My wife and I found ourselves in Jacksonville this evening craving some seafood. After attending to some business we found ourselves at the Seafood Island Bar and Grill. Paul the manager was on point friendly and helpful having shucked the evenings fresh oysters himself. Our counter help Eli was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in guiding us ordering. At this restaurant you order at the counter and the food is then brought to your table, drinks are fountain style or bar. My wife’s crab cakes were very tasty and moist with a good amount of crabmeat. I had a redfish filet blackened it was excellent. Loaded baked potato and a very nice fresh house salad. The wife enjoyed the jumbo shrimp dinner. An average full dinner plate runs a little less than 20 dollars In general and many combinations are offered. All our food was excellent , good portions, very fresh. During peak hours the lavatory was clean and spotless. Great relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful downtown setting perfect for the before or after dinner stroll. Plenty of parking highly recommended

I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting how great this place was! We ordered delivery and the food came pretty fast. I got the gator tail and the shrimp po boy with mac and cheese and coleslaw. It was all so good.. Great flavors! Plan to try this place out again to dine in.

Hands down great family spot. I like how you order at the front...then get your number...then find your own seat...then quickly your food comes...then its sooo good and hot and fresh....then the friendly waiters check on ya at good speed. Then your belly is full...so leave a good tip and go on your way. A nap will follow...trust me! Great service! Quick food. 4 eating under 75 bucks...that's good eating yall!

A nice bar & grille that serves seafood with several options. I wanted grouper, but not fried. The Seafood Island Bar & Grille had 3 options, fried, grilled, or blackened. I was surprised, but none the less happy. I ordered the grilled grouper lunch, which comes with 2 sides. I got the green beans and paid an extra couple of dollars, and got a side salad as my second side. The food was cooked nicely. The fish had a flavorable taste, and it flaked easily. The green beans were southern style, but not too buttery, and they blended well with the grouper. The side salad had mixed greens that were fresh and crunchy. It came with red onions, tomatos, and croutons. There are several dressings to choose from. However, I ordered the balsamic. Everything was delicious. You order at the register located in the center. Then, a server will bring you your food when it's ready. It didn't take long to get my food. The staff was nice and seemed to be caring about your desires. The place has an island/pirate vibe. It was clean, organized, and decorated for Christmas! There are many options of seafood, so if you are interested, then stop by here and give it a very. I think you just might like it! I did!!!

This is an order first, then have your food brought to you, type of place. And, frankly, everything was almost perfect on the day I stopped by. The atmosphere was exactly as expected, the staff was friendly and offered great suggestions. I went with the Special of the Day. The food did not get all 5 stars because they were out of an item that I really wanted and the macaroni & cheese did not impress me. However, their main thing (seafood) was absolutely delicious and those were some of the best hush puppies I've had in awhile. I'm definitely going back when I'm in Jacksonville FL again.

And it was all delicious. Well if there is a need to be fully honest, the fries were a bit too salty, but if that's the only thing, sign me up to order again. It was also lightning fast showing up 20 minutes ahead of the estimated GrubHub delivery time. Nooice.

We had a good meal here. We walked in and ordered without delay and the food was delivered to us pretty quickly. Everyone was very nice. The coconut shrimp were very good. The mahi was good, but close to overcooked. The clam chowder didn't taste any different than from a can and had a lot of potatoes, but wasn't bad.

This was my first time visiting Seafood Island Bar & Grill in Jacksonville. The place had a nice vibe and the staff and service were top notch! I ordered the seafood trio with shrimp, fish, and oysters. It also came with hush puppies and I selected cheese grits and applesauce as my sides. I washed it down with a sweet tea. Everything was fried to perfection, although you have several other options to have your meal prepared. The food was delicious and I'll definitely be back to try something else from their extensive menu!

Stopped in for lunch with colleages and was pleased with the service (a bit surprised it wasn't table service giving the area its in). The menu was varied and had a good selection of seafood. Food was delivered to the table quickly and hot. I had the blackened sprimp and flounder along with fried scallops, all was good. A colleage had requested spicy ranch, which was attemped in the kitchen but wasn't as expected. Overall, I'd return with guests.

We had the the sampler appetizer and the trio platter. Everything on both was excellent even the fried okra. The servers and staff were so nice and got the food out quickly and hot. I will come back .

Updated review. Food was good and fresh gator tail was really salty but cooked good. Rice pilaf was a no. The server replaced it with applesauce for me. My apologies I misunderstood the break down of the receipt, I received a response to my review and I really appreciate the professional response. I wish I would have known that they would have replaced my gator tail because I really wanted to eat it.

