This place is great to buy souvenirs but be mindful of how crowded it may be. So many stores offer the same and you'll have to show off your best negotiation skills to get the best deals. I recommend looking for the same product on different stores and comparing prices. Some of the salespeople are very polite and relaxed but some others will jump over you if they see you pointing towards some item with your finger. The main aisle (date of review: March 2022) was under reparation and made it a little less comfortable to walk around. Buy souvenirs here, but watch out with the carpets, they don't necessarily offer the best prices in Istambul.

It's a fantastic place. You can come here for the history and culture of the place as well as to get some goods or souvenirs at good bargain prices. The place has around 4000 shops, and is located over a large area. From my experience, shops that are near the entrance or on the immediate outside, were selling at cheaper rates than the ones deeper inside the bazaar. Always remember, unless the shop strictly says fixed price, there is always room for bargaining. Items such as shoes, leather items, carpets and lighting are usually more bargain heavy, items such as Turkish delights and spices are more of fixed pricing, but some shops allow you to haggle.

We visited today to have a look around and was very impressed with this bazaar. It's a network of many streets filled with many vendors of all types of ornaments, gifts, spices and jewellery. If you're a tourist, be prepared to really bargain as they look at your face and give a price that comes to mind, it's also beneficial to have some prices in mind. The variety of items found here isn't available outside and those items are expensive. But it's definitely a must visit for the experience as we've not seen a vast bazaar like this before.

It is usually crowded and lively here and bargaining is a must. Look for narrow corridors and stairs to get to more secluded places to experience genuine locations and views of the rooftops. There are some places with really good Turkish food. See my photos for places I like!

Anyone who comes here needs to have good bargaining skills. That’s the fun part of shopping here. But overall there are things here you can’t buy anywhere else. We walked through and bought so many things like prayer rugs and souvenirs. They also have spices and juice shops you can get fresh juice at. Watch them juice a whole pomegranate and enjoy the freshness of the juice. You can’t find this anywhere else. I took my mom here and she loved every minute of it. She will be back, probably just to come back to the bazaar.

Some sellers don't allow photographs to be taken, but I did it anyway. The largest market in Istanbul, this is the most popular and, as a result, busiest of the bazaars. However, it felt a little artificial to me, and I feel it's lost its historical charm. Tons of vendors here sell everything from spices, sweets, gold, lamps, souvenirs, handbags, fake goods, fur coats, and much more. Prices can be haggle, but they are all overpriced as this is a tourist market. The only thing that locals will buy here is gold, which is a good price (I bought them as an investment) For a more authentic feeling, I suggest the markets outside or even the Egyptian bazaar. But still it's nice for an explore. Convenient public transportation nearby.

As I explored its bustling alleys, I encountered the genuine warmth of the sellers. But, inside of bazaar had no air, saw some sellers smoke inside.Returning recently, the bazaar's charm remained unchanged, with its array of shops offering an enchanting variety of goods. The Grand Bazaar's timeless appeal continues to beckon, promising future visits filled with exploration and discovery.

Absolutely incredible experience walking around this massive Bazaar and seeing all what Istanbul has to offer. There too so many Turkish delight stores to count so you'll never leave without at least tasting one of these treats! Highly recommend the store #78 for delights. I can't remember the name of it unfortunately but they sold us a kilogram of Turkish delights for 150 lira and they also treated us to some tea while we taste tested the different delights. There are also several stores with beautiful ceramic works of art, magnets, coasters bowls, etc. There were also SEVERAL shops with high end "name brand" clothes. Whatever you're looking for, you can find it here! Don't leave Istanbul without spending a few hours here !

It's a nice modern market, I personally like the old school original markets better but it was nice and cool inside temperature wise. People are friendly and let you taste a lot of different samples as well as help you with finding different things you are looking for. It's clean and pretty spacious. We went during the week and it wasn't so crowded. The prices are higher than elsewhere in the city but they are willing to negotiate. Overall, it's a good experience!

The famous bazaar several hundred years old. But now you go there to take pictures and savor the environment. Do not buy anything here - even with the haggling, the prices are much more than what you'd pay outside. Still a great historic place to walk around

I first came here in the year 2013. I was awestruck when I found it written: “ since 1461”. I entered and shopped so many things then. One of the sellers, in a small shop, gifted me one of his “posra”’s when I asked him to pack well the things I bought from him, as I would have to undertake a long journey back to India. Here, the sellers are so hearty. This time, I searched for him but I couldn’t as I didn’t remember his shop properly. The shops seem as wonderful as they seemed before (as far as my memory goes). The only thing that I saw different this time is that there are metal detectors in every entrance. This time also I bought souvenirs and sweets. The behavior of the seller remains the same. That’s the culture-cum-magic of grand bazaar. My sons, along with my wife, enjoyed the place very much. I wish I can come back here once more.

A sparkling shopping experience awaits you as soon as you enter Grand Bazar. From the world famous handmade carpets and kilims of Turkey, some of the most beautiful Turkish silver art, souvenirs and decorations made of copper and bronze and high quality ceramics, onyx, and leathergoods are for sale here. In the jewelers' shops you will find accessories, from antique jewelry to modern pendants.A walk through this Bazaar is a journey amidst enchanting scents of spices, dazzling colours, hypnotizing sounds, beautiful handicrafts, and of course the tempting smell of Turkish coffee. I recommend going early in the day when shopkeepers are more willing to sell and practice your bargaining skills before you are here.

A must visit tourist destination. Very vibrant, busy and colourful. The bazaar has existed for hundreds of years serving locals, but in its current form is for simply to lure tourists. Prices are significantly over inflated, but can still negotiate- but I would spend my money elsewhere. Great for pictures and usual touristy trinkets.

