230₺ per night, including breakfast, it’s a fair price. Breakfast was delicious, the bed was comfortable, and the receptionist are nice and willing to help😊. But when the first day I was going to take a shower, there was no hot water😞, so I dressed up and went to the reception, then they solved the problem. Then I found that the shower tap was rotten, it’s not a big deal but I think they should have it repaired.

Worst hostel I've ever been. The location is annoying. Didn't get a good sleep because it's practically impossible because of the noise from outside and also from other guests. The room is so small and it has only one window that opens up at 20° so there is no ventilation at all. And the WC is never clean. Staff is not nice or helpful at all. And the "breakfast" they serve is just a joke. INSANE. Don't stay here. Ps: restaurants nearby are scams and always try to charge extra money -called "taxes" when they don't accept card and obviously don't pay taxes at all- apart from the irrational prices they have (and the food is not good at all). Highly not recommended.

I initially booked 4 nights. According to agoda's cancellation conditions, I canceled the hotel in good time because we decided on another accommodation. I still went back to the Hotel Hanchi and talked to the boss there and clarified whether the cancellation was okay. He and his employee lied to my face that everything was ok. In the end, Agoda still debited 160 euros and I had to chase my money for almost 3 months and write numerous emails. In the end, my German bank got the money back for me. But the trick from Hotel Hanchi is clear: “Give us your money and get out, stupid tourist”. therefore not recommended. The hotel itself is on a terrible tourist street, would generally advise against the area.

The best hostel you can find in Istanbul. Very friendly Arminian staff and a very humble owner. I've stayed for 8 days, The hostel is very clean and comfortable. You can cook your own meal in the kitchen and have your breakfast. You can play Billiards or Playstation with your friends, You can enjoy sitting on the rooftop. You can wash your own clothes in the sink if you don't wanna use the washing machine. Overall The hostel is just perfect. I will definitely stay there again. Thank you guys for everything.

I don’t recommend it to anyone. Everything was awful. We booked 6 mix dormitory room but it was 12 beds !!! Room was dirty and smelled very bad. The Toilets were always dirty. The staff were not polite and they were always busy with games!!! Breakfast was very bad. The closets in the room did not have locks and we had to buy them. And the neighborhood wasn’t safe.

This hostel can and should improve a lot. The bathrooms were horrible, photo attached. Every time you went they were dirtier than the time before. Then the noise that is heard in the rooms at night is horrible, also when my friends and I were there there was a mix-up in the beds and we had to change because they had given us the wrong ones. The receptionist who attended us in the afternoon left a lot to be desired, and they also did not give us any facility to move around Istanbul, they were not even able to call a taxi when it was snowing and we could not call as we had a Spanish number. The only decent thing was the dining room with foosball and ping pong.

I'm outraged by the staff! At the reception, the employee refused to put me in the room category I had previously booked, insisted that “Another room category is better!”, but at the same time refused to show me the room that he was imposing, stating that “I’m tired” and “It’s not my responsibility !”, while I was quite tired after a night spent on the road.At the same time, he did not even offer me to see the room on my own, he insisted that “You can see the room only after payment!”, so it was impossible to compare the room that the receptionist imposed on me with the one that I had booked in advance ! If the receptionist refuses to fulfill his duties or does not know them at all, he should not sit in this place at all!, just as the clients suffer from this! After I paid in Turkish lira, it was discovered that the exchange rate was too high, which was also not warned in advance! Be prepared that no one will help you get into your room and you will be forced to drag your bags up the stairs yourself! While I was resting in the room, a maid came in without knocking or warning, and despite my request that “Cleaning is not required today,” she unceremoniously began waving a mop in the middle of the room, more for show than with the goal of actually cleaning the room, like she didn’t even run a mop under the beds! Be prepared for the fact that guests tend to smoke on the balcony of the shared kitchen and the smoke goes into the kitchen!

The hotel is right near the main streets with local restaurants. I would call it famous place for having fun. I loved the vibe, music and dances on the streets near the hotel. Also, the noise from the outside was not heard in the rooms and hotel. It was nice.

I stayed in Hanchi in a female dormitory room. The is a cozy place with friendly stuff. They are really helpful guys. I saw them to assisted the guests who had any request or issue. I had a chance to talk to the hostel’s owner. He a is a very responsible man. He takes care of Hanchi 24/7. I also want to mention breakfasts. They are simple but sooo delicious. It contains everything you need. And the portion is totally enough. Another amazing thing there was a roof. There are some well arranged space where you can enjoy the sun on a swing or chill on the bench under an umbrella. Prices are reasonable. Especially for this famous historical area. There are Ayasofya and SultanAhmet mosques in a walking distance. I highly recommend Hanchi👍👍👍

In this hostel, you can feel your are at home. Very friendly people and service. Internet is available. Kitchen is clean. Bathroom always cleaned. Prices is suitable. Location in the middle of yanikapi. They just need to add more options in the breakfast. There is cafe, roof, kitchen, xbox, Landry... In the hostel.

