Made a reservation here due to the good reviews. The restaurant didn’t live up to our expectations. Nice tranquil setting with decent food (though much higher prices than most of the other restaurants we ate at in Istanbul), but very poor and unhelpful service. We asked the waiter what he recommended and he couldn’t give us an answer, we were pressured to order everything at once, quickly, with zero guidance on what was popular, we asked for bread and rice multiple times before it was finally delivered, and overall service was very slow. Spent 3x more than what we spent at other restaurants that we enjoyed 3x as much. Wouldn’t come back.

We attended this restaurant with a family and really liked everything there and enjoyed the food. Turkish cuisine was outstanding and fresh sea fish was really tasty. We liked that while we were waiting for the food we were immediately served complimentary fresh hot bread and Turkish tea. Atmosphere is nice and the staff is great and helpful. Special compliments to Kadir who was very friendly and helpful. He did his best to make us feel home. We came there relying on reviews in Google maps and it worked great. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

The food here is AMAZING! Delicious big portions and a whole variety to choose from. The fresh ayran is very good too. The waiters are very kind and attentive (in a good way). Definitely a must try even though it's on the expensive side (especially if going with a group). A hidden gem in Istanbul!

Another great place to dine in Istanbul. Although not obvious where it would be located, it is the Hotel restaurant. However, you do not need to necessarily be a guest to dine here. The food was absolutely excellent - from presentation to the very last details. Had the Prince's Chicken and beef kebap & it was simply amazing. The beef was so well marinated and the meat so soft & the chicken was in an amazing sauce, with apple & mushrooms. If you're looking for a nice place to dine at - this would be it. Seemed to be a lot of tourists/foreigners there as well - I guess due to the high rating and its visibility on Google Maps. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant! Food was delicious. I had pide and my husband had a steak! The steak took a little longer to come out than the pide but they did inform us that kitchen were different. The atmosphere was great, would’ve loved to enjoy this is the summer on the patio. The complimentary baklava with the tea was an unexpected surprise. Was delightful! Little difficult to find, google maps took us to the back of the hotel but we didn’t know that so had to walk around the block to find the entrance.

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Great service, kind and friendly. We’ve been there with a two years old kid and the staff helped us both with the table and food. Delicious dishes, beautiful presentation. Just to suggest something, wine list and dessert could be improved. Anyway I recommend this place to everyone! I would like to come back here again!!!

Garden 1897 Restaurant is rightly among the top restaurants in Istanbul. From the outside a bit unlikely, but from the inside beautiful in the garden. There is a great atmosphere. The food is very tasty and the portions are large. Everything is freshly prepared and arrives at the table still cooking. The quality is top. The desserts were also delicious. The service is very attentive and also gives tips on the dishes. The service always has a smile on his lips. Price-wise we are here in the normal range with just great quality. The music accompaniment in the background is very relaxing and fits the ambience.

Such a nice restaurant!! Highly recommended. Good music, AMAZING food and even a lovely cat! Gusti was so nice to us and made the experience very special! Definitely will come back here again when we in Istanbul next time😁

The food and hospitality at this restaurant is top notch. Their menu is vast with a variety of options and for a good price, which made it even more enjoyable. Our server Jino was patient and personable making our experience very special and accommodated all our dietary requirements. Ask for him when you visit and I promise you’ll have an amazing experience like we did. Our top choice for a lovely meal in Istanbul!!

During our short 4 day trip, we ended up going here twice because it was absolutely lovely. Everything was amazing from stunning flavours and atmosphere to the service. They have a wide selection of local dishes as well as international foods if you are so inclined. Don't forget to try the pottery kebab its both a visual presentation and an melt-in-your-mouth flavour filled lamb dish.

An absolutely amazing place. The food is delicious, served quickly and is not pricey for the Fatih area. You have traditional as well as international cuisine. The waiters are very hospitable and cheerful. A nice lady brought us to a good spot, one waiter brought us a heater because it was cold outside and another took a family photo for us. The atmosohere is unique and special. Everything is clean and beautiful, especially the garden. Strongly recommended for tourists and locals alike.

We came last year and decided to come back. We had the pleasure of being served by Barış. He truly went above and beyond. Food was delicious as always and the service was perfect. We had for starters the lentil soup and some hummus of course accompanied by the delicious house bread, we ordered some pasta for my son, I had the chicken kebab, my husband the stuffed sultans chicken, my brother the t bone steak, and my dad the lamb chops.Barış offered us some fruit and complimentary tea and baklava and then suggested an amazing dessert that came with some delicious strawberry ice cream. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Barış for making it an amazing dinner here in Istanbul! My family and I are forever grateful.