(Translated by Google) Hünkar Kasri has its own idyllic nature. Right next to the new mosque, the foundations behind the Eminönü sales branch, the mini mini handcraft shops still stand, preserving the old Ottoman architecture. These shops are active most of the time but can be closed from time to time. When a person passes through the street of Destiny, he instantly feels himself in a historical environment.

Istanbul, Turkey in general is beautiful and a destination everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. The Grand Bazaar is a huge tourist attraction since this Bazaar goes back hundreds of years and is legendary in the shops that sell everything for locals and foreigners alike. However, with this said, it is nice to walk through and take pics and such, but the vendors and hawkers will try to sell you overpriced items that you can get outside the Bazaar for a fraction of the cost. Especially spices, carpets, teas and trinkets. You will pay top dollar for anything you buy in the Bazaar so shop at will, if price is not a factor with you. We found a gold shop right outside the perimeter of the Bazaar that offered gold prices at about 1/4 the cost gold merchants were charging from within the Bazaar. So don't rush to spend money unless money is of nob concern for you. And if that is the case, congratulations you are very wealthy and need no advice. In short, Istanbul Turkey is a wonderful place to visit and experience and the Grand Bazaar is just one of thousands of attractions to see. Have fun!

Grand bazaar is the oldest and largest covered market in the world. It’s known to be the oldest mall in the world. It’s an amazing place to visit. There are many amazing handmade and cultural items there. Many great Turkish sweets and delights. One tip to foreign visitors is to avoid eye contact with the sellers. If you make eye contact, they’ll make you buy something. 😁 They are great at convincing you to buy by giving you great discounts. If you have hard time saying no, just keep your eyes on the items.

It's actually not what I expected. I was expecting a rather grand, high ceiling bazaar with a rustic feel. This is not. It is full of little shops which felt quite modern. It is a huge indoor market, but it feels more like a shopping centre than a market. I did get some bargains, but there are a lot of stores that sell the exact same stuff as the one next to it.

Great place to feel the ambiance of real bazaars. Bright and picturesque, with stalls full of teas, spices, turkish sweets, carpet stores, lamp stores. It is a mosaic of various colorful stores in the old tiled mazes that are stretched all over a whole neighborhood. Definitely worth seeing, but be aware buying is advised only for those who are experts in bargaining or doesn't care the prices.

Very very characteristic market! It's one of the largest and oldest market in the world; in particular it has 22 numerated entrances. There are many narrow streets with very differences products from bags to jewelries, from shoes to souvenirs. This place is always crowded and shopkeepers will always try to make you buy something!

One of the most beautiful places in Istanbul. If you’re a big fan of shopping, this is the place to be. Don’t forget to negotiate all the products you’re going to buy. Turks love to negotiate. Otherwise they will be kind of offended. Also, this place is very tourist, so expect for some people inside Grand Bazaar.

Always great to explore the area. Apparently more then 4000 shops are squeezed under one roof. It did change a lot in last 20 years. Much more sweets and spice shops and less original shops selling authentic Turkish products. But still nice to walk around feeling the wibe of trading. Stile very safe and clean and lovely to see that a lot of roof painting refurbishment has been done.

I love this vibrant place. The traders here have family histories attached to this place over centuries. True, much has been adapted to tourist tastes, but the gold and money merchants are still here among the souvenir and 'knock-off' bag sellers. The wonderful, painted halls have been well preserved, and you can turn a corner into secluded courtyards with greenery and quiet cafes. Has to be seen to be believed, although currently strangely quiet as the tourists abandon the city in droves.

One of most famous visited places in Istanbul. Yet consider one of the best place to experience locals. This is consider tourist bazaar and one of the tourism places yet full of locals too. With 4000 shops here... You will absolutely can waste your time for more than 3 hours to explore at almost everything. From spices to jewellery, fabrics, souvenirs, restaurants and home decorations all are here. Easy excess by public transportation. Know which gate you are going in from as it could be a bit confusing. Money changer and machine at convenient both outside and inside this place. Most of the shops offered same products but different quality and prices. Try your best bargain technique here to get the best. As this is tourist place and with too many people do extra care of your belonging.

A very busy place! Bought some spices, souvenirs, jewelry. Definitely bargain! The prices they say is usually 3x times more that what they agree for final price. So put on your bargaining hat and enjoy the shops! You will mostly be welcomed with Turkish tea in most of the places! It's a huge place and it's very easy to get lost inside the market or keep track of your time!

Such an experience! We were expecting an outside bazaar but it is actually under cover and mostly all shops/huts rather than stands within. Really great place to shop for authentic Turkish souvenirs or fake designer bags! They really has it all, they had an area for gold and silver, bed sheets, nightwear, footwear, and for real leather etc etc. could get lost for hours!

This has to get 4 stars due the sheer size of it and and abundance of produce on offer. Haggle like you never haggled before. I was here 15 years and it was hell. However all the sellers are consumed by mobile phones these days so you can escape with ease.

Grand bazaar was a great place for shopping. I could have spent hours there! I went there on a city tour. So many things to see. So many shops. Lots of outdoor shops as well. Also love learning the history behind the bazaar. The architecture was fascinating. Make sure when you go here you have enough time to bargain! Such a fun place to be. Although it is busy and can be overwhelming as they literally have Everything!! 😝 it’s a paradise for a shopaholic. I would visit again!

A Huge market that everybody MUST visit, and you will sure get lost inside it! It’s a beautiful place, you can literally spend days in this Bazaar and I don't think you will get enough of it. It's a big market unlike any other. You can find anything here. There are lots of jewelry choices, gold, silver and diamond. In this place you can find everything; clothes, shoes, bags, antique, spices, sweet, etc. You will find the souvenirs to bring home and gifts to your friends. It’s cheap but you have to bargain. It's an eye full and you will never see anything like it anywhere else. There are a lot of places to rest as well. Highly recommended!

