Dining at No 19 is a joy! When we walked in, we were greeted by a nice host who walked us through all of their main dish and appetizer options for the evening. The hardest decision was choosing what we wanted! Every dish tasted better than the next. My personal favorites were the meat stuffed eggplant and the yogurt. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Istanbul!

The place is just superb: discreetly located in Çukurcuma on the quiet street close enough to everything the tourists seek and far enough to escape from people and treat yourself with some authentic Turkish food. It’s not going to be the food you can find around the city, but home-style and so very delicious dishes mostly made from vegetables. You will experience outstanding hospitality and feel like you are dining with friends rather than in the restaurant. The must in Istanbul.

A rare pleasure of a place, absolutely not to be missed. This is a restaurant with soul, like dining at home: walk in and the hostess greets you like an old friend. The decor is tasteful but very interesting if you take a close look, solid wooden tables, lots of ceramic pieces, antique but not antiquated. The mood is relaxed and comfortable. You can be at ease. The food is billed as simple, home style Turkish cuisine, and it certainly delivers on that. You choose one main and two sides from the dishes on display at the counter. (Though if the chef signs off you can pick four smaller side portions - it is hard to decide!) The majority of their food is vegetarian, a pleasure for me. Yet this is not just home cooking, many dishes have a special twist. Take the orange puppy dish pictured: it is a version of the classic mezze of carrot in yogurt. But the chef has cooked this dish with fresh orange juice. From the description, I wasn’t sure what it would taste like, but took the hostess’s advice to choose it. I am so glad I did. I can honestly say it is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten, and I have been across the world and sampled many many cuisines. From hospitality to atmosphere to taste, No19 has it all. It will be one of my first stops the next time I am in İstanbul.

This is the best restaurant we've eaten at while in Istanbul. Fresh. Home made. Delicious. I love that you can see the menu presented before you. Family style. Mostly vegetarian too! Friendly service, great music. I'm only here another few days and I'm ready to return to this restaurant for more delicious home cooked food. If you are in Istanbul for any reason, make sure you come and earn here!!

Lovely little place with a good variety of vegan foods. The staff is very friendly. Ordered a delicious spinach tomato legume main course, a side of fried battered zucchini with dill, a side of kidney beans spring onion red peppers and dill, and a third side consisting of couscous beetroot dill. More dill please! 😍 stuffed and happy.

BIG RECOMMENDATION! This was my favorite restaurant in Istanbul. They have nice vegan and vegetarian options. The food is freshly made, the wine is great and the place has just a cozy vibe. The owner of the restaurant is also such a kind woman too. They also have lovely ceramics.

The food here was perfect. I've actually been here twice, once for amazing food, and the second for a cooking lesson and meal. I've eaten all over Istanbul, from high end food to street food, and No. 19 Dining has been the best food I've eaten anywhere here. Seriously. I am a chef and I have a food review Insta, Nicky.Kitchen and I can happily say, this would be rated as my number 1 food experience, and the number 1 must do in Istanbul. The owner deserves more stars than 5. This is cooking from the heart and I hope that her little restaurant/ ceramics show room thrive! Not to miss: the couscous and beetroot salad.

Nice and cosy place. Friendly stuff. Offering just a few (but enough!) dishes. Food is fresh and handmade and was very good. You have the choice between vegan, vegetarian and meat stuff. We had 3 starters and two main dishes and two glasses of wine. Price (30€) was totally okay. Recommended! :)

“I cook what I enjoy to cook these days” - this is how my experience here started. Aylin, who owns this place, offers tasty and simple (well, that is nothing simple about it but it sure looks like it) food, she is serving, she is cooking and she speaks English (good to have someone who give you all details about your food and not general info because of a language barrier). Well, my honest story is that I had a hangover that day and not any food works in days like this. Everything that I tried in #19 dining was great and every flavor was perfect. That was my comforting food and now this place is my togo cafe (not only hangover days) in Istanbul. Highly recommend everyone who wants to have great food in a quiet place. PS great playlist there as well, btw!

Quaint lovely restaurant that looks like a cafe and art studio from the street. I believe they do all three actually :) you can buy elegant accessories and pottery here. If you’re looking for a clean and cozy local dining experience, come here! The meals are home cooked, vegan and non-vegan friendly, and of high quality. The server was very attentive and the lady who introduced the food to us was lively and spoke perfect English. She also offers Turkish cooking classes if you have 2 people to sign up together. We had a lovely time there, felt like eating at someone’s dining room :) it costed us 200 lira for everything, including a glass of wine. I recommend it if you prefer something authentic off the main walking street. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have been in Istanbul for over a week. We’ve been eaten in many places and No 19 Dining was best food experience we had. It is not a restaurant, more kind of food workplace. There are several positions you can choose and all of them is made with passion and are delicious. There is also great option for vegetarians and vegans. Definitely worth trying. 💚

Truly delicious food by very friendly people. The style is "like Turkish home cooking", but made in the most refined way, of top quality. The food will not make you feel too heavy, as there is not too much fat or salt, and the menu is not heavy on meat, though some dishes do have meat (but most are vegetarian). It instantly became one of our favourite restaurants in Istanbul!

