Bad experience with poor service, dirty silverware, raw food and missing orders. Is a shame because the place looks really nice. Dont know what happeded on my day but it was horrible. I order the steak and eggs with grits on the side.. there was no steak only chunks of beef that where really hard to cut with the knife and impossible to chew.. potatoes where raw inside and the grits never came. I ended up eating half of my wifes waffles and leaving hungry. The girl that took care of us (im sure she is a nice girl) was distracted or maybe had too many tables.. because we had to request things several times and often forgot our requests. Also where charge for food that never came. Dont think i will be coming back to The Local.. hope they get better... overall experience was really bad.

My food was absolutely amazing atmosphere was great and once we got a waiter she was absolutely awesome. Reason I gave four stars is because we literally had to get up and ask for somebody to come and greet us

I finally came here after hearing about this place from a few people and I would like to touch on a few topics about this place. Overall I give it 3 stars but there were definitely some good, some bad and some ugly. The good: the food was pretty darn good overall and there was a pretty good variety of options to choose from on the menu. The bad: I came here for my birthday dinner because I wanted to try a new place. The beer list only showed the brewery names but not the beer name or type so I just asked for whichever was a stout or porter from any of the listed breweries. I received an IPA 😑 not the end of the world, I drank it anyways... Moving on, after dinner we were brought the check. Never asked if we wanted dessert or another round of drinks. I mentioned it was my birthday and I kind of had dessert in mind. Was brought the menus and we ordered the baked apple dessert which was pretty good then was brought yet another check. I must say this was the first time at any restaurant I have ever paid for my own birthday dessert but oh well, I guess that's how they operate. The ugly: We sat outside on this cute patio with string lights overhead. However there were rats running around the patio eating scraps dropped on the floor. I'm sure this is hard to control being outside, but it's not something you want to see while you're eating nonetheless.

This is going to be a tale of two experiences. The atmosphere, service and people were all a 5. I was very impressed with the inside of the restaurant and what they had to offer. Wine, title and local draft beer. Very cozy ambiance. Excellent menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The choices are amazing. The wait staff is beyond friendly and personable.Presentation of the food is spectacular… here comes the disconnect for me. The zucchini fries looked fantastic. They were however a little large to. E fries, more like spears, and had little to no seasoning. They were cooked correctly, just went nowhere taste wise. The hot honey chicken bites… fresh, made to order, and fried just right. LOTS of white meat chunks. There was zero heat and just a hint of honey. I got the Smothered chicken bowl which was a spin on chicken ettouffee chicken was cooked perfect. The okra / tomato ettouffee was not ettouffee at all. I’m from New Orleans, I know ettouffee this was a relish. The dirty cauliflower rice. Was just cauliflower rice. There was nothing in it to make it dirty and agin. Zero seasoning. My wife got the Chimichurri steak. It was the best of the dishes and did have seasoning. All this rang in at just shy of $70 with no alcohol, so it’s a little pricey. I really wanted it to be as good as it looked but it wasn’t. I would try them for breakfast, but not again for dinner

A 3.5 stars is probably more accurate. Try "The Local" sandwich at " The Local. Nice casual indoor and outdoor dining. Good sandwich presentation although it seemed a bit more pricey than what I remembered from my last visit but the portions are large. Nice bar, clean restroom, and good service.

Ate half my sandwich before I took picture. Was too good not to leave a review. This was our first time going to The Local, and went for brunch. Our server was super nice and provided great service. The restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere. The food was so so so good. The whole family enjoyed our experience here. Will definitely be returning here again soon.

I come here pretty often with my boyfriend. I love the food, specifically the local toast. They have lots of good vegetarian options. Today we tried the strawberry limeade and it was some of the best limeade I've ever had. The service was great. It was crowded but we still got our food in almost no time. Our waitress Nicole was super nice and helpful. We opted for the outdoor seating since the indoor was crowded and it was very nice despite Florida's heat. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast/lunch!

The Local is a hidden gem in Jacksonville. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that this is a place that prides itself on excellent food and service. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a rustic charm that's perfect for a cozy night out or a casual lunch with friends. The menu at The Local is simply outstanding. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, which means that every dish is bursting with flavor and freshness. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty burger, a crisp salad, or some delicious seafood, you'll find something to love here. The service at The Local is also top-notch. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have. And if you're a craft beer lover, you'll definitely want to check out their impressive selection of local brews. Overall, I highly recommend The Local to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Jacksonville. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Really good food. Service a bit slow, but we were with friends and appreciated the extra time. Not too busy for dinner and has both indoor and outdoor seating options. Not pictured: side of sweet potato home fries, chocolate crème brûlée, and tiramisu, all of which were very yummy. The price for value is good. We will definitely be back.