Popular turistic point and definitely 'must see' location when visiting Istanbul! Be prepared, the place is crowded and loud, but also alive and colorful! Turkish sellers are the best, and you'll learn more about it here! They'll be calling you inside and they'll try to make a deal about the products in every way (there's no chance you'll exit their shop without buying). Don't be shy to haggle about the price, because otherwise, you exit the shop with the product you'll definitely find somewhere else much cheaper!

(Translated by Google) Another heritage of the magnificent structures from the Ottoman period that bear the traces of the past to the present day ... Yeni Mosque Hünkar Pavilion. It is a structure that many of us have gone through many times without realizing it in the rush of the day. Mother-of-pearl inlay doors, colorful stained glass windows, walls decorated with Iznik tiles ... All of them are valuable and special. As I mentioned above, this is a building that many Istanbulites may have passed before. It is located in Eminönü, on the "Banks Street", opposite the İşbank Museum, during Eminönü's historic New Mosque. A long steep stony welcomes you at the entrance, which looks like two floors from the outside. When we enter this magnificent building that reflects the traces of the 17th century Ottoman Architecture, we meet us with a stony that is generally used as an exhibition space. The end of the stony, which continues as a slight slope, opens to the living area. You start to feel the smell of history behind the kundekari door with mother of pearl inlay. You are fascinated with valuable Iznik tiles and verses covered with verses, stained glass windows, flooring, cedars, and engravings on the walls of the blue. In this building, which has three rooms, the most magnificent is the Head Room. This room, which is right in front of you at the entrance, is decorated with the belongings of the period. The room, in which the wooden carved ceiling is decorated with magnificent carvings, is covered with Iznik tiles with verses on it. The tiles covered in the rooms have added a different beauty to the architecture. The end of the “L” shaped hall opens to the Valide Sultan Circle. There is also a toilet and a bathroom in the corridor next to the Head Room. The ewers, clogs and candlesticks reflecting the traces of the period adorn the bathroom (bathhouse) section. The Hünkar Pavilion was built in the 17th century by the grandson of Suleiman the Magnificent, the wife of the 3rd Murat, Safiye Sultan. The purpose of the pavilion is to rest, worship and stay before and after prayer, especially on special days and nights, such as oil lamps, when the Sultan and his family come to the New Mosque for worship. For this reason, a transition was given to the New Mosque Complex from Yapı. Today, when we look at the building from the outside, the connection between the Yeni Mosque can be seen. The restoration work initiated by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in 2004 has been completed and renewed in 4 years, and awaits its visitors as a museum. Today, the stony part of the pavilion hosts different exhibitions on the second Thursday of each month. Yeni Mosque Hünkar Pavilion has also received the 2010 Europe Nostra (Protection of the European Union Cultural Heritage) award. At the same time, as a little advice, I suggest you to visit the historical İş Bank building, which is located across the street, which serves as İşbank Museum today. Moreover, at İşbank Museum, it provides free service to you, its visitors. It`s Grand indeed. Ancient. If you love history - it`s a place for you. You can easily imagine how things were centuries ago. Impressive architecture. If you have a feeling that you already know it all and you have once or twice visited it before, then I`d urge you to reconsider and come to see it again. It is an immense space that can offer you everything: food, spices, jewellery, china, leather goods, amazingly beautiful souvenirs. It`s covered, so if the weather outside is not pleasing you - come here. A fantastic place to see Turkey in all its colours, take pics, meet people, enjoy the bargain process...

The bazaar is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks. Dating back to the 15th century, it’s a maze of over 4,000 shops and stalls selling everything from traditional Turkish handicrafts to the latest fashions. You can find almost anything under the sun in the Grand Bazaar — from the finest silk to the biggest selection of traditional Turkish shoes. It’s also home to some of the best small shops in town, where you can discover unique Turkish treasures. Istanbul is one of the greatest cities in the world, and the Grand Bazaar is the best place to get a sense of the city's exotic past. Stretching for blocks, the bazaar is a maze of shops, each one offering a unique selection of merchandise. You can find almost anything in the bazaar, from traditional Turkish handicrafts to the latest fashions straight off the catwalk. And because it's such a labyrinth, the bazaar also offers a fascinating glimpse into how people shopped in the past.

Wow what a place... Over 4,000 shops! It's a maze. Easy to get lost. Bring a map or know which entrance you are coming in. There are 21 of them. Spices, purses, teas, scarves, jackets, gold, silver, dishes and so much more. A must see when in Istanbul Turkey.

A must visit when in Istanbul, NOT necessarily to buy, but to see and feel the athmosphere. A huge tourist attraction, so it is normal to expect to pay higher price. BARGAIN hard and be ready to walk away.

Amazing place, beautiful and well worth the visit. But you definitely need a thick skin and haggling skills. Not for the faint hearted! Do some research beforehand if you have something in mind to buy, so you know what's a reasonable price. Things can be cheaper on the Asia side which is only a ferry ride away.

Indeed a labyrinth of shops where you can buy literally anything related to the Turkish culture. It’s busy but it’s fun. Remember to bring currency in cash and to have fun with some healthy bargaining. Most shopkeepers know English which is good. A good place to get lost within.

Prepare to be engulfed when traversing this wonderful complex of 60+ alleys, 22 entrances and thousands of shops! As someone who generally doesn't enjoy shopping, the experience is wonderful! It was a feast to all my senses! You'll be approached by courteous vendors, most of whom speak more than 1 language, get sweet-talked or offered tea while you chat or browse through their products. It's generally clean and safe however practice caution and common sense as you would in any crowded public place. If you intend to shop, it's best to have an idea of what you want and spend some time haggling with the vendors.

