This is what was served to me. This is supposed to be oxtails. This is a $20 plate and this is not the first time.

The food was below average. The bartender said hookah was 30 bucks but when we arrived (after paying a 30 dollar entrance fee) they said we owed an additional 50 dollars to have hookah. Absolutely clip joint, they will swindle you. Plenty of better places nearby, don't go here.

This place is only getting a 1-star because the food was amazing!! I ordered 10 wings and only received 6. The waitress made sure to get the other 4 to me! Other than that, my FIRST experience here was horrible. Staff is very rude.(My fiancé and I were attempting to get the bartenders attention and he kept blatantly ignoring us. After patiently waiting, I grew angry because it seemed as if he was assisting everyone else around us.. we finally got around to him and he told me that he was “purposely ignoring us”, “there are people ahead of y’all”. I told him that he was very rude, and he said “I’ll show you rude if you don’t hurry up and order” with a sarcastic attitude. All I’m saying is, As a “professional “ He could’ve informed us that “there’s others in front, he’ll be right with us” I do not mind waiting, instead of BLATANTLY ignoring others. I made sure to work with another lady bartender named Amanda. Very unprofessional as well! They both were joking/laughing about my situation.. Will NOT go again. Drinks are overpriced, $25.

Food was good and not overly seasoned we had the shrimp, rice and beans which were medium size shrimp and you got about 8-10 and a deep fried chicken dinner. . Not sure if every Friday but on this day they had a live street music event which was more on the sidewalk but had a great atmosphere. They had tall table couches and seating was like have a lounge club outside with great music. People dancing socializing and having fun. It was a nice time with folks vibing to the music with good food and drinks.

A Friday night, I worked very late @ law office upstairs, I stopped in for a drink on the way out... during a festival! The gentlemen at the door were hilarious and made sure wine was on the menu for me at De Real Ting. The ladies inside were so sweet and I enjoyed watching the locals sing their karaoke songs 😁. I will be back to hang out!

Absolutely love this spot! Food is always delicious and the service is top tier. I treat myself on the weekends with their jerk chicken meal, but I need to try the peach cobbler so I will be there during the week. Also their Calypso is the bomb!

We arrived at Real Ting for some after hours food. Upon arrival we was searched by an over zealous security guard. I had my torch (just a lighter) in my pocket unknowingly. However this guy flips out. I calm the atmosphere because I’m not looking for problems and I advise him I will just take it back to my car. I come back and my lady tells me this guy was talking trash the entire time I was gone. I say no worries he didn’t say it to me. We got our food and was on our way out. Again I apologized to the guy for the mistake. He responds “can’t take that drink out” I was like do you mean this grape soda that I just purchased from your RESTAURANT. He said yes can’t take it out. So now I know this clown is just looking for something to mess with me about. So he says put it in the bag in a chastising manner. As I leave peacefully I notice this guy still talking trash and pointing at me. So of course cordial is out the door at this point. Not to mention when I came back from my car from putting the lighter in, the irresponsible security guard didn’t check me when I came back in. All that mouth while I was away but straight silent when I got back. I feel like Debo! Reminder to that young security guy. Remember everybody not for play and disrespect please govern yourself accordingly. I will never be back to this place long as this guy At the door.

What a wonderful place to go on a Friday evening! There is outdoor seating to listen and enjoy a live band that plays R&B. Afterwards, the DJ plays to the crowds delight, spinning old school R&B and the best reggae tunes, perfect for the grown and sexy. The restaurant is also open in the evening, serving a variety of Caribbean cuisine with a full bar. Indoor, there is karaoke and downstairs, a place for the younger crowd. Overall, I highly recommend De Real Ting Café as nice place to go and enjoy good vibes, good music, good food and good people.

Came here to celebrate the night before my wedding and had the time of my life! Friday nights, they have a dj and play music on the sidewalk. Real nice vibe!