Amazing place to try traditional Turkish cuisine. Not your typical tourist trap in Istanbul, makes a surprising difference . The food, service and hygiene was top and all that with very reasonable prices. Our waiter Ruslan was professional and very attentive, he made us feel very special and anticipated all our needs. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city :)

First of all the service was excellent and the presentation was impeccable. The appetizers were outstanding and the soup was very good. The chicken shish was okay and the prince chickens was quite good and had a very special tasty sauce on top. All of the waiters were alert all of the time especially the guy named Kadir, he gave us everything we wanted. At the end we got a complementary Tea and baklava which was also very good. I totally recommend this place because it has a very nice atmosphere and seatings. Another thing to note is that it could be a little pricey for some people.

What can I say about this place! The reputation preceded itself which made me more eager to visit here. From the outset the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. I tried a Stuffed Chicken Breast coated in a Saffron Sauce as well as their Lamb Chops. Both were exquisite with my favourite being the Chicken. The Non- Alcoholic Moctails were a dream, one of the waiters made me a special one which was fantastic and actually better than the one the Bartender made. The setting was nice, tranquil and pleasing to the eye. Coming from London, next time I will definitely visit Garden 1897 without hesitation and recommend to others. Keep up the good work team!

If you don’t need a rooftop view, go there for great food at a reasonable price. Fast and funny service, outside seating area in a garden. Would come again!

Lovely atmosphere, amazing tastes. Easily the best experience we had in Istanbul so far. Not a place to bring baby in; there was no high chairs for babies not a changing/nursing room in the facility, even at the hotel; nonetheless friendly staff helped us how they could - they made staff room available for us to change our baby.

The place is really beautiful. Ambience is relaxing. Perfect for all types of meals. Nice place to chill out. The food we ordered were 5/5 - Chicken kebab & Lamb kebab. A bit pricey but worth it. They even served tea & baklava on the house. All staff are nice too! Will definitely go back.

EVERYONE that works here is soo nice and gives great customer service. I wish I would have found this place earlier during my Istanbul trip. The lamb was very tender and it was the best I’ve tasted in Istanbul. If you’re in Istanbul, you must eat at this restaurant.

Outstanding! Our waiter was incredible and I’m embarrassed that we did not get his name. He made an excellent connection with our daughter Olivia who is 4 which is saying a lot because she doesn’t like most people. Sometimes she doesn’t even like me. The food was on point - I had the soy sauce chicken (forgot the exact name) the chicken is chopped up almost fajita style and there are red and green peppers as well as some seriously delicious basmati rice. Fantastic. My wife had the chefs special bundle and the presentation was amazing. It is wrapped in a pita style bread that opens up to show what is inside which just happens to be some of the best beef and vegetables we had during our trip on Istanbul. Additionally my brother had the Testi-Kebab which is a pretty traditional dish in Istanbul. It’s beef or lamb cooked inside of a clay pot with many spices and vegetables. His wife had lamb medallion which came out perfect. If anyone knows about lamb, it can be very difficult to cook perfectly, but they really nailed it. Finally the kids had pizza, fries, and some soups. We also had some terrific appetizers. The atmosphere and the staff in general were really amazing and they did a great job creating one of the most memorable experiences we had during our trip. They even had an accordion player who was great and as we left our daughter Olivia began dancing and clapping to one of his songs. She loved the place too!

Everything was beyond and exceeding expectations. Every thing was PERFECT! even as small as the olives 🫒 The food was spectacular. The hospitality was out of this world. Our waiter Baris was absolutely amazing. He provided class A hospitality. It didn’t feel like a service it felt like authentic generosity and true hospitality. I highly recommend and will definitely be coming again when I’m back in town.

Nice seating inside of a hotel garden, several seatings with different options available. Food tasty, quite expensive tho. Would come again to try different dishes. Fresh bread was superb, salad would have been better with some spices/herbs. Lamb was good but have seen bigger portions for this price. Fresh juices on point.

The service was extraordinarily good, i left a big tip because all their staff was working really hard to provide all their guests with the best experience. All the food that we had was delicious. I was impressed by how they managed to make the chicken shish kebab so juicy while crispy on the outside, it was really perfect.

Great atmosphere. Professional staff and service. Tasty food. One of the best restaurants if not THE best I've visited in Istanbul. I hope I would be able to come back again before the end of my vacation in Istanbul.

We stayed nearby and came here for a late lunch. Ruslan recommended us the lamb kofta with yogurt, tomato and cheese and also their new specialties. Both were so good, tender and authentic. Service here was impeccable and friendly- even complimentary baklava and Turkish tea to finished off. Environment was relaxing as it has an outdoor garden concept. Price was reasonable as well. We came back for dinner the next evening and it was full, they were so hospitable to get us a seat within 20 minutes, highly recommended when in this part of town.

I’m vegetarian and they have vegetarian dishes. Not cheap but I liked couscous a lot, salads are good. In the end they give free tea and one baklava. I

We have been here the last 2 days for dinner. Absolutely amazing staff we had murat the first night and Jino the second night. Super friendly, helpful and the atmosphere was welcoming. Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to this area looking for a cosy bite to eat.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and so I went in with high expectations, and the restaurant definitely met and even exceeded them. The meal I ordered was prepared quickly and was top notch. The staff were very attentive, and I felt safe leaving my things and going to the bathroom. The indoor garden was beautiful and I definitely recommend sitting in it rather than inside.