Its once in a lifetime kind of experience to visit grand bazaar with all the history and beautiful architecture it has. But don’t buy anything from there it’s mostly overpriced and you’ve to haggle with the shopkeepers. It’s only good if you wanna buy some souvenirs etc but do bargain before buying. Our overall experience was okay we felt this was the only place in Istanbul that was overhyped.

A big variety of products, awesome atmosphere and authentic interior design from the Ottoman period. It’s an experience one cannot forget, bargaining for products and finding staff that knows a little bit of every language in order to make friends with all clients. Unfortunately, i spent so much time around the shops that the only photos I took were at the end when almost all shops were already closed. Recommend it.

Huge place where you can buy most anything. Many vendors will ship to your home...especially the larger items. There are washrooms inside, although direction signs are few and far between. Easily spend 8 hours here. Entrances are numbered...pay attention to which one you came in. Had good luck following others in our party via shared locations on Google maps. This helped also in navigating back to where we came in.

Now this is the place where you can lose yourself in. Once in, you would spend hours and hours walking, shopping and enjoying its magical atmosphere. 99.9% of shop owners are friendly & helpful, some lovely Turkish temper but the one you just love :) Been there 3 times, each time we discover new things, new shops and guess what.. we realised we only saw about 20% of the bazaar. It's one of the must-visit places in Istanbul.

A must see. It is definitely really pretty on the inside and well preserved. Don’t forget to bargain before buying, always push for more! The prices are a little higher since it is a tourist attraction. They are so many shops and if you are looking for something visit several before deciding. If you are planning to buy something going with a Turkish friend is always a plus. It is very easy to get lost in. The antique bazaar part is especially so pretty.

Definitely one of the places to visit while in Istanbul. Yes, it’s touristy and expensive. (You can find the same items just a block or so over for much less money. But the area is filled with life and interesting sights. Be ready for merchants to stop and do the heavy sales routine. But it’s all part of the fun.

Nice place to go for shopping, its large and big market that has all the replica of brands, and touristic item’s souvenirs, their prices are affordable but you should bargain for the best price, the place is crowded with tourists so better to go withe guide or Turkish speakers to avoid price swindlers. It closes at 7pm so better time to visit is in the morning early afternoon. This place is bear to grand bazaar and Suleymania mosque which you can take it by walk.

Very interesting. A lot of vendors. All pulling you into the shops. Always remember to haggle. Also don’t buy from the shops at or near the entrance as often the same things towards the centre of the bazaar will be cheaper. The atmosphere is fantastic but don’t expect any bargains.

20 Jan 2024: We visited during a rainy winter Saturday afternoon. Despite the rain, the place was crowded as expected. As we entered through the guarded entrance, I was mesmerized by the bright, glittering lights emanating from the countless shops housed in a grand, high-domed ceiling, a truly magnificent sight. However, after the initial surprise wore off, I found that the products in the shops were quite repetitive. Not being a fan of bargaining for deals, I left without making a purchase, but I did take away the awe-inspiring experience of exploring the centuries-old labyrinth. Definitely a must visit!

Smoking is prohibited 🚭 indoors in Turkey. This is indoors, but still men are smoking almost every corner 😲 Grand Bazaar, as the name suggests, is a really big shopping place. All kinds of things are on sale there, but you don't know what is real and what is fake, so you didn't make any purchases. One thing I really wonder about in Turkey is that smoking is prohibited indoors like in this place, yet men were smoking in every corner...what's the point when it's one room, if you smoke in the corridor, the smell will float and spread to other places. A historic building and nice cafes, but not my place.

Exploring the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul was an enchanting journey through time and tradition. As one of the world's oldest covered markets, this vibrant hub of culture and commerce exceeded all expectations. Wandering through its labyrinthine alleys, I discovered over 4,000 shops offering a treasure trove of Turkish delights, from aromatic spices to intricate textiles and mesmerizing jewelry. The market's architectural splendor with its domed buildings and ornate gates showcased a blend of the past and present. From exquisite Turkish carpets to traditional ceramics, the Grand Bazaar is a haven for those seeking a genuine taste of Turkish culture. A visit here is not just about shopping; it's an immersive journey into the heart of Istanbul's vibrant spirit.

(Translated by Google) History of Hünkar Pavilion The Hünkar Pavilion was built in 17th century by the grandson of Suleiman the Magnificent, Safiye Sultan, the wife of the 3rd Murat. Yeni Mosque Hünkar Pavilion also received the 2010 Europe Nostra (Protection of the European Union Cultural Heritage) award. (Translated by Google) I will pass on my humble observations, since they are the ones who wrote their history: I had the opportunity to enter the New Mosque Hünkar Pavilion due to the exhibition held at the entrance. Thanks to the exhibition, I also visited the pavilion. The mother-of-pearl inlaid doors and the decorations on the dome of the main hall, which is located in the first right section when you enter the hall, are eye-catching. It is possible to visit one of the two rooms facing the mosque side, but neither the sea side nor the windows of the mosque side are open. One of the points I liked was the windowed wall part that divides the corridor into two. The fact that the windows are two floors resembles the system of today's double glazing, and can also transfer the light to the interior by providing an aesthetic appearance. Still, the airlessness of the pavilion is a bit disturbing, as portable ventilation devices were positioned, but what a remedy ?! Maybe, those who have the opportunity to visit in winter can be considered more lucky :) (Original) Tarihçesini yazanlar olduğundan, kendi naçizâne gözlemlerimi ileteceğim: Yeni Camii Hünkâr Kasrı'na, giriş kısmında yapılan sergi sebepli girme imkânım oldu.