I love the music and the ambience however the service is not that good. One bartender in particular on Friday nights downstairs is a very short light skinned Jamaican bald headed guy with glasses who apparently hates his job. He gets so frustrated to serve. He is disrespectful and belligerent. I don't understand the angry bartender or server who works for tips. Don't they want a good tip? I will make sure to never tip him. Hopefully someone in management will see this post and talk to him about his nasty attitude and how he misrepresents their establishment.

I purchased a section a hookah and a lot of food. We were thrown out because the hookah girl set up our hookah on a broken table and it immediately fell and they threw us out and kept our full bottle of liquor. And they physically hit you and hurt you to throw you out.

Discrimination at its finest. Tried to charge the people behind me $15 a person but my party $20/person. The woman at the door taking cover charge was rude as hell. Once we paid, they wanted $25 for a beer. Which is absolutely ridiculous. We walked out immediately because they obviously didn’t want our service & we will never be back. Trust me. Do not recommend, go 2 blocks down to dos gatos for the best service!

Absolutely the best peach cobbler and bread pudding in Jacksonville Florida! I am a connoisseur of peach cobbler and bread pudding and if you don't catch their lunch buffet of all you can eat ox tails, curry goat and curry chicken for $14.99 then you can't blame anyone but yourself! Warning!!! If you're going back to work afterwards then I recommend you make sure you got a place at work to take a quick nap!! Lol

I'm always lady mom taught me that. But if your heart is not in your job don't expect good service from them.

I was real hungry, went in to get some food and got lord knows what ? The food was spoiled. I didn't realize it until I ate some of it and left the place. I bought two plates that was a waste of money. The place looks nice but the food was Terrible, I really can't believe it. Ididnt take the food back because they know what they did. I went there on a Friday night to hear the live band which was really nice. The bad experience came in with the food. I ordered curry chicken and cabbage only. They gave me more bones than chicken and the cabbage tasted like cold slaw. It wasn’t cooked AT ALL. I advised the waitress of this, she went to get the chef and this lady tells me this is how Jamaicans cook their cabbage. Lady the cabbage isn’t cooked. Instead of taking the raw cabbage away and bringing some cabbage that was steamed she proceeded to say different places cook their cabbage different. You are right lady they do but this isn’t cooked. I will never order from that place again. The other ladies I was with couldn’t eat their cabbage either because it wasn’t DONE. I will definitely go back for the music but will bring in food from else where. That was my first and last time eating there.

This place is De Real Ting! I eat Ox Tails on a regular and ordered from here at least 6 times this year and they never disappoint! I have ordered from others during the week when they are not available on the food delivery sites but all I can say is this place is Number One!

  • 1/5 Constantinos A. 1 year ago on Google
So this is 1 star for the simply fact that the “security” doesn’t care about the people of Da Real Ting at all. I am taking my wife up the stairs, who obviously had too much to drink, and all they care about is pushing us off the property. I tried asking, “Hey, can I have my wife stand here (where security and police are) so I can pull the car around.” All they do is push me to leave the property. So apparently they have no concern or care for anything but their paycheck.

This place can have some really good music, I've been Friday and Saturday during the Jazz festival weekend. The only food I've bought is the patties, they taste store bought.

Daily lunch specials. Carribean buffet on Thursdays and Fridays until 2pm. The fish is well seasoned and crunchy and my FAVORITE. Other items like stew chicken, jerk chicken, oxtails (for $2 extra) pork chops, white, rice, yellow rice, beans and rice, mac and cheese and these bread pudding mini things that are soooo addictive. I don't even look at the salad, there are too many flavors to try.

Everything was really good, especially the bread pudding. However the collards had too much vinegar for my taste

I hear this club is one of the only ones open til 4am. They have a nice Caribbean vibe which I was excited for as lacksonville doesn't have much island clubs. But the way I was treated by the guards and owner who I respectfully tried to explain what was going on, was ridiculous. They laughed in my face and made us wait the line again for some reason. Very weird situation but l've never been treated that way before. Very uncalled for and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone after the way I was treated. The idea of it was nice but if that's how they act to paying customers when there's an issue I would not go back. I don't support businesses who think they are better than anyone else or even give the respect to acknowledge the way they were mistreated.