The place was easy to find and food was very tasty. Everyone inside was helpful and kind. It was an unexpected find between all the small backstreets of Istiklal street. It is great for vegetarians too since there are options for both meals with and without meat. I was very happy and full after my food and I would surely recommend it to anyone who likes nice food and atmosphere. If you have time don’t miss this opportunity to have a memorable evening.

This lovely place gave me the best turkish cuisine experience! As a vegetarian I’m having a hard time to get a nutritious meal in Istanbul. This restaurant let me choose what I want to eat, it was a nice surprise to not have only one position that I have to take. Stuff is very friendly and make a warm welcome. I wish to come here as often as possible!

Found this lovely restaurant after leaving the busy high street. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, taking the time to explain all of the starters and mains. Very chilled atmosphere. We had 5 starters and 2 mains as recommended, having some of the specialities. Had a great time and the food was delicious! Thanks again for the hospitality

A great homely restaurant I stumbled on. Home style really is key here. Rather than choosing from a menu, you are shown through all the options set out like a family dinner on a kitchen counter. Mostly vegetarian, everything I chose was fresh and delicious. Not your typical traditional Turkish restaurant. And it was all really reasonably priced. I ate alone but I would definitely bring my wife if I was ever in Istanbul again.

Little bit pricey but definitely worth it! Food was just marvelous- like a trip back in time to childhood with mom’s food- and the staff is just too kind. Very veggie friendly place. We had artichokes, great beans in tomato sauce, green beans in a stew and so tasty stuffed aubergine.

Simply the best place I went to in Istanbul! Everything homemade and fresh, the owner speaks perfect english and explains the different dishes (even disclosed a recipe ;) Since the cold appetizers of the day are displayed on the counter, no waiting time for the dishes, which is always a plus! Atmosphere, decoration and music are great as well; international crowd and usually rather quiet (surprisingly) because located in a quiet street I guess. Must try, especially if you are staying in Cihangir

It might be the best home cooking tavern of Istanbul. Young people with fresh ideas are cooking traditional dishes in style. Very delicious dishes. The ambience of the restaurant is superb. It is far away from the touristic istiklal, providing a safe heaven to relax. Really looking forward to eat again here. Our lunch will be unforgettable here.

My new favourite place in the world! Food is fantastic, home-made food, you can taste all the natural flavours in your mouth with this real food. The personnel are friendly and welcoming, they are always paying attention in all the details. The place is small and cosy, but there are not that many tables so you don't feel it tight. Prices are too cheap for the quality in all areas you get. Very good experience!

This restaurant is a unique and experience and some of the best I’ve had! All dishes are prepared in advance- you can taste with your eyes and decide what you want from looking at all the options- allowing you to choose a dish you may not have otherwise thought to order. If you ask, the chef may allow you to sample 3 of the side dishes and 2 main dishes. The tables are communal and the dishes are antiques.

We booked the entire place for a private dinner party for 15 of us. The communication before the day, the preparation of the tables and chairs, the amazingly delicious food (all Turkish food is tasty but I’ve never had any better Turkish homemade cosy food outside this restaurant so far), the staffs friendliness, the cosy and lovely atmosphere inside, everything was perfect. We could not have made a better dinner party without their help. :) I absolutely recommend this place to anyone. It is a must-visit place if you are looking for authentic homemade Turkish food.

I wanted to find a home style Turkish restaurant for a party of 24 and my hotel manager recommended No 19. What a gem of a restaurant. I contacted the owner Aylin whilst I was still in Malaysia and she made it so easy for me: she booked the whole restaurant for my date, made menu suggestions and even wine selections. On the day itself, we walked from our hotel to this charming little restaurant in the heart of Bohemian Cihangir and was greeted by Aylin and her incredible staff. The mezes were all ready on the tables. Each one looked amazing, bursting with glorious scents and bright with colour. Service for drinks was swift and we all settled in to a delicious first course. The menu was as delicious as it was varied. There were some dishes I had never eaten before. And every one was a total success. Our main course was a delicious roast chicken which everyone agreed was a total delight. Aylin is also a ceramicist and the walls of the restaurant are stacked with her incredible mugs, cups, plates and bowls. If you're looking for a place in Istanbul for an intimate evening of good food, good service and interesting surrounds, I highly recommend No 19.