Every year we visit Istanbul and without fail we will always pop into the bazaar as it has culture and history literally oozing from every angle it’s simply amazing. From the architecture all the way to the stalls which varies from herbs and spices to clothing it just speaks for itself, it’s just sometimes when we visit you always get spoken to by sellers while your walking which is usually expected in environments like this as everyone is out to make money but sometimes you just want to walk and shop in peace or even engage in conversation with the stall owners but always end up having someone just stick to you like glue and make you just walk away, they should really get together and stop this as on many occasions from personal experience makes me walk away from actually buying something as they will simply just not let you go which is a big loss for the stall owner. They should really try and find a resolution for this as I am sure I am not the only one that gets irritated by this.

I recommend it to all travelers, but I advise you to look around, because in the shops outside the walls, you can buy the same product for a fraction of it! For half or a third! It is often misleading for the first dear seller ...

Grand Bazaar is one of the iconic landmark in Istanbul. It's a huge single storied shopping mall, which was the first and largest covered shopping center in the world. It consists of 61 streets and about 4000 shops. Its famous for different types of Turkish laps, carpets, spices, soaps, porcupine items, bags, etc. But, the prices are comparatively higher than Spice Bazaar and shopes beside the market. However, it's a must have shopping experience while you are in Istanbul. And, bargain is must.

Been here a couple of times. The place is looking magical and you can find a lot of interesting stuff here to buy. Some sellers will try to scam you so be aware of that and allways search for the same item in different shops and compare the prices. For example I bought a shirt for 5 EUR and for the same shirt another seller wanted 30 EUR.

This indoor market is centuries old but is maintained perfectly and looks so darn amazing from the inside. I absolutely loved the look of the shops and ceiling and the floor. It all looked fresh with old architecture style. Products are overpriced which is understandable given the attraction of the tourist.

TheGrand Bazaar of Istanbul is like Aladdin’s Cave… you can find anything and everything there. I have never seen so much gold, diamonds, silk carpets, silver… You can get lost very easily as you wonder around passages. It is a place you must visit if you come to İstanbul.

Well this bazaar is really big. You can get lost 😅 it is really amazing. Some shops' owner will offer some free tea but prices are burning 🔥🔥 Be careful to what to buy. If you are good at bargaining then you must bargain with the seller to reduce the price 3 or 4 times so that you may have a reasonable price

I knew it was the largest and busiest Bazaar in Turkey and I still wasn’t prepared for the sheer number of people! I also assumed it would be more open and outdoors but it’s all indoors. There are so many vendors and a LOT selling the same item competing for your business. As a result the sellers can become quiet pushy.

Do some shopping, see and enjoy. Never accept the first price, offer what you want to pay, stick to your guns and you will get your price. Wonderfull great mall with friendly people and beautiful things, make some time for this, go on spoil yourself you deserve it!

Very expensive especially if you're a tourist, they make up the prices depending where you're from like a waistcoat for £165, even in UK it's not that expensive, ridiculous prices for tourist. But the building itself is worth the walk around, stunning architecture and very large in size. Worth a visit but the aware of prices of things.

Love the grand bazaar! It’s a must see place when visiting Istanbul. Here are my tips if you are a first timer: 1. Plan to spend 6 hours at least browsing 2. Eat before you go because food is on the pricey side at the bazaar. 3. Don’t be tempted to buy the first thing you see…the best stuff is in the above ground or indoor showrooms. 4. Negotiating/haggling is recommended otherwise you will overpay. Case in point, I saw a bag I wanted in 3 different stalls and was told a range of prices from 7,000-9,500 lira. I paid 5,000. 5. Don’t be afraid to walk away if the salesperson is too pushy. 6. You will likely be offered tea or water by the shop owners. It’s free and accepting it doesn’t obligate you to buy anything. 7. Most shops accept credit cards but they may try to discourage you from paying by card. Paying in cash will usually get you a slightly better price. 8. The bazaar closes around 7pm and it’s closed all day on Sunday.

A tourist staple - you must visit this bazaar at least once. As you walk through it seems to never end. There is quite a bit of repetition but nonetheless really amazing to see. We found that their prices were generally a bit higher than shops outside of the bazaar - perhaps because you’re expected to bargain quite significantly.

I liked it but be aware there is so much difference in prices for the same item between a shop and another. Always bargain before buying! I saw a jacked for 1600 TL (around 55 $) after bargaining on the price he offered to give a discount for 100 TL Same jacket in another shop was for 2400 TL. After bargaining he removed 1000TL. So i boght it for 1400 TL

I love old souks and bazar. The vibrant colors and the energetic environment are always a treat for me. My first time to visit was 15 years ago, I remember buying a nice scarf at a shop right by the entrance and paying asking price. Few shops down the line, I found the exact same one for half the price! This time around, i knew better how to navigate my way and to set my expectations while shopping. So bottom line: haggle and go deeper (not at the entrance/exit) exploring the shops. It’s just a lot of fun!

Some of the sellers try to rip off tourists. Know the prices and that most of the goods are counterfeit. Offer about 10-30% the initial asking price.

The shops seem to have the same inventory. Not much uniqueness. The place is basically a maze, so tiresome to keep track where you are. Also the vedors try to get too much money. You have to really haggle in order to get a good price. Better go Mahmud Pasha market, much better experience.

Such a nice atmosphere, a must see in Istanbul. Really authentic elements of turkish culture. You should always bargain before you buy anything though.

