Essence locates at the lobby of Tung Chung Citygate Novotel, you can go there by MTR getting off at Tung Chung station. Following the direction to the Citygate and going up to the highest floor by using the elevator. Walking through the outlets until the end you will find a elevator which can bring you down to the hotel lobby. While walking through the outlets you can stop over to do some shopping if you like there are many outlets with all well-known brands. At the hotel lobby you will easily find Essence. Essence provides all you can eat lunch buffet. Chinese Dim Sum, Japanese Sushi, BBQ beef, shell fish, egg tat, all kind of cakes, stream fish, salad, fruits, soup, cheese, smoke salmon, various Chinese food... ice-cream...you name it...

Excellent cooking and comfortable seat. Although it is not a fancy restaurant, the food is sufficient, clean and yummy.

Highly recommended for locals and tourists to HK,especially for those visiting and staying around Tung Chung area. Nice ambiance and cool environment to dine into the varieties of food and catch up with friends too. Can redeem free / discount parking from Citigate with receipts.

Dinner buffer and Breakfast buffet bundle with my birthday staycation. During my stay the restaurant is overcrowded. I don't know if it affects the staff's attitude but overall it gives a strong sense of "instant made". Frozen food like sushi, sausages is so so. Dessert of dinner buffet is highly not recommended: bean curd dessert seems been put there for hours and began to swell with a bit sour taste; the "bread pudding" you can notice it's made from triangle shape toast that makes you associate with toast that left over from morning breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet have even more customers and got even worse, long queue for fresh egg that when I got mine, my seat was clean up that staff thinks that I've already gone. Hot food gone warm and cold meat also gone warm. As it's freebie with room I can't have much to talk about but I think I won't pay for buffet like that.

Essense serves buffet dominantly, for lunch , dinner. There is room for improvement on the food quality here. The slices of meat dishes is hard, whatever steak, curry, stew. There are some cold seafood which is surprising in this price tag, ignoring the quality. The salad and carpacio is ok. The ingredients in spicy pot are not well marinated, and are plain. The best is the movenpick ice-cream which is unlimited.

For the price we paid ($26x per head), this buffet is a great deal. Food quality was ok, and a good variety. It has highchair for baby and toddler. Service was ok, you can tell they may need more staff, but their existing staff are friendly.
