Great view, good weather good to take a shot. Recommened to take a boat a long the dam. Fee 500 baht for 30 mins around the dam.

It is a dam, nice view, not much else. It was nice to get out of the car after a long drive from BKK. Other than photos and fresh air, basically nothing. Also no parking so you have to park on the street and usually a good few people are taking selfies in the middle of the street. No food or bathrooms. No cost of entry.

Such a calm quite green place, a reservoir sorrounded by small hills. The place is perhaps not much known to the international tourists. Kaeng Krachang dam is located in Phetchaburi province at the West of Bangkok around 200 km drive. 58 meter high Kaeng Krachan dam holds 750 million cubic meter of water for protecting flood, facilitating irrigation and producing 20 mw hydro-power. At the moment the lake is full to its brim due to heavy rainfall in Thailand and adjacent Myanmar. Many of the camping and tourist facilities have gone under water but rain has multiplied the pristine beauty many folds. The lake surrounded by deep green mountains is very scenic. The dam itself is an attraction having water level much higher on one side and human habitation at low level on the other side. Boat trip is a good option to enjoy the heavenly beauty of the hills and the lake, monkey attack being little scary surprise yet bonus. Jet ski is also available. Road trip through surpentine mountain roads is also a great option to enjoy the beauty. Though it is only 200 km drive from Bangkok, it takes 3 to 4 hours at the minimum due to heavy traffic on the highway. Friday evening shower and Bangkok traffic made it worse for us. Finall when we approached Kaen Krachan national park roads it was deep dark and scary. Long way we drove just alone not meeting any other vehicle. Finally when we reached our destination it was almost mid-night. We found the hotel reception close, had to call and wake up the owner for check-in. Afterall its not new for us. Now enjoying the sun and rain playing on the lake and mountain from my bed being inside cosy blanket we brought from home.

Recommended times are dawn (sunrise) or dusk (sunset) are the best times. In the daytime you can come but it will be hot. Overall is great!

It is a tourist trap with nothing much to see. However, local and foreign tourists flock here for pictures. There are locals in the area who offer boat rides in the lake for an affordable price. We tried the boat ride so that we would have another activity aside from taking photos at the dam. At the dam, we only stayed for roughly 15 minutes, while the boat ride took about 30 minutes.

Good place to come and enjoy the views. Early morning or evening are recommended. Sun rise and Sun set are so awesome. Weekend and holiday are clouded.

Dam! Great sightseeing area, before entering the dam area, turn and travel across the bridge into the little local town. Continue up that road to the area where you can rent a boat to travel over to monkey Island and the walking bridge.

Lovely views, take a long boat around the islands (one with monkeys - you don't go ashore)! Plenty of restaurants with lake views and reasonably priced Thai food!

👍👍 Kaenng Krachan dam & National park is around 70klms from the center of Hua Hin. It's a great place for a day trip to explore the area or stay over night at one of the many resorts scattered near and around the dam. 👍 access sedan Slightly difficult in the last 2 km. The phone signal has Wi-Fi. The room has no air conditioning, but it's not hot because it's on the edge of the tub. no electric plug (Here use solar power) The price is a bit high. Food can be ordered from outside restaurants and they are available....