Really lovely home cooked Turkish food. The lovely lady cooks it all herself and she talks you through the options. Really nice vibe. We shared a table with some others and we got chatting which was cool. Mostly vegetarian options which is fantastic! The wine is nice too that they have. Highly recommend this place!! They are welcoming! 🙏🏼 To the beautiful waitress, I hope you make it to London one day and your dreams come true 🤩🙏🏼✨️

This was my best dining experience. The restaurant's owner has a creative method for presenting the menu. A wide range of vegan and vegetarian options available. They are very delicious! The recipes are close to local cuisines in contrast with some other vegan restaurant that try to mock meaty foods. The wine was great. The owner and the staff are super nice! The restaurant has a pleasant and beautiful decoration. It's hard to imagine that you can find such a nice place close to junk-meat food festival which is on going in the Istiklal street. Finding this restaurant in the allies of Istanbul at night kinda reminded me the film, Midnight in Paris. Outstanding!

Food is really good it's like a culinary artwork! Little bit inconvenient that you have to see what they have prepared and they might prepare something that you like to try after you finished your food! Their card machine does not work! Music was great! Location when sitting outside is not the greatest! Couscous with beats and imambayarli were my favourites!

Great food, extensive vegan and vegetarian options available. Unfortunately they don’t have eftpos or a menu, I noticed that this creates a bit of a problem when it is busy because one of the staff are constantly having to explain things to customers. I suggest that you could have handwritten signs to at least paint a picture for punters.

We really liked the place with warm reception from the lady owner. The food was average to our taste though.

I was looking for a late dinner on a Sunday night and wasn’t expecting much. Wow. The flavors and freshness of every dish blew me away. Based on the ambiance and food you can tell every detail has been tastefully planned.

We were greeted by the host of the resturant explaining that our dining experience would be "home cooked foods from the traditional women of Turkey". What we recieved was a taste and visual experience that I feel was the best of my time in Istanbul. The host offered to plate us up a selection of starters to share between two, and kindly listed off the mains for the day. With no set menu, and the options changing daily I thought this was a very intimate touch. The food and service was outstanding and the restaurant is off the main strip, so relatively quiet. It was a warm and cozy dining experience complete with the cutest sleepy Shitzu. If you are vegan, veggie, or even a meat, eater they will cater for all your needs. Most importantly if you are a lover of flavour, this is the place for you.

Tasty, fresh and a nice atmosphere. Would be helpful if they posted prices. I had 2 plates and a glass of filtered water, was 64 tl. Kinda pricey imo

You feel like you are at your auntie’s place when having your lunch or dinner there. There is no physical menu , the supernatural woman who is the owner cook variety of foods everyday and you 100% enjoy her company and the ambience of her local restaurant. Give it a try means do not miss it ..

Super authentic homemade meals, that have a "mum/nan" type feel to them, but sat in a beautiful little restaurant with boutique items for sale around you! The chef, aka mama, explained the dishes of the day perfectly in English to us and had great awareness of vegan/vegetarian needs! A great option if you want to step away from the big restaurants.

A must visit place in town. It is a small restaurant but defienlty has its style... They have variety of specialy selected turkish home cooking foods. Also they re conducting turkish home cooking workshops And most importantly the cozy environment out of the craziness of the city makes it superb and unique on top of everything.

Wonderful cafe concept. Meals made in small batches. Vegetarian options. The cafe also hosts ceramics for sale and some jewelry. It’s a beautiful place. I will come again.

This is a gem in Istanbul! Lovely place with homemade Turkish food. The concept is great, you come there to discover food! The chef introduces food and you choose your starter and the main dish!

As soon as we got in, we were warmly greeted by staff. They don’t have a set menu so after being seated a nice lady explained to us every single dish available. We had three starters and two mains. Absolutely love the whole concept and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others - but taking away one star simply because the combination we chose need more ‘kick’.

We had a private celebration here. The owner is a very kind lady who accommodated all our wishes. The staff is professional and the team prepared a fantastic dinner for us. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended.

Absolutely in love with this place 🥰 All the dishes the four of us ordered were delightful. Our Turkish friend said it tasted exactly like when cooked within his family. And the rest of us (Germany, USA, UK) simply enjoyed 😋

The best meal I had in Istanbul! This small restaurant in a side street is only a few minutes walk from taksim and istiklal kadesi but its warm friendly vibe feels a hundred miles from the busy tourist-filled restaurants in the area. It’s a lokanta which means that the dishes are prepared and presented on the counter rather than being cooked to order. This means you can see what you will eat before ordering. There were 8 main courses and a dozen or so started when I visited, and the quality was such that I had a difficult time choosing. Luckily it’s possible to get a mixed plate of starters so you can choose a selection. The quality and variety of the dishes was impressive and everything was delicious. Traditional recipes and quality ingredients, including several vegan options. No19dining will be added to my list and I will be back here soon.

😠 This place is extremely overrated, not even worth it, the food is salty like it’s out of the ocean, greasy and the meat quality is very poor, speed of service and restaurant are acceptable but the food and value for money are out of the window. They have either fatty meat or okay meat with liver pie...