Fun experience and a must - do in Turkey. Be prepared to haggle, and don’t be afraid to get off the main thoroughfares (which sell jewellery) to the side alleys which sell more interesting bric-à-brac. Top tip - take cash and don’t take your cards so you’re not tempted to overspend - as I did ?

Don't expect the unexpected. Rugs, 'tasteful' jewellery, mostly conservative-end designer fakes, sweets. i went for bling, designer trash, and fluorescent leather: but its more to the moderate Arab taste..."Rolexy" sorts of stuff if you're into that. Not recent fashion. Also its not zoned so conveniently so expect to walk around a long time to be able to compare similar wares. Overall I enjoyed looking but didn't see anything excitingly fancy or brilliantly ostentatious.

One of the most iconic places of Istanbul, and it's definitely worth the visit. Make sure to look and ask around before you make a purchase because prices vary depending on the seller (if you're planning on making a purchase). Also make sure to bargain when purchasing accessories, and apparel. I can't stress that enough, please bargain!

The 15th Century building built to house the Grand Bazaar is still in active use. The hawkers and traders also have roots going back centuries. So many wonderful things to look at and try. This is unmissable Istanbul. Of course, haggle the prices, but enjoy it! Take your time, be polite, you will get a good price and friendly social contact with the trader as well. This was my second visit. Normally, it is a sea of people and you must either go with the flow or become frustrated! With coronavirus, it is transformed. Not good for the Bazaar but very good for anyone interested in the building and space to see goods on sale.

World's largest and oldest covered market is the Almighty Grand Bazaar. These are the two doors close to each other opens to Beyazid Square and Old Book Bazaar. You might see the inside. It is a small copy of Istanbul, it contains everything. I mean "everything". Chaotic and poetic like Istanbul. You want to runaway from people and crowd but you are also dying to be there. One word: Magical.

A very fascinating bazaar where you can literally find what you want ...from jewelry to food, spices, clothes and the list goes on. Be prepared to negotiate and be amazed how you can by good quality clothes at good prices, just don't be rude and salute, a smile and happy attitude can do wonders here. Inside you can spend hours. You'll also find restaurants and snack places, just careful to pay and ask for receipt, you might end up leaving the table and being yelled at for ''not paying'' ...clever trick to make you pay twice. The bazaar can be crowded so watch for your belongings and don't show off with fancy stuff on you.

Very beautiful traditional bazar. You need lot of bargaining skills to shop from here. Mostly shopkeepers will tell the price 3 to 4 times higher, depending upon your nationality. But few are very honest and they will tell you very reasonable price. Inside is cool and clean.

  • 5/5 Marco A. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing! The most beautiful market I ever seen! I love the fact that such massive place is so clean and organized! It's a shame that allot of sellers are extremely insistent to the point they make you feel uncomfortable. But it is still worth the visit.

Amazing place to shop. Nightmare to walk around if you don't know the place. You can get lost for sure! But then again, I love getting lost. Use your bargaining skills here.

It's always interesting to discover such a place full of history and intercultural mixes. I really liked all the modern and antique stuff at this same place. In addition when it's raining... It's covered 😉

A beautiful place within the city center, probably the most famous building after the Hagia. It consists of many corridors full of people selling you food, clothes, jewellery.. The think I didn't like is the smell. There is too much spices that mix with the food and perfumes. If you are sensitive, I suggest to avoid it. But the merchants spirits are amazing. So much energy day by day. Don't forget to buy some baklava!

  • 4/5 Yewei Z. 2 years ago on Google
It's a must-seen. It's huge and has very special atmosphere there. But I won't shop too much there, because of the price and also I'm not so good at bargaining.

Fun place to shop and people watch. Very crowded. Priced are cheaper on neighborhoods around Bazaar..

  • 5/5 Usman A. 2 years ago on Google
Timeless classic, consider your trip incomplete if you don’t go to the bazaar as a tourist. And buy everything here, don’t assume you’ll get better or cheaper in town. I made that mistake and I couldn’t go back because of time

It is a must visit when you are in Istanbul but prepare to be approached by every storekeeper. If you don't want to buy anything and just browse, you can politely say no and they will leave you alone. I found their greetings quite funny! A lot of stores selling fake branded items but if you walk through the quieter alleys, you will find some nice shops and cafes.

  • 4/5 Amirabbas k. 2 years ago on Google
A unique experience, however after 30 minutes you feel like, every store is a replicate of another store that you just passed! over all a great atmosphere!

Lots of shops, good for the experience. But not the best place to actually shop. All shops have the same things. Really expensive too, have to waste so much time haggling to get a fair price. Worth the experience, but Istanbul has other better places to actually buy things.

Istanbul offers the best tourist experience. Like, what’s not to like? Turkish coffee. Turkish delight. Turkish BBQ. Turkish hookahs. Turkish bath. Grand Bazaar is an exquisite experiences. Many shops give unlimited samples to taste. And there are many jewelry store- gold is so shiny that my eyes were going blind. I particularly like this lanterns and lamps- those are arts.

  • 5/5 Norman M. 2 years ago on Google
I love to bargain and the Grand Bazaar is a great place to shop for tourists. Keep in mind that you really have to have some good haggling skills here which is what I live for. I found the quality of the knock-offs to be much better than some of the other markets around Istanbul, but that also means they are a little more expensive than the street markets. I would also have a map handle as the Bazaar is incredibly large and it is very easy to get lost.

2 years ago on Google
Large bazaar with different kind of teas, souvenirs. The price depends on tourists, can be high or with little deal low. Grand bazaar is in the good location with popular sacred places!

  • 3/5 Marius F. 2 years ago on Google
Historic indoor market with a wide variety of vendors offering practically anything you could possibly think of. There's a lot of leather, cotton, gold, Turkish delights, and other small trinkets to choose from. You'll need to negotiate hard ( and I mean a lot ). Not all of the merchants here are fluent in English.

