This is the first Duke of Prussia and Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. He was also the founder of the University of Königsberg. This is a copy of the lost original monument, which was cast in bronze and installed on May 19, 1891 at one of the towers of the Royal Castle. After the bombing of the city, this monument even survived. However, it was lost later. In 2005, the created copy was installed here, next to Kant’s grave. The authors of this work were F. A. Morozov and A. N. Shevtsov.

The monument is in the shade, we were with a guide. There are no benches in the shade on the island, or we didn’t find any. It was very sad, we were very tired during the excursion, but we didn’t want to soak in the sun.

Monument to Albrecht Brandenburg-Ansbach and Last Grand Master of Teutonic Order Albrecht (1490-1568). Being elected Grand Master in 1510, Albrecht was converted to Lutheranism, disbanded his order and transformed the Order State into hereditary Duchy in 1525. Original monument was made by German sculptor Johann Friedrich Reusch (1843-1906). Monument survived two RAF raids in August 1944 and assaults of Königsberg on April 6-9, 1945. After the war monument was lost without any trace. Today we can see a copy installed in 2005. You can easily find the munument near the apse of the cathedral. University known as Albertina was founded by Duke Albrecht and used to be behind of monument on the bank of Pregel River. It badly suffered during RAF 🇬🇧 air raids and was beyond any repair. Kaliningrad-Konigsberg, East Prussia, 🇷🇺 Russian Federation 🇷🇺. December 28, 2020.
