약선정식 22000원 비건들을 위한 한국식 비건요리 맞춤 음식점이다. 버섯탕수육은 진짜 맛있음!

Sukkyong Shin of Cooking Jeonju introduced me to another hidden gem in Jeonju: 감로헌 Gamloheon. This restaurant is run by Ms. Cho who, after being in banking for many years, felt the call to provide Jeonju with access to medicinal cooking "before it was cool." Even now, medicinal food is rare in Jeonju, while flourishing in more trendy areas of Seoul. While "medicinal" may not sound appetizing, this is simply a way to show that food can support our bodies in the same way medicine can. And, frankly, it was some of the most delicious food I've had in the city. This mostly vegetarian meal is comprised of seaweed and soybean soup, yellow rice, and a beautiful display of banchan (반찬). At only 10,00 won, the meal is an outstanding display of the local abundance as Ms. Cho using many ingredients from her own farm located outside the city limits. While the banchan and soup were vegetarian, the set also comes with a side dish of beef. In addition to the food, we were served a medicinal tea at the start of the meal made only by Ms. Cho and a citron after the meal. I strongly suggest anyone who visits Jeonju make a visit to this special restaurant!

(Original) 건강한 맛인데 맛있기까지한 보기 드문 맛집이다. 건강식을 어필하는 다른 음식점들과 마찬가지로 절밥같이 심심하고 이상한 약초 맛이나 나겠지 하고 기대가 전혀 없이 식사를 시작했는데 웬걸 처음 나오는 구이부터 예상과 달리 간이 짭조름하니 맛있었고 이후 나오는 반찬과 요리들이 모두 예상을 빗나가는 맛을 가지고 있었다. 신기하게도 하나같이 무언가 약초 특유의 맛과 향이 있으면서도 거부감 없이 재료와 잘 어울려 평소 강한 향을 싫어해 쌈밥집에서 상추랑 깻잎만 먹던 나도 맛있게 먹을 수 있었다. 정말 반찬 하나하나도 그냥 평범한 맛인게 없었는데 이러한 독특한 맛을 맛있는 맛으로 조화시킨 솜씨가 보통 내공이 아닌 것 같았다. 그중에서 특히 콩불고기는 충격적이었는데 기존에 알고 있던 콩고기의 편견을 와장창 깨버린 꽉찬 식감과 달짝지근하게 잘 어울리는 소스의 조합이 정말 기가 막혔다. 순수하게 맛때문에 음식을 먹다 감탄한 적이 별로 없었는데 정말 고개를 절레절레 흔들 수밖에 없는 맛이었다. 이날 22000원짜리 코스를 먹었었고 마지막 후식 음료까지 평범하지 않게 끝나면서 오랜만에 정말 맛있게 잘 먹었다는 생각이 들었다. 정통 한식은 아니지만 가짓수만 많으면서 어설프게 먹을만한 어중간하게 비싼 한식집보다 훨씬 나은 것 같았고 나중에 어르신들 모시고 와도 만족스러워하실 것 같은 곳이다.

A fantastic authentic S.Korean restaurant. The food is more than exquisite, all their dishes come straight from the garden . My favorite was the lightly breaded mugwort, just splendidly seasoned and bursting with flavor. I was pleasantly surprised ! If you ever visit Jeonju area in S.Korea, I would highly recommend this delightful restaurant. Just an amazing foodie experience! It was an absolute pleasure to meet and dine here.