  • 4/5 Muhammet Faysal S. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing place for Shopping, there are approx 4000 shops and with different varieties including Gold, antiques, clothes and showpiece for decoration etc. Worth visiting this place and please please negotiate and bargain because when they see foreigners they jump there prices exorbitantly sometimes up to 3x and even 4x. Please is lovery and refreshing but always crowded ad usually.

A must visit place if you are in Istanbul. You can find so many types of things here like bags, clothes, shoes, accessories, carpets, home decoration items, turkish delights and much more. But be careful because there are so many fake items too in this market. Plus don't forget to bargain with the shopkeepers. Overall, a great tourist place, full of colors.

  • 4/5 Omar A. 2 years ago on Google
A very nice and traditional place to visit and look around and explore, most of the stuff are traditional food, accessories, handmade box's , rags , jewelry and much more. It's good to explore more shops before buying as you might find the same things but a bit cheaper. Overall, its recommended :)

  • 5/5 Iván M. 2 years ago on Google
Be prepared to bargain loudly when visiting! This is the best place to buy high-quality Turkish crafts and products without leaving the heart of Istanbul. Prices are certainly higher than in other stores in the area, and salespeople speak in a lot of languages. You should not hesitate to ask for a LARGE discount if you're buying several products from the same vendor.

  • 4/5 Arya R. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing place full of life and excitement! You can find tons of stuff here but be ready to haggle hard, everyone starts their prices high. Even if you are not looking to shop it’s worth roaming around this wonderful fever dream.

  • 4/5 Samantha Bacchus M. 1 year ago on Google
Great, busy market place, what a beautiful space! I love the marble floors, and the hilly indoors, and the way the drains run to take away the filth back in ancient times. What a well thought out covered market. Loads of shops and stores and super organized. Silver alleys and gold lanes, children's clothes and shoes, men's attire, luggage, and spices and pots and pans and those gorgeous teacups sets and so much more. Love it! Con: many doors to enter and exit, many alley ways and one can get turned about quite easily and end up exiting to place not on the map:-) Be diligent with your locations.

  • 5/5 Ryan M. 1 year ago on Google
Don't get lost! This place is a huge maze but there's something wonderful and delicious around every corner. Looking for genuine imitation swag? They got you covered! Make sure you haggle down the prices or you WILL over pay!

  • 5/5 Stephen A. 1 year ago on Google
Always a fun spot to visit when in town. Don’t hesitate to negotiate as you will certainly be able to get 20% off most items at a minimum if you try. Vibrant, safe and enigmatic of the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, my recommendation is to pick an entrance and make your way across the Bazaar in your own time (don’t feel rushed or think you need to stop for persistent salesmen). Finally, the spice bazaar is also round the corner (10-15 min walk) and definitely worth stopping by for a slightly different ambience.

The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is an enchanting labyrinth that beckons visitors with its vibrant energy and rich tapestry of sights, sounds, and aromas. Stepping into this bustling marketplace is like entering a bustling world of commerce and culture. As you navigate through its narrow alleys, you'll find yourself immersed in a treasure trove of exquisite Turkish rugs, shimmering jewelry, intricate ceramics, and an array of unique handicrafts. The prices can be quite steep due to its popularity among tourists, earning it a four-star rating. However, the experience of haggling with passionate shopkeepers and discovering one-of-a-kind souvenirs is worth the visit. So dive into the vibrant chaos, let your senses guide you, and prepare to be captivated by the Grand Bazaar's authentic ambiance and rich heritage

Beautiful place selling tons of goods. Heavily crowded at noon. Be careful of the sellers who try to extort as much money as they can. Didn't buy anything, just went for a stroll for the experience. They shouldn't allow smoking in the building, makes it so much uncomfortable and just ruins the beauty of the place.

This bazaar is a must visit. Its colorful. It has lots of shops. Very good quality stuff. Things are Expensive here but because they are of good quality. There are 400 shops. The market is from the ottoman era. I absolutely love the variety of things here and the quality

  • 5/5 Adrian Ionut B. 1 year ago on Google
Believe the hype. If you’ve never visited this bazaar before, you’re in for a treat. It’s just and experience you must not miss while you’re in Istanbul. All the shops, the colors, the people, how they greet you, how they are negotiating with you…it’s all an experience, believe me. Me and my wife bought a few stuff from there BUT we negotiated A LOT for everything :)) You have to, trust me. The prices there are for tourists and it’s an experience by itself to bargain with them :) We dropped the prices more than 50-60 % from what they asked, so do the math. If you’re not the type to negotiate, just visit the Grand Bazaar for the experience and buy stuff from the other millions of shops that are all around Istanbul (PS: even there you can negotiate 😀) I loved it and for sure I will visit again.

If you like walking walking walking and walking... checking tones of products with touristic prices ... this us the place. 30.000 m2 or 60 big full covered streets ... but it doesn't come cheap . You can negotiate the price and y can be harsh with reducing prices

  • 5/5 Vilma V. 9 months ago on Google
One of the main attractions in Istanbul. As most of tourists places some items are overpriced. Souvenirs can be purchased at better prices outside the grand bazaar. I recommend visit early in the morning as it gets very crowded.

  • 3/5 Jubs 9 months ago on Google
As fancy and attractive this highly popular bazaar is, it's a tourist trap. A maze scattered with elaborately intriguing, eye-catching shops and cafés that are insanely overpriced. Haggling is the norm but still feels like cheating. Go there at your own risk. Just browsing isn't an option unless you are strong-willed. Coming in and out of the bazaar entrance is another mission, as there are street sellers trying to sell perfectly packaged fake perfumes and other goods. Some shops outside the bazaar are better for comparing prices with. Great for a one off experience. Too overcrowded for our liking.

