long time (some waited over 40 minutes for a bowl of fruit). There were also a large amount of fruit flies flying around during the entire meal. The coffee was very good. We specifically chose the rooms we stayed in for the added benefit of having a washer/dryer to use during our trip. 2 of the 4 suites did not include a washer and dryer although it was listed on the website. There were many inconsistencies in what was offered from room to room. For example, some rooms had a blow dryer while others didn’t. Some rooms were well stocked with linens for the pull out couch and others were not. When we called the front desk to ask for linens they never came so we went to the front desk (after waiting an hour and walking down the many flights of stairs) and the security person took us to get the sheets from the supply room. There were multiple nights that we could hear arguing and fighting from the streets below- loud enough to wake us up. Overall, the stay at this hotel was not worth the price we paid. We plan to visit Indianapolis again and are going to try to avoid staying here due to the basic services that were unavailable. (Elevators, bug-free dining, and listed room accommodations)

My husband and I had a great experience at The Alexander! Everyone was very kind and helpful. Larisa our valet person was very sweet and gave us a helpful tip to try The Back 9 instead of waiting in a long line at Top Gulf which we enjoyed going there as well. We would highly recommend The Alexander to anyone planning to visit Indianapolis.

I loved the convenience of this hotel for our annual meeting. It was very clean and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend to anyone who needs to stay in the area.

Nice enough, clean, large rooms. We stayed in the "extended stay" side with 2 bedrooms. There were several things in our room that didn't work well or at all. Most annoyingly was the very low water pressure. Parking is $35 a night. Yikes. The location is amazing, close to where the Pacers play and a few blocks from the Colts field.

New guest experience - Townie bike! (helmet and lock provided) Great way to bike around the local Cultural Trail, White River Trail or local attractions. Alex at front desk is super helpful and new Text message option for fast response to any inquiries while you stay. Wifi is being changed this week - trouble my first day and that now seems to be working fine on my floor (Alex did advise me of this situation) . Nice return stay so far.

Have been here several times for business meetings and a seminar. I have not stayed in the rooms, but the service, food, and facilities are always top notch. Today, I can't say enough good things about the valet parking, too. Was having a rough morning coming in for a seminar... and the valet really made the mood better, coming and going. Super fast and great service. I like coming here over some of others in town now.

I did not spend anytime at the hotel, but I was walking downtown and I found myself lost in front of the Alexander. I asked Alex at the valet for directions. He was so kind and helpful! He even took extra time to give me some of his personal recommendations around the area. If the hotel service is as good as Alex's customer service at the valet, then I am certain that I would enjoy my stay! Bravo Alex!!!

This review is not on the Hotel, but on the Restaurant " Yolk". All five of us agreed the breakfast was Excellent. A little pricey, but the food and cook of the food undeniably a class act. We got a large bottle of the stawberry/orange juice to share, and "oh my" was it good. Will definitely go back.

Not a kids hotel, but my 5 and 8 year old loved the art. Especially the graffiti in the parking garage. The basic rooms were nice, although the shower tiles need to be soaked in bleach or 409 (mold/ stains that were set in the grout).

  • 5/5 Christine G. 2 years ago on Google
Enjoyed the hotel. Valet is costly but worth the extra. Super close to Gainbridge so would suggest if coming for a game or concert. Nice gym. Be aware very little food options around, especially on weekends, but delivery worked fine. Kid friendly but lots of art so may not be the best choice with little little kids.

  • 2/5 Alan Z. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely left this place with a bad taste in my mouth...you'd think on a Sunday morning when a lot of families are checking out they would have more than 1 parking attendant. At $45.00/night for valet parking they certainly should be able to afford to be properly staffed...but they are not and the hour we had to wait for our keys made us late for an engagement. Inexcusable! And what is more inexcusable is their failure to respond to my 2 messages on their website about this issue. Next time I am looking to spend $250 a night I will go elsewhere where I know the service will be better!

The hotel was nice. Staff were friendly for the most part. But the housekeeping! Stayed 6 nights. No cleaning. The paper on check-in said Covid was the reason. But you could request a refresh. Those requests went unanswered. Got a couple fresh towels part way through the stay. Asked for garbage to be emptied. Didn’t happen. Slow moving drain in bathroom sink, never fixed. Unfortunate because it’s a great location and could be super nice with some servicing!

It's really the little things that set a hotel apart. The first thing I noticed every time I come here is upon walking in the door a pleasant subtle aroma that is very calming. Also from the valet to the front desk to the folks working in every role I've encountered, they are all pleasant and helpful. The rooms are modern, sleek, and quite comfortable. The shower has a lovely rain head, the bed offers excellent support and there are plenty of electrical outlets for all of today's necessary gadgets. My favorite place to stay in Indianapolis.

I had to go to Indianapolis on business and I was recommended this hotel by a coworker. It was a very nice hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I booked my stay Through a third-party which was a mistake on my part but because I will stay in for two weeks the hotel manager upgraded me to an extended stay suite, it was very nice of him considering he did not have to do that! The decor in the hotel was very nice. The artwork was exceptional and very unique! The entire staff was very helpful and friendly throughout my entire two weeks they never had an issue during my stay!

I don’t use valet much, but this time I did. Brandon greeted me when I walked thru the door and helped me find nesso. The hotel itself is AMAZING. But the staff is top notch. Thanks to Alex, Brandon, and the rest of the Alexander crew.

The Alexander is a cool place to stay in downtown Indy. Very close to the Convention Center and just a few blocks from Circle Centre Mall and many awesome restaurants. This place has a cool Urban vibe and over 300 pieces of artwork onsite. Highly recommend to stay a night here when you have the chance.