Awesome hostel with really friendly staff. Great location close to just about everything you want to see in Istanbul. Super comfortable beds and hot showers 👌 Really decent breakfast included. Parked my motorcycle out on the walking Street in front of the property with no issues for the 3 weeks I stayed here 🏍️💨💝 Great hostel! By far the worst part of this hostel is the actual owner that really cramps the vibe of the place. I think he has good intentions but he comes off as a jerk and ruins the mood for a lot of the guests here. That said I'll be coming back on my next trip to Istanbul 💗

Everything is perfect except no hot water and dirty bathroom so this is why 4star. Before I came, I saw people complain about the noise, but no worries! I slept so well and didn’t heard any noise when the windows were closed even it located in a street full of restaurants. The breakfast is so basic with breads and jams, tea and coffee, but for this pice breakfast included is enough. The WiFi and air-conditioner are strong.

The beds were a good concept, but they need mini fans in the bed. I got too hot with no air circulation because they had shades for privacy which was a nice and necessary feature. My room was way too loud with many people going in and out and lights turning on and off people having loud conversations, so unfortunately I did not sleep at all the entire night.

It was clean and safe which are the most important aspects to me, but don't expect a smile or anything other than the absolute basics from the front desk staff.

  • 4/5 Ann R. 1 year ago on Google
Good location, 15 minutes walk to the blue mosque, surrounded by restaurants, there's a bus stop near by but the tram is a bit far so if you're arriving with suitcases it might be better to get there by taxi. Guys at the front desk were always very helpful, the one who checked us in even helped us with our suitcases cause there's no elevator. I emailed the hostel to get directions on how to get there from the airport and they replied quickly so it was really easy to get there (just take the shuttle to Taksim Square from the airport and the take a taxi to the hostel).Make sure to ask them about the time you need to be at the airport for your flight cause traffic gets crazy in Istanbul. Only thing I didn't like was that the room had a weird smell.

Overall, I would recommend the Hanchi Hostel to others looking for affordable and comfortable accommodation in Istanbul, with the caveat that the breakfast may not be as varied as some guests might hope for. The hostel's other amenities and services, however, are definitely worth praising.

6 people share one small room or 12 people share two rooms. The downstairs bed is very low and i had to buy a lock for 40 lira to lock the locker lol. If I pay 100 lire, they will take my clothes, wash them and bring them back. There is an air conditioner, but I couldn't use it because there was no remote control. In the room, the Wi-Fi signal was weak and kept dropping, so it was better to just use my mobile data. Every day outside the hostel they play loud music until around 23:00 and the smell of cigarettes constantly comes into the hostel. This hostel is cheap, in a great location, and has a nice staff named yohan, but it's the worst hostel for a long stay

    1. Wifi don't work well in all floors 2. Beds and rooms are really dirty (see pics) 3. Bathroom was really dirty and don't work well (see pics) 4. Breakfast was really bad 5. Not a good stuff (just one guy was very cool and helpfull) 6. Spend €2 more for your night and get a nice hostel like bauhaus etc. 7. I recognized that some girl had trouble because guys came in there rooms (which where only for women). Also other guest had trouble. All my room mate said it was there worst experience in a hostel (a Russian guy and one from Ghana)

  • 5/5 Kaylie R. 5 years ago on Google
Had kind, helpful staff. Rooms were clean and not too crowded. Not enough bathrooms in my opinion as people were often waiting for a shower. Provided a great free breakfast! It has a bar in the main reception area and is a good area for socializing with other guests. Well located - about a 15-20 minute walk from the major sites.

Pathetic rooms. Very conjusted and always crowded. Toilets are smelly and not cleaned. Water was all over the floor. Beds are of poorest quality. The restaurants outside play loud music till late night so don't even think to sleep before midnight.

I do not recommend it to anyone because it is not safe, I lost 800 euros there, even the police couldn't do anything and even the hostel owner told me that he couldn't do anything, he even told me that I had to leave in the morning because I filed a complaint with the police knowing that I I spent there about 15 days, even his children in the reception don't speak well + the rooms are not clean and there is a constant noise + if you put anything in the fridge you won't find it because they will eat it. I would not recommend it to anyone!!

I recommend this place to every solo or even group travelers. Its cheapest, clean and have space to sit qt ground floor as well as qt top, breakfast included in 170 Lira/Night. Its in center, 650 mter from Grand bazar, 400 mter from sea walk, 1 km from hogiya sophia and any other tourist place. 1.3km from Havabus stop, and 1 km from metro train stop. Surrounded with hotel, Pakistani hotel Lahore darbar just 100 meter away, they have excellent taste. I tasted their white chiken karahi. Best best best.

The room is so small and there is no ventilation at all and the WC is never clean. Totally unhygienic. Restaurants nearby are scams and always try to charge extra money. Highly not recommended for non-smokers at the entrance to the hotel all are sitting & smoking you even can’t breath.

I had an excellent experience at this hostel! The atmosphere was friendly, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The dormitory rooms were clean, and the common areas were perfect for socializing with fellow travelers. Plus, it's budget-friendly. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay while exploring the area.