It was a fun visit especially looking at the gold filled windows. Nothing I wanted to buy but the wife bought some fabric. It sits on top of the hill so start on top and walk parallel downward. Only a few places inside for coffee and cake. They'll check you for bombs on the way in.

So much to see so much to buy. Great for spices souvenirs textile fake branded goods clothes watches gold jewelry and so much more. HUGE a place sectioned by the goods sold, will need two days if doing a lot of shopping. Get a extra bag to deposit your buys, a cabin sized luggage will set you back 600-700 TL

  • 4/5 Misbah S. 8 months ago on Google
Old and beautiful bazar with many shops selling Turkish traditional items like leather goods, silk scarves, beautiful traditional Turkish lamps, hand painted bowls/spoons etc of ceramic and many more. Good place to buy souvenirs too. Remember to bargain to get a good deal.

  • 4/5 Chrigi H. 8 months ago on Google

I enjoyed ambling in the Grand Bazaar for 2 hours today. Bargaining is a must! There were mostly jewelries, souvenirs, bags and accessories, and clothes. It is air conditioned and definitely worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Roxana S. 8 months ago on Google
Very large and colourful place, full of all sorts of items to buy: from golden/silver jewelry to clothes, purses, shoes. It is a very crowded market so you might want to pay attention to pickpockets. Some prices are not listed and it’ s a must for you to bargain if you want to buy something.

  • 5/5 Borana B. 7 months ago on Google
very populated place but it was something we expected. the market is divided by gates and each one had a specific theme. very high prices for tourists. food is many times better on the street than in restaurants. Turkish sweets must be tried

The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul Turkey is worth the visit for the visual feast it provides. And maybe you will find a few things that catch your eye and will make a great souvenir. Just be prepared to haggle your pants off, because it is obviously geared towards tourists, and the prices usually start much higher than what it's worth. Regardless I would recommend going just for the experience of seeing the huge variety of goods for sale, and the way some of the shops are set up to show off their goods. Go. Enjoy. Have fun with haggling, and be prepared to say no thank you, and walk away if you feel like you are being taken advantage of.

Amazing awesome grand bazaar. Lots of Turkish trinkets, spices, souvenirs are sold here. Price is generally expensive, need to bargain well to get a good price. Just love this beautiful & grand bazaar. However, the place is very crowded, thus need to be wary of pickpockets.

  • 2/5 Honey A. 5 months ago on Google
Definitely a place to ripoff foreigners. Most prices were explained in dollars and euros as if it’s the currency of the country. Nice atmosphere tho. The place definitely worth the visit. It’s truly beautiful

Very busy place, closing at 7pm, keep in mind. Good vibe am around, lots of nice shops but there are better places to shop around, specially on the Asia side. It's a must while in Istanbul as the atmosphere it's nice, you can easily get lost there as its soo large. Could get very busy specially Saturday.

  • 3/5 Saqib S. 4 months ago on Google
The grander and pricier of the bazaars. We had little opportunity to explore it as the bazaar closes at 8, unlike the 10pm mentioned on Google. Still, they had an ample variety of artifacts, carpets, delights and spices. However, their asking prices are much higher, at times 5-8x the prices we got quoted in spice Bazaar or the Sultanahmet area shops. So be ready for really hard bargaining to get any decent deals.

  • 4/5 Aleksandar B. 5 months ago on Google
Busy place as expected, lovely to spend some time there. I wished the owners and workers do not stand in front of all shops like gatekeepers - seems it does not attract tourists at all (though I understand it's part of tradition and culture).

  • 5/5 Adventure J. 4 months ago on Google
Was nice to explore this old beautiful structure and the shops. Be careful when bargaining. Slash the price by 70% and double check you know exactly what the price is in your own currency. Do a quick calculation. If it's too much, just walk away.

  • 5/5 Tausif B. 4 months ago on Google
Its huge and has so many shops. Prices are too high for replicas. Bargain margins would be 5 to 8 times the asking price. Lots of tourist traps in general... But if you are not buying stuff and just visiting as a tourist attraction, it is definitely a must.

  • 3/5 Paul d B. 4 months ago on Google
This place is just huge and easy to get lost in also because most of the stuff sold is sold by just about everyone. Millions of carpets, sweets, lamps, fake scarves and shoes etc. No price tags anywhere so you have to haggle, that plus it being just too busy and the shop owners bordering on aggression sometimes makes it not a very appealing place.

  • 3/5 joyson m. 4 months ago on Google
The Grand Bazaar is expansive, requiring more than half a day to explore fully. It offers a diverse range of products, including unique souvenirs, Turkish tea sets, bags, and clothing. While the multitude of shops is appealing, the challenge lies in high prices, necessitating negotiation skills and the willingness to walk away if the bargaining is unsuccessful.

  • 3/5 Wilhelm V. 3 months ago on Google New
Nice place to come visit and see all the shops. Everything inside here is in Euros, so not spending friendly for South African currency. We ended up buying from shops outside which is in Turkish Lira and there are a lot of small shopping malls.

  • 3/5 Lomè G. 4 months ago on Google
Beautiful and historical place. The building is amazing. The atmosphere is the one of a modern mall, with the addition of vendors that want to drag you in every shop trying to sell you something by pretending to not wanting selling you anything. Already by the mosque you find people who want to give you direction to the Bazar, as if you can't walk straight on your own 🤦🏾‍♀️ and they ask you what you want to buy, so that they can try to drag you to some uncle/brother/father or family shop. Very annoying.