Set in a hotel garden, the restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere. The food was great and staff were willing to go the extra mile. They offered gluten free options as well. We had a starter and the shoulder of lamb to share which was brilliant and more than enough for two people. Altogether it cost around 1,200 lira.

Tucked away and quiet with very friendly staff and delicious food. I had the mountanjana which had very soft and well cooked lamb pieces. The sultan stuffed chicken was also very nice with a delicately flavoured creamy saffron sauce. Staff were lovely and friendly and offered tea and baklava as we finished our meal.

I had such a lovely meal here. The location is lovely- a beautiful leafy courtyard behind the hotel. The food was gorgeous, massive portions of classic Turkish dishes. Even the Greek Salad was beautifully presented. Recommended.

We checked into Garden on the second leg of our Istanbul stay. Since this part of our stay was dedicated to relaxing and shopping, it was ideal location wise. The Grand Bazar is only 800 m from the hotel. We got upgraded to a suit, which was luxurious, with a good sized sitting area, a toilet with a luxurious bath and yes a great shower head, courteous staff, unlimited drinking water, helpful concierge service and an in-house restaurant. The buffet breakfast had good vegetarian choice, and hot omelette/poach on request. Overall our experience was very enjoyable and relaxing.

From the outside the building didnt look big but inside is very spacious. The staff are incredibly accommodating and great food! I'm a fan of their Ottoman menu and each dish is well prepared, tasted delicious 😋. A good stop for lunch!

We were a bit perplexed by the high ratings as it is in touristy area of sultanhamet and indeed based in/next to a hotel (which we’re usually off-put by), but I do have to say that the meal was all in all very quality, good service, tasty food and great atmosphere. Special shout-out to our attentive waitress Endy, who was fab and the hostess who let us upgrade tables till we were satisfied. Definitely on the pricey side (especially the wine!) but we weren’t disappointed. I can recommend the lamp chops; they came with fries that were served with a homemade spicy tomato ketchup.

A truly amazing restaurant with delicious food. The best Turkish food I have ever tasted! Not only that but the customer service is truly exceptional! Everyone smiles and are really helpful. There was a small issue with the bill however it was swiftly resolved by the manager immediately. The manager is helpful and truly doing an amazing job. I will definitely visit again whenever I visit Istanbul and will also recommend it to others to visit InshaAllah.

The food was excellent! We already expected that after we saw the 4.9 rating and the thousands of reviews. The restaurant is cozy, the interior design is beautiful and the anatolitic music on the background matches with the above. The service took the experience to a whole another level. They were really pleasant and helpful. Kadir was so nice and funny so you will be lucky if you happen to be serviced by him. There is a variety of dishes and I guarantee you will find it hard to choose what to order. So overall it is an amazing experience. Whether it is your first trip to Istanbul or not, Garden 1897 will surely not disappoint you. I totally recommend it. We are still on vacation here and it is ensured that we will make a second visit.

We had a wonderful dinner here last night! Every dish we ordered was so tasty and well priced. Our waitress, Endy, was so lovely and made our experience one to remember. We will definitely be coming back here later in the month when we return! Great food, great service & great atmosphere.

Excellent dinner on the terrace. Plenty of Ottoman or Anatolian specialties to choose from. I tried the eggplant beef kebab which was delicious after great cold mezze. Very friendly service in addition. Highly recommended!

Absolutely remarkable. Today was the second time I’ve eaten here and on both occasions I was blown away by the food and the service. I had the same waiter both times - a chap named Kadir. Incredible care and attention to detail. I ordered two starters, and both came out at the same time - meaning one would get cold while I ate the other. I didn’t really care about this, I’m a heathen. I’d happily drink swamp water, but Kadir came along and said “let me take this away and bring you a new one when you finish your soup”. This restaurant was one of the high points of my trip. I highly recommend coming here if you’re in Istanbul.

Great atmosphere, feels slightly more formal than the other surrounding restaurants, but truly at around the same price point. Asked as soon as we sat down if anyone had any allergies. Everyone spoke English and was very polite, really excellent service. Will absolutely be back when I'm visiting Istanbul again. Thanks to Kadir for his wonderful service and final meal in Istanbul!

What an elegant hidden courtyard that is a welcome respite from the busy streets around it. Kadir was an excellent and attentive waiter, providing great recommendations, when he found out I have a dairy allergy he switched out the baklava to watermelon. Without me asking, by the way. I also was feeling quite hot so I asked for black tea along with a bucket of ice. I got questioning look but it was well executed! Highlights: chicken shish kabob, and the meze plate, along with fresh bread puffed and sprinkled w sesame!