Love dining Al Fresco at this sweet place. The food was fresh, tasted great and the presentation was very pretty. Only complaint was sweet potato home fries were cold.. but the veggie egg sandwich was perfect! Love how they elevate breakfast foods! Update: Returned for lunch less than a week later.. also fabulous! Going to have to make this a routine as there are so many choices on the menu that look so good!

Great spot. I'm looking forward to coming again. I had the avocado toast, and my husband had a burger with an egg and bacon. Good service, and I believe they were short staff but communicated the wait. I like that they did not over seat the staff. However, they definitely should have designated someone on bussing and wiping down tables... Including under them before seating customers. We are happy to wait for a great meal :)

This place is great. The coffee, food and service is amazing. The fried chicken is one of our favorite and combined with the waffle is to die for. The vibe here is super chill and there’s outside seating for those great weather days.

Service is great here no doubt about it but the food .. I had the fish and chips. The fish had a weird taste to it and the fries were barely hot. My coworker had a grill chicken salad and said the chicken wasn’t cooked fully and the salad had mostly water then dressing. The place seemed to have been good at one point but has lost its way overtime. Don’t trust the ratings read the reviews

Met some childhood friends because they live down the street from this restaurant and it was convenient. Our server wasn’t overly friendly and seemed bothered by anything we asked. I know it’s a hard job because I was in the service industry when I was younger but it requires patience and kindness. It was uncomfortable asking her for anything because she was really impatient, short and in a rush the whole time. It wasn’t that busy for Sunday Brunch. It was our first time here and she was bothered and impatient when anyone asked her about menu items or drinks. She was really nice towards the end when the check came. Who knows, maybe she was having a bad day. The food was good but the Bloody Marys had an odd, icy texture, almost like a slushie. I didn’t care for it and have had better. I consider myself a Bloody Mary connoisseur and I thought it had way too much Woistershire sauce in it. The color was odd as well. It’s a cute restaurant with great menu options.

Pretty excellent experience. Service was friendly and fast; my server was constantly accommodating and looking for ways to make my visit better. I started with the Green Goddess Hummus. It came with too few of the baguette slices, but my server let me know I could get more upon request. It also came with roasted (then chilled?) carrots, which were an interesting touch, but the baguette was twice as good. I saved the rest of the hummus to finish with my fries. Those fries came with the Hendrick Burger, which was cooked to a perfect medium. The flavors were huge, though there was a bit too much of the goat cheese for my liking. The fries were a bit heavy as well, which kept me from finishing them, but very tasty. Overall the food was worth the price and I only hope I find myself on this side of town to try more of the menu.

Took 15 minutes to get our beers after ordering them, server completely forgot about our oysters so we asked about them after we ate our entrees. Only brought one plate for 2 people with the oysters, stale crackers. No explanation as to what the eye dropper in our oysters was so we played a guessing game. Food took 45 mintues to come to our table and we got about 20 French fries between the 2 of us for our 2 orders. The check sure did come super quick though! Wont be back 👎

Staff was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and calm. Shrimp Benedict was very tasty. Espressotini and hot latte was on point. Only negative, The chicken breast was a bit greasy and seemed like processed meat.

Ordered through Ubereats. Requested no scallions and herb butter sauce. Still received both. Waffle and chicken was delicious. Glad they put the hot honey sauce for the chicken on the side. Wasn’t a fan of the sauce

The overall atmosphere of The Local was very welcoming! My server was attentive and even walked me through a few popular items because it was my first time! I ended up choosing the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich and it was sooooo good! I already want to go back and get it again!

Nice, cozy, small restaurant. Magdalene was a great server. The bloody mary is arguably the best flavor I've had, and I've had at least two dozen different Marys. A BM doesn't need a lot of fancy garnish to taste great.

My wife and I went here for a brunch date. It was such a cute place and a super super cute atmosphere. Staff was super friendly and awesome. Our food was fantastic and you get a large portion. We both got iced coffees and they were also very very good. Highly recommended this place. Super awesome and great food

FAVORITE brunch spot by far! Chai lattes are the BEST here, amazing chicken Parmesan (it’s a special) and the friendliest staff! Nicole is the sweetest! Ask for her if you want the best service!
