Historical landmark Bridge

👍👍 A beautiful piece of the old city. Somewhere nearby there was a house in which I. Kant lived. Walking along the bridge and looking at the dome of the Cathedral, you can imagine how a pensive philosopher walked this way to his university. It is beautiful here at any time of the year. A good location... People often mention bridge,

Only 3 of the 7 “old” bridges of the city have survived to this day. And only Honey and Wooden are objects of cultural heritage. Since the beginning of the 15th century, the bridge has been rebuilt several times, the last time in 1904 (very thoroughly). Last renovation in the 1980s. Reconstructed in 2017 (and even then, not completely). IMHO, nothing remains of the historical Wooden Bridge except its location.

The wooden bridge (German: Holzbrücke) between Altstadt and Lomse was built in 1404. On the Wooden Bridge there was a memorial plaque with excerpts from the Prussian Chronicle by Albrecht Luhel David. This ten-volume work told the story of pagan Prussia and the history of the Teutonic Order until 1410. This bridge has been preserved to this day in the form it acquired in 1904 during reconstruction. Now it carries the movement of vehicles and trams (one row in each direction) and pedestrians.

A beautiful, recently restored bridge on which you can cross to the other side, both by car and on foot.

After the repair, the bridge was transformed, beautiful lanterns and supports for tram lines in the form of arches appeared, new decorative fences were made, there is an observation window where you can see old German moving mechanisms.

The bridge is beautifully renovated, the only thing that spoils the view is the modern bumper along the edges of the roadway. But the recreated lanterns, fences and supports of the tram contact network cover this small minus.