I stopped by here looking for seafood as I passed through Jacksonville during a road trip. The staff was friendly during ordering and serving. The fried seafood had good flavor, but shrimp and clam strips were not hot enough. The grilled red fish was hot but dry. It was good but not excellent, mainly because of the temperature of the food.

Amazing place we found! I had the clam strips and blackened shrimp. Both were amazing and good sized portions. Everyone left stuffed! Just a tip, parking is crazy in the front but there is a big lot behind it and they have a back door. I highly recommend it!!

Food was average for the Florida seafood experience. Devil crabs are made with Krab(imitation crab). Service staff was out to lunch. Though we dined between the lunch and dinner service hours so I guess that’s to be expected. Considering the place was close to empty I would have expected better attention. At the counter there were issues with getting our order correct. They aren’t exactly interested in table service. Wife used the bathroom with our child and said it was disgusting. Hopefully the kitchen staff does a better job keeping the back of house clean. As we were leaving I got up to ask for leftover boxes, a bag and some togo cups for our drinks they made that seem like a chore. And handed me two boxes and only one cup. I think they have problems with listening. Overpriced if you ask me. We will avoid going there again.

We loved this place. The people are very friendly and helpful. I'm from the north, originally from Jacksonville, so I have to have great shrimp when I visit. I could eat here every day of the week. It's nice but not fancy. But I don't need fancy. I just need shrimp and coleslaw and hushpuppies and grits. They do have a nice bar and a patio for outdoor dining. The have everything this northern boy needs.

Love this place! Large portions for a good price in a very nice location. You order by the bar, get your drinks there, and they bring the food to your table piping hot. They have outdoor seating too if it's not too hot. I got the calamari with fries and green beans - all delicious! The parking out front is a bit tough but they have more around back.

I had the firecracker shrimp and fried green tomatoes. They were both good/very good and I would order again. Although I'd honestly say that Maple St Biscuit's fried green tomatoes are a little better..seasoning. I found it amusing that my son's nonalcoholic beverage was the same price or 25 cents more than my alcoholic beverage, but it may have been happy hour.

The food was good and plentiful. We shared the platter for two and enjoyed it a lot. The fish was flaky and tasty, the shrimp were a good size as were the scallops. The oysters, which I'm normally not a fan of, were plump and excellent. The sides were good as well but could have had a touch more seasoning. You have to get your drinks and refills yourself though as once they bring you the food and condiments, that's all the service you get. Fortunately for us, it wasn't busy when we were there. The atmosphere was good and they a few outside tables that were surprisingly full considering the heat. All in all, a pretty decent place to grab some good seafood.

We really enjoyed this place. Overall, it was excellent. The food was very reasonably priced, especially considering considering the location and portions. It was a great casual place to have dinner and we will be going back.

The Alfredo/ fettuccine was basic. Tasted more like oregano rather seasoned. The shrimp& oysters were really good. Corn nuggets were good. I was not expecting to come in and order at the register then be seated. Food came out really fast…but it was fresh. It didn’t give me that, “wow” feeling. Spent 57 for two entrees. I’ll rather go for lunch.

Super chill spot.. great food… fast friendly service… we visiting from out of town and decided to try this spot we weren’t sure about the counter ordering but we sat outside and it was beautiful!!! Oh and we had the shrimp and scallops blackened and the gator tail!! Delicious!!

The order counter threw me off because you have to pay again for anything additional, like more drinks or a to go order. The crab cake and remoulade sauce was fantastic. My to go crab cake came in chunks and not even enough for 2 cakes. I called the manager and she says they'll replace it, so fingers crossed.

We all enjoyed our food. Everything was prepared properly and served at the right temperature. Service was to bring your food out which was most excellent. The Shrimp and clams tasted sweet and crunchy. The cheeseburger was fantastic and unexpected at that price. Stuffed Flounder oh my how delicious. They have friendly and courteous staff. More Parking in back

A decent restaurant and experience. Was visiting Jacksonville, saw they had gator on the menu. So I ordered the gator for takeout.... And yes, it does taste like chicken but with a flakier texture... This restaurant is a solid choice for dining.

The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Had the fried flounder and shrimp plate with fried pickles and cheese grits as sides.... wish the fish and shrimp had just a bit more seasonings as I did not taste any seasonings. The grits were a bit thick but some good butter and with a dash of salt and pepper made the grits better. Fried pickles were great. We will be visiting again.
